The young Russian singer Sharip Umkhanov (Sharif) is thirty-two (32) years old. Sharip Umkhanov was born in the Chechen Republic (Russia) in the village of Tolstoy Yurt. She works as a music teacher at a school.

Music attracted Sharip Umkhanov from early childhood. He sang and learned to play the guitar. It is curious that Sharip comprehended the basics of music on his own. Sharip Umkhanov worked in the construction industry for up to twenty-two years. Then he went to the capital of the Kuban, the city of Krasnodar, where he studied at the Faculty of Music Education. In 2007, Sharip Umkhanov was even recognized as the student of the year. He repeatedly took part in student competitions at his native university.

After completing his studies, Sharip had to leave music for a while and five years ago (2008) he went to work in Moscow. Sharip took part in the construction of the tunnel, which is located on Marshal Zhukov Avenue in Moscow. But the music irresistibly pulled Sharip, after a difficult work shift, he could not deny himself the pleasure of singing a few songs for his colleagues with a guitar.

As people say, there would be no happiness, but misfortune helped. The same thing happened with Sharip Umkhanov. He was injured at a construction site and devoted himself entirely to musical creativity. Sharip sang in restaurants and corporate parties. It is interesting that Sharip Umkhanov did not follow the well-trodden and win-win path of chanson - the artist often performed rock songs. And the audience liked the performances of the young Chechen singer.

At the television music competition "Voice" Sharip Umkhanov performed first with the song of the group "Scorpions" ("Still loving you"). Immediately after the start of the so-called blind audition, all the judges turned to Sharip - Pelageya, Alexander Gradsky, Dima Bilan, Leonil Agutin. They were simply shocked by the voice of the Chechen performer! Sharip chose Alexander Gradsky as his mentor and got into his team.

Sharip Umkhanov, a singer from the small Chechen village of Tolstoy-Yurt, who shone on the show " Voice"For several months, left the project. He missed the unique Belarusian baritone Sergei Volchkov to the final. But Sharip left beautifully.

For the semi-finals, he chose the medieval Italian work "Miserere" by the composer and priest Gregorio Allegri. By the way, Sharip's mentor Alexander Gradsky (there are four of them. Plus Pelageya, Dima Bilan and Leonid Agutin - Ed.) at one time performed this composition in a duet with Tamara Gverdtsiteli.

The day is terribly nervous, - Gradsky admitted. - I was nervous not even for the guys, not for myself - but for the situation itself, when two absolutely wonderful performers who have passed all the rounds meet in the semi-finals. Thank God that they have different timbres and repertoire, otherwise it would be impossible to choose. You both got together like never before, got together yourself and got each other together. It's so great that you are not rivals, but friends. It kills something that should have been killed long ago - when they smile hypocritically behind the scenes: “Oh, how you performed!”, “Oh, what an outfit you have!”.

While the mentors were making their speeches, the viewers frantically pressed the buttons on their phones in order to send as many SMS messages as possible in support of Sergei or Sharip. Voted for his fellow countryman and the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. Last week, he sent 287 text messages in support of Sharip - at least that's the number Kadyrov announced on his Instagram. Kadyrov has not yet shared his impressions of Sharip's performance in the semi-finals.

I want to thank everyone, first of all the mentors, who all four turned to me at the “blind audition,” Sharip said, pausing between words. Tears did not flow down his cheeks, but it was clear that it was very difficult for him to speak. - Alexander Borisovich, you believed in me and led me to the end, thank you! I congratulate Sergey! One person said that it doesn't matter what prize you get at the end, the main thing is who you become as you go towards your goal.

September 7th. Sharip Umkhanov opens the second season of the popular Voice project. The rules are the same - the jury only listens to the performers, but does not look at them. It took Gradsky 5 seconds to understand that in front of him (well, more precisely, behind him) is the person with whom it will be possible to work productively. According to the singer, it all started long before the competition, when he was asked to indicate his nationality in the application form for the competition. Umkhanov wrote that he was a Chechen.

To be honest, I was very surprised by such a column in the questionnaire, - said Umkhanov in an exclusive interview with Life. - After all, nowhere in Europe in the documents are they asked to indicate nationality, even in passports there is no such column. It got ridiculous - we had to prove that Chechnya is part of Russia. I didn't like it very much!

It is known that the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, is very interested in culture and art, for example, he wants to build an opera in Grozny. Did he know that someone from Chechnya went to an international music competition?

You know, it was my personal desire to take part in this competition and represent Russia. In Chechnya, I did not inform anyone, everything happened suddenly. I understand that Ramzan Akhmatovich would probably become interested if someone told him that I went to an international competition.

Did your problems in Bulgaria end with the "national question"?

No, soon they again tried to put spokes in the wheels. A few hours before the start of the competition, the jury removed my song, which was approved in a few months! They referred to the fact that its authors are not Russians, but Italians and that this is a cover version. At the same time, there were no restrictions on authorship in the rules of the competition. Moreover, they knew in advance who the author of the words and music was and could check before the competition. Because of this, I flew out of two nominations. We had to urgently change the song at the last moment. You know, the jury members lived in our hotel and communicated nicely with all the contestants. I was the only one they avoided. They only greeted me, and sat at the same table with others.

Sharif said that the reason for the prejudice against him in Bulgaria, he believes the extreme politicization of music competitions in recent years. According to the star of the show "Voice", the same thing happened with Sergey Lazarev at the Eurovision Song Contest

Lazarev went to the contest very deeply politicized. Even by voting there, it was clear that friendly states vote for their own, regardless of who is better and who is worse. Despite this, I am grateful to the organizers of the competition and those viewers in 24 countries who voted for me - it was 80% of the TV audience.
