On July 18, 2018, the fifth anniversary festival “Jazz Summer in Kolomenskoye” started at the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.


For five summer evenings, popular pop and jazz melodies performed by famous Moscow musicians will be heard in the Tent near the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.

The festival will be opened by the group “Elena et les Garçons” (“Elena and the guys”). Their music is stories about the legendary Paris, tales of love and romance, told through the great songs of French chanson.

At the concert on July 25, the beauty and power of the music of Ireland and Scotland, the brilliant skill and inspired improvisations of the musicians of Oleg Matveev’s Classy Jazz group will be woven together in a new edition of the “Treasures of the Celts” program.

On August 1, jazz fans will be delighted by the Real Jam Band, a popular jazz band from Moscow. Three vocalists and seven instrumentalists revive the traditions of old jazz and take the listener to the times of black and white cinema, big bands and vinyl records.

On August 8, the summer music marathon will continue with the crossover quartet “Black Square”. Critics define the quartet's style as a new direction in instrumental music - jazz, classical and even rock are intertwined in brilliant arrangements of well-known melodies. Classics in jazz, World music, Crossover - all this is “Black Square”.

The anniversary festival will conclude on August 15 with the “BO” Jazz Band, a group that plays (and dances!) music in the style of old jazz ensembles. Old jazz, which sounded on the dance floors of New Orleans, Chicago, New York and other big cities of the New World, still today does not leave indifferent anyone who hears the mesmerizing sounds of this most vibrant and danceable music in the world.

From July 18 to August 15, the summer series of concerts “Jazz Summer in Kolomenskoye” will be held at the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. Brilliant skill and inspired improvisations of the musicians of Oleg Matveev’s group Classy Jazz, the power and grandeur of the classical organ performed by Anna Suslova in the new edition of the “Treasures of the Celts” program.


August 1 Jazz fans will be delighted "Real Jam Band"- popular jazz band from Moscow. Three female vocalists and seven instrumentalists (drums, double bass, guitar/banjo, saxophone, trombone, trumpet and piano) revive the traditions of old jazz and take the listener back to the times of black and white movies, big bands and vinyl records. The concerts feature New Orleans and Chicago jazz from the first quarter of the 20th century, the best compositions of the swing era of the 30s and the most iconic jazz melodies of the 40s and 50s.

8 August the summer music marathon will continue crossover quartet “Black Square”. In a relatively short period of its creative life, the quartet, an unusual jazz group, managed to conquer the leading stage venues of Moscow and Russian cities. The unique style of the ensemble is a modern reinterpretation of the masterpieces of world musical culture. The best examples of classical music receive new life in modern, original interpretations of “Black Square”.

The Jazz Dance Orchestra is joining the jazz marathon - the founder of the jazz-pop style in Russia, the only group whose work organically combines hits of popular music, hip-hop, rock, American jazz and Russian folklore.

The history of the Jazz Dance Orchestra began 12 years ago. Then trumpeter, composer and arranger Vadim Zaydin decided to assemble his own band, playing fun, danceable jazz of the Glenn Miller era for a wide audience. “Jazz Dance Orchestra” is both the name and the credo of Vadim and his like-minded colleagues.

The tracks of “Jazz Dance Orchestra” are heard in the playlists of top radio stations, on broadcasts of rating programs on central TV channels - Russia, NTV, STS, TVC, Moscow 24. For three years, the orchestra was a participant in the show “ProjectorParisHilton” on Channel One, where, under its accompaniment Ivan Urgant, Sergei Svetlakov, Alexander Tsekalo, Garik Martirosyan, Roberto Carlos, Alexander Rosenbaum, Alexander Gradsky sang.

The musician's performances captivated audiences in many countries around the world - his concerts were held with great success in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Australia, the USA, Africa and Central America. In his concerts, the pianist performs music of different styles: traditional jazz, various types of modern jazz music, classics. A special place in the musician’s work is occupied by the so-called “Third stream”, which is an organic fusion of modern academic music and jazz. The concert on January 8 includes: Sergey Vasiliev (double bass) and Pavel Timofeev (drums), which over the past years have been one of the best rhythm sections in Russia. Since 2002 they have been the permanent rhythm section of Daniil Kramer. In 2003, at the competition for young jazz musicians “DODG 2003”, the trio “Moscow”, which included Sergei Vasiliev and Pavel Timofeev along with pianist Vladimir Nesterenko, was awarded the Grand Prix of the competition. This rhythm section played with such musicians as Michael Bracker, Joe Colderazzo, Carmen Landi, Rene Marie, Hendrik Merkens, George Khaligan, Igor Butman, Valery Ponomarev, David Goloshchekin, Igor Bril, Alexey Kuznetsov, Vladimir Danilin, Alexander Oseychuk, Anatoly Kroll , Georgy Garanyan, German Lukyanov and others. Pavel Timofeev and Sergey Vasiliev are the leaders and producers of their own project “Crazy Rhythm”. Refined taste, masterful performance, real swing and a stylish selection of works are the calling card of “Crazy Rhythm”; in this project, the musicians play not only jazz standards in their own arrangements, but also present their original works written in the best traditions of the “golden era” of jazz.
