Chad Krueger

Chad Robert Krueger (born November 15, 1974, Hannah, Alberta, Canada) is the lead vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Nickelback. In addition to his work at Nickelback, Kruger has been recording songs for films and other artists.
Collaboration

In 2002, Chad Krueger teamed up with Saliva vocalist Josie Scott, guitarist Tyler Connolly of Theory of a Deadman, and Our Lady Peace drummer Jeremy Teggert to record the Hero soundtrack for the successful Spider-Man movie. Also in 2002, Kruger wrote and performed "Why Don" t You & I "for Santana's new album Shaman. However, when Arista decided to release the song as a single in the summer of 2003, Kruger's label, Roadrunner, refused to give permission, arguing that the decision that Kruger's presence on the single could diminish public interest in Nickelback's new album, The Long Road, which was slated for fall 2003. On Kruger's recommendation, Arista replaced him with The Calling's Alex Band. But a recording with Kruger's voice can easily be found online or on Santana's album today. In 2007, Chad Kruger finished working with Santana for the second time, writing and recording guitar and vocals for him for a new song that appeared on the compilation album Ultimate Santana. the track was titled "Into the Night" and was released as a single on August 20, 2007. The Ultimate Santana album itself was released in October. In addition to working with Santana, Chad recorded with Travis Tritt on e on The Storm, where Tritt performed a cover of Nickelback's "Should've Listened" from The Long Road.
In addition, Kruger played guitar on Bo Bice's You’re Everything.
In 2009, Chad Krueger, Eric Dill, Rune Westburg and Chris Daughtry recorded the debut single from the band's new album Daughtry. The single, titled "No Surprise", debuted on American Idol on Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Krueger also helped write another song from the album "Life After You." He and Brett James recorded the single "It" s a Business Doing Pleasure with You in 2009 with Tim McGraw.

Problems with law

At about 1:30 am on June 1, 2006, Kruger was stopped for speeding by the Mounted Police (RCMP) in Surrey British Columbia. The test showed that blood alcohol levels were almost doubled. Kruger's lawyer tried to argue that the test results were insufficiently evidential to allow the officer to conduct an illegal search and seizure. As a result, the judge admitted that the search was indeed illegal. However, on March 4, 2008, the judge rejected the request to declare the test results inconclusive. On April 1st, 2008, Kruger was convicted of driving with an excessive concentration of alcohol in his blood. On May 1, 2008, the court sentenced him to a $ 600 fine and was banned from driving for a year.
In May 2009, Vancouver resident Noah Christian Morse filed a high court lawsuit against Kruger. Morse alluded to the fact that on May 4th 2007, Kruger attacked him after leaving the Roxy Club on Granville Street in Vancouver around 3am. Morse said the concussion left him with scars and headaches, among a number of other problems.

Piquet also performed some of the band's covers in concert, including "Super Bon Bon" and "Saturday Nights' s Alright (For Fighting)." ...
Piquet usually uses Gibson guitars such as Les Pauls, Gibson Explorer and Gibson Flying V, and also uses a modified "glass Lucite Gibson look" and Flying V when playing "Figured You Out" live. He also used Gretsch electric guitars for "Someday". When the band was still undecided on Chad Krueger's guitar playing technique, Tim "Timmy" Dawson was the third guitarist at the concerts. Early in his career, Piquet often used a modified Fender Telecaster guitar. He replaced the Telecaster's pickup with the EMG Humbucker. He also uses Morgan and Gibson acoustic guitars. To perform at the Photograph concert, he uses an acoustic guitar that his father gave him, in the video for this you can see Kruger playing this guitar.

Piquet entrusted the concept of the video clip "Savin" Me "to his wife.

Mike Krueger

Michael Douglas Henry Kruger, better known as Mike Kruger. Born 1972 in the small farming community of Hannah, Alberta in Canada.
Mike Krueger is the bassist for the post-grunge band Nickelback. He is the older brother of the band's vocalist and guitarist, Chad Kruger, and it was he who came up with the name of the band while working at a local coffee shop in Hann. (Mike currently lives in Vancouver). When Mike learned to play the 5-string bass, he began to sing the band's songs. Mike uses Spector and Lakland electric basses. He married Angela Kruger and now has a son, Dawson, and a daughter, Avalon, who are often with the band on tour. He first played in another heavy metal band and then joined Nickelback with Ryan Piquet at the request of Chad Kruger.

Daniel Adair

Daniel Patrick Adair (born February 19, 1975) is a Canadian drummer best known as the permanent drummer for the rock band Nickelback, his previous work was associated with the American "3 Doors Down". He also collaborates with the group Suspect and the instrumental group Martone.

Describing his career, Daniel often uses the catchphrase of Gary Player: "The harder you work, the luckier you get".

Biography

Born and raised in Vancouver, drummer Daniel Adair began playing at the age of 13. His father, also a drummer, had a 1967 drum kit, which Daniel once sat on. His decision was influenced by the album of the rock band "Rush" - "Hemispheres". Soon he became simply obsessed with this idea, rehearsing day and night in his room, imitating famous drummers. At 22, his work was heavily influenced by Neil Part, John Bonham, Tim Alexander, Lars Ulrich and Vinnie Paul Abbott. Contrary to popular belief, he is not self-taught, his teachers were the "Hodgons" from Australia, to whom he expressed his gratitude on the first album. As a teenager, unfortunately, he did not play the drums very well, but was soon accepted into a record store in Vancouver. Over the years, his tastes changed under the influence of jazz drummers such as Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Coluta, Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati. At the same time, he began playing in local cover bands, learning to play bass and learning new drum techniques from various teachers, mainly from John Fischer, who was famous for his strict discipline.
After years of performing live with local bands in grubby bars in east Vancouver, Daniel began playing in respectable five-star Whistler resorts. During this time, he rehearsed late into the night in the studio, played in 3-4 bands, gave students 15 drum lessons a week, and at the same time ran a music store.
At the same time, Daniel auditioned for guitarist David Marton, a graduate of Birkley College of Music, who was creating his own instrumental group. Soon in 1999 the new band Martone began recording their first album. Daniel referred to him as the greatest guitarist he has worked with, whose music inspired him to push his limits.
In the summer of 2002, Daniel had the opportunity to work with the Mississippi multi-platinum rock band 3 Doors Down. Together with them, he recorded the studio album "Seventeen Days", the live album "Another 700 Miles", accompanied the group on tours in 14 countries and appeared on numerous televisions.
In January 2005, Daniel left 3 Doors Down to join the Canadian post-grunge band Nickelback. Seven months later, they released the album "All the Right Reasons", which debuted at # 1 on the Billboard charts and continued their world tour after releasing several highly successful singles. He also collaborated with Theory of a Deadman, Bo Bice, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thornley, Faber Drive and Martone, touring Dave Marton. The next multi-platinum rocker from Nickelback was called Dark Horse. The first single, "Gotta Be Somebody", was released on September 29 in North America, while the album itself was released to the world on November 18, 2008. The album was produced by Matt Lange, best known for his work with AC / DC.
On October 21, 2007, James Hart (leader of Eighteen Visions) announced that Adair had recorded the drums for his new band, Burn Halo.
In December 2009, rumors surfaced that Adair's wife Brittany had given birth to twins. Messages from Adair even appeared on the social network, but so far the spouses have not officially confirmed the rumors.

The history of the Nickelback group from the small Canadian town of Hannah (which is 215 kilometers north of Calgary) began in 1995. At first, the ensemble was a regular cover band, but over time, the leader of the team, Chad Krueger, this situation ceased to be satisfied, and he decided to record his own material. Borrowing $ 4,000 from his stepfather, Chad went to Vancouver, where his friend had a studio. A little later, brother Mike, who was in charge of bass, guitarist Ryan Peak and drummer Ryan Weikdal, joined him. Without wasting time, the musicians in 1996 recorded the mini-album "Hesher" and the long-play "Curb", and also toured their native Canada. The vocalist was previously engaged in advertising activities and decided to apply the skills acquired in this field to promote his group. In particular, Chad asked his friends to call the radio stations more often and order songs performed by "Nickelback". This bore some fruit, but still the business did not progress as quickly as we would like. In 1998, the team parted ways with their managers, as the guys decided that they themselves would better cope with their duties. Mike took over the distribution, Chad was in charge of the radio stations, and Ryan Weikdahl took over the organization of the concerts.

Having raised $ 30,000, the musicians began recording the album "The State", and in January 2000 the disc hit the shelves. This was the period when Canadians were fed up with the dominance of foreign performers, and radio stations were desperately looking for domestic talent. The single "Leader Of Men" was exactly the find that had been awaited for a long time. This song, as well as the song "Breathe", entered the top ten of the Canadian mainstream charts. In support of their album, "Nickelback" played a couple of hundred concerts, performing with such bands as "Creed", "3 Doors Down", "Fuel", etc.

The post-orange sound of the group was to the taste of the record companies, and the musicians signed a contract with the American "Roadrunner" and the Canadian "EMI". With the help of these companies, the number of sold records "The State" exceeded the half-million mark. Many of the songs included in the next album ("Silver Side Up") were written before the release of the previous work in the States and were tested live. Krueger chose to use more explicit lyrics than the metaphorical lyrics of the first releases. So, the song "Too Bad" was about the father of Chad and Mike, who left their children to be raised by their mother, and "Never Again" was about broken families. The sessions took place at the same Vancouver Green House studio where The State was recorded. Rick Parashar ("Pearl Jam", "Temple Of The Dog") was produced and mixed by Randy Staub ("Metallica", "").

Thanks to the participation of these famous personalities and the undeniable quality of the musical material, "Silver Side Up" hit the charts in many countries, bringing "Nickelback" worldwide popularity. The single "How You Remind Me" was in the greatest demand, with a song that repeated the success of "American Woman" ("Guess Who"), which simultaneously topped the American and Canadian charts.

The next work, "The Long Road", turned out to be smoother, which, however, did not prevent it from settling on the 7th line of "Billboard". The tour in support of the album was very successful, and the total circulation of the disc exceeded five million. In 2005, Vaikdal left the band and was replaced by 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Eder. With a new drummer, as well as celebrity guests Billy Gibbons ("ZZ Top") and Dimebag Darrell ("Pantera"), the album "All The Right Reasons" was recorded, which climbed to the very top of "Billboard". The harvest that this work brought turned out to be very, very rich: two non-slip years in the "Billboard Top 30", five top 20 singles, multimillion circulations of both the LP itself and accompanying minions, over two million tickets sold for an accompanying tour, winning the "American Music Award", etc. etc. Struck by the extraordinary success of the Canadians, the notorious producer Matt Lange decided to join the case. With his submission, they added electronic rhythms in the spirit of Rob Zombie to their signature power ballads and commercial rockers, and in the fall of 2008 they demonstrated the resulting album.

Although many critics were skeptical about the innovation, "Dark Horse" sold well. After receiving a master class, the group returned to independent production, and although some of Matt's lessons were applied in the future, on "Here And Now" the musicians took a step back to the formula already proven over the years. In Canada, the disc became the fifth consecutive charttopper for the band, and in the neighboring States it had to go down a notch.

Nickelback is a band founded in 1995 in the Canadian city of Hanna. Performs in the genre of alternative rock. Its distinctive features are considered to be its high-quality musical sound, the unusual timbre of the vocalist Chad Kruger's voice and the semantic load of the lyrics. Therefore, Nickelback more than deservedly received the title of the best rock group of the first decade of the XXI century according to Billboard statistics.

Idea of creation

The rock band Nickelback is a collaborative effort between two brothers - Chad and Mike Krueger. Initially, Chad had the idea to create a musical group, and later he offered his brother a creative project. The young people invited their cousin Brandon Kruger to the group to play drummer and guitarist Ryan Peak.

The quartet did not immediately get the unusual name. Initially they wanted to be called POINT OF VIEW, then Village Idiot, and at the latest the name sounded like BRICK.

The real name of the Canadian band Nickelback is associated with the time of Mike Kruger's work in a cafe, where a cup of coffee cost 45 cents. Coffee was ordered often, and after calculating the customer, Mike always repeated the same phrase: Here’s your nickel back, which meant: “Here’s your five cents of change”. The guys listened to the usual melodic sound of the phrase and decided to use it as a name.

The beginning of the creative path

For quite a long time, the Nickelback group could not find their own style. At the beginning of their career, the guys performed covers of well-known musical material, but this did not bring success. The young people wanted to find their listeners and become famous as an individual group. Chad got the idea to record his own songs, but the parents of the two musicians had to sponsor it. The family paid for recording services in Vancouver.

Also, in 1996, the brothers' stepfather gave the young musicians a small amount of money to record a trial album, Hesher. Thanks to friends of the group and pre-planned voting on radio stations, Nickelback began to appear frequently on local radio waves. The musicians themselves went to the radio for a long time and asked that their songs be put on the air.

After finally moving to Vancouver and recording another album called Curb, the musicians rose to prominence. Their first tour of Canada was a success.

Years of popularity

The renowned hard rock label Roadrunner Records has signed a contract with the young musicians for the next album, Silver Side Up, which has become the most popular since the band's inception. The song How You Remind Me conquered the audience and took first place in the Billboard Hot 100. This song is about emotional experiences associated with unrequited love. Many people liked Nickelback's music because of the sincere individuality of each song. Also included in the album was a song in which the father of two musicians, who had abandoned his family, was negatively described.

Nickelback recorded the song Hero for the Spider-Man movie. Later, a video was shot for her, enthusiastically received by the public.

Nickelback's next album, All The Right Reasons, features new drummer, former 3 Doors Down member Daniel Adair. Later, 5 singles and video clips were recorded.

In November 2008, the group released another album - Dark Horse, from which 6 singles and videos were released.

Nickelback's songs have long held the pinnacle of popularity in their genre. The musicians have released a series of very successful and salable albums.

In 2011, the album Here & Now was recorded, the singles of which became the leaders of orders at radio stations. After granting access to the album for free listening and the release of the video for the song When We Stand Together, this disc entered the top of the "Most Successful Albums of the Year". In the first week of the album's release, over a million copies were sold.

The group released several singles and a studio album, No Fixed Address, in 2013. And more recently, in 2017, she presented her 9th disc called Feed the Machine.

Style

The Nickelback group performs different genres of rock music. Initially, she classified herself as an alternative rock genre, but in subsequent albums you can see a manifestation of post-grunge, pop-rock, alternative metal and even hard rock. Also in some albums, elements of electronic music can be traced.

Some fans claimed that Nickelback performed in the nu metal genre, but the musicians do not have singles written in this style.

Concerts

Throughout its creative activities, the group has given many concerts.

In 1996, they, then little known, toured Canada with a new album. The tour went very well.

In honor of the release of the Silver Side Up album, the band gave many concerts around the world, which brought them great success.

In total, the group has 32 songs and 25 video clips for them. If you count the sold Nickelback albums only in America, then their number exceeds 26 million copies.

Alternative

Many fans, not satisfied with the creativity of their favorite group, begin to look for groups that resemble them in style of performance.

There are several bands similar to Nickelback, and they all play alternative rock. These include such groups as:

  • Theory of a Deadman is a rock band performing mainly grunge and alternative rock songs. Also, like Nickelback, she gained popularity in Vancouver and collaborated with Roadrunner Records. Platinum status.
  • 3 Doors Down is an American alternative rock group. Since 2002, it has included current Nickelback drummer and backing vocalist Daniel Adair.
  • Hinder - an American band whose music critics say revives the old notion of classic rock. It was formed relatively recently - in 2011, and acts in the genre of alternative rock and heavy metal. He is a member of the Oklahoma Musical Glory Museum.

Many rock music fans find a certain similarity in the work of Nickelback and the famous American band Skillet.

Skillet is a Christian rock band from America. In addition to this style, he performs alternative rock, nu metal and symphonic metal. He has received many awards throughout his musical career.

In 1996, in Canada, in the small town of Hannah, the Nickelback group was formed. It consisted of four people - two brothers Chad Kroeger (vocals, guitar) and Mike Kroeger (bass), as well as their cousin Brandon Kroeger (drums) and Ryan Peake (guitar). However, the group did not last long in this composition, soon Brandon Kroeger left the group. Before finding a replacement in Ryan Vikedal, six drummers were in the band.

Choosing a name for the band was also not easy. The very first name of the band was Point of view, then it was renamed into Village idiot, later it became known as Brick. Ultimately, the band chose the name Nickelback, which means "surrender". The unusual name was invented quite spontaneously. The thing is that at that time Mike Kroeger worked as a waiter in a cafe, after the client paid him for a cup of coffee, he kept saying the same phrase: "Here" s your nickel back ", which in translation meant “Here's your change.” The simplicity of the word “nickelback” caught the attention of the guys, and they finally decided on the name of the group.

The musical direction of the group was also not immediately chosen. Initially, the guys got carried away with performing cover versions of popular singles. However, this did not bring the desired results in promoting the group. To break through to the big stage, the guys had to record something of their own, new. In this they were helped by the parents of Chad Kroeger, who agreed to finance the services of a recording studio in Vancouver. The first brick on the road to great fame was laid.

The band managed to record their first demo-album called "Hesher" in the same 1996. Later, a wave of Nickelback concerts swept across Canada in support of their new album. The band was produced by Chad Kroeger himself. He was helped in this by the invaluable experience gained while working in the advertising department of a sports magazine. He came up with an unusual way to promote songs. Namely, at his request, friends, acquaintances and relatives called the radio and ordered songs by the Nickelback group. In this way, they managed to win their audience of listeners. However, this was not enough to achieve popularity. Affected by the lack of funding and indifference on the part of managers.

In 1998 the Nickelback group moved to Vancouver, where they successfully performed in clubs, thereby earning the necessary amount for the release of their new album. In addition, they are engaged in advertising and organizing activities on their own. Step by step, the guys overcome all the obstacles on the way to success. They were also fortunate enough to meet and enlist the support of Matthew Good Band producer Dale Penner and engineer Rage Against The Machine Garth Richardson.

In 1999, a new Nickelback album called "Curb" was released, although the number of copies sold was limited. Only one song "Leader Of Men" was successful from the whole album. The same composition was destined to get into an album called "The State", which was released in 2000 with a half-million circulation. And now, the long-awaited glory has finally come. Their songs are heard on all local radio stations. The guys themselves are organizing concerts in support of the new album, performing with such bands as Creed Fuel and 3 Doors Down. And as often happens in such situations, a race began between the producers, hoping to conclude a contract with the Nickelback group. However, in any race there is only one winner - it turned out to be the Roadrunner Records label (USA).

Already on September 11, 2001, Nickelback's next album, Silver Side Up, was released. The guys decided to add something new to the lyrics of the new album in the form of stories from real life. For example, the sad theme for the song was the departure of the father of the Kroeger brothers from the family. This album was even more successful than the previous one, managing to six times its circulation in four months. Album "Silver Side Up" has been certified Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum. The single "How You Remind Me" conquered a wide audience of listeners on American radio broadcasts, topping the charts of six of them, including the Billboard Hot 100. The popularity of the song "How You Remind Me" seemed endless, it sounded three thousand times in a week. radio stations, setting a kind of record. Moreover, the songs of the Nickelback group sounded on radio stations in other countries of the world - Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Australia.

It was truly a success for the group. However, speaking of the success of the album, I would like to mention people like Randy Staube, who mixed the songs and producer Rick Parasher, who helped promote the band. They have been of immense help in achieving Nickelback's stardom and popularity.

Best of the day

The next album of Nickelback called "The Long Road" appeared in 2003, and although it was created on their own, without any outside help, the guys were able to achieve high-quality sound in all respects. The attitude towards recording tracks has reached a more professional level. The album was recorded in the same melodic-aggressive style, however, it added revelations. According to the musicians themselves, any music should bring them closer to the feelings of the listeners, and only then can it win their hearts. The band's fans were infinitely grateful to them for the many concerts that Nickelback have played since the release of the new album. All this lifted the group to the pinnacle of fame.
