How to draw a New Year's gift on a graphics tablet? How to draw a gift box with a card

No holiday is complete without the most important thing - gifts. What can we say about the New Year? This is one of the biggest holidays, when every person is busy looking for gifts for family and friends. Whatever the chosen gift, it must be beautifully packaged. Packages come in various types, sizes and colors, but today we will talk about the usual box with a beautiful bow. We'll find out how to draw a New Year's gift and to make the composition look more attractive, we’ll decorate it with a sprig of spruce and two balls.

Tools and materials:

  1. A graphics tablet and pen (I used Wacom Intos Draw, but any will do) connected to a computer or laptop.
  2. Adobe Photoshop program.

You can also use a simple pencil, an eraser and a piece of paper.

Stages of work:

Step 1. In Adobe Photoshop, create a new surface: File – New. Set the dimensions of the new document in pixels: width - 850 pixels. and height – 595 px. We will get a white surface on which we will draw our illustration. For the brush, set the main diameter to 5 and the color to dark gray:

Step 2. We draw a rectangle from which we will start when constructing the gift. Its width will be slightly greater than its height:

Step 3. Draw a vertical line through the center, which is shifted slightly to the right:

Step 4. Now you can draw the side parts of the gift and its box, but draw only the foreground. We leave the background empty for now, because there will be a big bow that will cover it:

Step 5. Use an eraser to remove the lines that helped in the construction. Now we won't need them:

Step 6. On the gift we outline the general lines of the bow, and a ribbon will hold it on the sides:

Step 7 In front we will draw two circles - Christmas tree decorations, which will touch inside. Let’s draw out the circles a little so that we can add them later in this place where they are attached (Christmas decorations):

Step 8 On top of the Christmas tree balls we will draw fastenings, and on the bow we will draw the bends of the ribbon:

Step 9 We will place the branches of the Christmas tree in the background, so now we outline their bases (from which the needles will grow):

Step 10 Reduce the main diameter of the brush from 5 to 3 and draw small needles. They should be slightly curved towards the edge. The strokes must be applied very tightly to make the branch fluffier:

Step 11 We correct the drawing by removing extra lines where they are not needed, and adding in places where they are missing:

Step 13 We make the tone of gray a little darker and apply it on top, but this time the volume of the shadow will be less than the previous one. This change in tone will help make the shadow transition smoother:

Step 14 Again we make the tone darker and apply it to our drawing:

Step 15 The next step in applying the shadow will be with a darker gray tone, and place it all on a smaller surface:

In order to draw a gift, it is very important to first draw the cube. It consists of four faces. After drawing it, you can finish drawing a beautiful wrapping package on it or a ribbon with a bow. It always looks impressive and bright, especially if such a drawing is colored with bright colored pencils in New Year's shades or using paints.

Materials for drawing a New Year's gift:

  • a free sheet of paper in an album;
  • pencils for sketching and coloring;
  • eraser for deleting;
  • black marker for outlining.

How to draw a box with a gift step by step

1) Draw a vertical line. From the top and bottom points we draw side lines at an angle.

2) Then add two more vertical lines to form the edges of the box containing the New Year's gift. We will also draw the last fourth corner, which is located in the background.

3) Draw a circle at the top in which a lush bow will be drawn to decorate the gift. Draw satin ribbon lines along all edges of the box.

4) Draw a chic lush bow in the middle of the circle. We draw two short strips of ribbon from the center of the bow. We create the edges of the box without sharp corners, and we also create smooth lines of the tape on all parts of the picture.

5) We get a beautiful drawing of a gift that needs to be carefully outlined with a black marker and painted over with colored pencils. We are doing the first one right now. You can also add small strokes and highlights on objects.

6) Use a red pencil to paint over the satin ribbons and chic bow that serve to decorate the New Year’s gift.

7) The box in which the gift is placed is created with green shades of pencils.

Let's make this a little more difficult. To teach you to really feel and control this empty flat piece of paper, I want to open up for you complex but interesting objects - empty boxes.

1. So, draw a cube.

2. Then draw slightly inclined two parallel lines.

Parallel lines- these are two lines going in the same direction and located at the same distance. When I say the word "parallel" I imagine 2 lines in one word.

Perpendicular lines- two lines that intersect at right angles. For example, on this line you see text that is perpendicular to the edge of this page.

3. ATTENTION! Look at how this top edge of the box lid is drawn, following all the slanted lines with a slight slope up to the left. I will refer to this angle as the direction northwest. Imagine a compass.

The four most commonly used directions that I will refer to throughout the lessons are the directions: northwest, northeast, southwest, and southeast. Take a look at this compass.

Now I will reverse the compass. Again, perspective distorts and flattens an object, creating the illusion of depth by bringing one edge of the object closer to the viewer.

Notice this tilted compass drawn and the four directions indicated - NW, NE, SW and SE - all of which lines match the lines of your cube.
I call it "3D compass". This is a wonderful tool for properly sequentially aligning lines. Without properly constructed angles, your drawings will look askew.

4. Draw a lid on the other side of the box using two parallel lines.

5. Using the bottom line of the box in the NE direction, draw the top of the box lid in the same direction (NE).

6. Draw slanting lines to represent the flaps of the box at the front at the bottom.

7. Once again, using the bottom edges of the box as guides, complete the box lids by drawing lines in the NE and NW directions. I'll keep repeating this: use the lines you've drawn as a guide to draw the next ones. Always referencing the already drawn angles corresponding to the 3D compass will help your drawings look solid, focused and most importantly, three dimensional.

8. Draw short peeking lines for the back of the box. Notice how one small line contributes to the overall three-dimensional illusion of the drawing. That little line on the back of the box makes the “BAM!” and at this moment our drawing turns from a two-dimensional sketch into a three-dimensional object.

9. Draw a horizon line and determine the position of the light source.

10. To correctly draw the falling shadow, use a 3D compass. Draw a guide line along the bottom of the box in a direction SE. ATTENTION! This is the most common mistake that beginners make - they start to lower the shadow below the guide line. Please note that the shadow should be in line with the guide.

11. The shades under the two lids of the box add realism to the image. These are wonderful little pieces that successfully demonstrate volume, refined detail and edges. In this example, these shadings help “pull” the lids toward the eyes, pushing the box deeper into the picture.

12. This is the most effective step in each lesson. Clean up your sketch with an eraser, removing unnecessary lines, and sharpen the edges of the drawing with an outline stroke. This will move the image further away from the background. Complete the cast shadows on the left side of the box and inside the box, away from the light source.

I always encourage you to have fun with the tutorial by adding as many extra details, neat little ideas as your creative mind can come up with to bring the drawing to life. I put a few small items in the box so they were barely visible. Notice how even these small details add flavor to the sketch.

LESSON 5: PRACTICAL TASK

Speaking of extra details that enhance your drawing, let's modernize the lesson with a cardboard box, shall we? How about a treasure chest overflowing with pearls and coins? We are so dissatisfied with today's economy, mortgage payments, loans and taxes... So let's portray our own wealth!

1. Start with a basic cube shape, just tilt the sides a little. Now indicate the guide lines and label them for better memorization.

2. Draw two parallel lines, slightly opening the lid of the treasure chest.

3. Using the lines you've already drawn as a guide (sound familiar?), draw the top edge of the lid in a northwest direction.

4. Now draw the near curved edge of the lid.

5. Using the lines already drawn (am I repeating myself?), draw the top edge of the lid in a northwest direction, but slightly lower. This is necessary so that, ultimately, all these lines of the same direction converge at one point. I will explain this vanishing point concept in great detail in one of the following lessons. For now, just follow me and angle your lines a little lower.

6. Now draw two inner lines. This is our “BAM!” 3D effect, you must love this moment!

7. Vary your drawing. Erase all the extra lines, place the light source and shade the opposite surface, the inside of the chest and add a drop shadow. Enjoy drawing additional details. Fill your chest with money, gems, pearls and whatever your heart desires!

Everyone loves gifts, and those who say they don’t like them secretly buy them and give them to themselves. Winter time is a paradise for gifts of different sizes and purposes. It is in winter that you will spend more money on gifts than you could otherwise spend on gifts. And if you are a child, then you are completely in heaven, since you don’t even need to do anything, just write a letter to no one and give it to your mom or dad without any fuss. And here we find out how to draw a gift using a pencil. After all, there is a good excuse: the best gift is made with your own hands.

A gift is something wrapped in paper that often provokes outbursts of happiness, fear, bewilderment and various forebodings. In addition, the gift can be completely intangible, such as hitting a sack of potatoes from around the corner or a free trip to the Caribbean for . Most often, a gift is of no value, and its purpose is to provide pleasure from observing the reaction of the person who received it. It is best to give something that you can use later (racist Jewish saying). And it’s even better to give food, because according to the unwritten laws of God, there is a 98% chance that such a gift will be shared with you. Also, a gift is a way to raise your status, as effective as the most expensive invisible panties in the world or an uncharged magic wand. And lovely women also know a lot about gifts. They do not clearly know what they want, but they are sure that others should know it.

What can you give, unusual gifts:

  • Its place in the cemetery;
  • Your phone or wallet (sometimes they are taken away by force);
  • A box of air (although it is better not to give such creativity to someone who cannot appreciate the beauty of this gesture);
  • Marked money (for bribe takers);
  • Licensed software (for computer scientists);
  • Disc with a set of the best thieves of the 90s (for cool guys);
  • Venereal diseases;
  • A machine (economic option: washing or sewing);
  • Give warmth and joy (recommended by doctors for loved ones);
  • What gifts do you usually give? Answers in the comments!

In the meantime, I’ll show you drawing instructions.
