Methodical techniques: text analysis, teacher's commentary, commented reading.

During the classes:

    Updating knowledge.

Teacher: In the previous lesson we started talking about the novel by M.Yu. Lermontov "Hero of Our Time".

??? Let's remember what new we learned?

(- history of creation;

- genre;

- composition).

Formulating the lesson topic and goals:

??? What will we talk about in today's lesson?

(- analysis of the story “Bela”;

- a story about the personality of the main character of the novel Grigory Aleksandrovich Pechorin)

??? How can you formulate the topic of today's lesson?

Subject: “A Hero of Our Time” is a novel about an extraordinary personality. Mysteries of the image of Pechorin in the story “Bela”

??? What goals can you set for yourself?

- identify Pechorin's character traits

- get a first idea about Pechorin, understand his actions;

- draw up a portrait of the hero based on the story “Bela”.

And also answerproblematic question: ?Pechorin. Who is he?

    Working with epigraphs:

I will offer you several epigraphs for the lesson: this is an excerpt from a poem by M.Yu. Lermontov’s “Duma”, words by Pechorin from the novel “Hero of Our Time”, words by the famous critic V.G. Belinsky, read them.

And we hate and we love by chance,

Without sacrificing anything, neither anger nor love,

And some secret cold reigns in the soul,

When fire boils in the blood.

"Duma" M.Yu. Lermontov

Why did I live? For what purpose was I born?.. And, it’s true, it existed, and, it’s true, there was a purpose for me….

“Hero of Our Time” “Princess Mary” M.Yu. Lermontov

This person carries his suffering: he madly chases life, looking for it everywhere; he bitterly blames himself for his errors.

V.G. Belinsky

These are epigraphs to the image of Pechorin.

??? Which one is more suitable for the image of the hero, choose for yourself. We will return to them at the end of the lesson.

Work based on the story "Bela".

Continue the sentence: “I read the story “Bela” and...”

Teacher : I see that you have many questions, but there are no answers to them yet. Some pages caused you bewilderment and doubt.

But the main thing is that the center of our attention is Pechorin (the name is posted on the boardPECHORIN).

PECHORIN

We will analyze the image of Pechorin using an unusual method:THROUGH THE PRISM.

??? What is a prism?

A prism is a geometric figure. Device for refracting rays.

In the same way, we will pass Pechorin’s behavior and actions through the heart and soul of the heroes as through a prism.

To help you better understand the content of the story, to better understand the image of the main character, we will go on a trip to the Caucasus, and M.Yu. Lermontov will be our assistant. Our journey begins.

Stills from the film. movie No. 1

So, 1837, Caucasus, Georgian Military Road.

??? Along the way, who do we meet?

(officer, staff - captain Maxim Maksimych (The name MAXIM MAKSIMYCH is posted on the board)

MAXIM MAKSIMYCH

What have we learned about him? Who wants to talk about Maxim Maksimych?

(Maksim Maksimych seemed to be about fifty years old: his dark complexion showed that he had long been familiar with the Caucasian sun; his prematurely gray mustache did not match his firm gait and cheerful appearance.

He was wearing an officer's frock coat without epaulettes and a Circassian shaggy hat; he smoked from a small Kabardian pipe, trimmed in silver).

??? Let's look at Pechorin through the eyes of Maxim Maksimovich. So how does Maxim Maksimych see Pechorin?

Characteristics of G.A. Pechorin

Appearance

Officer, a young man of about twenty-five. He was thin, white, and wore a brand new uniform.

Maxim Maksimych about Pechorin

“He was a nice guy, I dare to assure you; just a little strange. After all, for example, in the rain, in the cold, hunting all day; everyone will be cold and tired - but nothing to him. And another time he sits in his room, smells the wind, assures him that he has a cold; knock on the shutter, he will tremble and turn pale...”

Pechorin about himself

“I became bored: pleasures were disgusting, society was boring, love was annoying, my heart was empty, science was also boring.”

“Life is emptier day by day.”

“My soul is corrupted by light.”

“Am I a fool or a villain, I don’t know; but it is true that I am also very worthy of pity, perhaps more than she: my soul is spoiled by light, my imagination is restless, my heart is insatiable; I can’t get enough of it: I get used to sadness just as easily as to pleasure, and my life becomes emptier day by day...”

Conclusion

G.A. Pechorin is the culprit and victim of the tragedy.

He is worthy of pity (pity, compassion).

??? Explain what is Pechorin’s strangeness?

Strangeness - unusualness in actions, habits, views

???? What character trait of G. Pechorin do these lines speak about?

1. “In the rain, in the cold, hunting all day; everyone will be cold, tired - but nothing to him..."

(strong, resilient).

“Another time he sits in his room, smells the wind, assures him that he has a cold; knock on the shutters, he will tremble and turn pale.”(weak, defenseless; confusion, fear)

“...went to fight a wild boar one on one.” (courage, fearlessness)

“...it happened that you couldn’t get a word through for hours at a time...” (silent, taciturn)

“...but sometimes when he starts telling you, you’ll burst your stomach with laughter.”

(cheerful, sociable)

CONCLUSION:

On the one hand - strong, hardy, brave, fearless, sociable, cheerful

On the other hand - weak, defenseless, confusion, fear, silent, loneliness

???? What does this mean? (About contradictory character)

??? How was Pechorin’s life in the fortress, how did Maxim Maksimych decide to entertain Grigory Alexandrovich? (I decided to invite him to the wedding of a familiar prince, where Pechorin liked the daughter of Prince Bel).

5.Work in groups

For further work you need to choose colored leaves (leaves of the following colors: white, black, yellow, red)

Students choose colored leaves.

????? Now unite by color, i.e. We got groups.

Assignment: tell how the relationship between Pechorin and Bela developed. But each group tells from its own point of view.

Group 1 – WHITE

You have chosen white. The color white brings to mind paper, a white blank sheet of paper. In this mode of thinking we are only interested in facts, that is, we look at everything only from the point of view of facts and figures. You paint a picture of the relationships between the characters IMPARTIALLY.

Sample answer: So, Pechorin, seeing Bela at the wedding where he and Maxim Maksimych were invited, was captivated by her unusual beauty and the mystery that made him think about the possibility of winning Bela’s heart.

Having found an approach to Azamat, Bela’s brother, promising him in exchange for his sister the horse Kazbich Karagyoz, which Azamat had long dreamed of, Pechorin without much effort gets Bela.

To win Bela over, Pechorin uses all means: he showers her with gifts, offers to let her go home if she loves someone else, begs her to love him, and finally threatens that he will leave forever and seek death under bullets.

Pechorin achieved his goal: Bela fell in love with him, but Pechorin himself very soon lost interest in her (only 4 months passed). Bela's sadness and reproaches only caused him irritation.

Bela finds out that Kazbich killed her father. One day, when Bela left the fortress for a walk to the river, Kazbich waylaid her, took her away, and when he saw that Pechorin and Maxim Maksimych were overtaking him, he dealt Bela a fatal blow with a dagger. Two days later Bela died.

Maxim Maksimych and Pechorin buried Bela. Kazbich and Azamat were not seen again. After this, Pechorin leaves, and Maxim Maksimych remains. That's the whole simple and rather ordinary story of a mountain woman and a Russian officer. This is the only way it could end.

Group 2 – RED

Red color allows us to look at everything that happened only on an EMOTIONAL level.

Sample answer:Love is the most wonderful feeling; it cannot be approved or condemned. It’s wonderful that Pechorin fell in love with Bela. It was impossible not to fall in love with her: “tall, thin, black eyes, like those of a mountain chamois, they looked into your soul,” - says Maxim Maksimych. “How she dances! How he sings! And he embroiders with gold - a miracle!” - Azamat praises her.

Pechorin - Well done! He knows how to approach a woman, how to win her favor. One can only admire him. His generosity knows no bounds - he showered Bela with gifts. He is eloquent, subtle in his manners, smart, resourceful, he is one of those men who always appeal to women.

Bela is truly amazing: she cries and laughs, is sad and dances, in fear for Pechorin’s life she jumps up and throws herself on his neck. Pechorin reproaches that he stopped loving his “Dzhanya”, but at the same time “she became so prettier that it’s a miracle.”

Has Pechorin stopped loving Bela, no, but he loves calmer, colder; Bela’s love is no longer enough for him to fill his life. But this is understandable: love is not always the same, it develops and changes.

Pechorin's love for Bela ended tragically. But love and death are always very close to each other. Oh, how Pechorin was worried: he turned pale, lost weight, but you can’t suffer forever - life is life. It seems to us: a person like Pechorin will definitely meet another love on his way and will be happy. In life, everything is merged together: both joy and suffering. Man is emotional by nature, therefore, all kinds of movements of the soul are characteristic of him.

Group 3 – BLACK

Let's look at the events through dark glasses and see that everything is very BAD and TRAGIC. There is not a single bright moment in the relationship between Pechorin and Bela.

Sample answer:

Of course, Pechorin did not love Bela and could not love him. Nothing could ever come of this relationship: they are too different, many things separate them. Pechorin is burdened by their relationship immediately after Bela’s kidnapping. He spent too much energy trying to win her over. Love is always suffering, tragedy.

Pechorin suffers first from love for Bela, then from disappointment in love, then from Bela’s obsession, then from the fact that he has lost his freedom. It seems to us that he was glad when he was freed from the captivity of his relationship with Bela.

Bela in this whole story also looks unworthy: she flirts with the Russian officer, violating the customs of her people, she too quickly gives in to Pechorin, humiliatingly says: “I am your captive... your slave... you can force me...”. But Pechorin is attracted not by a slave, but by a proud woman.

Bela forgets her brother too quickly, cries for a short time about her father, and regrets that she is not a Christian, i.e. wants to renounce his faith.

Pechorin was not very sad about Bel. “His face did not express anything special,” and he reacted to Maxim Maksimych’s consolations in the spirit of his character: “he raised his head and laughed.” He leaves and forgets this story. That's how it should have been.

Group 4 – YELLOW

How scary it would be to live in the world if all people always wore only black and were pessimists. But, fortunately, in life, in addition to the shadow, there is also the sun, and in addition to anger, there is good. And in the darkest situation you can see something POSITIVE, OPTIMISTIC. Let's look at the color yellow, the color of the sun, and the sun can be found even where there was once shadow.

Sample answer:

What is positive about the relationship between Pechorin and Bela? Firstly, the appearance of Bela in his life created at least some purpose. We believe that Bela, albeit temporarily, made his happiness. And a person should feel happy at some point.

Pechorin needs the love of a young, pure being; this feeling will enrich his inner world, cleanse his soul, and make him think not only about himself. "Yes, they were happy" - says Maxim Maksimych. For four months everything went well: Pechorin didn’t even go hunting, he sat next to Bela.

Feelings awoke in Pechorin that he, perhaps, had not known about before: compassion, pity, tenderness; Bela's illness and death filled his entire being with care and love.

His grief is sincere, although it does not resemble the usual manifestation of human feelings. We think that he also developed a feeling of remorse: he was sick for a long time, lost weight and turned pale. This story revealed the best qualities of Pechorin's soul.

Bela's love for Pechorin also demonstrates her best human and feminine traits. Her behavior in this whole story forces Maxim Maksimych, who had a low opinion of mountain women, to “respect himself, and with him the women of his people.” Bela knows how to love passionately and forever: Pechorin alone makes up the meaning of her life. Not every girl can love like that. Bela was able to defeat Pechorin: an illiterate savage who lived by love alone, subordinate to her master-lover, before her death turns out to be a proud woman, full of human dignity.

??? This method of observing the same situation gives us WHAT? Draw a conclusion?

CONCLUSION: We looked at the same situation from all sides. We are all different and it is important to take into account everyone’s opinion and listen to everyone.

Let's return to the main character - Grigory Aleksandrovich Pechorin.

??? Use stickers to identify one main character trait. Justify your choice (We put stickers on the board with the name PECHORIN).

Assignment: Make a table of contradictions in Pechorin’s character, in which you will reflect which traits of the hero appeal to you and which ones repel you.

Fearlessness

The ability to have ardent, deep feeling

Kindness, attentive attitude (if desired) towards another person

Adventurism

Impermanence

Quick mood changes

Selfishness

Indifference

Stills from the film. film No. 3 (Play for 2 min. 34 sec.)

CONCLUSION: Here we have a portrait of Pechorin with contradictions in character. Who is Pechorin?

You will find the answer to this question by reading the entire novel.

Teacher: At the end of the lesson, I would like to read Margarita Myslyakova’s poem “Reading the “Hero of Our Time”

How can a person be black?
and painfully disgusting!
No, I don't like Pechorin,
whose image was held at school.

I want people to be white
men so that at least
did not leave poor Bela,
did not humiliate tender Mary.

And sometimes I dream like that
really prove your thesis:
bad hero Lermontov
drew it, albeit brilliantly.

But the world of my assessment is small,
My approach is not entirely familiar.
Pechorin, they will say, is interesting,
Pechorin, they will say, is cute!

Answer directly, without deception:
Is the positive type in use?
Good heroes in novels
boring and stilted at times.

And the reader’s gaze is blinkered,
all subordinated to sensitive topics.
And many people like Pechorin -
This demon is unenlightened.

LET'S SUM UP. REFLECTION.

This is the portrait we got of Pechorin. What epigraph would you choose for our lesson? Has he changed since taking the lesson?

So, we looked at the image of Pechorin through the prism of other heroes and us readers, some like him, some understand him, and some have a negative attitude towards him, accusing him of all crimes. However, we cannot judge Pechorin by only one chapter. Maybe, by analyzing the next chapters of the novel “A Hero of Our Time,” you will change your attitude towards the hero, or maybe not.

Grading.

Homework: read the stories “Maksim Maksimych”, “Taman”. Answer the question: what new do we learn about Pechorin from these stories?

Pechorin is a controversial personality

The image of Pechorin in the novel “Hero of Our Time” by Lermontov is an ambiguous image. It cannot be called positive, but it is not negative either. Many of his actions are reprehensible, but it is also important to understand the motives for his behavior before making a judgment. The author called Pechorin a hero of his time not because he recommended emulating him, and not because he wanted to ridicule him. He simply showed a portrait of a typical representative of that generation - a “superfluous person” - so that everyone could see what a social system that disfigures the individual leads to.

Qualities of Pechorin

Knowledge of people

Can Pechorin’s quality of understanding the psychology of people and the motives of their actions be called bad? Another thing is that he uses it for other purposes. Instead of doing good and helping others, he plays with them, and these games, as a rule, end tragically. This is exactly the ending of the story with the mountain woman Bela, whom Pechorin persuaded her brother to steal. Having achieved the love of a freedom-loving girl, he lost interest in her, and soon Bela fell victim to the vengeful Kazbich.

Playing with Princess Mary also did not lead to anything good. Pechorin's intervention in her relationship with Grushnitsky resulted in the princess's broken heart and Grushnitsky's death in a duel.

Ability to analyze

Pechorin demonstrates his brilliant ability to analyze in a conversation with Dr. Werner (chapter “Princess Mary”). He quite accurately logically calculates that Princess Ligovskaya was interested in him, and not her daughter Mary. “You have a great gift for thought,” Werner notes. However, this gift again does not find worthy use. Pechorin might have been able to make scientific discoveries, but he became disillusioned with the study of science because he saw that in his society no one needed knowledge.

Independence from the opinions of others

The description of Pechorin in the novel “A Hero of Our Time” gives many a reason to accuse him of spiritual callousness. It would seem that he acted badly towards his old friend Maxim Maksimych. Having learned that his colleague, with whom he had eaten more than a pound of salt, was staying in the same city, Pechorin did not rush to meet him. Maxim Maksimych was very upset and offended by him. However, Pechorin is essentially to blame only for not living up to the old man’s expectations. “Am I really not the same?” - he reminded, nevertheless hugging Maxim Maksimych in a friendly manner. Indeed, Pechorin never tries to pretend to be someone he is not, just to please others. He prefers to be rather than seem, he is always honest in expressing his feelings, and from this point of view, his behavior deserves all approval. He also doesn’t care what others say about him - Pechorin always acts as he sees fit. In modern conditions, such qualities would be invaluable and would help him quickly achieve his goal and fully realize himself.

Bravery

Bravery and fearlessness are character traits thanks to which one could say “Pechorin is a hero of our time” without any ambiguity. They appear both on the hunt (Maksim Maksimych witnessed how Pechorin “went to kill a boar one on one”), and in a duel (he was not afraid to shoot with Grushnitsky on conditions that were obviously unfavorable for him), and in a situation where it was necessary to pacify the raging drunken Cossack (chapter “Fatalist”). “... nothing worse will happen than death - and you cannot escape death,” Pechorin believes, and this conviction allows him to move forward more boldly. However, even the mortal danger that he faced every day in the Caucasian War did not help him cope with boredom: he quickly got used to the buzzing of Chechen bullets. Obviously, military service was not his vocation, and therefore Pechorin’s brilliant abilities in this area did not find further application. He decided to travel in the hope of finding a cure for boredom “with the help of storms and bad roads.”

Self-love

Pechorin cannot be called vain, greedy for praise, but he is quite proud. It hurts him very much if a woman does not consider him the best and prefers someone else. And he strives with all his might, by any means, to win her attention. This happened in the situation with Princess Mary, who first liked Grushnitsky. From Pechorin’s analysis, which he himself does in his journal, it follows that it was important for him not so much to achieve the love of this girl as to recapture her from his competitor. “I also confess that an unpleasant, but familiar feeling ran slightly through my heart at that moment; this feeling was envy... It is unlikely that there will be a young man who, having met a pretty woman who has attracted his idle attention and suddenly clearly distinguishes another person equally unfamiliar to her, I am unlikely, I say, to find such a young man (of course, he has lived in the great world and accustomed to pampering his pride), who would not be unpleasantly struck by this.”

Pechorin loves to achieve victory in everything. He managed to switch Mary’s interest to himself, make the proud Bela his mistress, get a secret meeting from Vera, and outplay Grushnitsky in a duel. If he had a worthy cause, this desire to be first would allow him to achieve enormous success. But he has to give vent to his leadership inclinations in such a strange and destructive way.

Selfishness

In an essay on the topic “Pechorin - a hero of our time,” one cannot help but mention such a trait of his character as selfishness. He does not really care about the feelings and fates of other people who have become hostages of his whims; all that matters to him is the satisfaction of his own needs. Pechorin did not even spare Vera, the only woman he believed he really loved. He put her reputation at risk by visiting her at night in the absence of her husband. A striking illustration of his disdainful, selfish attitude is his beloved horse, which he drove, and was unable to catch up with the carriage with the departing Vera. On the way to Essentuki, Pechorin saw that “instead of a saddle, two ravens were sitting on his back.” Moreover, Pechorin sometimes enjoys the suffering of others. He imagines how Mary, after his incomprehensible behavior, “will spend the night without sleep and cry,” and this thought gives him “immense pleasure.” “There are moments when I understand the Vampire...” he admits.

Pechorin’s behavior is the result of the influence of circumstances

But can this bad character trait be called innate? Is Pechorin initially vicious or was he made so by the conditions of his life? This is what he himself told Princess Mary: “... this has been my fate since childhood. Everyone read on my face signs of bad feelings that were not there; but they were anticipated - and they were born. I was modest - I was accused of deceit: I became secretive... I was ready to love the whole world - no one understood me: and I learned to hate... I told the truth - they didn’t believe me: I began to deceive... I became a moral cripple.”

Finding himself in an environment that does not correspond to his inner essence, Pechorin is forced to break himself, to become what he really is not. This is where this internal contradiction comes from, which left its mark on his appearance. The author of the novel paints a portrait of Pechorin: laughter with unlaughing eyes, a bold and at the same time indifferently calm look, a straight figure, limp, like that of Balzac’s young lady when he sat down on the bench, and other “inconsistencies.”

Pechorin himself is aware that he makes an ambiguous impression: “Some people consider me worse, others better than I really am... Some will say: he was a kind fellow, others – a scoundrel. Both will be false.” But the truth is that, under the influence of external circumstances, his personality underwent such complex and ugly deformations that it is no longer possible to separate the bad from the good, the real from the false.

In the novel “A Hero of Our Time,” the image of Pechorin is a moral, psychological portrait of an entire generation. How many of its representatives, not finding a response to the “beautiful impulses of the soul” in those around them, were forced to adapt, become the same as everyone around, or die. The author of the novel, Mikhail Lermontov, whose life ended tragically and prematurely, was one of them.

Work test

"Bela" - Portrait of Pecherin through the eyes of Maxim Maksimych:“A young man of about twenty-five. He was so thin, white, his uniform was so new.” “He was a nice guy, just a little strange.” He could endure a bad day hunting, but catch a cold from a draft; went to hunt a wild boar alone, but “if he knocked on the shutter, he would tremble and turn pale”; could remain silent for hours, or could be the life of the party. He knows how to play on people’s weaknesses. He uses Azamat’s love for money and the desire to have the horse Kazbich to achieve his goal (the kidnapping of Bela). He is stubborn, selfish, and goes along with his desires. He tries to win Bela’s love at all costs and makes a bet with Maxim Maksimych. To the reproach about Bela he responds: “What if I like her?

"" Apparently, in childhood he was spoiled by his mother" (Maksim Maksimych about Pechorin) He has a changeable nature, cannot find his place in life. "Ignorance and simple-heartedness" of Bela tired of Pechorin, as before the "coquetry of society ladies." He is "bored" and under "Chechen bullets". He considers traveling to exotic countries - America, India, Arabia - a way out.

“Perhaps I’ll die somewhere on the road” Remains a mysterious figure for Maxim Maksimych. Maxim Maksimych does not understand Pechorin’s reaction to Bela’s death - in response to consolations, Pechorin laughs.

“After all, there really are some people who have it written in their nature that all sorts of extraordinary things should happen to them.” "Maksim Maksimych" Portrait of Pechorin through the eyes of the author-narrator Attractive appearance, strong physique “His slender, thin frame and broad shoulders proved a strong build, capable of enduring all the difficulties of nomadic life and climate change, not defeated by either the debauchery of metropolitan life or spiritual storms.” Aristocratic features. Thin pale fingers, delicate skin, pale, noble forehead. “Despite the light color of his hair, his mustache and eyebrows were black - a sign of the breed in a person” The elusiveness of the image “At first glance at his face, I would not give him more than twenty-three years, although after that I was ready to give him thirty” Extraordinary eyes . Pechorin's eyes did not laugh when he laughed - "a sign of either an evil disposition or deep, constant sadness."

The shine of his eyes is “dazzling, but cold.” “His gaze was short, but penetrating and heavy, leaving the unpleasant impression of an immodest question and could have seemed impudent if he had not been so indifferently calm.” "Taman" The tragedy of Pechorin's personality lies in the gap between reason and feelings. Symbolic in this regard in the finale of “Tamani” is the figure of the crying blind boy Yanko, abandoned by everyone.

Pechorin finds himself in the same position when living life, beckoning, leaves him with nothing.

“A Hero of Our Time” is a classic of Russian literature. This work touches on the theme of the vices of society, which are revealed through the image of an “extra” person. The main character of Lermontov's work is a handsome, intelligent officer who has a strong, purposeful personality and invariably.

However, despite all his advantages, he cannot find his place, rushes in different directions, thereby, at times, destroying the fates of the people around him and the women who love him. It is described so vividly and realistically that it evokes sincere emotions.

Portrait of Pechorin in the chapter “Bela”

We get the first impression of the main character through the eyes of Maxim Maksimych; it is he who helps us see how Pechorin appears before us in the chapter “Bela”. Grigory Pechorin here is an ardent, passionate man who achieves his beloved Bela, using rather risky and not always honest methods. He destroys the girl’s family, steals her away by deception, showing his prudence and some cruelty. At a certain moment, he sincerely believes that this is what will save him from the eternal boredom of life. However, he not only takes the girl to him, but also, although he himself subsequently loses his feelings for her.

Bela becomes a kind of goal for Pechorin, and having achieved it, he cools down. Until the girl’s death, he tries to surround her with his feelings, but the heart cannot be deceived, and poor Bela dies with a heavy heart, feeling unloved and unhappy. At the same time, sincere human emotions still live in Gregory, because he really suffers, though not for very long.

The image of Pechorin in the chapter “Maksim Maksimych”

This story, according to chronology, should complete the novel, but it, of course, takes its right place, because the way Pechorin appears before us in the chapter “Maksim Maksimych” shows how much the events that will occur further have influenced his personality. through the description of the hero himself.

Gregory's character noticeably hardens, he becomes rude, harsh and completely indifferent. When meeting someone whom he has not seen for so long, he does not show any feelings, as if he despises all sentimentality.

The character of the main character in the chapter “Taman”

The way Pechorin appears before us in the chapter “Taman” is sharply different from his usual state of boredom and disappointment. Having met an unusual beauty smuggler, he, like a child, is drawn to this unusual and like a fairy-tale person. He turns into a dreamy young man who is looking for adventure and something completely new.

However, after he was deceived, robbed and almost killed, Gregory reproaches himself for this weakness, and the image already familiar to the reader returns to us.

Portrait of Gregory in the chapter “Princess Mary”

Looking at the hero with a superficial glance, it is quite difficult to understand how Pechorin appears before us in the chapter “Princess Mary”. Only when we are completely immersed in the story do we begin to notice that it is as if two different people live in Gregory, who interfere with each other’s lives, leading to disastrous consequences.

The passionate, calculating and narcissistic half of the hero makes him fall in love with the pure and innocent Princess Mary. As in the case of Bela, this is just a goal for him, having achieved which, he loses all interest in the girl. He is attracted to the game, in which he constantly changes masks, without ever letting him know his true essence. Having captured the girl’s heart, Pechorin breaks it and leaves the game, because from the very beginning he did not need this relationship at all.

But the reasonable, living half of the hero, like a conscience, awakens in him sincere feelings of compassion and emotion. It is they who encourage him to meet Lera, the only woman who knew him for who he really is, and at the same time loves him with all her heart. When she leaves, we manage to see Gregory’s real emotions, perhaps the only ones in the entire chapter.

The image of the main character in the chapter “Fatalist”

Another facet of the hero’s personality is vividly revealed to us in the way Pechorin appears to us in the chapter “Fatalist.” As we know, life is a game for him, but only at the end do we see that Gregory is able to take aim at the game with death.

He does this for real in order to neutralize a dangerous killer, but he does it not with good intentions, but in order to once again feel the thrill and test his destiny. He risks his life without giving it any value.

Grigory Aleksandrovich Pechorin has a strong spirit and extraordinary abilities, the use of which he never manages to find. As the novel progresses, he comes to realize that his strong, restless nature brings only misfortune to the people around him. And just think about what accomplishments a person with such intelligence, physical abilities and a rich soul was capable of if he could find his place in life.

Even in the preface, Lermontov says that his image is collective and belongs not to one person, but to an entire society, which makes the reader think about his own fate.

The image of Pechorin through the prism of heroes. The story "Bela".

Target:

Get a first idea about Pechorin, understand his actions, draw up a portrait of the hero based on the story “Bela”, find in the story “Bela” the reasons for the tragedy of Grigory Pechorin.

DURING THE CLASSES

I Organizational moment. (stood up, said hello, introduced herself). I am glad that we met today, I think that during the lesson we will work together and become friends.

II Video film screening (excerpt “Climbing the mountain of screening - 1 minute”)

III The teacher's word. Guys, from this short passage you guessed what work and characters will be discussed in today’s lesson. So, name the work and the main character? (Novel by M.Yu. Lermontov “Hero of Our Time”, Grigory Aleksandrovich Pechorin).

Write down the topic of today's lesson in your notebooks. The image of Pechorin through the prism of heroes. The story "Bela". (slide No. 1 topic of the lesson).

Today we will discover for ourselves the image of the hero, we will understand his actions, we will draw up a portrait of the hero through the relationships of other characters to him. (slide No. 2 with lesson objectives).

“Duma” M.Yu. Lermontov

...Why did I live? For what purpose was I born?...And, it’s true, it existed, and, it’s true, there was a purpose for me….

"Hero of Our Time" "Princess Mary"

"M.Yu. Leromntov

This person carries his suffering: he madly chases life, looking for it everywhere; he bitterly blames himself for his errors.

V.G. Belinsky

(slide No. 3,4,5 with epigraphs).

These are epigraphs to the image of Pechorin, which of them is more suitable for the image of the hero.

Let us turn to the text “I was traveling on cross-trains...”

What did M.M say?

So, in the center of our attention is Pechorin (I hang his name on the board), and who tells us the story about Pechorin (M.M. on the board), and what story is M.M. telling us? (Bela). And I would like to hear your opinion about the hero? (reader)

Unexpectedly, what is a prism? A prism is a geometric figure. Device for refracting rays. In the same way, we will pass Pechorin’s behavior and actions through the heart and soul of the heroes as through a prism.

Work with text

Photo of Pechorin

Who first introduces us to Pechorin? (Maxim Maksisych). Read what Maxim Maksimych says about Pechorin’s appearance? (slide officer, a young man of about 25; he was so thin and white).

This is a young man, an officer who came to serve in the Caucasus.

What is unusual about him that surprises Maxim Maksimych? Pechorin's description is based on the technique of contrast. (one is opposed to the other). So how does Maxim Maxima see Pechorin?

(strong - weak, strange - nice, withdrawn - cheerful)

What do these oddities in character indicate? (he is the same, does Pechorin behave the same in situations?) (inconsistency in character).

How was Pechorin’s life in the fortress, how did Maxim Maksimych decide to entertain Grigory Alexandrovich? (I decided to invite him to the wedding of a familiar prince, where Pechorin liked the daughter of Prince Bel). What thought did Pechorin have after returning to the fortress? (steal Bela, exchanging her for the horse of the robber Kazbich).

And here is Bela in the fortress. How do you feel about this action? Why did he do this? This means that Pechorin is pursuing only his own interests.

And what about Pechorin? ( At first he sought Bela’s love, and then he became uninterested) Why? Let's watch a video clip (I have only one option left - travel).

Fragment comment(auditory and visual memory works)

And what Pechorin himself says about himself, how he tries to explain the reason his behavior? (he says that he wasn’t always like this, he could love, and suffer, and feel, but it turns out that society doesn’t need real feelings, Pechorin closed himself off, he began to hide his feelings, he put on some kind of mask, he’s bored because that he is an intelligent, deeply sensitive person, feels subtly, sees falsehood, hypocrisy, but cannot correct anything, he suffers from this).

What new do we learn about Pechorin, why does he think that he has an unhappy character? (Pechorin’s story about his former life). Why do you think Maxim Maksimych does not understand Pechorin? (M.M. is an old officer, a kind but limited person, he cannot comprehend the soul of a person, he looks only superficially at events.)

Maybe Pechorin's revelations will help explain his actions to us.

How did the story with Bela end (she died)

How do Maxim Maksimych and Pechorin behave after Bela’s death?

(M.M., like an ordinary person, mourns Bela)

Working with text (blank)

Pechorin, according to M.M., behaved strangely. Read the episode about Pechorin’s behavior? (episode in which Pechorin laughed in Maksim Maksimych’s eyes)

My beloved girl has died, why is Pechorin laughing? Maybe he no longer felt sorry for Bela, he didn’t know what to do with her, and God helped?

How can you characterize Pechorin’s behavior, why did he act this way? (tried to defend himself, hides his powerlessness behind laughter, puts on a mask)

Do you understand Pechorin? What kind of person is Pechorin?

Pechorin's trial

Pechorin is a terrible person, there is nothing human in him (to clarify, he lives by his own interests), he was not worried that Bela died

Defenders (he loved Bela), worried

You can argue for a long time, because there are many contradictions in the image of Pechorin. What will the judges tell us?

For judges Pechorin is a contradictory person, he is young, but already disappointed in life, he is looking for something, However, his behavior is not clear to others.

I propose to compile a table of contradictions in Pechorin’s character

Make a table showing which traits of the hero appeal to you and which ones repel you. (slide number 16 with an empty table)

Here we have a portrait of Pechorin with contradictions in character. Who is Pechorin? Fool or villain? You will find the answer to this question by reading the entire novel.

Lesson summary

This is the portrait we got of Pechorin. Now let’s return to the epigraphs, which one do you think most accurately reflects the portrait of Pechorin and why? (it seems to me that the poem “Duma”, because it is built on comparison, on contradiction, like Pechorin’s personality)

Thank you for your work in class, it was a pleasure working with you. Your grades for the lesson are as follows: (giving and commenting on grades).

Homework:

I will ask two questions, the first is easier and the second is for students who are aiming for a high grade.

  1. What new did you learn about Pechorin from the chapter “Maksim Maksimych”?
  2. Through whose eyes do we see Pechorin in the novel?
