The images of strong women in the novel are bummers. Female images in Goncharov Oblomov's novel, essay with outline. Olga's rationality of love

Critics note that I. A. Goncharov is “a pure and independent artist, an artist by vocation and for the full value of what he has done. He is a realist, but his realism is constantly warmed by deep poetry...” It seems that this statement is quite true for the entire system of images in the novel “Oblomov”, and for female images in particular. Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Matveevna are especially interesting. These women played a significant role in the life of the main character of the work. We can say that they embody two ideals, two ideas about a woman.

Olga is that bright, joyful thing that was in the life of Ilya Ilyich Oblomov. Without her, without her drama, readers could not understand the hero. Ilyinskaya is an unusually deep and subtle nature. It was Olga who was able to see Oblomov’s wonderful qualities, to realize that he was “illuminated through love.” It is no coincidence that the image of Olga Ilyinskaya attracted the attention of critics. Thus, N.A. Dobrolyubov emphasized that “Olga, in her development, represents the highest ideal that only a Russian artist can now evoke from present-day Russian life.”

Ilyinskaya is not only a clear, bright, sensitive person, but also an extremely integral nature, striking in the harmony of “heart and will.” Throughout the entire work she is true to herself. Having met Oblomov and fallen in love with him, Olga sincerely tries to change his existence, to awaken him to life. The heroine is very unique, people's opinions about her are sometimes diametrically opposed. What some consider an advantage, others consider almost a disadvantage. Thus, Andrei Stolts “spoke to her more willingly and more often than to other women, because she, although unconsciously, followed a simple, natural path of life. No affectation, no coquetry, ... no intent! And a little later, the author notes that some considered her simple, narrow-minded, shallow, because neither sophisticated maxims about life, ... nor read or overheard judgments about music and literature flowed from her tongue...” Probably these are precisely these qualities attracted Ilya Ilyich to Olga. Under her influence, he comes to life, and is even able to perform actions that for him are almost a feat. Oblomov no longer lies down after dinner, goes to the theater with Olga, discusses books with her. But the closer the decisive moment is, the less capable the hero is of it. He refuses her love for the sake of her own happiness. Olga joins her destiny with Andrei Stolts. It is the attitude towards Ilyinskaya that shows how different Ilya Oblomov and Stolz are. If Oblomov is sure that she is that loving woman who is capable of creating a serene life, then Stolz is trying to develop her mind, to cultivate an active principle in her. However, Olga Ilyinskaya is deeper, smarter, more subtle than the people around her. It is no coincidence that at the end of the novel she realizes that her active life with Stolz is probably no less empty and useless than Oblomov’s life.

It seems to me that Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna is the embodiment of a different ideal of a woman. In the life of the main character of the novel “Oblomov”, she played no less significant role than Olga. At first glance, this woman is the complete opposite of Ilyinskaya. Simple, not very educated, Agafya Matveevna knew only a life full of the most ordinary worries. But she, like Olga, had the ability to understand, sympathize and care. Ilya Oblomov struck her not only because “he’s a gentleman, he shines, he sparkles,” but also because he’s kind and gentle! Pshenitsyna “silently accepted responsibilities towards Oblomov.” She completely sincerely cares about him, keeps him at peace, and does not try to change anything about him. She is happy just because she can serve Ilya Ilyich. For Oblomov, Agafya Matveevna is “the ideal of that vast, ocean-like, inviolable peace of life, the picture of which was indelibly etched on his soul in childhood...” Ilya Ilyich does not experience such violent feelings, “his soul was not eager for heights, for exploits,” but he feels unusually calm and comfortable with this woman. We can say that the hero has found his happiness. It’s as if he has returned again to dear Oblomovka, he doesn’t have to worry about anything, care about anything. However, he probably did not forget the high feeling that illuminated his life for a moment. It is no coincidence that he asks Stolz not to tell Olga Ilyinskaya anything about his current life.

Agafya Matveevna only found real life in caring for Ilya Ilyich: “she lived and felt that she lived fully, as she had never lived before...” She prayed to God to “extend Ilya Ilyich’s life,” thinking only about his peace and comfort. Many critics believed that this image was negative, that Pshenitsyna was the personification of the vulgarity and ordinariness of life. But it also contains self-sacrifice, sincerity and kindness. She illuminates Oblomov’s life, albeit differently than Olga Ilyinskaya. Although this light is dim, if it weren’t for it, what would Ilya Ilyich’s existence on the Vyborg side, far from both Stolz and Olga, have turned into! After the death of her beloved Ilya Ilyich, Agafya Matveevna takes care of Andryusha with special tenderness and agrees to give him up to Stoltz to be raised, realizing that “that’s where his real place is.” She does this out of love for her son, in memory of his father.

It seems that it was the image of Agafya Matveevna that served as the source, for example, for the heroine of Chekhov’s story “Darling”. The main character trait of Pshenitsyna is the eternal ability for unnoticed, undemanding love. Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Pshenitsyna, apparently, are united by the fact that they are able to illuminate the lives of other people and give them love. But these women are significantly different from each other. If Olga is the poetry of life, a person moving forward, thirsting for something new, then Agafya Matveevna is the peace dear to the hearts of many, the embodiment of the inviolability of the very way of existence.

I. A. Goncharov managed to create not only realistic, but also bright, psychologically correct female images. This is largely due to the happy literary fate of the work.

(362 words)

I.A. Oblomov in his work created a large-scale picture of the social mood of his era, portrayed a hero whom you condemn, but still sympathize with. This writer’s merit is also enormous in his skillfully drawn female images: not generalized and pale, but bright and lively. Often it is the women in his novels who possess true strength of character and spirit.

Despite the fact that Oblomov spent his entire life on the couch, he was not deprived of female attention. Friend Stolz introduced the main character to Olga Ilyinskaya. This 20-year-old girl is full of grace and harmony. She is devoid of coquetry and the desire to please the opposite sex. The heroine is talented: she sings beautifully. Everything in her appearance suggests that she is constantly thinking, she has a seething thirst to live and act. She is proud, assertive, but at the same time kind and compassionate. With such qualities, 50 years later they went to war as sisters of mercy. Olga’s missionary activity was expressed in the fact that she wanted to “correct” Oblomov, to reshape him in her own, active way for the sake of his own good. But the main character does not want to burn with the girl, therefore, despite their mutual affection, he breaks up with her. For Oblomov, Olga is a deity, an ideal that she will never be able to reach. The heroine, although not ideal, evokes sympathy; her persistent desire to reshape her lover is associated with her inexperience and youthful maximalism: for the sake of good goals, you can remake everything in your own way, regardless of the life truth of others.

Oblomov moves to the Vyborg side, where his relationship with the owner of the house, 30-year-old Agafya Pshenitsyna, begins. For the hero, she is the personification of his native Oblomovka. And externally: plump, healthy, pleasant. And internally: just as calm, simple-minded (even dull in matters not related to the household), bashful, affectionate, homely. Agafya sees her main purpose in farming, so she devotes herself to it with passion and is always doing something, and doesn’t even think about abstract matters. The heroine fell in love with Oblomov for who he is and did not want to change him, which is why their relationship led to a happy ending. He is her deity and ideal, as well as her first love (despite her late husband). Ilya Ilyich fell in love with her because Agafya is down to earth and understandable, you don’t have to reach for her, you don’t have to figure her out.

In the novel “Oblomov” two opposite types of women are drawn, not with two or three strokes, but deeply and boldly. These images are memorable and in no way inferior to men’s. This is the author’s innovation and his great creative success.

27. Female images in the novel “Oblomov” by I. A. Goncharov

Despite the significant volume of the work, there are relatively few characters in the novel. This allows Goncharov to give detailed characteristics of each of them and draw up detailed psychological portraits. The female characters in the novel were no exception. In addition to psychologism, the author widely uses the technique of oppositions and the system of antipodes. Such couples can be called “Oblomov and Stolz” and “Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna.” The last two images are complete opposites of each other, they can safely be called lines that will never intersect - they are simply on different planes. The only thing that unites them is Ilya Ilyich Oblomov.

Olga Ilyinskaya is a young, determined girl. Her demands on life are high, but she herself is ready to put in enough effort to get what she wants. Olga's life is like a stormy river - constantly in motion. Olga will not give up on the task, but she will not waste time on implementing her plans if she sees that the idea is doomed to failure. She is too intelligent to waste her precious time on nonsense. It was her brightness and originality that attracted Oblomov’s attention. Oblomov fell in love with her with that pure, ingenuous and sincere love, of which, of Olga’s entire circle, perhaps he alone is capable. She delighted him, fascinated him and at the same time tired him. She loved herself too much to notice him in her dazzling brilliance. The image of Olga Ilyinskaya is interpreted ambiguously by critics. Some people see in her a worthy synthesis of rationality, education and spirituality. Someone, on the contrary, blames her for superficiality and inability to have high feelings. It seems to me that Olga is an ordinary person striving for comfort and coziness, only her concept of well-being is somewhat different from Oblomov’s. In reality, they turned out to be too different people who had the courage to admit it in time. Why bother torturing each other if it was clear that nothing would come of it? In fact, Stolz is more suitable for Olga, he is a sensible person like herself.

Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna is a completely different image. This is the type of a real Russian woman, mature, conscious, possessing simple worldly wisdom, which can be much more useful than all the treatises on psychology put together. It would never occur to her to neglect the interests of the person living next to her; she would not rush to defend her rights. Perhaps a man will not perform a feat for her sake, but it is next to such a woman that he will feel needed and strong. It would never occur to Agafya Pshenitsyna to try to remake a person. Psychologically, she is much closer to Oblomov, she has that naturalness that helps to guess the secret thoughts of another person. Oblomov finds everything that Olga was deprived of in Agafya.

Olga and Agafya are complete antipodes both in character and lifestyle. But it is no coincidence that Agafya Pshenitsyna appears to replace Olga in Oblomov’s life. Goncharov sincerely believed that life should be described as it is, without embellishment. That is why his works are completely devoid of any didactics; he trusts the reader to make the right judgment about the novel. It seems to me that Goncharov’s heroes, being taken from real life and described without embellishment, are neither “bad” nor “good,” just as an ordinary person cannot be only bad or only good. Olga is young, attractive, smart. Agafya, in turn, is a woman wise in life, her desires are similar to Oblomov’s ideals. She wants simple female happiness and to be able to take care of someone. Oblomov wants to experience that comfort for which he yearned. But Olga has different ideas about happiness, and in this case you can’t judge anyone.

Bykova N. G. I. A. Goncharov’s novel “Oblomov” In 1859, the magazine “Otechestvennye zapiski” published I. A. Goncharov’s novel “Oblomov”. In terms of clarity of problems and conclusions, integrity and clarity of style, compositional completeness and harmony, the novel is the pinnacle of creativity.

I will describe and reveal the main women from Goncharov’s novel Oblomov, what connects these women with each other. The women in this novel have completely different lives, complete opposites, and are united only by their experiences with the hero Oblomov.

Image of Olga Ilyinskaya

The first image of Olga Ilyinskaya is a young, beautiful, intelligent, purposeful girl. Her life is like a stormy river, all the time she is constantly moving forward. Olga lives in harmony with her heart and freedom, while being smart and self-confident. It is Olga who awakens Oblomov and makes him fall in love with her; the hero rushes to her on a date, making grandiose plans for their future together. They have a bright and close spiritual love, but it was not crowned with success. Because of Oblomov's laziness, their relationship ends. He meets another life partner, but remembers him all the time, because they always had something to talk about, she found a kindred spirit in him.

Agafya Pshenitsyna

Let's discuss a different image - Agafya Matveevna Pshenitsyna - a completely opposite female character. Agafya is a real Russian, mature, kind woman of 30 years old. She is a simple person and a wise woman, the thought of neglecting or betraying someone dear to her will never occur to her, Agafya will not defend her positions, there is a man and he is a leader. For her sake, men do not perform feats, but with this woman a man always feels strong and needed. Passion and love did not break out between Agafya and Oblomov at first sight, but he changed her and breathed soul into her and they lived in harmony.

I also want to note these two beautiful women - they are united by simplicity and naturalness, both heroines are hardworking, each only showing their own discretion.

The role of female characters

So, I can conclude that the main female characters played a very important role in Goncharov’s novel Oblomov. They helped to reveal the hero from different sides and look at life with different eyes, and convey to the reader the feelings of love that each character experienced.

Briefly Female images in Oblomov’s novel

Essay: Female images in Oblomov’s novel

Ivan Goncharov wrote a wonderful work called “Oblomov”. In it, he revealed not only the global problems of the spiritual and social life of society, but also touched upon an equally important topic among people - love.

The main characters of the work are Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Pshenitsyna. Both women were in love with the main character of the novel, Ilya Oblomov. But the love and reverent attitude towards the young man in each of the heroines had its own, personal character. It was this difference of feelings that greatly influenced Oblomov’s fate. These two young women are the exact opposite of each other; they have different temperaments, demeanors and inner worlds.

Olga and Agafya are positive, pleasant girls to talk to, attractive and arousing sympathy. The image of Olga Ilyinskaya shows the reader a strong-willed, well-read and purposeful woman. Everything in her appearance and demeanor speaks of her desire to learn and achieve her goals. Olga was not a beauty, but she attracted glances thanks to her graceful gait, slender body, smooth, measured movements, depth of soul and artistry. The girl was raised in a noble family, loved to read, and received a decent education. Olga was serious and practical, she loved to sing. Agafya is the direct opposite of the cheerful and active Olga Ilyinskaya. This young girl, with a curvaceous figure, rounded shape and fair skin, was on the contrary, meek, calm and obedient in nature. Agafya considered it her duty to take care of someone, to be devoted and faithful to her loved one. She grew up in a simple family, was less educated than Olga and considered the thirst for knowledge less important. For Agafya, the main thing is home life and housekeeping.

The main characters of Goncharov’s work “Oblomov” are the image of a native Russian woman of the nineteenth century. Calm and submissive Agafya, she never contradicts the wishes of her husband, always agrees with his opinion and behavior. It’s easy and simple with her, her company is a small world in which you can relax and not think about pressing problems. Agafya, unlike Olga, is happy with her life, does not try to change the world around her, she does not strive to learn something new and unknown. Most readers may think that Pshenitsyna is stupid. But that's not true. If Olga constantly tries to change and stir up Oblomov, then Agafya, on the contrary, in every possible way preserves his measured, routine rhythm of life, which is close to her in spirit.

The image of Olga Ilyinskaya is the direct opposite of the image of Agafya. Her view of the world is similar to the European one, she strives to change the world and is constantly improving in her knowledge. Olga puts household chores and worries about her husband in the background, because in the first place she has the knowledge of a better life and great happiness in the world she created. But, despite all the desire and confrontation with women's responsibilities, at the end of the novel, Olga begins to do household chores and is completely immersed in family life. She is overcome by melancholy and sadness from the constant life with her boring husband, but she does not leave him.

These two women, although different in their background, character and life goals, actually complement each other perfectly, reflecting the power of feminine nature and beauty.

Option 3

The outstanding novel “Oblomov” by the Russian classic Goncharov I.A. deserves the attention of each of us. In the novel, the author combines many contradictory images. The heroes of his works are completely different people, from different walks of life, with different moral and ethical values. Such contradictions allow the reader to analyze and make the right decisions regarding his life too. Since the situations that the heroes face are still relevant today.

The novel describes interesting and vibrant female characters. The image of a woman in a novel always deserves great attention, and this work is no exception. The work features two main female images, lives that are radically different from each other. However, each of the women wants to find true happiness in love.

The image of Olga Ilyinskaya occupies a special place in the novel. This is a young elegant noblewoman. Despite her young age, only 20 years old, the girl is smart and educated, and has the manners of a true lady. Despite the current circumstances, she always behaves with restraint and calm. From a young age, the young lady has been studying music and has a wonderful voice, which makes her even more endearing to the reader. The girl is extremely inquisitive, often spends time reading books, her life does not stand still. The sophistication of the image is betrayed by her seriousness, which is confirmed by the author’s description of her portrait.

On the path of life of a young lady, she meets the main character of the work, Oblomov. Their meeting occurs thanks to a mutual friend Andrei Stolts. He brings Olga Oblomov to the house, from the first minute the main character cannot take his eyes off the young and graceful girl. Her singing fascinates Oblomov, and he almost immediately confesses his love for her. The girl brings him back to life, he forgets about dull everyday life and is ready to change. However, his desire for change disappears at the first difficulties. Despite her love, the girl is not ready to put up with his shortcomings. She wants to see next to her an energetic, cheerful guy who is ready to do great things for her. She sincerely believes that for the sake of love, Oblomov is ready for change, but the necessary changes are not happening.

The main character gets tired of the life the girl lives and begins to doubt her feelings. And he decides to be the first to end this relationship, despite the fact that next to her he is unusually happy, laziness overcomes him. After some time, they meet again and feelings overwhelm them. After a while, the young lady realizes that even for the sake of love, Oblomov is not ready for change and decides to end this relationship.

Despite the fact that the girl is very strong in spirit, the break with Oblomov greatly upsets her. She finds it hard to bear the grief of losing a loved one.

After a failed relationship with Ilyinskaya, the main character becomes close to Agafya Pshenitsyna. Agafya is the complete opposite of Olga. This is a true housewife who surrounds Oblomov with care and attention. She, like the main character, lives a calm and moderate life, raises children, and makes the house cozy. Social life is not important to her, music and literature are not interesting. Agafya, unlike Olga, does not strive to change Ilya Ilyich’s established lifestyle, but on the contrary creates a calm atmosphere around him. Soon Oblomov marries Agafya Pshenitsyna and their son Andryusha is born.

The novel compares two completely different female images, but each evokes the reader’s approval and wins over them. It makes everyone think about what lifestyle they prefer, what life values still play the main role, is it possible to combine the image of two charming ladies?

Denis Ivanovich concerns the periods of life that contribute to the development and formation of children. The minor Mitrofanushka found himself in an unusual position.

I. A. Goncharov in his novel “Oblomov” tells the story of the life of Oblomov, a typical representative of the nobility of his time. The author reveals the character of the main character, including through the depiction of his interaction with other characters. Among other characters, the novel depicts Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Matveevna.

In adulthood, Oblomov avoids communicating with representatives of the fair sex, not wanting to cause himself unnecessary trouble. However, in his early youth, women did not leave the hero indifferent. But this period was very short-lived. This happened “back in that tender time when a person assumes a sincere friend in every other person and falls in love with almost every woman and everyone is ready to offer their hand and heart...”.

In the life of the main character, two women played a significant role: Olga Ilyinskaya and Agafya Matveevna. Olga can rightfully be called an extraordinary person. She is smart, intelligent, interesting. Ilyinskaya does not look like the young ladies of her circle. This is how the author says about her: “Be that as it may, in a rare girl you will find such simplicity and natural freedom of look, word, and action.”

Despite the girl’s many advantages, she is clearly underestimated by those around her. “...She spoke little, and only her own, unimportant ones - and smart and lively “gentlemen” walked around her; the quiet ones, on the contrary, considered her too sophisticated and were a little afraid.”

We see that Olga Ilyinskaya cannot boast of universal attention. But, apparently, this suits her quite well.

Olga wants to transform Oblomov, wants him to join an interesting and active life. Paradoxically, Olga herself cannot understand why she is trying so hard to change Ilya Oblomov. Perhaps internal energy requires an outlet. That’s why Ilyinskaya so zealously took on Ilya Ilyich. Soon the girl began to truly admire herself: “And she will do all this miracle, so timid, silent, whom no one has listened to until now, who has not yet begun to live!.. He will live, act, bless life and her. To bring a person back to life - how much glory to the doctor when he saves a hopeless patient!

What about saving a morally perishing mind and soul? She even shuddered with proud, joyful trepidation; I considered this a lesson ordained from above.” We understand that Olga is trying not only and not so much for the sake of Ilya Ilyich, she herself needs to feel her importance and significance. In this case, the girl seeks to realize herself.

A gentle girl becomes tyrannical and tough. She literally subjugates the weak and weak-willed Oblomov. Olga is sure that she is acting for the good. She often says that “life is a duty, a duty, therefore love is also a duty.”

We understand that Olga’s “love” for Oblomov is a completely different feeling that does not correspond to the concept of “love” in the generally accepted sense. Ilyinskaya herself thinks about what she feels for Ilya Ilyich. The girl understands that Oblomov is important to her, that she has never loved anyone like that, including her family. However, Olga’s feeling does not look like sincere love, bright, exciting. The girl treats Oblomov as an object with the help of which she proves her strength, her ability to awaken a weak-willed and spineless person from sleep.

Olga is very happy to hear Oblomov’s declaration of love. After all, this proves to herself that she was right in making attempts to influence Ilya Ilyich. Again we see that Oblomov’s feeling in itself is not very important for Olga. It is important for Ilyinskaya to realize that this love arose as a result of her purposeful efforts. The girl is delighted with her mission - she strives to remake Oblomov. Of course, she doesn't succeed. And there is nothing surprising about this. Oblomov begins to change for some period. But this is only the external side.

In fact, Ilya Ilyich remains the same as he was before meeting Olga. Oblomov simply does not have enough strength to resist. In addition, he sincerely wants to please Olga, because he likes her.

Oblomov understands Olga better than she understands herself: “Now she loves the way she embroiders on canvas: the pattern comes out quietly, lazily, she unfolds it even more lazily, admires it, then puts it down and forgets. Yes, this is only a preparation for love, an experience, and he is the subject who turned up first, a little bearable for the experience, on occasion.” Olga Ilyinskaya is a bright and interesting female image.

The girl has amazing strength of character: she has a thirst for activity. Olga is self-confident, self-sufficient, and does not need approval for her actions. She needs to “remake” Oblomov because she considers it necessary. It is important for Olga to see the result of her activities, so she does not take into account Oblomov’s character traits. Olga is short-sighted, she rejoices at the external changes in Oblomov, not realizing that this is all a mirage. It is impossible to change another person if he does not have his own desire to do so. Therefore, we can admit: despite her strong character, Olga is just a person who tends to make mistakes.

Of course, Olga should have directed her activities towards something more important than wasting her energy on obviously fruitless attempts to “re-educate” Oblomov. In connection with the analysis of Olga’s image, a wonderful expression comes to mind: “Do not throw pearls before swine.”

In this case it is very appropriate. Olga wastes the treasures of her soul in vain: Oblomov cannot appreciate her efforts. He is even frightened by Olga’s zeal; it seems to him that he is just an experiment for her.

Another female image of the novel is the image of the widow Pshenitsyna Agafya Matveevly. A simple woman, she has tender feelings for Oblomov, surrounds him with care and attention. Agafya Matveevna is sincere in her thoughts and actions. She cares about Oblomov for his own sake, and not for the sake of her own ambitions.

Pshenitsyna treats Oblomov not only with tenderness and love, but also with genuine admiration. After all, he is so different from her late husband: “Ilya Ilyich did not walk like her late husband, college secretary Pshenitsyn, with petty business agility, does not constantly write papers, does not shake with fear that he will be late for his post, does not look at everyone like that, It’s as if he’s asking him to saddle him and ride, but he looks at everyone and everything so boldly and freely, as if he demands submission to himself.”

Agafya Matveevna sacrifices a lot for the sake of Ilya Ilyich. In particular, she is ready to sell some of her meager property so that Oblomov does not die of hunger. Pshenitsyna accepts Oblomov for who he really is and does not try to remake him. Oblomov and Agafya Matveevna even give birth to a son, named Andrei in honor of Stoltz.

If we compare Agafya Matveevna with Olga Ilyinskaya, then the first seems uninteresting, primitive, and narrow-minded. But on the other hand, she is more sincere. She does not think about herself, she is ready to completely forget about her own interests for the sake of Oblomov. It is no coincidence that it is with her that Ilya Ilyich feels happy. Now, he doesn’t need to pretend, to maintain external appearances.

He is accepted as he is, he is loved, he is cared for. In Agafya Matveevna we see sincere love for humanity. She is ready for help and self-sacrifice.

Of course, we can say that Agafya Matveevna, by indulging Oblomov’s weaknesses and whims, is ruining him. After all, Ilya Ilyich is slowly but surely degrading. He doesn't even try to change his life. And Pshenitsyna’s concerns only contribute to this. However, in the novel we have already seen that the aspirations of the active and purposeful Olga Ilyinskaya were also doomed to failure. Oblomov himself does not want to change, so any desires of other people to change him are, in principle, useless.
