Star Wars: Why a Negro Stormtrooper is OK. What is the difference between a stormtrooper and a clone? Racism in Star Wars

A few days before the April Star Wars Celebration - where the ninth episode of Star Wars was presented - a poster for the film appeared online. As it turned out, it was never included in the official promotional materials, although all the images, in general, are the same - except for some red stormtroopers.

Now Disney has officially revealed the updated stormtroopers - yes, they actually exist and they are called Sith Troopers. They were first shown on The Star Wars Show.

Hot Toys later revealed what its Stormtrooper figurine would look like:

Subsequently, several more photographs of related products with the symbols of the red stormtroopers appeared on the network: from Funko POP! to baseball caps. They will go on sale at the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.

The new attack aircraft received a “more modern and menacing design.” Lucasfilm calls Sith Stormtroopers "the next level of Imperial/First Order troopers." There are no other details about them yet.

Soldiers with a similar name have already appeared in the saga - in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic dilogy, the player fought against combat troops of the Sith Empire. The opponents were different types of troops, from grenadiers and riflemen to stormtroopers. The design of the fighters in the game was, of course, completely different.

Previously, footage from the set of the ninth episode appeared online, where you can see new characters and locations.

If I'm black and driving an expensive car, that doesn't mean I stole it. That is, I stole this car, but not because I am black!

Agent Jay, Men in Black 3

The trailer for the new episode of Star Wars unexpectedly generated a wave of indignation on the Internet against the young black actor John Boyega. And the main complaints were not even about his acting, which is still difficult to evaluate, but about the color of his skin and the fact that his character is dressed like an imperial stormtrooper. Let us examine the validity of these claims.

Complaint No. 1: I’m so tired of this tolerance!

Every Hollywood movie definitely has black actors!

Racial segregation in the United States was abolished back in the sixties, and it is punishable by law. However, there are no laws requiring film producers to maintain a certain percentage of people of color on set. It’s just that there are a lot of black people in America, including actors, and they win castings because they are better suited for the role.

The color of the performer's skin should not matter at all, except when it is important for the script. For example, the main character in Tarantino’s film “Django Unchained” could not have been played by a white man, even if he wanted to.

Why is it that Will Smith can be the star of a sci-fi action movie (and make funny faces), but John Boyega cannot?

But the problem of racism in the United States is not completely settled. Remember how often news appears about the unjustified brutality with which police detain black violators. Racial prejudice also plays a role in the film business.

According to statistics, films starring a black man on average receive worse reviews from the press and earn less money at the box office. But let's not forget that of the hundred highest-grossing science fiction films in history, only eight had a black protagonist. Moreover, in six cases he was played by Will Smith.

Yes, sometimes writers change the race of characters. Nick Fury from the world of Marvel became black - but this happened in the comics, and it’s hard to complain about Samuel L. Jackson’s acting. Less successful was the decision to invite the Human Torch to play the role in the reboot. Fantastic Four Michael B. Jordan, especially since his sister was played by a white actress.

There are also reverse feints. For example, in Ridley Scott's film Exodus: Kings and Gods“Both the Egyptians and the Jews are played mainly by the Anglo-Saxons. IN " Pan: Journey to Neverland“The role of the Indian Tiger Lily went to the white actress Rooney Mara.

Asians are even less fortunate. IN " Martian"Korean Mindy Park turned white. The Japanese Keiji from the book by Hiroshi Sakurazaki became an American with the face of Tom Cruise in " Edges of the future" And Major Motoko Kusanagi will soon be played by a completely non-Asian Scarlett Johansson.

So there is no universal conspiracy in Hollywood to promote blacks on screens.

Complaint #2: Why did they even add blacks to Star Wars?

Lando Calrissian, Mace Windu... Oh yeah, there were never blacks in Star Wars!

Zar Leonis, a black cadet in the service of the Empire. During the Uprising, by the way!

They were always there, for mercy's sake! How can we forget Lando Calrissian and his contribution to defeating the Empire in Return of the Jedi? And in the new trilogy there are even more dark-skinned heroes: Padme’s bodyguards - Typho and Panaka, and Giddeon Danu, senator from Kuat. There were Jedi too: Adi Gallia, Stass Alli and, of course, the mighty Master Mace Windu played by the magnificent Samuel L. Jackson. By the way, Darth Vader was voiced by a black man, James Earl Jones.

There are entire planets in the Expanded Universe with black populations. In Matthew Stover's novel Weak Point, it is revealed that Mace Windu comes from the planet Haruun Kal, which is inhabited by the dark-skinned Korunnai race. In the game Knights of the Old Republic, Revan's mentor is the black Jedi Jolie Bindu. And in the new comics from Marvel, a mysterious black beauty appears who claims that she is married to Han Solo himself!

Don't forget that in a galaxy far, far away, there live representatives of millions of different species, often completely different from humans. Do you think that in a world where there are hairy Wookiees, giant Hutts and tail-headed Twi'leks, anyone cares about the difference in skin color among homo sapiens?

Racism in Star Wars

I wonder if blue, red and purple Twi'leks hate each other because of their skin color?

According to the Expanded Universe, the Empire was a racist state that oppressed non-human races, for which there was a special designation - exotics. They were rarely accepted into service in imperial organizations, and the Empire even exterminated or enslaved some races.

Officially, the reason for such a policy was that it was the exotics who created the Confederation of Independent Systems, although formally the leader of the CIS always remained Count Dooku. Due to xenophobic policies, many peoples - such as the Bothans and Mon Calamari - joined the Rebellion.

Claim #3: Blacks can't be stormtroopers!

Should Jango Fett's clones be white? But Temuera Morrison, who plays Django, is half Maori.

Why not? Many people think that all stormtroopers are clones of Jango Fett, but this is a misconception. Between the appearance of the clones and the events of " The Force Awakens“About half a century has passed. Here even ordinary people will grow old, and even more so the clones who grew at an accelerated rate and became adults at the age of ten. Even before the start of the Uprising, the first stormtroopers turned into old men, as the second season of the animated series “Rebels” clearly showed. And these are also those of the fighters who survived - how many of them died in the Clone War?

Of course, those who have dropped out can be replaced with new ones - if a suitable donor of genetic material is found. However, Jango Fett, from whom the clones were copied, died at the beginning of the war.

Lucas didn't specify how cloning works in this galaxy. But the order to create an army of clones came ten years before the war, and all this time Fett lived at the laboratory. This means that regular donation is necessary. With the death of Fett, the Kaminoans had to curtail production. In The Clone Wars, Kamino representatives mention that they need a new donor, but the Republic has not provided one.

This is what the Jango Fett clones looked like in the Rebels series. And this is thirty years before The Force Awakens!

Clones and Expanded Universe

Even in A New Hope it was clear that the stormtroopers were of different heights.

In the old canon " Star Wars“The history of attack aircraft is described in detail. Based on the novel "Republic Commandos: Order 66" by Karen Traviss and the game Star Wars: Battlefront 2, during the Clone Wars, Palpatine secretly built a factory that, using new technology, grew clones in just a year. True, the quality of these clones was quite poor.

A few years after the war, the Kaminoans decided to overthrow the emperor and created their own army using the remains of Jango Fett's DNA. Imperial troops suppressed the rebellion, but the emperor, having lost faith in the "one man army", decided to use more donors. Ordinary people also began to be recruited into stormtroopers.

By the beginning of the Rebellion, there were almost no Jango clones in the ranks of the imperial army, and the quality of new recruits left much to be desired. Is it any wonder that they could not hit the enemy even from ten steps!

And one more thing: the Republic received an army of two million without spending a penny. Everything was paid for either by Master Sifo-Dyas or the Sith. New batches of clones would cost a pretty penny. And the economy of the Republic was already seriously undermined by the pre-war crises and the war itself.

Finally, with all the advantages of cloning, new fighters become operational only after ten years. And the barely formed Empire needed an army immediately. It is not surprising that the emperor soon began to recruit recruits from ordinary people. Remember, at the beginning of A New Hope, Luke Skywalker dreams of entering the Imperial Flight Academy!

Just because a person wears Imperial armor doesn't mean he's a stormtrooper!

Luke's example shows that there were enough young naive guys in the galaxy who dreamed of becoming famous and looking at other worlds. Serving in the imperial army was an opportunity for them to escape from their hateful home. It's not hard to imagine John Boyega's Finn as a conscript or volunteer who bought into the romance of military service.

New characters and actors

Finn, of course, is not the only newcomer among the heroes of the new episode. We talk a little about other debutants.

Finn

A young guy who appears either in stormtrooper armor, or in rebel clothes, or even with a Jedi sword. As the creators confirmed, Finn is a stormtrooper, but not an ideological supporter of the First Order, but simply a conscript. Perhaps unwilling to carry out cruel orders, he deserts and later joins the rebels and learns the Force, becoming a Jedi.

Actor: John Boyega. British of Nigerian origin, leading actor in the film Strangers on the Block.

Ray

A girl from the desert planet Jakku flies on a rusty jet bike, owns a BB-8 droid and collects scrap metal for a living. Judging by the trailer, along with a crowbar, she once picked up a deserter stormtrooper and brought him together with the rebels.

Actress: Daisy Ridley. One of the most inexperienced in the film. Miss Ridley has only a couple of supporting roles in little-known British TV series under her belt. " The Force Awakens"will be her debut on the big screen.

Kylo Ren

One of the film's main villains is a big fan of Darth Vader: he dresses almost like Vader, with a mask and a black cape, and carries a red lightsaber with an unusual guard, which the filmmakers say he made himself. Most likely, Ren serves the First Order, the organization that replaced the Empire.

Actor: Adam Driver. Emmy Award nominee for his role in the TV series Girls. Formerly a Marine Corps fighter.

High Chief Snoke

This villain was played by Andy Serkis in digital makeup, and we still don't know what he looks like. It is known that he leads the First Order and that the stormtroopers follow his orders. If Kylo Ren can be called a replacement for Vader, then Snoke is the new emperor.

Actor: Andy Serkis. He gained worldwide fame thanks to roles played using motion capture: Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, Caesar in the Planet of the Apes films and the ape in King Kong.

Poe Dameron

Rebel pilot, self-proclaimed "best pilot in the galaxy." He is somehow connected with Princess Leia and is carrying out her instructions.

Actor: Oscar Isaac. He was noted for his supporting roles in the films “Robin Hood”, “Sucker Punch” and “Drive”. In 2013, he won critical praise for his starring role in the film Inside Llewyn Davis.

Captain Phasma

The stormtrooper commander wears stylish chrome armor. Most likely, Finn's immediate superior, who will organize a hunt for the deserter.

Actress: Gwendoline Christie. She is known for her role as the heroic warrior Brienne in Game of Thrones, and recently also played in The Hunger Games.

General Hux

Another military leader of the First Order, commander of the Starkiller base, located on a certain ice planet and having weapons capable of destroying a planetary system. Probably an analogue of Grandmoff Tarkin.

Actor: Domhnall Gleeson. Son of famous Irish actor Brendan Gleeson. He is remembered for his role as Bill Weasley in the Harry Potter films, appeared in Dredd and got the lead role in the melodrama Boyfriend from the Future.

BB-8

A small orange repair droid that Ray picks up in the desert. As fans joke, he will probably be the son of R2D2... and probably the Death Star.

Actor: no. Unlike R2D2, which has the dwarf Kenny Baker inside, BB-8 is not even a CGI, but a real radio-controlled robot.

* * *

Perhaps the only complaint that can be made against Boyega is that in most of the frames shown, his character has a very stupid expression on his face. But you can’t draw conclusions about the level of an actor’s performance based on a couple of frames from the trailer! If you wish, you can make a selection of the same funny faces for any character." Star Wars».

Maybe we can expect better self-control from a fighter in elite imperial units. But, firstly, the trailer shows Finn in a moment of serious stress: he is running away from his pursuers under fire on an unfamiliar planet. And secondly, do you think there are many experienced instructors left in the imperial army after half a century of Star Wars?

Hello Galaxy!

In this post I would like to tell you about popular and not popular types of stormtroopers!

P.S. There will be NO non-canonical stormtroopers in this post, there will be only canon ones!

:loudspeaker: WARNING:loudspeaker:

You might know about all these types, but the post was created in an informative way to study these types of attack aircraft!

Imperial Stormtroopers (Later there will be First Order Stormtroopers)

Stormtroopers

Strike forces of the Galactic Empire,

wore white armor over a black form-fitting suit, which, in addition to its impressive appearance, had a wide range of equipment for survival and temperature control, the main weapon being the F-11D.

Stormtroopers-reconnaissance

They wore lighter armor and used jet bikes to patrol the perimeters of the Imperial garrisons they were assigned to. The equipment included long-range blasters and smoke grenades.

Scout snipers

There was a special unit of stormtrooper scouts who used deadly long-range E-11s blasters and gray armor.

Imperial Combat Driver

Which piloted many of the Imperial Army's ground vehicles, such as the AT-DP. There was also a specialization among the Empire's combat drivers, in which AT-ST walkers were controlled by AT-ST drivers, and another division was responsible for piloting AT-Tovs. The latter considered themselves the elite among the elite.

Assault Sniper

(I understand that this is unlikely, but it helped a lot and corresponds to the description of the armor)

Specialized attack aircraft armed with sniper rifles. These stormtroopers wore blue shoulder pads and had visors on their helmets. They also had black bandoliers draped crosswise over their chest plates.

Sandtroopers

wore an improved version of armor, which ensured survival on desert planets such as Tatooine. The weapons they carried were DLT-19 or T-21.

Snowtroopers

Specialized stormtroopers equipped with breathing heaters located under the face masks. Snowtroopers were self-sufficient mobile combat units. They were able to survive for two weeks in severe frosts on the power supply alone. Snow stormtroopers underwent rigorous selective training, as they had to survive and fight in very difficult combat conditions. The weapons were -

1) For an ordinary snowtrooper there was an E-11 blaster rifle, an SE-14r blaster pistol, two stun and fragmentation grenades.

2) For the elite there was a DLT-20a blaster rifle and two paralyzing grenades.

Coastal attack aircraft

Stormtroopers were trained and equipped to perform missions in tropical and coastal environments, such as on the planet Scarif.

Shoretroopers based on Scarif were armed with both standard E-11 blaster rifles and improved E-22 blaster rifles.

Dark Troopers Phase II

They wore heavy armor and were armed with assault weapons. Such soldiers were used to attack enemy fortifications.

Shadow Troopers

They were armed with light T-21 automatic blasters and wore armor, which, in addition to its frightening black color, had camouflage devices.

Death Troopers

They were elite fighters of the Imperial Army, whose specialization included operations in the interests of Imperial Intelligence and the Imperial Navy. They usually served as bodyguards for high-ranking members of the Empire. They were often armed with light SE-14r automatic blasters.

Lava Troopers

They were equipped to carry out operations in conditions of extremely high temperatures and were trained to fight on volcanic planets. The weapons were T-21 or DLT-19.

Water Trooper

They were trained to fight in an aquatic environment to maintain the rules in the underwater worlds of the Empire. Weapons are unknown, but it is known for sure that they had TIE Boats.

Space stormtroopers

Specialized attack aircraft trained to operate in outer space and in the absence of gravity. They wore a special version of stormtrooper armor, additionally equipped with a breathing apparatus. From weapons - unknown.

Shock Trooper

High-class stormtroopers from the Stormtrooper Corps of the Galactic Empire. They served in the elite front-line units of the Empire, as well as as the Emperor's bodyguards. They were the successors of the shock clones who served in the Grand Army of the Republic.

Their arsenal included a DLT-19 heavy blaster or a powerful rocket launcher.

Imperial heavy soldiers

They were clad in heavy battle armor and armed with electrostaffs, making them look like Imperial pacifier soldiers.

Heavily armed stormtroopers

They were equipped with bulky rotating blaster cannons. Heavy Stormtroopers were armed with a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon or a DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle.

Stormtrooper Grenadier

Armed with grenade launchers, and wearing a red shoulder pad and a black bandolier slung across the chest, this type of stormtrooper was particularly cruel to its enemies.

Firetroopers

They were a type of stormtrooper equipped with flamethrower weapons.

Blackhole Stormtroopers

Characteristics:

Description:

The Dark Jedi Cronal, also known as Blackhole, was one of Emperor Palpatine's confidants. He was the hand of the Emperor, a high-ranking member of the Order of the Prophets (an integral part of the Sith Order of his time), and was one of the heads of Imperial intelligence, secretly sharing a post with Isani Isard.

Cronal carried out many important tasks for the emperor, some of which required him to attract well-armed units. It was probably during these years that he decided to ask the emperor to provide him with... personal troops. With a small personal army under his command, Cronal could not rely on army units or stormtroopers, thereby compromising the secrecy of the mission. Palpatine did not refuse one of his favorites and allocated Cronal his personal Star Destroyer “Singularity”, a select air wing of TIE Fighters and a division of stormtroopers, staffed by experienced soldiers. But Cronal’s stormtroopers were not enough. He convinced Palpatine to raise a legion of clones for him, based on Fett's original DNA used to create the clone army for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR).

In addition to first-class training, Cronal's personal stormtroopers also had the appropriate equipment. Their armor differed from standard storm armor in a special polymer developed by imperial scientists on the planet Aeten II. The armor hid the wearer well from electronic and visual detection means, reflecting or absorbing radar pulses. Camouflage was especially important for Cronal's stormtroopers, as they were not primarily deployed for combined arms operations like Vader's 501st Legion, but rather carried out covert operations in small groups. Due to the distinctive color of the polymer, wearers of the armor were nicknamed “Shadow Troopers.” The polymer was very expensive to produce, which is why black armor cost much more than its “white” counterparts. The total cost of the kit was 28,000 credits. The cost of polymer for one set of armor was 10,000 credits, and the process of applying it cost another 2,000 credits. This was where the external differences between Cronal's soldiers and ordinary stormtroopers ended. The armament of the division's attack aircraft was standard for the assault corps.

Before the Battle of Endor, Cronal's stormtroopers carried out covert operations against rebels from the Rebel Alliance. For example, shortly after the Battle of Yavin, they were involved in an operation on Vorzyd V, where Leia, Han and Luke were at that moment. The “immortal trinity” never got into Cronal’s network, but his stormtroopers stumbled upon a local resistance cell and entered into battle with it, virtually destroying it.

After Endor, Cronal, using the highest level identification codes bestowed upon him personally by the Emperor, gathered around him a small army and fleet from the remaining orphaned Imperial units. With these troops, he began conducting raids against planets and supply lines of the Rebel Alliance, which soon declared itself the New Republic. A special role in these attacks was played by his black attack aircraft, who carried out special operations and boarded transport ships.

Six months later, the New Republic decided to put an end to the attacks of the hated Cronal. Having learned of the location of his headquarters, located on the planet Mindor, the former rebels sent a squadron of warships carrying 18,000 paratroopers to destroy it. The squadron was commanded by Luke Skywalker. The operation did not go well from the very beginning. First, the squadron fell into a well-organized Imperial ambush and suffered heavy losses. The cruiser on which all the paratroopers were located was hit. The HP paratroopers who survived the first attack left the dying ship in rescue and landing capsules. But on the surface of the planet, Cronal’s black stormtroopers were already waiting for them. In the wastelands of Mindor, fierce battles began between squads of stormtroopers and disorganized groups of paratroopers. Only a few republican paratroopers managed to survive this meat grinder. I would like to note that if it had been Cronal’s will, the black stormtroopers could have eliminated even Luke, but the servant of the dark side of the Force had his own plans for him.

After the events on Mindora, the black stormtroopers again went into the shadows, like their mysterious leader. The galaxy only remembered them again during the Reborn Emperor's campaign against the New Republic in 10 ABY. Cronal's role in these events is unknown, but the fact that his personal stormtroopers fought for the Reborn Emperor may indicate that Cronal remained loyal to Palpatine.

After Palpatine's repeated and final death, the fate of the Black Stormtroopers is unknown. Most likely, the survivors scattered across the Galaxy alone or in small groups. Only this can explain the fact that these soldiers (along with their armor) were in the service of the ex-guardsman Carnor Jax in 11 ABY. Jax dreamed of becoming the new ruler of the Galaxy, and to fulfill this plan, he, like no one else, needed experienced soldiers to carry out special tasks.

After Jax's death at the hands of fellow former Guardsman Cyrus Qaynos, the trail of the legendary Blackhole stormtroopers is lost. They are not mentioned anywhere else.

IN The Force awakens(2015) and The Last Jedi(2017), upgraded stormtroopers serve as First Order, under the leadership of Supreme Leader Snoke and his commanders, most notably Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma.

The helmet and armor were redesigned for the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force awakens costume design by Michael Kaplan with director JJ Abrams.

Legion five hundred and one

The 501st Legion Elite Stormtrooper Unit, or "Vader's Fist", is a stormtrooper unit of Star Wars films and Star Wars Legends continuity. Commanded by the ruthlessly cunning General Maximilian Veers and composed of the most trained soldiers in Star Wars galaxy, the Legion has gained a brutal reputation; completing a mission is considered suicidal or impossible to defeat. The 501st serves as Darth Vader's personal death squad, which leads the 501st in destroying the Jedi. The 501st lead an attack on the Tantive IV consular ship and capture Princess Leia. During the Battle of Hoth, the 501st plays a major role in the destruction of the Rebel Alliance base, and almost manages to capture Millennium Falcon. Most of the background history associated with the 501st comes from Star Wars novels and games Star Wars: Battlefront II And Star Wars The Force Unleashed .

The Elite Five Hundred and First designation is resurrected by Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is Traune trilogy is accused of defending the "Hand of Empire" Empire forces. Thrawn's Five Hundred and First consists of aliens, normal humans, and Jango Fett clones.

501 First Order units wear striking white armor, a derivative of this worn by Republic clones and Empire stormtroopers. Members of this new generation of stormtroopers are trained from birth, growing up with single designations instead of names, and fed a constant diet of first-order propaganda to ensure absolute loyalty. Where the Empire has chosen to numb routine, First Order Simulation training and live-fire drills encourage improvisation on the battlefield, making these stormtroopers more dangerous than their Imperial predecessors.

The Legion's name is based on a fan organization of the same name; their inclusion in the official succession was based on loyalty to the world organization in Star Wars fandom.

Specialists

In the original Star Wars trilogy, several types of "military occupation specialist" stormtrooper units are covered. These include:

Imperial variants

  • Sandtroopers seen on the desert planet Tatooine during star Wars(1977). Sandtroopers can be distinguished by their large, black, white, or orange shoulder pads, slightly different markings on the back of their helmets, diamond-shaped knee plates, and stomach armor different from regular stormtroopers.
  • Shocktroopers Is there a red version of stormtroopers? Sometimes they carry long rifles or electrostaffs.
  • Snowtroopers seen in the attack on Echo's base The Empire Strikes Back(1980) on Hoth and in video games Star Wars: Empire at War , Star Wars: Battlefront , Star Wars: Battlefront II , Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy And Shadows of the Empire on Nintendo 64 (and also Lego Star Wars II And Star Wars Battlefront(2015) are regular stormtroopers wearing minus armor. Their helmets and armor are different, with goggles and a breathing hood.
  • Scout paratroopers first seen in Return of the Jedi(1983). They are trained in advanced reconnaissance and survival skills for all terrains and have also been seen in Star Wars: Battlefront , Star Wars: Battlefront II , Star Wars: The Force Unleashed And Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II like marksmen and scout snipers.
  • Deadly Troopers elite Imperial Intelligence soldiers, encased in specialized armor with a dark, sinister sheen. These soldiers serve as bodyguards and enforcers for VIP Imperial individuals, such as Director Krennic and Grand Admiral Thrawn. Their name comes from the legend of the New Death Troopers, and, in canon, these soldiers are so named due to rumors that they are like zombie fighters.
  • Shoretroopers, or simply Scarif stormtroopers, stormtrooper specialists stationed at top-secret Imperial military headquarters on Scarif, where soldiers patrol the planetary facility's beaches and bunkers.
  • Assault tank combat pilots And commanders, or tank soldiers, operate the Empire's arsenal of armored Repulsor vehicles, from a squad of transports of heavily armored hovertanks. Combat drivers are lightly armored, relying instead on the thick leather of their vehicles to protect them in combat. The commander is in contact with his command and with headquarters to keep abreast of changing combat conditions.
  • Shadow Troopers, also known as Black Hole Troopers, is an elite special-OPS cavalry type only seen in Star Wars Legends material. Assigned to the mysterious Imperial Shadow Guard, one of the more prominent appearances in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, where they have shiny, reflective black armor that allows them to turn invisible. Since the Star Wars Expanded Universe was declared non-canon and rebranded as Star Wars Legends, Shadow Troopers has not been seen in any form of media since then.

First order options

  • Flametroopers in advance in combination with standard first order infantry. These specialized units flush out entrenched enemies with roaring sheets of flame from their flamethrowers. They wear backpack-style fuel tanks, special helmets with slit-like lenses that reduce glare and glove body temperature-regulating devices under their armor.
  • Riot control stormtroopers V Star Wars: The Force Awakening(2015), specializes in riot control and uses non-lethal betaplast shields and Z6 batons.
  • Snowtroopers assigned to cold planets. They wear special armor and equipment that allow them to work effectively in icy conditions. Snowtroopers wear a backpack-style personal environment block and wear insulated helmets with glare-reducing slit lenses, gloves, a kama, and a heat-resistant body glove underneath in a wind-resistant fabric coverall. Snowtrooper teams the planet to reconnoiter, which once housed StarKiller Base, ridding local life forms that pose a potential threat.
  • Stormtrooper Executioners are a branch of specialists specifically established to dispense final justice to stormtroopers who are found guilty of treason.

Performers

While stormtroopers are performers like Michael Leader ( Episode IV), Laurie Goode ( Episode IV), Peter Diamond ( Episode IV-VI), Stephen Bailey ( Episode IV), and Bill Weston ( Episode IV), as a rule, were credits in the film series, there were a few exceptions.

IN Attack of the Clones(2002), Temuera Morrison plays bounty hunter Jango Fett and his many clones, who are the first clone army.

IN The Force awakens(2015), Boyega stars as Finn, a former Stormtrooper FN-2187 who defects from First Order and joins the Resistance, and Gwendoline Christie portrays Captain Phasma, commander of the First Order stormtroopers. Daniel Craig has a small uncredited role as a stormtrooper who Rey forces using a Jedi mind trick to allow her to escape captivity, and director JJ Abrams also cast Alias And Lost composer Michael Giacchino as FN-3181, and Radiohead producer Godrich as FN-9330. A control riot stormtrooper who calls a Chukhonian a traitor during the Battle of Takodana, portrayed by stuntman Liang Yang and voiced by sound editor David Acord, identified as FN-2199 in the almanac book Star Wars: Before the Awakening(2015) by Greg Rucka. The soldier, armed with a "Z6 baton" and dubbed the "TR-8R" by fans, quickly inspired several memes and paintings. Actor/director Kevin Smith also expressed Stormtrooper in the Takodana sequence.

IN Star Wars Rebels Various voice actors provided the voices of the Stormtroopers, including David Acord, Dee Bradley Baker, Steven Bloom, Clancy Brown, Robin Atkin Downes, Greg Ellis, Dave Fennoy, Dave Filoni, Tom Kane.
