The idea to record the song was suggested by an old friend of the musicians, businessman Sergei Shunyaev, who in his youth loved various metal music, and since the mid-90s, based on his hobbies, he actually sponsored the group "Aria" on a charitable basis. The musicians decided to give him something like a gift by translating into Russian the songs “Going to the run” by the group “Golden Earring” (“Careless Angel”), “Return of the Warlord” by the group “Manowar” (known in Russian translation as “The hour has struck”) and the song of the group “White Lion” “Cry for Freedom” (in the version of the group “Aria” the song is called “Freedom”) Three months later, without the knowledge of Shunyaev and the musicians themselves, the album “Aria” “Tribute to Harley-Davidson " was assigned to the recently formed all-Russian rock radio station "Nashe Radio", the first address of which was located in the area of ​​the Baumanskaya metro station, not far from Spartakovskaya Square. Music editors were especially taken with the song "Careless Angel" that they could not help but put this song on the air. Thus, this song became the first from “Aria”, which was heard on the air of “Our Radio” and for the first time a wide listener heard it there. Before that, “Aria” had never been heard there, because initially the heads of the radio station considered it too tough a group, even lyrical ballads were rejected.

History of creation

An example is the song “Careless Angel,” which is a Russian-language version of the ballad Going to the Run from the album Bloody Buccaneers by Golden Earring. The Dutch rockers recorded Going to the Run in 1991 (having performed together for thirty years by that time).

They dedicated Going to the Run to a member of the Hell's Angels who died in the accident. He was a close friend of Barry Hay and good friends with the other members. The track did not go unnoticed, but it became a hit only in the Netherlands. Surely among the group's fans there are many who sincerely love this ballad, but one can hardly talk about it as a significant composition in the Golden Earring discography.

She released her version of Going to the Run called “Careless Angel” in 1999, and it was an unconditional success. The song is still very popular among fans and the band performs it at almost most of their concerts.
