Applications are now being accepted for the Open International Music Competition of acapella singing “Moscow Spring a cappella”. Deadline March 31, 2017.

A cappella choirs and vocal ensembles consisting of three or more people from Russia and other countries of the world can take part in the Competition. Creative teams that have expressed a desire to participate in the Competition must carry out singing activities for at least one year before the date of the Competition. All members of creative teams must be at least 18 years old.

A creative team that has expressed a desire to participate in the Competition must have a compositional repertoire of non-repetitive musical works with a total playing time of 20 to 30 minutes.

The competition program of the creative team may include works of various styles and genres of music:

• jazz;
• soul;
• rock;
• blues;
• gospel (genre of spiritual Christian music);
• etno-folk;
• folk songs in original arrangements;
• popular songs of Russian and foreign composers of the 20th century;
• acapella arrangements of classical instrumental works;
• other musical genres and directions.

Stages of the competition:

1. Qualifying round: video competition. Applications close on March 31, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. Moscow time.
2. Competitive auditions. Performances at the Moscow Spring festival. Performances by creative groups will take place from April 28 to May 7, 2017 in open areas of the central streets of Moscow.

This spring, all of Moscow will sing. Starting from April 27 and ending on May 9, the capital will host the open international music competition of performers “Moscow Spring a cappella” for the second time, which will be part of the cycle of city street events “Moscow Seasons”.

Moscow Spring Acapella 2018: detailed information

The competition will bring together all performers who work in the a capella genre (singing without any instrumental accompaniment). Musicians who have more than a year of singing experience, as well as anyone who has reached the age of 18 at the start of the competition, will be able to take part in this competition.

During the “Moscow Spring” the entire capital will become one big stage. It is reported that the performances will take place not only at the usual venues of the Moscow Seasons festivals, but also on the roofs of houses and the balconies of buildings. Dozens of wonderful concerts will be shown every day for residents of the capital and guests of the city.

In addition, they will be able to enjoy the taste of delicious dishes from Moscow restaurateurs, buy themselves an unusual souvenir, and also take part in various entertainment events, including: creative master classes in singing and music, theatrical performances, open training and much more.

Moscow Spring Acapella 2018: who will take part

178 participants from 22 countries will present their creativity at the Moscow Spring a cappella festival. They will show their talents at 38 festival venues. In total, 1,200 performances have been prepared, more than a thousand performers will present 8,000 songs and musical compositions.

The jury members of this competition will be: Stas Piekha, Vladimir Korobka, Andrea Figallo, Vasily Gerello, Victor Drobysh, Lyubov Kazarnovskaya, Yuri Kostin, Matthias Becker, Michelle Weir and others.

Moscow Spring Acapella 2018: festival sites, schedule

During the festival, the most unusual venue will be the balcony of the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia. There, solo performers and small vocal groups will perform for residents and guests of the capital, singing acappella in a variety of styles.

In addition, it will be possible to hear compositions in the a cappella genre on the balconies of the house on the corner of Kamergersky Lane, the Nespresso flagship boutique and Bolshaya Dmitrovka.

Small vocal groups will be presented on the balcony of the Savoy Hotel. The balconies of the Bely restaurant and the A.S. Pushkin Memorial Apartment will also serve as a festival site. One stage was located right on the balcony of the Izvestia newspaper building.

Most of the capital's rooftops will also serve as venues for the Moscow Spring a cappella festival, writes C-ib. One of them will be on the roof of the Old Tower restaurant on Teatralnaya Square. Musical groups of up to 20 people will perform grandiose performances that will be distinguished by the beauty of their sound on Pushkinskaya Square. On Tverskaya and Rizhskaya squares, performers from Russia and other countries will delight Muscovites with their performances.

In the Smolensky Passage shopping and business complex, as part of the festival, different concerts of vocalists will be held every day, both from the capital itself and from other countries of the world.

In addition, Novy Arbat, Pyatnitskaya, Kuznetsky Most, Rozhdestvenka streets, Tverskoy and Khodynsky boulevards and Khoroshevskoe highway will serve as sites.

Here the acapellas are the best online: studio recording quality, professional level of production, which makes it possible to use them in remixes and mashups.

The positive thing is amazing quality. The resource's endorsers are Roger Sanchez and Judge Jules.

Loopmasters is an online store where you can purchase loops, samples and plugins (more about the service), but it also offers royalty-free acapellas and vocal samples. They are offered as an assembly. This Internet resource, unlike Acapella Heaven and Looperman, offers entire packs, which makes it possible to edit this material or mix it live. Vocal assemblies are offered at various prices. It all depends on two factors: the producer and the number of samples they consist of. Loopmaster has a sufficient variety of genres.

Positive aspects of the site. Here are royalty-free, attribution-free acapellas. Multiple variations of the pack (in terms of words and phrases). A one-time payment for the ordered assembly allows you to use it endlessly and frees you from sharing profits if your track is successful and becomes a hit.

Negative points. The resource is a kind of constructor that must first be prepared in the program or dumped into the sampler. The costs here are quite high for those who like to load a lot - no subscription is provided.

For those who want to create a mashup or remix of a song that is quite popular or affordable, it is necessary to get a “studio acapella”. It is a vocal track sent by the label or publisher on behalf of the artist to the remix producer. There are DIY acapellas, as well as unofficial ones, in which the vocal track is extracted using software and some studio manipulations. Regardless of their quality, which is far from ideal, such homemade works can be useful for subsequent work.

Bitport Play

The online megamarket Beatport is primarily famous for its huge selection of electronic music. The online resource offers many studio acapellas that are officially released by performers for the purposes of remixing, making mashups, and also for the needs of producers. They are offered as whole tracks or as loops for loading into programs or samplers. They can be applied directly to the set. Here, as on Loopmaster, you need to pay for specific material, which remains in royalty-free status, regardless of the fact that it is used in a commercial track.

The section on Beatport Play, which is dedicated to the remix competition, also deserves special attention. Here you can make a remix using the artist's official studio acapella. There are some restrictions here, regulated depending on the resources and the period of possible downloading of the results, in accordance with the rules of the competition.

Positive points. Large selection, variety of genres. The best competitions for remixing tracks from famous artists are held here.

Negative sides. The pack can be quite expensive, and the remix competition can be exclusive, as a result of which it may be impossible to publish the competition track on any other site.

Indaba Music

This website offers other genres in addition to electronic music. Indaba at the beginning was a musical community. It is now a place where competitions are held for producers and remixers. This is also a place for exclusive studio acapellas that are not available on other resources. The competitions here are held on a commercial basis, so you won’t be able to sell or upload them to other sites, with the exception of Indaba Music.

Positive points. This is a decent resource to find acapellas and remix packs in different genres. There is a rapidly developing community of producers here who review works.

Negative points. Remix packs posted here are intended for competition entries. Commercial use of the material is not possible.

Acapellas 4U

The longest-term project, which presents collections of hit vocals included in the Top 40. The forum here is far from perfect, the search for the right material is also not ideal. But here you can get fresh acapellas that are informal. It will not be possible to make money from the released material here, since the tracks here are not sanctioned by the publisher and artist.

Used in a non-commercial direction, vocal parts with Acapellas 4U will allow you to gain experience in producing, mixing, remixing and mash-ups.

Positive points. A resource with free registration and regular updates, an abundance of hits.
Negative points. Not the best site in terms of friendliness. The conclusion can be a single screenshot. There's a mix of formal and informal acapellas that make for a selection that resembles a roulette wheel.
