    Here is a textbook designed for 4 semesters of work in colleges and secondary specialized educational institutions. The manual can also be used in preparatory courses and faculties additional education, as well as for self-study. the main objective benefits - to develop students' reading and translation skills, extracting, processing and transmitting information in English, and also - to prepare for exams in English.

    The manual consists of an introductory course containing a corrective course in phonetics (with rules for reading letters and letter combinations), a basic refresher course in grammar (in accordance with the requirements of the English language program for colleges and secondary specialized educational institutions) and applications.

    Each lesson of the main course contains a brief summary of grammar material for the required sections with reinforcement exercises. The lessons include texts for reading and translation, which are also fully presented oral topics, which are required for entrance exam in universities. Thus, such compulsory school topics are considered as: About myself, My working day, My day off, My friend, Traveling, Great Britain,London.

    The texts in Appendix 1 (My Favorite Writer, a series of regional studies topics - Moscow, USA, Russian Federation, etc.) are intended for classroom and extracurricular reading, developing skills in working with a dictionary and conveying content in English, as well as for preparing for entrance exams.

    FEATURES OF ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION

    As a result of the complex historical development Since the beginning of the English language and its writing system, a significant discrepancy has arisen between the spelling of a word and its pronunciation. This led to a system of special recording of the sound image of a word - phonetic transcription. Knowledge of transcription signs is the key to correct reading and pronunciation of a word.

    1. The brevity or length of vowel sounds in Russian does not affect the meaning of the word. In English, the length or shortness of the pronounced vowel sound changes the meaning of the word. So, - a ship, and tfi:p] - a sheep.

    2. Unlike the Russian language, in English consonants are not devoiced at the end of a word. The deafening of consonants affects the meaning of the word. For example: [bǽg] - bag, [bǽg k] - back.
