Expensive brands of clothing for men. Suit brands with the best value for money

Finally, I was going to make the material that I have been asked for a long time. In this selection, I will list brands whose suits are good value for money - and just in case, I emphasize that we are talking about suits, and not about unpaired jackets.

As in the case of other similar selections ( , ) I decided to put an upper price limit; in this case it is $1600. The lower price limit was $200. I especially note that all prices are regular, non-sale. Of course, during the sales period you can find better offers, since for some costumes prices can drop by 50-70%.

When compiling the compilation, exchange rates were used as of October 11, 2016: 1 USD = 62.4 RUB = 0.9 EUR = 0.81 GBP.

From 200 to 350 dollars. In this segment, it is worth mentioning the suits of the Russian company Bolshevichka - the Bacard, Clubber, Bolshevichka.ru lines. In addition, the costumes of the Russian brand Truvor deserve attention (the Luxor line is better, but if the budget is very limited, then Classic; choose models from completely natural fabrics). Of the foreign brands, it is worth mentioning Charles Tyrwhitt (Business line), T.M. Lewin (pure wool models), as well as ( only Autograph line). However, it should be borne in mind that at Russian prices, M&S has a worse price-to-level ratio than Truvor and Bolshevichka. Suits T.M. Lewin and Charles Tyrwhitt are not represented in Russia, but they can be ordered online.

What can you buy off-sale with a $300-350 budget? In the best case, a suit made of decent pure wool fabric, made of viscose (very rarely -), with buttons made of natural material () and working cuffs.

From 350 to 600 dollars. This segment includes the suits of the older lines of some of the brands already mentioned: for example, Charles Tyrwhitt (Luxury line), T.M. Lewin (Italian wool), "Bolshevichka" (Nestor Melagne). Possible differences: fabrics of a higher level, more expensive buttons (sometimes made of natural horn), more beading (a design or something in between half-canvassed and, like the "Bolshevichka" in Nestor Melagne).

In addition, in this segment it is worth mentioning (only half-canvassed models and lined with cupro or viscose) and Albione (half-canvassed; better with cupro + viscose or 100% viscose lining; fabrics with not the highest super scores are better, since super 140, 150 and more on suits in this price segment can wear out very quickly).

According to some meticulous buyers, Albione is a brand not Italian, but Polish, and its production is hardly Italian (well, Henderson is a Russian brand with a predominantly Chinese production / sometimes Portuguese). If you want a suit from, so to speak, a 100% Italian brand, then you can look at models from - but I will say right away that their price-to-level ratio is not the best: you overpay for the Made in Italy label and get a fused suit made from good fabrics ( but not higher) level (sometimes Reda, ); additional pluses here can be a cut and design that are created by real Italians; in addition, 0909 Fatto In Italia suits are usually very light.

Go ahead. In this price segment, you can also see the Massimo Dutti suits (typical suit: fused construction, good fabric, lining of 83% viscose with 17% acetate, Portuguese production). Such costumes can attract very slender and thin people, predominantly a young audience. Sometimes Massimo Dutti has very nice models, and sometimes they are mediocre and mediocre, so you need to be picky and attentive.

Finally, it is worth mentioning some J.Crew models (the Ludlow line is half-canvassed, fabrics are usually made in Italy, cupro lining) and Blue line (but this line is not represented in Russia). J.Crew costumes, unfortunately, are also not sold in Russia.

From 600 to 950 dollars. Here you can remember Boggi, as well as Suitsupply Purple Line and some from Red Line (but only Sienna models, and they are half-canvassed), as well as more expensive J.Crew Ludlow models. Boggi isn't the best value for money right now, but it certainly isn't the worst either; the main advantages are a large selection of models, a large selection of sizes, pleasant fabrics; alas, the costumes presented in Russia are fused. For some, Italian production may be a plus, although more and more Boggi models are now made in Serbia.

Suitsupply Blue Line and Red Line Sienna (as well as J.Crew Ludlow) have a half-canvassed construction and bemberg (cupro) lining; fabrics are of high quality, in most cases made in Italy. The costumes themselves, however, are made in Asia.

We should not forget about Lardini, but the costumes of this Italian brand at prices less than $ 950 in Russia you can buy only at sales or in the outlet; in European online stores, however, they can be found for 800-950 dollars and during normal (off-sale) hours.

Finally, we can recall Ede & Ravenscroft (half-canvassed), but this brand is not represented in Russia.

From 950 to 1600 dollars. In this price segment, you can find fully-canvassed suits made of very good fabrics with buttons made from natural materials and sometimes with a noticeable amount of manual work. I would call the Italian brand Caruso the leader in this segment; in addition, Canali has very worthy models, although the volume of manual work in Canali is usually somewhat less and the cuffs are often non-working.

It is worth mentioning the little-known Italian brand Eidos, as well as the well-hyped Corneliani (in Russia - more than $1,600) and Pal Zileri (mainline / in Russia is often also more expensive and usually slightly lower than Canali and even more so Caruso in terms of level). We must not forget Canadians Samuelsohn, Americans Hickey Freeman (alas, both brands are not represented in Russia), as well as Suitsupply Red Line.

In the end, you can also mention Brooks Brothers (line 1818); True, these are half-canvassed design suits. As a rule, they are sewn from quality Italian fabrics and boast a couple of manual operations, working cuffs and buttons made from natural materials. In Russia, Brooks Brothers 1818 suits are only slightly cheaper than Canali suits (fully-canvassed); however, in the online store bosco.ru there are still three models at the old prices (48-58 thousand rubles).

12:03 pm - Rating of men's suits. Part 2

In the second part of the article, we consider the brands of suits that are sold in Moscow in the premium and luxury categories.

Suits from 100 to 160 thousand

Ravazzolo. Not the most famous brand in Moscow, however, popular in Italy. A distinctive feature of the suits is the "soft" shoulder without much shoulder padding and most of the seams are hand-made. Cost from 100 thousand rubles, informal jackets from 75. Sold in Crocus City Mall, Ravazzolo boutique.

SartorioNapoli. Let no one be confused by the fact that the Sartorio Napoli brand is only a few years old: in fact, it is a subsidiary brand of the well-known suit manufacturer Kiton. They inherit the cut of the founding company: in many jackets and suits, the "shirt shoulder" is practically unlined, the cut is soft, fitting the figure. The cost is from 110 thousand, you can buy it in the Finamore boutique on Malaya Bronnaya or the Argesto store.

Isaiah. This brand is famous for its bright and original things: lovers of fashionable classics wear things with pleasure. The brand name of Isaia is a coral branch, bright fabrics and contrast linings are actively used. Stylish plaid and striped suits, unusual colors of shirts and accessories, but all this looks good and stylish together.

However, here you can find strict business suits and jackets, and create a set of clothes for a man who loves a strict business style. Prices start at 120 thousand and can go up to more than 200 thousand for a suit, depending on the fabric from which it is sewn. Sold in Gio Boutique in the hotel Ukraine.

Raschini. The brand positions itself as a fashion house, and its origin is Russian. However, they make excellent suits in factories in Italy and sell them under their own name in Moscow. You can find a suit from 70 thousand rubles, mostly in the range of 120-150 thousand. There are Raschini boutiques on Nikolskaya Street and Novinsky Passage.

Belvest. Belvest is often ranked among the top 5 suit manufacturers in the world in various rankings. The reason is that for 50 years they have been following the tradition of tailoring suits by hand. Each collection has different sizes for short or very tall men.

Sold in the Cristian Vung boutique in Crocus City Mall. You can find a suit for 70-80 thousand, but most start at 120 thousand rubles.

ErmenegildoZegna. More famous than Zegna among men in Russia is perhaps Brioni. A brand with a century of history, and in addition to the production of clothes, they are engaged in the manufacture of fabrics.

The cut is fitted, but looks good on large men. Along with this, there are a number of points: Zegna suits do not use manual labor when sewing, and a considerable number of suits are made in Turkey or Bulgaria.

Restrained and strict colors, you will not find bright and defiant things here. The brand was created for fans of restrained style.

It is worth buying if their patterns suit you perfectly, and you have not found something suitable for yourself in the brands described earlier. Prices start from 120 thousand for a suit, you can buy it at the Central Department Store, Tretyakovsky Proyezd, Crocus City Mall or Barvikha.

Suits from 160 thousand

TomFord. The brand produces classic suits with fashion design elements. For example, on all Tom Ford suits and jackets you will see wide, peaked lapels, 5 buttons for each sleeve and high waist trousers with no belt loops.

It will look best on athletic and fit men: the silhouette of the suits is quite aggressive, and is not suitable for very large men. Costumes stand out and are remembered. Sold in the Central Department Store, Tretyakovsky passage, the cost is from 150 thousand.

d'Avenza. In our ranking of the best suits, we put d'Avenza suits in third place. With the help of a sewing machine, only three main seams are sewn in jackets of this brand: all other tailors do it by hand. The cut is impeccable, the smallest details are worked out.

Prices start at 140 thousand in Moscow, with an average of 170-190 thousand per suit. Sold in Gio Boutique in the Ukraine Hotel and Camisa boutique on Bolshaya Tatarskaya Street.

Kiton. Well-known brand, second place in our ranking of suits. Signature Neapolitan cut: long "shirt" shoulder, soft fit. Things often run small, and a suit that is a size larger than you are used to wearing may suit you. Cost from 240 thousand rubles for basic models. Sold in Stoleshnikov Lane, Central Department Store, Barvikha.

CaesarAttolini. Number one among costume manufacturers in the world. Founded in the 1930s, Vincenzo Attolini created exactly the Neapolitan style that other brands sew. They produce no more than 35 suits a day, almost all the seams in the jackets are handmade. Prices start at 200 thousand, sold in the Alta Sartoria boutique on Kutuzovsky Prospekt.

The rating does not mention the Brioni brand: the fact is that the Brioni cut is designed for large and very large men, with a rigid silhouette and shoulder line: it does not sit well on everyone. But the main reason is that their suits, which cost from 200 thousand, do not use manual labor, and technologically they lose to other brands from the rating.

A branded suit is stylish comfortable clothing. It can be used both for everyday wear and exclusively for attending business events. The suit is appropriate everywhere and always. It belongs to those few types of clothing that are not influenced by fashion and better than any words will tell about the position of a business man in society.

When can you start wearing expensive suits?

Despite its versatility, a high-end suit is not for everyone. A 2nd or 3rd year student is unlikely to look spectacular in such clothes. At the same time, on a man over 25 years old, who has the appropriate manners, an expensive suit will look solid.

An important role is played by other wardrobe items and accessories. Shirt, tie, shoes - all these things must match the price category of the suit. Cufflinks and watches should look expensive. Any inconsistency will “put an end to” the image of a man, so the choice of wardrobe items must be treated very scrupulously.

If we form an average image of the owner of an elite suit, then it can be described as follows: a middle-aged man who loves or for some reason is forced to wear classic clothes and has a sufficient level of well-being to buy branded clothes and accessories without significant harm to his own budget.

The difference between men's expensive suits from ordinary ones.

No matter how hard manufacturers try to “fit” their clothes to the criteria of branded items, an experienced eye will always find the difference. The fact is that costumes costing from 50,000 rubles (note about $ 1,000) have a number of unique advantages, which, of course, mass factory models cannot boast of.

Textile

Most elite suits are made from expensive woolen fabrics, which are indicated by the “S” index. For the production of linen, the wool of New Zealand and Australian sheep is traditionally used, the fibers of which are distinguished by a large length (at least 7 mm) and a small diameter. The very same marking "S" means the length of the thread made from one kilogram of wool. Accordingly, a fabric with an index of S "160 will be valued higher than a fabric with an index of S" 120.

Fabrics with a precious composition deserve special attention. According to many designers, a canvas with the inclusion of gold or diamond chips is nothing more than a whim. At the same time, the true indicator of quality is the 100% naturalness of fabrics. Along with wool, fabrics with the addition of cashmere, silk, and in summer linen or bamboo are used.

Hand cut

Handmade is not only a kind of luxury, but also a guarantee that the suit will fit well. Take, for example, the combination of a fabric pattern. Manual cutting allows you to get a suit sewn as if from one piece. But modern automation is not always able to perfectly combine the geometry of the pattern. There is no place for glue in an expensive suit sewn by a professional tailor. This is especially noticeable on the jacket, which sits on the body like a thin shirt. Another important point is the elasticity of the shoulder girdle. Jackets, in which this element is stitched on a sewing machine, are characterized by rigid fixation and therefore are not able to adapt to the figure of a person. The seams created by the hands of the master, on the contrary, are distinguished by a certain degree of freedom, and therefore, after the second or third wear, such handmade suits fit perfectly on the figure of a business man.

All these nuances seem to be insignificant trifles, but the appearance of a man depends on them. Their combination makes it possible to distinguish an expensive men's suit from consumer goods even to a non-professional. By the way, in order for the new suit to show all its positive qualities, it needs to be carried a little. A few days of active wear will allow him to "get used" to your figure. Therefore, try not to wear freshly bought suits to business meetings, otherwise your image may be slightly spoiled.

Men's suits require special care, they are never worn two days in a row, and between dry cleaning clothes need to be steam bathed periodically. That is, having filled the bath halfway with hot water, you need to hang the suit for the night to "breathe", while strong creases will be smoothed out and the fabric will receive the necessary relaxation. After that, it can be hung for 10-12 hours on the balcony, where unpleasant odors will disappear from it and the fabric will finally restore its attractive appearance.

In the wardrobe of a business man, instead of a large number of mediocre suits, it is better to have a few handmade suits that will last longer without losing their appearance. The same rule applies to expensive men's shirts and jackets. In general, an expensive branded suit carries a charge of energy that masters of their craft at a small manufactory have invested in it. And this positive energy is transferred to its owner, allowing you to stand out from the gray mass of ordinary clerks.
