Mad money performance duration. Crazy money. Maly Theater (branch). actress Polina Lazareva as Lydia Cheboksarova

Crazy money is random money that doesn’t stay in your pocket for long. There are always not enough of them, like the heroine of the play Lidochka, because she does not know the value of a penny or even a ruble. This classic comedy the famous Russian playwright A.N. Ostrovsky and about you and me, about our time. Alexander Ostrovsky is a master of fast-paced intrigue, witty dialogue, and the characters in his plays are interesting. “Humanity is abolished, that which gives life its value and meaning is abolished...” - A.N. wrote bitterly. Ostrovsky in one of his letters. This “abolition of humanity” appeared before us in the satirical mirror of “Mad Money.” Ostrovsky did not work on this play for long - he began on October 25, 1869, and on January 18, 1870 the manuscript was finally completed. The comedy was met with hostility by critics - the image of Vasilkov, the main character of the play, was not understood. A natural question arose - why this positive hero behaves somewhat strangely. They wanted to present Vasilkov as a hero of “the present moment, coming into conflict with an outdated, indebted, ruined and corrupted world,” instead it turned out that the playwright brought out “some kind of mysterious person, about which it is even difficult to say what it is.” They wanted to see a romantic in Vasilkov, while Ostrovsky wrote about a new type of capitalist businessman, a phenomenon unprecedented in the early seventies of the 19th century. The play was staged at the Maly Theater, was a huge success, but was almost never performed in the 20th century. At the end of the twentieth century, Ostrovsky's attitude towards this drama changed dramatically. The relevance of the topic of “mad” money is especially obvious today. “Smart” money collides with “mad” money at almost every turn. Explanations are hardly required. Ostrovsky writes about only one such “skirmish,” but it is much more entertaining and talented than in the dispassionate reports of modern information services. Ostrovsky in this play showed how love and beauty are sold. Savva Gennadich Vasilkov is a young provincial who strives to metropolitan society do something out of place. He is captivated by the beauty of Lydia Cheboksarova, a spoiled and almost cynical person, accustomed to “gold dust” and cannot imagine herself without it. An insidiously spread rumor about Vasilkov’s millions attracts the attention of Cheboksarova’s mother, who knows about her lack of money. Greed takes you far: Lydia becomes Vasilkov’s wife. A marriage of convenience is doomed, disappointment follows quickly - the husband is economical, almost stingy. The one who was previously only funny is now hated. The spoiled beauty cannot stand petty savings in everyday life and moves to another apartment. Lydia, in the hope of help, stretches out her hands to her suitors - “daddy” Kuchumov, the sarcastic Glumov and the infernal dandy Telyatev. “I can’t live without gold”, “There is nothing worse than poverty”, “To be afraid of vice when everyone is vicious is stupid and imprudent” - these are her favorite aphorisms, which have become her life credo. Alas, they have all been living “on credit” for a long time and mercilessly and sarcastically point out to her the windows of her husband’s house: they say, the money is there, for “it is not the one who is rich who has a lot of money, but the one who knows how to get it.” Ostrovsky in “Mad Money” is accurate as a psychologist when he combines such arrogant ignorance of the “low prose” of life with cynical, outrageously arrogant predatory pressure. Lydia clearly formulates: “The greatest vice is poverty.” Critics reproached the playwright for being a little too salty, endowing Lydia Cheboksarova with such blatant frankness. But, perhaps, the cynicism, outlandish in such a young and charming creature, was not the playwright’s armchair invention. But less than Vasilkov, Lydia Cheboksarova was in her way the newest product of the time.

For the anniversary of the people's favorite People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva, the Mayakovsky Theater is producing a play based on Alexander Ostrovsky's play "Mad Money". It is curious that for the young director Anatoly Shuliev this is the first work on the main stage of the Mayakovsky Theater and the first serious appeal to Russian classical drama. According to Shuliev, previously he nevertheless dealt with dramaturgy, which contains absurdist themes, in particular, we're talking about about the production “I was in the house and waited ...” based on the play by J.-L. Lagarsa Shulieva on small stage Mayakovki last season. A student of Rimas Tuminas, Shuliev received an excellent directing school, which can be felt from the first minutes of watching his new performance. Also pleasing is the young director’s ability to create a single acting ensemble on stage, where each of the actors plays Ostrovsky’s classic play, as it is in tradition - tasty, juicy, bright. A wonderful trinity of people close to the Cheboksarov house - Telyatev, Kuchumov and Glumov - performed (in turn) by Vitaly Grebennikov, Alexander Andrienko and Konstantin Konstantinov - three absolutely different images, at the same time you rejoice in the colors found by each actor. Each image is filled with irony and self-irony.

Anatoly Shuliev called his production of the play “Mad Money” a comedy of obsession. After all modern people sometimes obsessed with the desire to get rich and have material wealth. The heroes of Ostrovsky’s play are also obsessed with this. The main character of the play, Lydia Cheboksarova (exact work by Polina Lazareva), wants (or rather demands from life and from fate) crazy money, wants everything in life to come to her easily and simply. According to People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva, at the time when she began her acting career, people were much less interested material benefits, the basis was still spiritual life. Today Ostrovsky’s play has become even more relevant and its appearance on the Mayakovka stage could not have come at a better time. Nemolyaeva herself got the role of Nadezhda Antonovna Cheboksarova - mother main character. Performed by Nemolyaeva, the heroine is endowed with cunning, cunning, her main goal is the happiness of her own daughter and for this, loving mother will do anything. The family duet of Svetlana Nemolyaeva and Polina Lazareva, playing mother and daughter respectively, attracts attention. In the role of Savva Vasilkov is actor Alexey Dyakin, one of the leaders of the new generation in the Mayakovka troupe. An actor who has already given the viewer a number of outstanding roles, for the third time in Mayakovka he encounters Ostrovsky’s dramaturgy. The viewer can also see Dyakin in performances based on Ostrovsky's plays "On a Lively Place" and "Dowry".

We bring to your attention a photo of Ilya Zolkin from the play:

“” is a performance based on the play by the classic of Russian literature A.N. Ostrovsky, which you can see in the repertoire of the Maly Theater. This is the story of Savva Vasilkov (his image on the stage of the Maly Theater is embodied by V. Nizova). Savva Vasilkov is a young provincial, unsophisticated at first glance; he falls in love with the cynical, spoiled beauty Lydia Cheboksarova (Svetlana Amanova), who simply cannot imagine herself outside the environment of luxurious and expensive things. The rumor about Vasilkov's wealth brings Cheboksarova to the point that she not only turns her attention to the provincial guy, but even marries him. However, very soon the bride is disappointed in her choice, having discovered her husband’s stinginess. Those traits of his character that previously seemed funny to her become hateful. Lydia, in desperation, turns to her former suitors, but they, living in debt, sarcastically point out ex-lover to my husband's house. “It’s not the one who is rich who has a lot of money, but the one who knows how to get it,” they seem to hint to Lydia.

The play “Mad Money” at the Maly Theater perfectly demonstrates the provincial life of Ostrovsky’s era, emphasized by poster stands, twisted fence bars, balloons and lanterns, curtains and couches, candlesticks and mirrors, flowerpots, picturesque figurines, panels - and, of course, stylized costumes of the characters. Yes, there are a lot of little things here, but their abundance does not distract attention from the performance, and Ostrovsky’s reading itself looks fascinating and worthy.

What is “mad money”? This is money that does not stay in your wallet, money that is “nimble”, money that is “fidgety”. This means that the play “Mad Money” (as well as the rest of the works of the great classic) are still relevant today, at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Witty dialogues, fast-paced intrigue, exciting plot, heartfelt story and deep philosophy - all these features inherent in the work of the great master are brilliantly revealed creative team Maly Theater in one of its best productions. The main roles in the play, in addition to Viktor Nizovoy and Svetlana Amanova, are played by Alevtina Evdokimova, Valery Babyatinsky and many others famous actors Maly Theater. The production director of the play is V. Ivanov, Honored Artist of Russia.

Genre: Comedy in 2 acts.

The duration of the performance is 2 hours 45 minutes.

In which the actress has been serving for more than 50 years, he staged a play based on the play Alexander Ostrovsky "Mad Money"(I advise all fans of the work of playwright Ostrovsky to visit).

Ostrovsky is still relevant a century and a half later, so the play is watched in one breath.

Plot:

The heroine Lydia is young and ambitious, she is admired by the entire Moscow elite. She is used to living in grand style and is in search of the only one who would ensure her comfortable existence. Having heard about the fabulous wealth of a provincial entrepreneur, the beauty makes her choice, but makes a mistake in her calculations.

Directed by Anatoly Shuliev, a graduate of the directing department of the Rimas Tuminas course. At the theater. Mayakovsky's "Big Money" is the second performance of the young director.

The main character - Lidia Cheboksarova, accustomed to recklessly squandering her parents’ money and not thinking about anything other than her own pleasure, plays Polina Lazareva, granddaughter of Svetlana Vladimirovna Nemolyaeva, whom you can see, for example, in “Talents and Admirers” or “All My Sons”. She plays interestingly, you definitely believe her. And looking around you notice young men and girls similar to her. Their dialogue with her mother is very indicative of the concept of her essence:

Nadezhda Antonovna (sniffing alcohol). The husband writes that he has money
no, that he himself needs thirty thousand, otherwise they will sell the estate; and the estate
this is the last one.
L and d and I. It's a pity! But you must admit, maman, that I could not have done this
to know that you could take pity on me and not tell me about your ruin.
Nadezhda Antonovna. But anyway, you would have found out later.
L and d and I. But why should I find out later? (Almost with tears.) After all, you
find a way to get out of this situation, because you will certainly find it, so
You can't stay. After all, we will not leave Moscow, we will not go to the village; and in
In Moscow we cannot live like beggars! One way or another, you must ensure that nothing changes in our lives. I have to get married this winter,
make a good party. After all, you are a mother, don’t you know this? Can't you figure out, if you haven't figured out, how to live through one winter without dropping
your dignity? You think, you! Why are you telling me about
something I shouldn't know? You deprive me of peace, you deprive me
me carefree, which is the best decoration of a girl. Mama, you would think alone and cry alone if you need to cry.

Other actors are also very good:

Alexey Dyakin in the role Savva Gennadich Vasilkov, provincial entrepreneur, man" new era", who believes that at present it is quite possible to get rich and is making certain efforts in this direction. Vasilkov, who is in love, is emotional, he may even seem stupid, but reason does not completely leave him:

Vasilkov: That’s what my heart told me too; I suddenly fell in love
as a minor, he fell in love to the point that he was ready to do stupid things. It’s good that I have a strong will and, no matter how carried away I am, I will not go beyond the budget. Oh my God! This strict subordination to a certain budget has saved me more than once in life.

Ostrovsky shows that such people are the future, but do they have enough kindness and mercy or is everything subordinated only to the goal of profit?

Vitaly Grebennikov in the role Ivan Petrovich Telyatev, a bankrupt nobleman living from loan to loan, for which the debt hole is “crying”. Grebennikov managed to create a charming image, on the one hand, of a jester who easily flits through life, on the other hand, as always, such a character understands life more deeply and has no illusions about himself and the world around him, but evaluates everything very soberly. From his own lips comes a phrase explaining the meaning of the title of the play:

T e l i t e v. Now money has become smarter, everything
they come to business people, not to us. And before, money was stupider. That's it
That's the kind of money you need.
L and d and I. Which?
T e l i t e v. Crazy. So I got all the crazy ones, but none of them
You can't keep it in your pocket. Do you know, I recently figured out why you and I have so much money? Because we didn’t make them ourselves. Money earned through labor is smart money. They lie still. We beckon them to us, but they don’t come; They say: “We know what kind of money you need, we won’t come to you.” And no matter how you ask them, they won’t go. What’s a shame is that they don’t want to get to know us.

Konstantin Konstantinov in the role Egor Dmitrich Glumov, an intriguer and lover of barbs is also good. This is such an “evil genius” of the play.

Alexander Andrienko as a master Grigory Borisovich Kuchumov who tries to seem rich and generous, but in fact lives only on the money of his wife and relatives.

All three: Kuchumov, Glumov and Telyatev are of the same breed, have no funds and are trying in one way or another to get a job in life at someone else’s expense. They court Cheboksarova a little, without any serious intentions.

AND last character performance - servant Gregory, performed Yuri Nikulin. He serves Vasilkov (there are some differences in this from the play) and is quite modern, like the owner. He masters the car and stands guard over the business interests of Savva Gennadich.

Summary. The performance is classic, suitable for family viewing (you can go with parents or teenage children), there are funny moments that make the viewer smile.

My reviews of performances by other theaters:

"Idiot" Theater named after Mossovet

"Sea Voyage 1933" Theater named after. Mossovet

"The Cherry Orchard" Lenkom Theater

"School of Wives" theater under the direction of O. Tabakov
