Tickets for crazy money. The play “Mad Money Mad Money on the Ordynka”

For the anniversary of the people's favorite People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva, the Mayakovsky Theater is producing a play based on Alexander Ostrovsky's play "Mad Money". It is curious that for the young director Anatoly Shuliev this is the first work on the main stage of the Mayakovsky Theater and the first serious appeal to Russian classical drama. According to Shuliev, previously he nevertheless dealt with dramaturgy, which contains absurdist themes, in particular, we're talking about about the production “I was in the house and waited ...” based on the play by J.-L. Lagarsa Shulieva on small stage Mayakovki last season. A student of Rimas Tuminas, Shuliev received an excellent directing school, which can be felt from the first minutes of watching his new performance. Also pleasing is the young director’s ability to create a single acting ensemble on stage, where each of the actors plays Ostrovsky’s classic play, as it is in tradition - tasty, juicy, bright. A wonderful trinity of people close to the Cheboksarov house - Telyatev, Kuchumov and Glumov - performed (in turn) by Vitaly Grebennikov, Alexander Andrienko and Konstantin Konstantinov - three absolutely different images, at the same time you rejoice in the colors found by each actor. Each image is filled with irony and self-irony.

Anatoly Shuliev called his production of the play “Mad Money” a comedy of obsession. After all modern people sometimes obsessed with the desire to get rich and have material wealth. The heroes of Ostrovsky’s play are also obsessed with this. The main character of the play, Lydia Cheboksarova (exact work by Polina Lazareva), wants (or rather demands from life and from fate) crazy money, wants everything in life to come to her easily and simply. According to People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva, at the time when she began her acting career, people were much less interested material benefits, the basis was still spiritual life. Today Ostrovsky’s play has become even more relevant and its appearance on the Mayakovka stage could not have come at a better time. Nemolyaeva herself got the role of Nadezhda Antonovna Cheboksarova - mother main character. Performed by Nemolyaeva, the heroine is endowed with cunning, cunning, her main goal is the happiness of her own daughter and for this, loving mother will do anything. The family duet of Svetlana Nemolyaeva and Polina Lazareva, playing mother and daughter respectively, attracts attention. In the role of Savva Vasilkov is actor Alexey Dyakin, one of the leaders of the new generation in the Mayakovka troupe. An actor who has already given the viewer a number of outstanding roles, for the third time in Mayakovka he encounters Ostrovsky’s dramaturgy. The viewer can also see Dyakin in performances based on Ostrovsky's plays "On a Lively Place" and "Dowry".

“” is a performance based on the play by the classic of Russian literature A.N. Ostrovsky, which you can see in the repertoire of the Maly Theater. This is the story of Savva Vasilkov (his image on the stage of the Maly Theater is embodied by V. Nizova). Savva Vasilkov is a young provincial, unsophisticated at first glance; he falls in love with the cynical, spoiled beauty Lydia Cheboksarova (Svetlana Amanova), who simply cannot imagine herself outside the environment of luxurious and expensive things. The rumor about Vasilkov's wealth brings Cheboksarova to the point that she not only turns her attention to the provincial guy, but even marries him. However, very soon the bride is disappointed in her choice, having discovered her husband’s stinginess. Those traits of his character that previously seemed funny to her become hateful. Lydia, in desperation, turns to her former suitors, but they, living in debt, sarcastically point out ex-lover to my husband's house. “It’s not the one who is rich who has a lot of money, but the one who knows how to get it,” they seem to hint to Lydia.

The play “Mad Money” at the Maly Theater perfectly demonstrates the provincial life of Ostrovsky’s era, emphasized by poster stands, twisted fence bars, balloons and lanterns, curtains and couches, candlesticks and mirrors, flowerpots, picturesque figurines, panels - and, of course, stylized costumes of the characters. Yes, there are a lot of little things here, but their abundance does not distract attention from the performance, and Ostrovsky’s reading itself looks fascinating and worthy.

What is “mad money”? This is money that does not stay in your wallet, money that is “nimble”, money that is “fidgety”. This means that the play “Mad Money” (as well as the rest of the works of the great classic) are still relevant today, at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Witty dialogues, fast-paced intrigue, exciting plot, heartfelt story and deep philosophy - all these features inherent in the work of the great master are brilliantly revealed creative team Maly Theater in one of its best productions. The main roles in the play, in addition to Viktor Nizovoy and Svetlana Amanova, are played by Alevtina Evdokimova, Valery Babyatinsky and many others famous actors Maly Theater. Another performance based on the dramaturgy of Alexander Ostrovsky appeared in the repertoire of the Mayakovsky Theater. This time the comedy "Mad Money". The premiere was timed to coincide with the anniversary of People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva.

There is no need to talk about the relevance of the play - money, like thirst beautiful life, have always been one of the most important motivators. Most of The heroes of the play are representatives of the bankrupt Moscow nobility: they still ride in carriages, drink champagne, keep servants, but all this is on credit. While the nascent bourgeoisie, on the contrary, is thinking about “how not to get out of the budget.” They all live in a time when sudden ruins and rises occur, unexpected sources of income are born, when everything is traded, even beauty.

The heroine Lydia is young and ambitious, she is admired by the entire Moscow elite: from high school students to government representatives. She is used to living on a large scale and is in search of the only one who “in both sorrow and joy” would ensure her comfortable existence. Having heard about the fabulous wealth of a provincial entrepreneur, the beauty makes her choice, but is slightly mistaken in her calculations... In the Mayakovsky Theater performance there is no didactics or any kind of moralizing - here they are trying to show living people on stage and trying to understand their human essence.

Nadezhda Antonovna Cheboksarova - Svetlana Nemolyaeva
Lydia - Polina Lazareva

Photo and video

We need to remind you, in case anyone has forgotten: Nemolyaeva played fifty roles in her native theater. Her uncle, her father’s brother, once served as an actor here, and in 1959 she was accepted into the troupe at the same time as Alexander Lazarev. A year later they got married. Now Svetlana Nemolyaeva appears on the Mayakovka stage in six performances. In two of them - together with his granddaughter, Polina Lazareva.

The family duo also takes part in a frantic race for money based on Ostrovsky's play - they play mother and daughter. Polina says that working with her grandmother is easy and useful: they know each other perfectly, and are close great actress playing is always happiness. The most curious thing is that director Anatoly Shuliev, having proposed such a distribution of roles to artistic director Mindaugas Karbauskis, did not yet know that Nemolyaeva and Lazareva are grandmother and granddaughter. But this is forgivable: Shuliev, a student of Rimas Tuminas, is staging only his second performance in Mayakovka.

So, Svetlana Nemolyaeva plays Nadezhda Antonovna Cheboksarova. A meek, harmless old mother, caring for the happiness of her daughter, a girl of marriageable age. But, as often happens, decency is just a mask, behind which is the desire to live wow, only on a grand scale. Behind every jewelry-precise gesture is an attempt to probe someone else's pocket. Well, or not entirely a stranger - the pocket of a potential husband who, as an honest person, will take both her and her daughter for support.

It’s not difficult for Nadezhda Antonovna to “speculate” - the techniques have been worked out on my own husband, who never considered government money if the needs of the female part of the family required it. And putting her daughter up for auction - albeit a veiled one - is also easy for her: Lydia, in fact, dreams of the same thing as her mother. Only the daughter is more straightforward, without maternal sentiments. Polina Lazareva plays her like that - smoothly, as if despite her famous stage partner. The voice is thick, the gestures are generous.

And Svetlana Nemolyaeva subtly fusses, wrings her hands - at the same time she very accurately conveys the vigor of her heroine’s character on a physical level. She is not frightened by Vasilkov’s active, trembling handshakes, nor by the pressure of her “daughter-granddaughter.” It bends, but does not break, it trembles, but only externally. Doesn't fall out of the image of God's dandelion.

A merchant for the goods was quickly found - Lydia Cheboksarova was a prestigious bride, so it was not difficult for her to take the provincial Vasilkov into circulation. The deal, which at first seemed dishonest, turned out to be very fair. Both Vasilkov and Lydia were looking for very specific things in marriage. That's what they received. The only question is which of them will be more acumen, “businesslike”.

Vasilkov's grip won. He is a businessman, his money did not fall from the sky and he did not inherit it. He knows how to both earn and save. And he did the same with Lydia - he hired her as a housekeeper, promising income for this. Now he harnessed his not quite wife to the cart - and drove towards a bright future.

Of course, this is all theater. But something tells me: people like this will definitely get to this bright future.
