I grew up in Kazakhstan, in the village of Leninsky, which is eleven kilometers from the city of Pavlodar. At the age of 11 he became interested in rap, at 15 he began to write music, then there were the first groups and creative associations in Pavlodar, Alma-Ata. In 2009, my friend Anuar, who is still performing with me, created the Jillz group, thanks to which they began to recognize us in all cities of Kazakhstan. In 2013, we shot a video for the song "Choice without Options", posted it on the network, not expecting any special effect. But the guys from Gazgolder noticed us, then there were negotiations with the Soyuz recording label, but we decided to release it on Gazgolder. All this time I lived in Pavlodar and only six months ago I moved to Moscow.

And how is life in Moscow?

Well, how is life - work. Only quite recently I moved into my apartment, before that I spent all my time on Gaza. And then my girlfriend left on business, and in order not to stay at home alone, I again came to the "Gas", spent the night right there, I do not get out of here. In principle, I am not attached to cities, except perhaps to Pavlodar. And since it is now convenient for me to be physically in Moscow, I am here. It's easier to go on tour from the capital, here you need to meet on business, act in videos. And you can record anywhere, if only there is a desire. 70% of the album "House with normal phenomena" was recorded in Pavlodar, many acapellas were taken dirty - they were made at home without soundproofing.

Are you not afraid that after moving to Moscow you will cease to be a nugget from the provinces and start doing your next commercial project?

With me are my boys who will not let me become arrogant or change my bearings in life. I didn’t aspire to Moscow, I moved out of necessity. I have never done music for the sake of women or money, as is the case with many. The money, which is enough in Moscow, does not change attitudes towards people, only the scale is increasing, I am sure. Only now I am able to financially help my parents and sister. I despise one character trait of rappers, and other people also have it: those who cannot earn money say that creativity for the sake of money is bullshit. Those who do their job only for themselves simply cannot achieve anything and are deceiving themselves. I am not pretending to be a good boy who wishes only peace to everyone in the whole world. I want to live a great life and help people. One does not interfere with the other, you just do not need to drive life into a framework.

Which American or domestic hip-hop influenced your style?

As a child, I was influenced by two Eminem albums: The Eminem Show and Encore, as well as the persona Dr. Dre in their context, because it was he who put together the puzzle, created a high-quality sound, helped to withstand everything in one mood. So in my head a standard was formed of what an album should be - not a collection or a folder with tracks, but a whole picture. This is how I recorded my debut album. Beatmakers - all those who write music and are looking for samples - need to shovel a lot of material. I have studied everything myself: from jazz of the 1920s to ethnicity, rock, blues, soul, and more or less I understand everything. Such immersion is the same school, just like we go to the library, read encyclopedias and draw knowledge. Therefore, I wanted to do something Latin, I wrote "Dance yourself" on the basis of my knowledge. And I finally gave up listening to Russian rap in 2009.

Why?

Our generation from an early age got used to perceiving copies of Western music: in the 1970s, the USSR was labeled "pop music", and it was the same soul and funk, only with less dynamic chants. We have been accustomed to the worst copy of the originals. Russian rap, even not copying purposefully American, is still very similar to the earliest compositions of the founders of this genre from a musical point of view. Now many guys, if not in step with American rap, then very close. But they cannot adapt the meanings to our mentality, so the texts look like a literal translation into Russian. I myself had a period until 2009 with ponty rap and anglicisms - then we learned how to make sound at the western level. And another five years were spent on making ordinary human topics sound cool and understandable, like the usual “bitch, bitch, money, money”. Have learned. And it became a mark, an indicator for ourselves that we have grown.

What are the themes of your songs?

I talk about women - I like to delve into their psychology. In general, my main topic is people as such. Charles Bukowski said well: “My genius grows out of an interest in whores, working people, tram conductors - in lonely people, nailed down by life. And I would like these people to read my writings. " I am talking about the life of an ordinary resident of the post-Soviet space with ordinary everyday problems. Therefore, I try to express myself more easily in my texts, so that my thoughts are accessible to many. What's the point of writing music if they don't understand you? I don’t understand rappers who read about their rap. I consider them to be very flawed people. Where is the rest of their life? Where are the people in it?

Is it important to you what kind of people listen to you?

It was unpleasant when I, in a full hall in Astana, read about young majors who spend their father's money, who absolutely did not understand their value, and at the same time it was such people who stood in the first row, about a hundred people, with joyful faces waving their hands, not realizing that I it spoke of them. At the concert-presentation of the album "House with Normal Phenomena" in Moscow, perhaps, there were not those people who live the life I am talking about, but at least they can understand it. There were people from twenty-two years old, which cannot but rejoice. I would like to see an older audience in the hall. Of course, teenagers are the most grateful audience, but they don't understand everything in my lyrics. I don't want people under the age of eighteen to listen to my songs, and it doesn't matter that I lose money on it.
