- Gariella, 10 years ago you moved from Brazil to Moscow. What connects you with Rio today?

Oh, Rio is my favorite city on earth. My parents, childhood friends, live here. This is a crazy metropolis with a huge number of people. It is gigantic and stretches along the coast for almost 300 kilometers. There are a lot of gorgeous beaches there. I recommend everyone to visit Rio at least once in their life. This is a magical place... You will never regret it!

- But you, nevertheless, decided to exchange this “magical place” for Russian capital. Why?

It was a very difficult decision for me to move to Moscow after the wedding. There, in Brazil, I had a family, friends, a career. I became an honorary citizen of Rio, and my voice was recognized as one of the best in the country. In Russia we had to start all over again. My husband is a Muscovite, we met in the Old Havana restaurant. The final concert of my European tour took place there. It was impossible to maintain a long-distance relationship. I left and then returned to Moscow again. And only after the wedding we had in Rio, I was able to move completely. And you know, now I don’t regret anything.

Gabriella with her husband and daughter

The sea, or rather the ocean. In Rio, you can come to the coast at any time, swim or take a walk, think, breathe and relax. This is what I really miss. And, of course, the sun. For me there is very little of it in Moscow, because in Brazil there are more than 300 sunny days per year. It's worst in winter. You know, I still remember my first winter in Russia. Almost immediately after I moved in, frost hit. Back then I couldn’t stand sub-zero temperatures at all and was constantly freezing. I didn’t know the language, I couldn’t even go to the store. No friends, no work. It was six months of severe trials for me. But with the arrival of spring, everything began to change. I learned Russian, met new people and started singing again. Now I consider Moscow my home. Here is my family, my children are sunshine, my beloved husband. Although I still miss Rio, and I fly there as soon as possible.

- When was the last time you were there?

For the May holidays. We went there with the whole family. The city has changed, it has become cleaner, there are no longer heaps of garbage lying on the streets as before. Many new roads have appeared, and now getting from one area to another has become much easier. My parents live in the Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood. I spent my entire childhood there. This is a new area with glass skyscrapers, shopping centers and offices and, most importantly, the excellent Barra beach, which is even larger than Capocabana. I must say that these places have not changed much. Barra da Tijuca has always been one of the most prosperous. And, thank God, everything remained that way.

Compose a kind of rating for our readers, where should you go to feel the spirit of Rio? And where exactly should you not go?

Christ statue - business card Rio. It's like Red Square in Moscow. Must see No. 1. There are several ways to get to the statue: by train or by minibus. You will be dropped off at the foot of the mountain, and then you can go up either on foot or by escalator. Walk for about 10 minutes, no more. But along the way you will have stunning views of the mountains and the Atlantic. What else? Mount Pan di Azucar, or Sugarloaf. From there a dizzying panorama of the city opens. You can get to the top by cable car. The lower station is located on Avenue Pasteur. From the top it’s great to watch the sunset and watch dusk fall on Rio. The city lights up and becomes simply fabulous.

Cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain

Another iconic place- Selaron staircase. It is best to explore it during the day; in the evening it is simply crowded. In addition, all these 215 steps, decorated with tiles, are interesting to look at. Each is different from the other. And of course, the very heart of the city is Copacabana Beach. It's good there at any time of the day, although it is more crowded during the day and evening. Many tourists, I know, tend to choose a hotel near the beach. But I recommend staying in the areas of Barra da Tijuca or Recreio. It's the safest there. And, of course, I do not advise anyone to visit favelas. Even out of pure curiosity. They don't like strangers there, especially those who come alone, unaccompanied. These are the most crime-ridden areas of Rio.

- What dishes and drinks should you definitely try in Rio?

In Rio de Janeiro, be sure to visit meat restaurants - churrascarias. In Brazil, all types of meat are excellently prepared, but our chefs are best at beef. The most delicious steak is, of course, picanha. To prepare it, take the meat from the sacral part, rub it with salt and simply fry it over coals. It's soft, textured and delicious, especially with the chemichuri sauce.

As for drinks, you will definitely like the Caipirinha cocktail. It is made from Brazilian cachaça vodka with the addition of fruit. Caipirinha comes in lemon, raspberry, pineapple - in general, you should try them all, and then decide for yourself which one tastes better.

This is how they cook meat in Brazil

Having lived in two large cities, what myths could you dispel among Muscovites about Rio, and among Brazilians about Moscow?

These are safety myths. For some reason it is believed that in Russia and Brazil there are very high level crime, so many foreigners are simply afraid to visit our countries. But in vain. Personally, I feel absolutely protected in Moscow and Rio. Certainly, law enforcement agencies there is still something to fight with, but the scale of the “disaster” in the imagination of tourists is greatly exaggerated.

- What could Brazilians and Russians learn from each other?

My compatriots are very open, they know how to enjoy life and be happy, regardless of circumstances, social status, income level. The Russians, it seems to me, lack this. They are serious, but at the same time very hardworking and responsible. But these are qualities that Brazilians should adopt.

- Did you manage to travel around Russia? Which city did you like the most?

Yes, I traveled a lot around Russia with concerts. Visited Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, Penza and many others. But I liked Sochi the most. This is an amazing city with modern infrastructure and stunning nature. And I was amazed by the opportunity to relax at the resort all year round - skiing in the mountains in winter, and sunbathing and swimming in summer.

- The holiday season is almost over. Where did you go on vacation?

This summer I have a lot of work: filming, recording, rehearsals. But I hope to take a week at the end of August and go to the Maldives. I need to gain strength, because in the fall I will release my first Russian-language album, “My Hero.” This is a big event for me. New presentations, concerts, tours are coming. And our daughter will go to first grade on September 1st. That's why we all need a little vacation. We will sunbathe, swim, recharge ourselves with energy for big things and grandiose events.

— Gabriella, you were in Brazil popular singer- and suddenly they left everything for the sake of love and came to live in Russia. Do you remember your first steps on Russian stage?

— The first time I came to Moscow was on tour with brazilian show as part of a group of 37 girls. This was more than six years ago. After one of the performances, I met my future husband. It was for him that I left home country and moved to Russia. At first it was very difficult for me because I didn’t know the language and I didn’t have a job. But then everything gradually began to improve: I took part in the “New Wave” competition, where I reached the finals, sang a duet with Sergei Mazaev at New Year's concert at the State Kremlin Palace, took part in “The Voice”.

— Is show business very different in Russia and in Brazil?

— In my homeland, artists constantly participate in large street concerts for 200-300 thousand people. Such shows are held almost every day. In Moscow, organizing such an event is a serious matter. And, most importantly, Brazilian singers never perform to a soundtrack. But, of course, to build a successful career, both in Brazil and in Russia, you need to work hard, and you also need luck. Nothing will work without her.

— Is there something in Russia that you still can’t get used to?

- Snow and cold. When winter comes, I start to feel depressed, and I urgently need to fly away to relax in warmer climes, at least for a short time.

— How did your parents let you go to this distant and cold Moscow?

— My mother was against it at first. She really didn’t want me to leave for an unfamiliar country, and kept asking: “Daughter, are you sure? Are you sure you love him? She calmed down only when she met Vitaly and his family. I realized that he good man and truly loves me.

- But at first you, too, were afraid of your future husband and even took friends with you on dates...

- Yes it's true. When Vitaly and I met, I didn’t know a single word of Russian, and I didn’t speak English well either. So I set a condition for him: I won’t go anywhere with you alone. And my friend actually went on dates with us for two weeks as a translator. True, then he got tired of it, and he said: “That’s it, Gabriella, I can’t do it anymore, I’ll continue on my own.”

- What are yours creative plans for the near future? Are you going to release an album?

— We are currently preparing an album. Just a month ago I wrote down new song“Shayk”, now we’ll make a video for it. And in November, with a 90 percent probability, my solo performance will take place - maybe even in the Kremlin.

— And yet, in what language do you sing more - Russian or Portuguese?

I used to sing more native language, but now - equally. I feel that I already think in Russian, and I want to perform with Russian songs.

— Do you continue to give concerts in Brazil?

— Now it’s quite difficult, because in Russia I have a very busy schedule. But when I’m in my homeland, I always try to perform there. By the way, we recently had a family vacation in Brazil, and I had a concert there.

— Did you also participate in Brazilian carnivals?

- Oh yeah! I just love it! I often danced on a large platform in a costume with feathers, and also sang on a mobile stage with musicians. When you perform and there is a large crowd of people in front of you, and everyone is dancing and having fun, it is an indescribable feeling. I really miss this kind of entertainment.

— If it’s not a secret, where do artists get more fees - in Brazil or in Russia?

- In Brazil. Actually, in my homeland famous singers they get decent money. In Moscow you can also earn a lot, but you need to be a real star. If I ever become that famous, we'll see what happens.

— Gabriella, for a mother of two children, you look great. How do you keep fit? Are you on a diet or doing fitness?

- Of course, I have to work on myself, because I perform on stage. But I don’t like diets and I never go on them, because I love to eat (laughs). I dance a lot and try to go to the gym, although I don’t always manage to do it regularly. Besides, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't eat bread, I drink a lot of water. True, I still can’t give up meat.

— You do not hide the fact that you resorted to the help of plastic surgeons. Is it true that in addition to breasts, they also performed vaginoplasty?

— No, I haven’t had vaginoplasty, but maybe someday I’ll get around to it. For now, my plans are to correct the shape of my nose and lips. In general, in my homeland many girls do plastic surgery, especially breast augmentation. It’s the same with Brazilians: their butts are big and their breasts are small. So women strive, so to speak, for proportionality.

— How does your husband feel about your plans for surgery?

- He doesn't mind. In general, I was very lucky with him. All my previous boyfriends were always against me pursuing a career and performing on stage. They said: “We’ll get married, you’ll sit at home, and I’ll earn money.” And I’ve been singing since I was seven, this is my whole life. And, thank God, Vitaly loves my work and shares my hobbies.

— Vitaly, but sometimes you have to show masculine firmness, say: we’ll do it this way and no other way?

Gabriella: - And he tells me that very often.

Vitaly: “But she doesn’t always listen.”

— Is this why there are conflicts? Who is the initiator of the quarrels?

Gabriella: - Husband!

Vitaly: Gabriella and I are both very emotional people. And to some extent this is even good, because any discomfort that arises in a relationship immediately spills out and then goes away. We have been together for nine years and have learned to interact with each other.

— Vitaly, how do you make peace with your wife after a quarrel? Gifts, a bouquet of flowers?

Vitaly: - Gabriella doesn’t like flowers at all, gifts are also not a method. The best way- This means sincerely admitting your guilt and apologizing. If she sees in my eyes that I really mean it and am not just pandering to her, she forgives everything.

- Gabriella, now you have friends who know each other in Russian show business? Is there anyone you can go out with for coffee, for example?

— There are many acquaintances, but only a few close friends: singer Belka, Izeta Gadzhieva - clothing designer, Olga Orlova. To be honest, in show business no one is friends with anyone at all. Because in relationships between artists there is constant competition, everyone wants to be the best.

— You probably felt this especially on the show “The Voice”?

- No. In our team we have developed very a good relationship, and there have never been any conflicts. Probably because all the participants were young, cheerful and a little crazy, like me.

- A Why did you even decide to take on this project?

— I hadn’t watched this show before and didn’t know anything about it. About casting season four A friend told me and persuaded me to go there. And, unexpectedly for myself, I passed the selection. The most difficult part began during the blind auditions. The organizers decided that I would sing “Lambada”. And I was very worried that I wouldn’t be able to perform it well. This is a rather emotional song, but when performing it you can show off your voice. And when Basta turned to me, I directly exhaled: “Thank God, I passed.”

— And when you had to leave the show, were you worried?

Vitaly: - I wouldn’t say that she was very upset. I was more worried.

Gabriella: - I already felt in advance that this would be mine last shoot on "The Voice". And that’s what happened in the end.

— Yes, and I really like it when people come up and ask to take a photo. There are artists who shun fans - crazy people, I don’t understand them. In the end, communicating with them is my job, I myself wanted and achieved this. I love my fans and am very grateful to them for their support and attention. After all, it is the audience that allows the artist to rise to the top and remain at the peak of fame.

Gabriella, you seem like a relaxed person; But would you agree to being filmed naked?

Gabriella: - No. Of course, today many stars post similar photos of themselves on social networks, but I’m not interested. I didn’t even want to go to a Russian bathhouse for a long time, because there I had to bathe naked.

Vitaly: - Yes, I decided to take her out when we were in Sochi. There is a wonderful bath complex where people come to cleanse their soul and body. But there is a mandatory part of the procedure when they take a person into a steam room and start beating him with brooms and pouring on him, for example, with live beer. And she really didn't want to go. She didn’t understand why she should undress, because there would be other men there—meaning the bathhouse attendants. Then she, however, really liked everything. But for some reason she told everything to her mother. And my mother-in-law began to go hysterical: she called and began demanding that Gariella urgently return to Brazil. He says your Russian scumbag took you somewhere to the mountains, to some sect. you there naked men They beat me, this is not normal, husbands don’t do that.

Singer Gabriella moved from Brazil to Moscow six years ago. In an interview with OK! she talked about what she misses most about Russia and what beauty standards are accepted in her homeland.

Photo: DR

Gabriella learned what a stage was at the age of seven. The talented girl was invited to participate in concerts and television programs; at the age of twelve she performed with own group, and at fourteen she won a competition for young performers in Rio de Janeiro. A couple of years later she was already filling entire stadiums and participating in various music shows. In short, the girl managed to become famous throughout Brazil even before she came of age. Gabriella became known to Russian audiences after the New Wave competition, in which the bright Latina reached the finals. However, winning a competition is not a sufficient reason to move to another country. According to the singer, main reason Her move to Russia was the love she met in Moscow. As time has shown, Gabriella made the right choice - her career in Russia began to gain momentum: the song “Samba of Past Love,” performed in a duet with Sergei Mazaev at a New Year’s concert at the State Kremlin Palace, was remembered by Dmitry Medvedev, who at that time was the President of the Russian Federation. Since then, Gabriella has become a regular participant in New Year's receptions in the Kremlin.

As far as I know, Gabriella is your stage name. And her real name is Ana Lucia. How are you addressed in Everyday life?

Gabriella. When I started working in Russia, I realized that Anna is a very popular name here. And then I decided to take a pseudonym. In general, I always loved this name, I even named my daughter that.

You already have two children. Did you somehow get back in shape after giving birth, or do you have a genetically good figure?

Yes, I also have a son, he is now two years old. I am a singer, I perform on stage, so, of course, I have to work on myself. No one will forgive you for cellulite just because you are a mother of two children. I do fitness and dance, I don’t eat bread, I drink a lot of water. True, I can’t give up meat and in general I really like to eat delicious food.

Do you miss any products that you cannot buy in our stores?

I especially miss black beans, which are used to make one of the national dishes Brazil - Feijoada. At home we eat it every day, but here we can’t cook it.

Beans are a fairly high-calorie product...

Yes, but here’s what’s surprising: in Brazil I lose weight, even if I eat beans every day, but in Moscow I always gain weight. By the way, this happens not only to me, but also to many of my Brazilian friends living in Russia. I think this is due to the climatic conditions: it’s hot there, and we really like to walk. It’s mostly cold here, and people mostly travel by car. Apparently the metabolism is slowing down.

I can’t help but ask about a currently fashionable product - acai berries, whose homeland is Brazil. Do you eat them yourself?

Certainly! But they are very high in calories. In Brazil, they are consumed mainly by athletes, as these berries help build mass. I try to eat less of them, although they are very tasty.

Do you think women in Russia and Brazil take different care of their appearance?

In Russia, women take great care of themselves; you have a lot of slim and fit women. We love women in their bodies, so the vast majority of girls have prominent breasts and butts. ( Smiling.) Brazilians, like Russians, take care of their bodies: they go to cosmetologists, massage therapists, and love sports. Men, by the way, cannot imagine life without football on the beach. We like to be close to nature.

Since we're talking about walks outdoors, tell me, do you think about sunscreen while in Russia?

I never even thought about them at home. ( Laughs.) In Russia, I actively use only moisturizing cream, three to four times a day - I have very dry skin.

Which cream is your favorite?

The one that comes to hand. I don’t remember names and don’t understand brands at all!

And if some brand offered you an advertising contract, would you accept?

Yes, sure! Especially if it is some kind of skin care product - face masks or something anti-cellulite. ( Smiling.)

I heard that in Brazil, many parents give their daughters... silicone breasts when they reach adulthood.

Is this an inexpensive procedure?

It all depends on the clinic and the professionalism of the doctor. Prices vary greatly, but it's definitely not worth saving. In general, in Brazil they do such operations very well, I think there are few dissatisfied people. I recently changed my implants: firstly, ten years have passed since I got them, and secondly, after giving birth they became very hard.

I looked through the statistics: Brazil is one of the leading countries in the production of nail polishes. Is love for bright manicures and pedicures in your blood?

This is the easiest way to change yourself almost every day: repaint your nails and your mood improves. Besides most years, we wear open shoes - apparently, that’s why we “consume” polishes in such large quantities.
