How to draw a cat in stages with a pencil is easy. Mastering the animalistic genre: how beautiful to draw a cat with a child

The cat is one of the most graceful creations of nature. She can be an aggressive predator, hiss, scratch, and can turn into a rolling purring ball of joy and warmth. The emotional spectrum of cats' behavior is very wide.

It is not surprising that many people have a desire to pick up pencils or paints and try to draw a fluffy beauty. Some draw famous cartoon characters (Leopold, Matroskin, Tom), some - pets or an imaginary cat.

Drawing a cat with a pencil

Before starting the creative process, you need to think about the main points:

  • Appearance (adult cat or kitten, color, coat length, eye color, etc.).
  • Pose (for a start, it is better to try to portray the cat, that it is standing or sitting).
  • Angle (full face, profile, semi-profile).

Of course, the running animal looks more realistic, but an inexperienced artist cannot do that. It is necessary to learn the simplest drawing and gradually increase the complexity. First, the silhouette of the cat needs to be sketched using lines and circles (one circle for the head, another, slightly larger, for the body). To do this, it is better to have a photo or picture at hand and draw, referring to the image.

The first sketches should be done with a simple pencil, and then, if desired, you can color the drawing with colored pencils, felt-tip pens, paints. It is imperative to take into account the peculiarities of the proportions of the cat's body and observe symmetry.

It is convenient to take the head of a cat as a unit of measurement. It is also important to remember that, depending on the angle and characteristics of the breed and the appearance of the animal, the proportions may vary.

Ratio:

  • The length of the body of the cat is approximately equal to 4 heads, and the tail - 2 - 3 heads.
  • The length of the legs is approximately equal to one third of the length of the body, while the front legs should be shorter than the hind legs.
  • The head needs detailed drawing. It must be depicted in the form of a circle. In cats, the head is rounder and wider, while in cats it is smaller and sharpened towards the chin. For a roughly accurate location on the face of the eyes, nose and mouth, you can draw an auxiliary grid. First you need to draw a vertical line, then - 4 horizontal, equidistant from each other. They will indicate the position of the ears, eyes, nose and mouth. The additional 2 verticals will be the markings for the outer corners of the eyes.
  • The eyes themselves should be located approximately in the center of the muzzle. The nose is located midway from the center of the cat's face to the chin, and the mouth is halfway from the nose to the chin.
  • A kitten has a larger head size in relation to the body than an adult, fully formed cat. His eyes and ears are large, his nose and mouth are small, and his neck and paws are thick.

For aspiring artists, it is the head that is the biggest problem. In such a situation, to develop the technique, you can try to draw a cat's head from the front view yourself - it should be easier and, moreover, easier in symmetry.

Drawing a beautiful, thoroughbred cat

Learning to draw an ordinary cat is, of course, great and enjoyable. And how much more pleasant it will be if the cat in the picture is made beautiful, fluffy and thoroughbred! But this is already a higher level of skill, and it requires understanding and competent reflection of the external characteristics and characteristics of the breed.

One of the most striking characters for the picture can be a representative of the Himalayan blue breed. This cat has a unique coat color and if you draw it well, then everyone will really like this work!

How to draw a cat for a child

Children sometimes, no less than adults, want to draw a beautiful cat, but the methods described above can be difficult for children's perception. Here, parents need to come to the rescue and satisfy the child's creative impulse, somewhat simplifying the process.

To do this, it is better to start drawing with the child and show him the procedure by example. The resulting drawing can be colored, because children are delighted with bright and colorful pictures!

As a parting word, it is worth advising not to be afraid to express yourself in creativity - it exists for that. A little imagination, patience and perseverance - and soon you can draw a big hunting cat tracking a mouse, and a small kitten basking in the sun.

Cats rule the Internet! No doubt one day they will finally take control of the world in general and humanity in particular. Drawing cats, you can understand what they are really made of. And you need to know the enemy by sight. But seriously, in this lesson we will get acquainted with the anatomical structure of cats and learn how to correctly depict them in illustrations.

Final result

1. The structure of the cat's skeleton

Step 1

Studying skeletal structure is the first step to drawing a believable pose. Everything else rests on the bones, and it is they who first of all determine the range of possible movement of the body.

Step 2

Fortunately, we don't need to memorize the shape of each bone. It is enough to remember their length and the places in which they connect to each other. The good news is that most quadrupeds have similar skeletal structures. Only the length of the bones and the distance between them differ. Learn this material now so you don't have to go back to basics like this.

You need to remember the structure of the skeleton as a group of ovals (joints, skull, chest, hips) and lines (bones, spine). Once you remember this, you can draw any cat pose.

Step 3

There is one more thing to remember: each joint has its own range of motion. If you violate these restrictions, your cat will look broken. To understand this range, take a close look at the animated picture below. When running, the cat uses its joints to full range. As you can see, all movements look natural.

Points to note:

  1. The start of the jump. Hind legs push off the ground.
  2. When the hind legs move backward, the front legs move forward.
  3. When the legs push off the ground, the part of the body to which they are attached remains at their original height. The second part of the body can rush upward.
  4. Note that the paw bones never line up in a straight line. Even when stretched to the maximum.
  5. The moment of flight. Not a single pair of paws is on the ground. The body is stretched as much as possible.
  6. Front feet in maximum readiness for landing.
  7. The front legs are now fully extended. Again, they do not extend to a straight line.
  8. Note the difference in height again.
  9. Landing is complete. The hind legs now tend to land at the same point.
  10. Pay attention to this point; she cannot move apart from the chest.
  11. The movement of the tail is determined by the position of the hip joint.
  12. When all feet are on the ground, the front and back of the body are level.

Step 4

You may say, “I don’t need this. I feel the correct posture. "Perhaps, but there are a few mistakes that most people make due to the usual carelessness.

This is a popular way to depict a skeleton. The error occurs due to the fact that we confuse the structure of the front and hind legs. It is different! Just compare your arms and legs.

The next pose is not natural, but it is used quite often in animation, when the characters move their paws like propellers. In the real world, the hind legs are unable to perform more than 120 degrees of motion (even in cheetahs). Also, a real kitty will strive to keep its head on the same level, and not lower it down (unless, of course, this is a zombie kitty - there are also such in cartoons).

What an interesting skeletal structure! In this case, the bones are just sticking out of the thigh. The problem is that there are not only bones, but also to a large extent muscles. And this moment cannot be ignored. Also in the first pose, we see tucked in front legs and sitting hind legs. Small cats eat in this position, but their breasts are not on the ground.

Another common mistake lurks in habits. During normal walking, cats first transfer two legs of one side, and then two legs of the other side. This mistake will go unnoticed by most people, but nevertheless it will not cease to be a mistake! True, during acceleration, cats switch to "diagonal" movement of their paws.

Step 5

You have learned all about poses. Time to sketch your own drawing.

The structure of the feline muscular skeleton

Step 1

Muscles give the body its shape. You can draw a body without understanding the structure of the muscular skeleton, but guessing is not our way. The learning process may seem complicated at first glance, but later you will see that in reality everything is much simpler.

First, add some simplified muscle shapes to your sketch. Pretty simple! If your cat is very fluffy, you won't need more. The muscles will still not be visible.

Step 2

This is what our cat looks like after it has acquired a basic set of muscles.

Step 3

If you want to draw a smooth-haired cat, you have to do more. Below you can see the outlines of the largest muscles that can be seen. In order not to stress too much, just use this picture as a reference and paint over it. After a few exercises, the structure will be remembered by itself.

Step 4

Now our cat has muscle relief!

Step 5

Finally, one more thing. Cats have places where the skin hangs loosely, without hugging the muscles. If you have a cat, touch the area between the thigh and the lower leg - you will only feel the skin and fur! Due to this feature of the skin, the thigh and lower leg are difficult to distinguish while the cat is sitting.

Step 6

Draw these additional areas of skin in your sketch.

3. How to draw cat paws

Step 1

A cat's hind and front legs are different from each other, just as our hands are different from the legs. You can use them to visualize the structure. Cats walk on tiptoe, using only a part of their "palms" for support. They also have a “thumb” (in the form of a drop) and a small appendage (pea-shaped), but only on the front legs. The hind legs are generally very similar to our legs.

Step 2

The cat's paws are completely amazing. Their claws are "retractable", but they do not work exactly as we usually imagine. The claw is attached to the last bone of the toe. However, not to the extreme part of it, but closer to the base. Only when the claw is fully extended does the joint move closer to the edge.

What does this mean for us? The claw, along with the small bone to which it is attached, is found on the outside of each toe. The claw is not symmetrical on the finger! Look at the photos of Sphynx cats - they have no hair and the structure of the claws is seen better.

Step 3

Below you see an image of the left and right front paws with folded nails. Try repeating this position with your hands to see where the forearm ends and the foot begins.

Step 4

Let's learn how to draw paws.

  • For the frontal view, draw four lines ending in a rock-like shape.
  • For a side view, draw four lines starting at an oval and ending in steps. The step in the middle should be chamfered to the side.

Step 5

  • For the frontal view, draw four "eggs" at the end of each line in place of the stone shape.
  • For a side view, draw four "eggs" that will cover the last fold of the "steps". Then connect the eggs with lines.

Step 6

We will also need to add a bean shape (on the outside) for the hind legs, or an elongated shape (on the inside) for the front legs.

Step 7

Now we will cover the entire foot with fur. Above the claws, the wool grows in a special way: we cover it with fur only on top and on the sides.

Step 8

Good. We figured out the foot with folded claws. But what about the angry cat that released its claws? It's simple if you have mastered the anatomical part.

Step 9

Now our cat has legs.

4. The proportions of the cat's head

Depending on the breed, cat faces differ from each other. But there are rules by which you can draw a "typical" cat face.

Step 1

Draw two circles, one large and one smaller. These are simplified head and muzzle shapes.

Step 2

Divide the small circle into six roughly equal parts.

Step 3

Divide the middle line into about six equal parts. This will help us find the correct position for the nose and mouth.

Step 4

Draw a regular triangle between the lines as shown below. You can also start drawing the mouth.

Step 5

Draw the rest of the muzzle using the lines as guidelines.

Step 6

Now let's define the location for the eyes. Add four construction lines using the existing ones.

Step 7

Now you just need to add eyes.

Step 8

If you are drawing a kitten, you need to change the proportions a little and draw more rounded, larger eyes.

Step 9

Add lines for the shapes of the ears and cheeks.

Step 10

Drawing a head in profile is no more difficult if you know how to position the auxiliary lines.

Step 11

Now we know how to draw the shape for the head. But this is still just a sketch. In the next steps, we'll take a look at each element individually.

5. How to draw cat eyes

Step 1

If you went through the previous steps, you should have this oval as a base for the eye.

Step 2

We have three elements around the eye itself: the edge of the lower eyelid, the upper lash line, and a dark area in the inner corner of the eye. Part of the third century can also be shown.

Step 3

We draw the pupil:

  • Small representatives of the cat family have an elongated pupil. It becomes round only in the dark.
  • In large representatives of this family, the pupil always remains round, only changing its size.

Pupil size can play a role in making the illustration look realistic. If you paint a large round pupil sitting on a sunny beach or in front of a fire, it will look unnatural.

Step 4

Add dark streaks around the pupil and lighter streaks in the rest of the eye. Place them in the direction from the pupil to the outside of the eye.

Step 5

The eye is not only made up of the pupil and the apple. When you draw a human face, you draw out the eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows to make it appear more complete. For the cat's eye, we can add light areas around the eye and a dark hollow above it - this is a depression from which several vibrissae grow.

Step 6

When the eyes are closed, the incision turns into a dark streak. Light areas get closer together.

Step 7

Step 8

You already know what your eyes should look like. You can draw them on the face.

6. Draw the cat's nose

Step 1

Let's start with an elongated shape in the shape of a crystal. Its lower part is usually darker.

Step 2

Draw two "wings" for the nostrils.

Step 3

Draw the nostrils. They don't look like human nostrils, so be careful.

Step 4

Draw the bridge of the nose. It should be rounded at the top. Also on the sides the bridge of the nose will be darker, and the hair on it will be shorter.

Step 5

Now our cat has a nose!

7. How to draw cat ears

Step 1

Cat ears are not as simple as they seem. These are not just triangles, but complex structures that need to be learned to make the drawing seem more realistic.

Step 2

To draw the ear from the front view, draw a circle. Then divide it into four parts by drawing lines at a slight angle.

Step 3

Use construction lines to draw the outer contour of the ear.

Step 4

Cats have a strange crease at the bottom of the ear. It's called the tragus. It is quite difficult to draw her from this angle, but it is necessary. Draw a tragus and people will consider you a feline expert! :)

Step 5

Now we can draw tufts of hair. Their length and volume depends on the breed, but in general it is better to "fasten" the hair to the inside of the shell, leaving the outside bare.

Step 6

But cats can move their ears! What about all the other provisions? You can use the same method to create ears in any position. The main thing to remember is that the ear is actually much larger than it seems! The bottom is usually covered by the fur (and you will have to draw that too). Look at this photo and you will understand which part of the ear we see and which is hidden.

Step 7

Now our cat has ears!

8. Draw a mustache for a cat

Step 1

Vibrissae, or whiskers, are another sensory organ for a cat. Vibrissae grow above the cat's upper lip, above the eyes, above the chin, and behind the paws. These “hairs” grow from dark “grooves” in the cat's fur. We have already drawn such hollows above the eyes. Now draw smaller ones on the face.

Step 2

Cats have 12 whiskers on each side, but you do not need to strictly observe this number. 13 on the left, 15 on the right - it's okay! The main thing is to paint them thin and light. Also, their length should be more than half the length of the head.

9. Draw wool

Step 1

The length of the coat determines the shape of the head. The head of a cat without hair is triangular in shape. The more hair, the smoother the head shape. Draw a medium-length coat for the cat and the head will become round (by the way, this is why the kittens seem nicer to us). If your cat is long-haired, then the shape of its head becomes trapezoidal.

Step 2

Also, the shape of the body depends on the length of the coat. A short coat will accentuate the thin body of a cat, while a long coat will make it bigger. If you are just learning to paint, it always starts with short hair. Then experiment with the length as you wish.

Along with dogs, cats are among the most popular pets. Even a two-year-old knows what a cat looks like and will probably want to draw it.

This will be very easy with simple step-by-step instructions. Any aspiring artist can handle some of them.

You can draw a picture with your child in a realistic or cartoon style.

It all depends on your imagination and your kid's ability to draw. Start with simple lessons and then work your way up to harder ones.

For drawing, it is better to use a simple pencil, so that later you can erase unnecessary auxiliary lines. This will make your drawing neat.

If you want to create a girl cat, draw long eyelashes for her. They will make your eyes look more open.

  • The kitten's head is ready, it remains to slightly modify the body. Draw fingers on each of the paws, erasing all the extra lines. Note that the toes on the left foot overlap slightly. You can draw claws on each of the fingers.
  • We complete the picture by erasing unnecessary lines and more carefully drawing the details. We paint the kitten with colored pencils, felt-tip pens or paints.

Sitting cat in profile

  • Draw the line of the ear and the front of the head as shown in the picture.
  • We depict a smooth curved line of the back of the head.
  • Sketch the cat's back using two curved lines of different lengths. The small one will be the cat's neck, and the big one will be the back. The line ends where the tail begins.

  • We draw the lower part of the animal's face, with a curved line we denote the chest. Draw an arc - it will become the cat's hind paw.
  • We complete the contour of the front and hind legs.
  • Add a ponytail, draw a triangular eye and a second ear peeking out from behind the first.
  • Apply shadow with a simple pencil as shown in the picture. Overlaying shadows will give your painting a more realistic look.

Realistic cat

  • We mark the contour of the animal's body. Draw a circle for the head and divide it in half with a line. Draw a circle with a larger diameter a little lower and a little to the left. Draw a curved line to it as shown in the figure.
  • We draw the outline of the cat's face and paint on the triangular ears to the head. Add two small ovals at the bottom of the head, connect them at the bottom with a curved line. This will define the cat's nose and mouth.
  • In the lower part of the body, draw two small ovals (front legs) and a long rectangle (tail).
  • We draw the details of the face: we make almond-shaped eyes, draw the nose and muzzle. With the help of small strokes, we make the cat fluffy. Add eyebrows and mustache using longer strokes.
  • We draw the cat's front legs, her tail and claws. Remember to add small strokes to help your cat get fluffy.
  • With the help of strokes of various lengths, we complete the picture. We erase unnecessary details and paint the cat.

  • We sketch the figure of the cat: draw a small circle and a large oval crossing it. They will become the head and body of the animal.
  • We outline the main details of the face: the circle of the muzzle and the triangles of the ears. To make it easier to maintain proportions, we divide the circles in half with several lines.
  • With the help of several circles and ovals, outline the cat's thighs, tail and paws.
  • On the face, draw two circles for the eyes and a triangle for the face.
  • The sketch is almost ready, let's start detailing it. With the help of strokes we make fluffy cat fur, erase extra lines and add color. We color the cat the way you like.

Standing cat in profile

  • We draw a circle for the head of the animal, a rectangle for the body. Place an oval inside the rectangle that goes beyond its borders. It will help us outline the cat's thighs. Draw an arc to the part of the rectangle that is closer to the head.
  • We add the main features of the face to the head of the animal: ears and a muzzle. We paint on a triangular eye and nose.
  • Using ovals of different sizes, create a sketch of the front, hind legs and thighs of the cat. Draw a curved line at the back to represent the tail.
  • We connect all these lines together and apply strokes to create an imitation of fluffy cat fur.
  • Erase the extra lines and add additional details. Our cat can be striped or spotted. Using colored pencils, felt-tip pens or wax crayons, add brightness and color to the drawing.

We've got a graceful and beautiful kitty!

Parents face a child's request to draw a cat regardless of his age. Crumbs want to get a coloring in the form of a wise Puss in Boots, a red-headed mischief from Shrek or another character from their favorite cartoon, and older children ask for help in completing school assignments.

Instructions on how to draw cats step by step will help novice artists create their first masterpieces. It is better to start with simple images, and only then move on to more complex ones.

Kids will love these funny cats. Quick, contoured sketches will keep your child entertained in line or while traveling. In addition, believability, color brightness or shadow depth in this case does not matter. We offer some simple examples of how to draw a cat:

Option 1:

In order to depict such a funny animal from geometric shapes, you will need a sheet of paper, a pencil or pen, an eraser and just a couple of minutes of time.

First, you need to draw a trapezoid and conventionally mark the middle (stages 1 and 2). Then the ears and paws are drawn (stages 3 and 4), the excess is erased with an eraser. In the fifth stage, the pupils, nose, mouth and long mustache are made. Claws are drawn on the paws. The cat is ready. It remains only to color it.

Option 2:

The technique for drawing such a cartoon cat is also quite simple. First, the main zones are marked: head, torso, legs and tail. Then the details are drawn: ears, muzzle, claws, hair on the tail. During the final stage, all unnecessary lines are erased, and the clarity of the picture is added.

How to draw a cat using pencil technique

Pencil graphics are loved by many artists for the absence of unnecessary details, for their clarity and simplicity. To some, it seems easier than drawing with paints or crayons. Skillful possession of the technique allows you to create wonderful, "living" work. This skill does not come immediately, but only after long training, sketches, trial and error.

Scientists have proven that drawing is useful for the psycho-emotional sphere of both adults and children. This process relaxes, helps to distract, give a respite to the nervous system. Children develop motor skills, perseverance, the ability to concentrate, navigate in space.

Not everyone will succeed in the initial stages, however, over time, an understanding will come of how to hold a hand correctly, control pressure, feel the scale and proportions within the sheet. After six months of regular classes, it will be possible to open the first home exhibition, and thanks to the detailed step-by-step instructions on how to draw cats and cats, it will be much easier to cope with such a task.

First, let's try something very simple. We offer a master class on drawing a kitten:

  • Even from school drawing lessons, everyone remembers that the body of a cat consists of simple geometric shapes. The body is oval, the head resembles a flattened circle, the ears are like triangles with rounded corners, and the tail and legs are like elongated ovals. We place them on the sheet as shown in the first picture. There is no need to make large distances between body parts. Otherwise, the proportions will be violated and it will be difficult to make a complete picture.
  • We smoothly connect the drawn shapes (stage 2).
  • We draw a muzzle and mark it out. First, the head is conventionally divided in half. The entire upper part is the cat's forehead. The lower part is divided into three more lobes. In the middle part, the nose and mouth are drawn. The eyes should be positioned so that they conditionally form a triangle with the lower border of the nose (step 3).

  • Gradually we replace the contour with small thick hairs, drawing short lines and making the cat fluffy, and then completely shading the body. If you want to draw a cat with a white breast, then the corresponding area remains unshaded (step 4). When drawing wool, it must be remembered that the hairs should be located in different directions.
  • To make the drawing seem voluminous, it is necessary to highlight the paws, torso and head with bold arcuate strokes. The drawing direction is from the edges to the middle. Shadows should be drawn over the nose, eyebrows and on the paws. Add a mustache, a few lines on the ears, paws and tail (step 5). The cat is ready!

How to draw a portrait of a domestic cat

Using the example of a Cornish Rex sketch, you can try to draw a realistic portrait of your pet. At first glance, it seems completely incomprehensible how to draw such a super cat. However, you don't have to be a professional artist to do this. Even those who have recently started to hold a pencil in their hands can do this. Drawing includes only 5 stages.

What is useful for a portrait:

  • Black pen
  • Soft pencil (B2)
  • Hard pencil

Stage 1:

We mark out the face and make the outline of the head and neck. We draw a vertical line that will serve as a reference point for the center of the muzzle and two horizontal lines of the same length, between which there will be eyes.

Important! The cat sits sideways and looks at an angle, so the lines should not be parallel to the edge of the sheet, and the left eye should be smaller in size than the right.

Stage 2:

We darken the eyes with a black pen or pencil, leaving room for glare.

Stage 3:

Draw hairs on the ears and above the right eye, applying strokes from the center of the muzzle. The density of the shading should be uneven and of different density.

Stage 4:

With a B2 pencil, draw the eyes in more detail. In this case, the shadow of the pupils should be darker, and the darkest place should be in the area located above the pupils. Darken the coat a little to get a smooth flow of color. Draw the mouth, nose, ears and darken the least light areas.

Step 5:

We polish the drawing, adding shadows where necessary. Draw the nose, paying attention to the shape of the nose of the animal. Draw a thin, light mustache with a hard pencil.

The portrait is ready!

More video about how to draw kitties and cats:

Everyone loves animals, especially cute fluffy cats. We often see these mustachioed pussies as one of the most popular heroes of fairy tales and cartoons. Cats are popular not only among children, but also among adults, as evidenced by funny videos on YouTube and pictures of cats on social networks. Cats are also considered a symbol of grace and femininity. We can talk about cats for a long time, but we will show you several ways to draw a cat.
This article will have three sections with different difficulty levels: intermediate, difficult and for children.

What you need:

  • A4 or A5 sheet
  • Pencils with hardness 2H and B or 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B
  • Eraser

Average level of difficulty

Let's try to start by drawing a cat.

Take a pencil with a hardness of H and draw semicircles and lines exactly as in the picture.

The first, top circle is the head. Draw there a "construction" for the nose, mark the place where the ears should be and draw a line for the back.

Draw the lower part (outlines of the bend of the legs), as in the picture.

We continue to draw the ears and muzzle, the lower part of the legs and the approximate location of the tail.

We finish drawing the ears, tail and legs.

And now, in the place where the curved line was drawn on the muzzle, above the nose, draw narrowed eyes. It is quite easy to do it, just like in the picture. Wipe away unnecessary details, draw a nose, under it the smooth lines of a closed mouth and antennae. The drawing is ready!

Considering how to draw a cat in stages, we suggest the following method. Here you will need a soft pencil (from B to 6B).

First, draw an oval, it can have a rough, more square shape, as in the picture. And we divide it with a light vertical line into equal parts.

Next, draw two oblique stripes on top of this oval - this will be the place for the ears. Below we draw a line to know at what level to draw the eyes and draw a torso (preferably the same shape as in the picture).

Now we draw the ears of the cat, draw two lines from the nose to the eyes, draw the mouth in the form of an inverted number 3 or just in the form of a semicircle. We mark the legs.

Draw the eyes-circles and the approximate shape of the tail.

And, finally, we finish drawing the legs, shade the eyes, draw the rest of the details of the face, do not forget about the mustache. And with short strokes sketch out the shape of the cat to give the impression of fluffiness. Ready!

Difficult level

Now we want to show a more complex technique for how to draw a kitten. This is not only for those who are making great strides in drawing, it is just as important for those who want to try their hand and be proud of the result! Here is our cat.

So, let's start with the fact that you need to draw the approximate outlines and pose of the kitten. To do this, use a pencil with a hardness of 2H or H. Try to follow the example of the picture.

Now draw two parallel lines on the cat's face, so that later on, draw his eyes evenly. Mark out the approximate outline of the eyes, draw stripes that go from the eyes to the nose, draw the mouth (such as in the example), the place for the antennae (the inverted number 8 above the mouth), mark the ears more precisely.

The next step is to draw the pupils in the eyes, make the nose more detailed, draw the teeth and tongue inside the mouth, do not forget to draw the paws.

We draw a cat with a pencil - and this is one of the best ways to convey the details of the fur. On the face, with short strokes we mark the areas of dark coat color.

Now we shade out the darkest elements of the cat's face with a pencil with a hardness from B to 6B: pupils (do not forget to leave highlights in them, so they will seem more realistic), eye contour, nose, mustache dots, mouth.

All dark areas of the fur on the muzzle are now shaded with the same pencil.

Continuing to paint dark areas of the fur all over the body, don't forget about the shadow under the paws.

Having finished with the dark stripes on the wool, work through the light areas with an H or 2H pencil. Shading. After you've finished shading the fur, don't forget to draw a mustache for the cat. It is desirable to do this already with a well-sharpened pencil with a hardness from B to 6B. You can add small "tassels" on the ears, but don't overdo it. The cat is ready!

How to draw a cat for kids

It is worth learning to draw from childhood, because it is important not only for gaining a certain skill, but also develops the color taste of the child, calms his nervous system. Therefore, if your child asks you: "How to draw a cat?" You can contact us and we will show you some easy ways! Let's start with the first one.

Take any pencil and draw a circle and an oval like in the picture.

Draw the legs.

Now draw the ears, tail and add a check mark above the paws so that the cat has a fluffy neck in the end.

Draw the eyes with dots, the nose - a triangle, the mouth - an inverted number 3. Draw a mustache, a little more fur on the neck. We remove the extra lines on the legs, draw the fingers. The cat is ready!

Consider another option, how we draw a cat in stages for children.

We will draw the cat in front and back. Draw ovals on top of each other (try to follow the example in the picture).

We draw short legs, ears and a tail. Note: the second one, sitting with his back, does not see the upper legs, as if he is leaning on them, but you can finish them yourself.

Now we draw the eyes, like two commas, the nose is a triangle, the mouth is an inverted number 3 with a tongue. Do not forget about the antennae and stripes, our cat is striped. 🙂

And one more option for you:

We draw a circle and an oval. A curved line connects them. The second line, which is larger, is the "skeleton" of the tail. Draw two parallel lines on the face in order to draw the eyes evenly.

Draw the ears and hair on the sides of the head.

Draw two inverted check marks in the ears, draw eyebrows and eyes. On the sides of the small line connecting the torso to the head, draw two more curved lines to make our neck thicker.

We finish drawing the muzzle, remove the extra lines on the sides of the head. Draw fur on the breast, and legs below.

We finish drawing the hind and front legs, turn the line into a tail.

We remove the extra lines on the legs, draw stripes for the cat, paint over them and the eyes. (You can paint over the cat to your taste, but it is advisable to do this with a neat stroke). We draw the antennae. Ready! Learn to draw a cat together!
