SUMMING UP

The poem "Vasily Terkin" is evidence of history. The writer himself was a war correspondent, military life was close to him. The work shows the clarity of what is happening, figurativeness, accuracy, which makes us truly believe the poem.
The protagonist of the work, Vasily Terkin, is a simple Russian soldier. His very name speaks of the generality of his image. He was close to the soldiers, he was one of them. Many even, reading the poem, said that they had the real Terkin in their company, that he was fighting with them. The image of Terkin also has folk, folklore roots. In one of the chapters, Tvardovsky compares him with a soldier from the famous fairy tale "Porridge from an ax." The author presents Terkin as a resourceful soldier who knows how to find a way out of any situation, to show intelligence and ingenuity. In other chapters, the hero appears to us as a mighty hero from ancient epics, strong and fearless.
What can be said about the qualities of Terkin? All of them are certainly worthy of respect. It is easy to say about Vasily Terkin: “he does not sink in water and does not burn in fire,” and this will be pure truth. The hero shows such qualities as courage, courage, courage, and the proof of this is such chapters as "Crossing" and "Death and the Warrior". He never loses heart, he jokes (for example, in the chapters "Terkin-Terkin", "In the bathhouse"). He shows his love for life in Death and the Warrior. He is not given into the hands of death, resists it and survives. And, of course, in Terkin there are such qualities as great patriotism, humanism and a sense of military duty.
Vasily Terkin was very close to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War, he reminded them of themselves. Terkin inspired the soldiers to exploits, helped them during the war years, and maybe even, to some extent, the war was won thanks to him.

- a soldier (then an officer) from the Smolensk peasants: "... the guy himself He is ordinary."
Terkin embodies the best features of the Russian soldier and the Russian people. Terkin has been fighting since the very beginning of the war, he was surrounded three times, was wounded. Terkin's motto: "Cheer up", no matter what the difficulties. So, the hero, in order to restore contact with the soldiers on the other side of the river, crosses it twice in icy water. Or, in order to hold a telephone line during the battle, Terkin alone occupies a German dugout, in which he comes under fire. Once Terkin enters into hand-to-hand combat with a German and, with great difficulty, but still takes the enemy prisoner. The hero perceives all these feats as ordinary actions in the war. He does not brag about them, does not demand a reward for them. And only jokingly says that for representativeness he simply needs a medal. Even in the harsh conditions of the war, Terkin retains all human qualities. The hero has a great sense of humor, which helps T. himself and everyone around him to survive. So, he jokes encourages fighters leading a difficult battle. Terkin is presented with the accordion of a murdered commander, and he plays it, brightening up the soldiers' moments of rest. On the way to the front, the hero helps the old peasants with their household chores, convincing them of an imminent victory. Having met a peasant woman stolen into captivity, T. gives her all the trophies. Terkin does not have a girl who would write letters to him and wait from the war. But he does not lose heart, fighting for all Russian girls. Over time, Terkin becomes an officer. He vacates his native places and, looking at them, cries. Terkin's name becomes a household name. In the chapter "In the bath" a soldier with a huge number of awards is compared with the hero of the poem. Describing his hero, the author in the chapter "From the Author" calls Terkin "a holy and sinful Russian miracle man."

Terkin from a rifle unexpectedly shoots down a German attack aircraft; Sergeant T., who is envious of him, reassures him: “Don’t worry, the German has this / Not the last plane.” In the chapter "General" T. is summoned to the general, who awards him with an order and a week's leave, but it turns out that the hero cannot use him, since his native village is still occupied by the Germans. In the chapter “Fight in the swamp”, T. jokes with the fighters who are fighting a hard fight for a place called “the settlement of Borki”, from which “one black place” remains. In the chapter "On Love" it turns out that the hero does not have a girl who would accompany him to the war and write him letters to the front; the author jokingly calls: "Pay a gentle look, / Girls, to the infantry." In the chapter "Terkin's Rest", normal living conditions are presented to the hero as "paradise"; unaccustomed to sleeping in bed, he cannot sleep until he is advised to put a hat on his head to mimic field conditions. In the chapter "On the offensive" T., when the platoon commander is killed, takes command and breaks into the village first; however, the hero is again seriously wounded. In the chapter “Death and the Warrior”, T., lying wounded in a field, talks with Death, who persuades him not to cling to life; he is eventually discovered by members of the funeral crew. The chapter “Terkin writes” is a letter from T. from the hospital to fellow soldiers: he promises to return to them without fail. In the chapter "Terkin - Terkin" the hero meets a namesake - Ivan Terkin; they argue which of them is the "true" Terkin (this name has already become legendary), but they cannot determine, because they are very similar to each other. The dispute is resolved by the foreman, who explains that "According to the charter, each company / Terkin will be given his own." Further, in the chapter "From the author", the process of "mythologization" of the character is depicted; T. is called "the holy and sinful Russian miracle man." The chapter "Grandfather and Woman" again deals with the old peasants from the chapter "Two Soldiers"; having spent two years in occupation, they await the advance of the Red Army; in one of the scouts, the old man recognizes T., who became an officer. In the chapter "On the Dnieper" it is said that T., together with the advancing army, is getting closer to his native places; troops cross the Dnieper, and, looking at the liberated land, the hero cries. In the chapter "On the Road to Berlin" T. meets a peasant woman who was once driven away to Germany - she returns home on foot; together with the soldiers, T. gives her trophies: a horse with a team, a cow, a sheep, household utensils and a bicycle. In the chapter “In the bathhouse” of a soldier, on whose tunic “Orders, medals in a row / Burn with a hot flame”, admiring fighters are compared with T. : the name of the hero has already become a household name.

VASILY TERKIN - This is a realistic image of a great generalizing force, an “ordinary” hero, according to Tvardovsky, born in a special, unique atmosphere of the war years; an image-type of a Soviet soldier who organically entered the soldier's environment, close to his collective prototype in biography, way of thinking, actions and language. According to V. T, “having lost his heroic physique”, “gained a heroic soul”. This is an amazingly true understanding of the Russian national character, taken in its best features. Behind the illusion of rusticity, jokes, mischief, there is a moral sensitivity and an inherent sense of filial duty to the Motherland, the ability to accomplish a feat at any moment without phrase and pose. Behind experience and love of life - a dramatic duel with the death of a person who finds himself in a war. Developed as the poem was written and simultaneously published, the image of V. T. acquired the scale of the hero of an epic work about the fate of the Soviet soldier and his homeland. The generalized type of the Soviet warrior was identified with the image of the entire warring people, concretized in the living, psychologically rich character of V. T, in which each front-line soldier recognized himself and his comrade. V. T. became a household name, joining the same ranks with such heroes as Til de Costera and Cola Rollana.

After the end of the war and the publication of the first poem about V. T., readers asked Tvardovsky to write a sequel about the life of V. T. in peacetime. Tvardovsky himself considered V. T. to belong to wartime. However, the author needed his image when writing a satirical poem about the essence of the bureaucratic world of the totalitarian system, which was called "Terkin in the next world." Personifying the viability of the Russian national character, V. T. demonstrates that “the most terrible thing for the state of the dead is a living person” (S. Lesnevsky).

After the publication of the second poem, Tvardovsky was accused of betraying his hero, who became "submissive" and "sluggish." in the second poem he continues his dispute with death, begun in the first, but according to the laws of the genre in fairy tales about a journey to the underworld, the hero is not required to actively fight, which is impossible among the dead, but the ability to go through trials and endure them. The positive beginning in satire is laughter, not the hero. Tvardovsky follows the traditions of the works of Gogol, Saltykov-Shchedrin, Dostoevsky ("Bobok"), Blok ("Dance of Death").

With triumphant success, he embodied on the stage of the Moscow Theater of Satire (director V. Pluchek).

The reader asked Tvardovsky to continue V. T. “Our Vasily,” Tvardovsky reports, “arrived in the next world, and left in this one.” The poem ends with a hint-appeal to the reader: "I have given you a task." Both V.T. and Tvardovsky remained true to themselves - the battle "for the sake of life on earth" continues.

They look into the mouth of the joker,
The word is eagerly caught.
It's good when someone is lying
Fun and challenging.
Just a guy himself
He is ordinary.
Not tall, not that small
But a hero is a hero.

I am a big hunter to live
Years to ninety.

And, at the shores of the crust
Breaking the ice
He is like him, Vasily Terkin,
I got up alive - I got by swimming.
And with a careless smile
Then the fighter says:
- Is it possible to have a pile,
Because well done?

No guys, I'm not proud.
Without thinking into the distance
So I will say: why do I need an order?
I agree to a medal.

Terkin, Terkin, good fellow...

Name symbolism. The real, non-feuilleton Terkin, the hero of The Book of a Fighter, appeared in the first two chapters of Tvardovsky's book in September 1942. The front-line "biography" of Terkin is as follows: he begins to fight during the Finnish campaign, re-enters service in June 1941, retreats with the entire army, is surrounded several times, then goes on the offensive and ends his journey in the depths of Germany.

Vasily Terkin is a multifaceted image. He is a symbolic image, a man-people, a collective Russian type. It is no coincidence that nothing is said about his personal biography: they are, as it were, average. He is "a great hunter to live up to ninety years", a peaceful, civil man, a soldier by necessity. His usual life on the collective farm was interrupted by the war. War for him is a natural disaster, hot work. The whole poem is permeated with the dream of a peaceful life.

Already at the first mention, the surname Terkin clearly outlines the boundaries of character: Terkin means an experienced, grated person, "grated kalach", or, as the poem says, "a grated person". Compare, for example, with the Russian proverb: "Patience and work will grind everything," etc. This is the core of the name, the core of the image varies many times, is played out in the poem:

From the first days of the bitter year, The world heard through a formidable thunder, Vasily Terkin repeated: - We will endure. Let's grind... Terkin - who is he? Let's be honest: It's just a guy by himself. He's ordinary.

The image of Terkin is a generalized image, for all its realism and ordinariness. Tvardovsky endows his hero with a "general Russian" appearance, avoids portrait signs (this would make him overly individualized): "He was endowed with beauty / He was not excellent. / Not tall, not that small, / But a hero-hero." Terkin is a bright, unique personality, and at the same time he includes the features of many people, he seems to be repeated many times in others 1 . See, for example, the chapter "Terkin - Terkin": it turns out that there are two Terkins in the book. This is the hero of the book Vasily Ivanovich and his namesake Ivan. Duality emphasizes the generalizing nature of the protagonist. But their duality is not absolute: the second Terkin turns out to be red-haired, does not smoke, and his front-line profession is an armor-piercer. The situation is resolved by a "strict foreman":

What do you not understand here, do not understand among themselves? According to the charter, each company will be given its own Terkin.

Tvardovsky selects the most general, typical episodes of the war, rarely uses specific geographical names and exact chronological designations (the place and time of his book is a field, forest, river, swamp, village, road, winter, spring, summer, autumn). The same applies to Terkin's military profession: in different situations, he turns out to be either a signalman, or a shooter, or a scout. It is important that Terkin belongs to the most massive branch of the military - the infantry. The hero is an infantryman. "In it - the pathos of the infantry, the troops closest to the earth, to the cold, to fire and death," Tvardovsky wrote at the very beginning of his plan. Terkin is one of the laborers of the war, on whom the country rests, who bore the brunt of the war on their shoulders. The hero of Tvardovsky's poem is the hero of a specific war with the Germans, and at the same time there is something in him that brings him closer to the Russian soldier of all times. Tvardovsky himself always liked this idea about the deep national roots of his hero, and there are lines in the handwritten versions of the poem:

And in his overcoat with mint, Thinner, bearded Just right, he looks like a Russian soldier of all campaigns and times. 2

Tvardovsky paints the life of the war as a whole, but the overall picture of the war is made up of individual, very vivid and accurate details of the war. The concreteness and tangibility of the pictures drawn by Tvardovsky are greatly enhanced by the numerous and precise details of front-line life: in the parking lot, “water with ice rattled from a bucket into a smoky tank”; the telephone operator "blew into the receiver for order"; soldiers write letters "on a halt, by fire, on each other's backs, removing gloves with their teeth, in the wind in any frost," etc. The pictures of the war in the poem are always dynamic, alive, visually perceptible.

The system of rhymes used in relation to the name and surname of the hero also contributes to the achievement of generalization of the image of the protagonist. Tvardovsky uses rhymes that characterize the life of the army and the mood of the hero ("Terkin" - "bitter", "shag", "sayings", "in the tunic", "in the supply room", etc.). The most responsible in the poem is the rhyme "Vasily - Russia", repeated several times in the text, that is, it is emphasized that the hero is the embodiment of the heroism of the Russian people, representing all of Russia, all the people.

Works on military topics are often found in the culture and literature of all countries and nationalities without exception. And this is not surprising, it was the war that became an irrevocable frontier in the lives of many people, radically changing their lives. In most cases, such works are sad and set the reader on a certain tragedy. However, this does not apply to the work of A. Tvardovsky "Vasily Terkin".

Collectivity of the image of Vasily Terkin

Alexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky during the war years was a correspondent at the front, so he talked a lot with ordinary soldiers, and, accordingly, spent a lot of time on the battlefields. Such activities allowed Tvardovsky to notice the characteristic features of the soldiers, the peculiarities of their behavior, and also to learn about some of the unusual, heroic deeds of the defenders of the Motherland.

Soon, all these observations and materials were embodied in the image of Vasily Terkin, the central character of Tvardovsky's poem of the same name.

Biography of Vasily Terkin

Very little is known about Terkin's biographical data, his name is Vasily Ivanovich. His homeland is Smolensk region. This is where the information ends. Data on the appearance of the hero is also scarce - his appearance was not memorable: he was neither tall nor short, Terkin was neither handsome nor ugly.
Perhaps this is due to the author's desire to portray a typical soldier from a simple family. It is thanks to such insignificant data that the impression of the typical character of the hero is created - it can be adjusted to any biography of a person who actually took part in military events.

The symbolism of the surname

While it is difficult to talk about the symbolism of the name of the protagonist of the poem - most likely, it was taken from the category of the most common names, his surname is not without symbolism and subtext.

First of all, the symbolism of the name of Vasily is explained by his optimistic attitude towards the war and faith in the victory of the troops to which Vasily belongs.

Terkin constantly supports his colleagues, especially those who are at the front for the first time and perceive everything that happens with horror. He repeatedly says that everything will pass, it will fray. It is here that the main message is concluded, explaining his last name - life “rubs” Vasily all the time, but, despite all the troubles and difficulties, he does not lose optimism and zeal.

Terkin's military service

The bulk of the narrative is occupied by the description of various military situations and the role of Vasily Terkin in their resolution.

The Second World War is not the first war in Terkin’s life, before that he had already visited the fronts of the Finnish war, therefore Terkin does not perceive all the burdens, contradictions and difficulties of military life as something terrible and unusual, he is already familiar with the life of a military man.

Apparently, in the Finnish war, Terkin was a simple, ordinary soldier and was not promoted to an officer's rank. Terkin also begins the Second World War in the rank of private, however, thanks to his repeated exploits, he receives significant awards and an officer's rank.

Once Terkin managed to shoot down an enemy plane with a rifle. For this act, he was awarded the general order. However, this is not the only feat of Terkin - he also helps his troops cross the river. To do this, he swims across the river in winter, boldly and selflessly fights with opponents and was even wounded, but he is not going to lie down, and immediately after improving his condition, he again breaks to the front.

Personality characteristic

The first thing that catches the image of Terkin is his optimism. He is a cheerful person and tries not to lose heart even in the saddest moments of life. Even when it seems that there is no hope for a successful outcome, Terkin finds an opportunity to joke and support his comrades in this way.

Vasily is a kind and selfless person, he has a big heart and a generous soul. Terkin remembers all the good deeds towards him and tries to repay him with kindness in return. So, for example, he remembers how, after being wounded, he lost his hat, and the nurse gave him hers. Terkin carefully keeps this hat - it reminds him of human responsiveness and kindness. When his colleague loses his pouch, Terkin gives him his. Vasily believes that in a war you can lose anything - both material things and non-material things, up to your own life. The only thing that cannot be lost, according to Terkin, is the Motherland.

Vasily loves life very much, to such an extent that he is ready to risk his life for the sake of other people's lives. However, at the same time, he does not miss the opportunity to jokingly answer that he would like to live to be 90 years old.

Terkin is a man of honor, he believes that in war one should forget about personal interests and be guided by the concept of honor.

Terkin can play the accordion well. With his game, he knows how to cheer people up and make them sad.

In addition, Terkin knows a lot of funny stories and has a talent for telling them. Vasily always captivates his colleagues with his story, knows how to keep their attention on his story for a long time.

In order to dispel the melancholy of his comrades, Terkin funny knows how to distort the singing of the Germans. In a word, Terkin, who himself does not like to be sad and sad, knows many ways to cheer up soldiers and encourage them. That is why he is the favorite of all soldiers.

However, not only funny stories are in Terkin's arsenal. So, for example, he tells the story of a soldier who, having come to his village with the liberation army, found that his whole family had died and his house had been destroyed. Terkin says that one must remember such people and not forget about them at a time when the enemy army is defeated.
Terkin is a jack of all trades. He knows how to do any job. So, for example, while staying in one of the villages, Terkin repairs watches and a saw for old people.

Thus, the image of Vasily Terkin is a collective one. It is based on many memories of the soldiers of the Second World War and exposes the best characteristics of people.

Vasily is always ready to help others, he is an honest and disinterested person. Terkin in everything that happens, first of all, is ready to see something positive, this is due to his life-affirming attitude and faith in the restoration of justice and the victory of good.

Vasya Terkin is a real hero. I know that he was and still is loved by many. It can be mistaken for a real person, and not for a fictional character. He still evokes sympathy, even admiration.

Not only did he manage to shoot down a German plane, while Vasya was in the infantry, which he adores ... He twisted the German with his bare hands. Although the fight scene shows how difficult it all was. The German is fat, sleek, strong. And Vasya has grown thin, tired. Of course, he jokingly asks for supplements from a local chef. And in general he gets it, but the cook is not very pleased - there are probably few products. And he even makes a remark to Terkin: “Why don’t you go to the fleet, such a glutton.” But Terkin, which is his remarkable quality, is not offended. He laughs it off, it's hard to hurt him.

But he (such a merry fellow) is experiencing negativity. For example, when his small homeland is belittled. This is when in the hospital the young hero was offended that Terkin mistook him for a fellow countryman. Why is Smolensk land worse?! And for her sake, Terkin is ready to perform feats. Il when a colleague laments that he has lost his pouch, Terkin freaks out in the end. He said to the bewildered once with a smile, twice with a joke, but he still does not let up. But it is clear that this was the last straw for the one who lost. He even complains that he lost his family, home, and now that pouch. But Terkin generously gives his own, saying, they say, the main thing is not to lose the Motherland. And what is needed for this? Cheer up, first of all!

That is, Vasily is an optimist, he is generous and courageous. He respects civilians: children, old people... By the way, the authorities too. Here he was talking about the general - how smart he should be. But this experience is also because when the soldier was still in the cradle, the future general was already at war.

I remember the scene with the awarding of the order. When they called Terkin to that same general, and the soldier’s things were wet - only washed. And Vasya is in no hurry to see the general, although he was given “two minutes” time, because it is impossible in wet pants. He understands that there are certain boundaries that cannot be violated.

While I see some pluses in Vasya. Laziness is also not about him. He would not be able to sit out in the rear or in the hospital when the war ... The only thing that would give me a headache from him. There are way too many jokes.

But in the terrible time of the war it was necessary, I think.

Option 2

Vasily Terkin is a collective image of a Russian soldier. Where did he come from? Soldiers from all fronts wrote to Tvardovsky and told their stories. It was some of them that formed the basis of the exploits of Terkin. Therefore, it is so recognizable, so popular. Yes, in the next company there, Vanya or Petya did exactly the same as Terkin.

A cheerful, resilient joker who knows how to make everything with his own hands.

He served in the "queen of the fields" - mother infantry, which marched all the way to Berlin across Europe. Vasily managed to shoot down a German plane. And in a hand-to-hand fight, he defeated a healthy Fritz. And when the cook asks for supplements, but it is not provided - there is not enough food, he grumbles and sends him to the fleet. The naval at that time were fed better than the infantry.

Turkin is a collective character, and each soldier recognized familiar features in him. Each chapter is a separate story about the next feat of Vasily. Tvardovsky wrote the poem not after the war, but during the fighting, in the intervals between battles. He was a front correspondent.

Terkin was as alive. He communicated with the soldiers on an equal footing, gave good advice. The soldiers were looking forward to the release of each new chapter in the front-line newspaper. Terkin was a friend and comrade for everyone. He was one of them. If Terkin could do such a thing, then every soldier could do exactly that. The soldiers enjoyed reading about his exploits and adventures.

Tvardovsky specially invented his Terkin so that he would help the soldiers morally. Supported their fighting spirit. Terkin means "gritty".

Here it is melted down to the opposite shore under enemy fire. Alive, swam, and it was late autumn. The water in the river is cold. But it was necessary to personally deliver a report to someone, because. there was no connection.

The other messengers did not make it to shore. And Vasya swam. At stake was the life of many soldiers and officers who melted down from one shore to another and came under fire from the Nazis.

And for his feat does not require anything. You don't even need an order. He agrees to a medal. And the medal "For Courage" was considered a soldier's order. Well, another hundred grams of alcohol inside to keep warm. Why waste everything on skin? He also has the strength to joke around.

Composition Image of Vasily Terkin image with a description with examples and quotes from the text

Tvardovsky wrote his poem not after the war in the quiet of offices, but practically on it, in the intervals between hostilities. The chapter just written was immediately published in the front-line newspaper. And the soldiers were already waiting for her, everyone was interested in the further adventures of Terkin. Tvardovsky received hundreds of letters from all fronts from soldiers like Vasily Terkin.

They told him interesting stories about the exploits of their fellow soldiers. Some episodes Tvardovsky then "attributed" to his hero. That is why it turned out to be so recognizable and popular.

There was no real person with that name and surname. This image is collective. It contains all the best that is inherent in the Russian soldier. Therefore, everyone could recognize himself in it. Tvardovsky specially invented him so that in difficult times, like a living, real person, he would help the soldiers morally. Everyone was the best friend. Each company and platoon had its own Vasily Terkin.

Where did Tvardovsky get such a surname from? "Torkin" means a grated roll, beaten by life. A Russian person can endure everything, survive, grind, get used to everything.

From the poem, you can learn a little about the biography of Terkin. He comes from the Smolensk region, was a peasant. A good-natured Russian guy, easy to talk to, likes to tell all sorts of stories, a joker and a merry fellow. At the front from the first days of the war. Was injured.

Brave, courageous, fearless. At the right moment, he took command of the platoon. It was he who was sent across the river with a report that the platoon was entrenched on the opposite bank. Those who sent it understood that he had little chance of getting it. But he got there. Alone, swimming, in the icy November water.

Like all Russian peasants, Terkin is a jack of all trades. What he just didn’t do was fix the clock, sharpen the saw, and even play the harmonica. He must have been the first guy in the village. Modest "... why do I need an order, I agree to a medal ..."

He lay in the cold trenches under heavy fire from the Nazis. In the face of death, he did not get scared, but asked her for a respite for one day to see victory and salute. And death receded.

Initially, Tvardovsky planned Terkin as a feuilleton image in order to entertain the soldiers and raise their morale. But he did not notice how he himself fell in love with his hero, and decided to make his image real, not caricatured. To endow him with the best human traits - resourcefulness, courage, patriotism, humanism, a sense of military duty.

The author compares his favorite hero with the hero of Russian folk tales, a soldier who managed to cook soup from an axe. Those. he is resourceful and savvy, can find a way out of any seemingly hopeless situation. "Russian miracle man". On people like Terkin, all of Russia rests.

The poem is written in simple language, easy and long remembered.

Essay 4

Vasya Terkin, of course, is a well-known character and even beloved by everyone. However, I have a slightly different opinion.

I think he is a character, not a real hero. That is, it is clear that such a person does not exist, cannot actually exist. He is too cheerful, optimistic, so joyful ... He would, frankly, annoy me. I'm surprised no one hit him from the soldiers. That is, raising morale is, of course, good, but playing tricks when there is a war around ...

For example, in the scene with the lost pouch. A fighter who has lost an expensive thing is clearly not in the mood for jokes. From the outside it may seem that the pouch is nonsense. But it is clear that for a fighter this loss was the last straw, as they say. He held on when he lost his home, his family, but he held on with the last of his strength. And here is the pouch...

And our "hero" Vasya does not understand the suffering of a soldier. Laughing, mocking, shaming! To something he says that losing the Motherland is scary. But it is understandable, compared: the pouch and the Motherland.

So, Terkin is too positive. I'm not sure that such a person (with such dashing manners) could hold out on a real front.

But of course, Tvardovsky tried to put a lot of good qualities into his hero. And he boldly fights the Germans, and he cannot be kept in the hospital ... However, what unprecedented luck Vasily must still have in order to shoot down a German plane with a gun! It looks more like a soldier's bike! However, here he is Terkin - lucky. In fact, he was also lucky in hand-to-hand combat with the German, although the Fritz was well-fed and strong. It was lucky when our tankers picked him up in the wounded hut, took him to the doctor - they saved him.

I think that at that time the front-line needed such a hero. He is almost a hero, almost Ivan the Fool. He gives readers confidence in victory. The poet repeats through his lips that we will not lose in this war. Fortunately, these words have come true.

And yet, for me, this character is too simple. But that's just my personal opinion.

Option 5

Alexander Trofimovich Tvardovsky - the author of the unforgettable work "Vasily Terkin" Being himself in the thick of things, since he himself fought at the front and went through the whole war as a war correspondent, he talked a lot with soldiers, and he himself more than once got into various difficult situations. Everything that he describes in his book, he heard from ordinary fighters, foot soldiers. During the Great Patriotic War, the infantry played a crucial role in the history of the war, and mainly it was to her that the main merit in the victory belongs. So the main character of the author's story belonged to the infantry.

The image turned out to be collective and averaged. He is an ordinary guy who dreams of love, happiness, family and a peaceful life. One participant in the war wrote: The Germans loved, knew how and wanted to fight, but we fought out of necessity. Turki also fought out of necessity. A cruel enemy attacked his beloved land. His serene happy life on the collective farm was severely cut short by a formidable misfortune, and the war became work for him, like a hot suffering on the collective farm when the rains burst. The whole country turned into a single military camp, and even in the rear, the fascist could not sleep peacefully. Terkin endlessly loves his homeland, calling the earth "mother". His cheerfulness, courage and kindness permeate every chapter of the book. The cheerful and kind-hearted Terkin does not burn in fire and does not sink in water. Because his will to defeat the Nazis is very great in order to free mother earth from the damned invader. He is savvy, as he masterfully gets out of all the troubles in which the author puts him. In addition, he has a great sense of humor, which helps to endure the hardships and difficulties of the front with ease, tipsy, and, not least, helps the reader to follow the adventures of our hero with bated breath and worry about him.

At the front, all the soldiers were looking forward to the release of each new chapter about Terkin. They loved him as a brother and as a friend. And everyone found in themselves and in their comrades something from their favorite hero. The author is trying to show through his Terkin what the Russian people should be like. Only great courage, selflessness and kindness could lead the country to victory. And we won because the Russian engineers were more talented, the technologists were more brilliant, and our twelve- and fourteen-year-old boys, who stood up to the machines instead of their fathers who had gone to the front, turned out to be more skillful and enduring than the overgrown German soldiers. And about each of them we can say that his name was Vasily Terkin. Soldiers fought and died not because their commanders sent them to their deaths, but because they fought for their homeland!!! This feat was, is and will always be, this is a feature of the Russian soldier - to sacrifice himself: the Brest fortress held out until November, everyone died for their homeland! And there are tens of thousands of such examples!

"Vasily Terkin" can be called the bestseller of that time. Glory to the Russian soldier!

  • Peasants and the economy of Manilov in the poem Dead Souls

From the first minutes of your stay in Manilovka, it became clear that it was not easy to lure guests here. The whole atmosphere of the estate, the house open to all winds, the yard with thin birches, the ridiculous flower beds testify to the absence of the master's hand

The protagonist of the poem is a collective, generalized image, embodying the entire warring people. Almost nothing is said about the specific personality of Vasily Terkin. It is only known that he is over twenty - closer to thirty, and that he, like the author, comes from the Smolensk region, that "he fought in Karelian - across the Sestra River."

Terkin is a great lover of life, "a hunter to live up to ninety years old", got into service from the reserve, serves in the infantry, in the troops, "the closest to the earth, to cold, to fire and death." For him, war is an ordinary job that needs to be done correctly, skillfully, not for the sake of glory, but "for the sake of life on earth."

Terkin - who is he?
Let's be frank:
Just a guy himself
He is an ordinary...
Not tall, not that small
But a hero is a hero...

Through commonness, averageness Tvardovsky shows. the typicality of Terkin, because he is the embodiment of the mass of soldiers who endured all the hardships of the war. However, the image of Terkin is devoid of schematism. This is a cheerful, full-blooded hero, with his own special character.

He is a merry fellow, a joker on a halt, a lover of a hearty meal, he is not averse to amusing his comrades by playing the accordion (“Accordion”), helping the old men (“Two Soldiers”), chopping firewood for a soldier (“Before the battle”).

This is a life-loving, good-natured, broad Russian nature, having a generous heart, combining such primordially Russian qualities as sincerity and nobility, sharpness and wisdom, determination and courage.

Vasily Terkin is a heroic image. He, without hesitation, crosses to the other side by swimming in November to report that the crossing platoon has entrenched itself on the other side (“Crossing”), occupies an enemy bunker and holds it until its own troops arrive (“Terkin is wounded”), shoots down an enemy aircraft (“Who fired?”), taking the place of the killed lieutenant, raises the fighters to attack and breaks into the village first (“On the offensive”), cheers and inspires the exhausted soldiers during the battle for the unknown “settlement of Borki”, “Where the war paved the way , / / Where the water was for the infantry / Knee-deep, mud - pile-deep ("Fight in the swamp").

In the chapter "Duel", which is the culmination of the entire poem, Terkin enters into hand-to-hand combat with a physically stronger German:

Tervin knew that in this fight
He is weaker: not those grubs.

But Terkin's morale and confidence in victory are stronger, so he emerges victorious:

And then,
Anger and pain taking into a fist,
unloaded grenade

Terkin German - on the left - shmyak!
The German groaned and went limp...

This chapter echoes the epic epic, and the fight itself grows to a symbolic generalization of "Man-People". Terkin, symbolizing Russia, confronts a strong and formidable enemy, symbolizing Nazi Germany:

Like an ancient battlefield

Chest to chest, that shield to shield, -
Instead of thousands, two fight
As if a fight would solve everything.

But it should be noted that the image of Terkin is deliberately devoid of a romantic halo by the author. as if even lowered. This is achieved through the introduction of colloquial vocabulary, vernacular (“he cracked the German between the eyes”, “put it into the sled”, “gave the bream”, Terkin of the German on the left - “shmyak”, etc.)

Thus, the author seeks to emphasize that the main character is not only a generalized image-symbol, but also a personality, individuality, that for him war is work, hard, dirty, but necessary, inevitable, not for glory, not for orders and medals, not for promotion.
And only in the final stanza does the author allow himself to rise to a large-scale, solemn sounding generalization:

A terrible battle is going on, bloody,
Mortal combat is not for glory,
For life on earth.

In a dispute between two forces, goodness, love and life itself won. These lines are repeatedly heard in the poem, they are a kind of refrain emphasizing the main theme of the work: the unprecedented feat of the Russian soldier.

We meet the same method of generalization and individualization in the chapter "Terkin - Terkin". Vasily meets with his namesake Ivan. Ivan differs from Vasily only in hair color (he is red), a front-line profession (armor-piercer), but otherwise both heroes are similar. The dispute between them is decided by the foreman:

What you don't understand here
Don't understand each other?
According to the charter of each company
Terkin will be given his own.

Tvardovsky's poem is often called an encyclopedia of military reality during the Great Patriotic War" (similar to Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin"). Indeed, the book about a fighter is written exclusively truthfully. The truth of war, no matter how bitter, hits right into the soul.

The poet does not embellish the events, does not depict the exploits of his hero as light and funny, on the contrary, in the poem the strongest chapters are the chapters painted with tragic pathos: "Crossing", "Fight in the swamp", "Death and the warrior", "About the orphaned soldier ".
