Snake drawing in pencil for children. How to draw a snake and how to better understand it. Scales and patterns

199 people a month are interested, and many more people want to know how to draw a viper step by step... with a pencil. How to draw a viper for children!

That's how popular it is! I wonder why she is so attractive to people? Do you like to draw snakes? Or maybe they draw posters on safety precautions, so that in the summer in the forests people can distinguish a viper from a grass snake? But there is something in this. If we have only these two snakes, then, of course, we would like to distinguish poisonous vipers from non-poisonous snakes by sight.

We’ll talk about the snake later, but today our heroine is a viper. What is characteristic of her appearance? Strong, long muscular body, triangular (trapezoidal) head. And the most characteristic feature- vipers usually have a zigzag pattern on their backs.

How to draw a viper step by step

We have already studied how to draw a snake, and now the most important thing for us is to convey the beautiful, graceful twists of the long body - really meanders. And along the entire length it is necessary to ensure the uniformity of thickness. Oddly enough, but (for children) this is very difficult (remember how). It’s the same story with the snake: not having the habit of trying to see the entire image as a whole, children sometimes don’t notice that their snakes often turn out to be “either wider or narrower” models. But this is not our style, we will draw consciously.

Well, the shape of the snake’s body was conveyed well and correctly - one might say that we got a Snake coloring book for coloring it as a viper.

Now this is the same zigzag pattern.

The funny thing here is that the body of the viper is cylindrical - almost round in cross-section, and not flat. And taking this volume into account when distributing the pattern... so lazy! It’s a different matter - you draw a conventional “snake” for yourself with zigs and zags from side to side - beauty! And this one - a real one - also has a belly at the turns, but the pattern is only on the back... Moreover, this pattern is distorted as the viper twists and tries to slide onto its side. Here you have to think carefully about how to draw it all believably. Well, we think so. We think and draw:

Even a child can draw a snake with a simple pencil. To do this, you just need to strictly follow the instructions attached below.

Cold-blooded reptiles are often depicted in various comics. For those who are planning to test themselves as an artist, it is worth starting their training with a snake. Many comic book creators admit that they are the most interesting and entertaining to draw. You can focus on different fantasy characters from folk tales or legends like the Serpent Gorynych or the Basilisk, the lizard demon, and so on. But first, it’s best to learn how to draw an ordinary crawling reptile. What do you need to start the lesson? You will definitely have to get an album or, in extreme cases, separate sheets for drawing, with simple pencils high quality erasers. To begin with, along the entire perimeter of the sheet, the artist draws the head of the snake itself. It looks like an elongated oval. The oval should be divided into two parts, of which the upper one will be larger than the lower one. In the same drawing you need to start drawing the first bulges on the head. Be sure to note that the snake's jaw is convex. Another long and narrow one descends from the oval. It will eventually become the lower jaw. The snake will have an open mouth.

The most expressive features of reptiles are their insatiable and predatory eyes. They are never too narrow. On the contrary, the snake’s eyes are wide open, looking very predatory and ready to attack a small and defenseless victim. Accordingly, it is in them that the cunning and other character traits of the reptile need to be emphasized. Not only the eyes are the mirror of the soul of this reptile. The snake should have flared nostrils. They are usually drawn in the form of two small semicircles on the sides of the upper jaw.

All unsuccessful pencil movements must be erased immediately. They should not interfere or take up space in the picture. Those lines that are successful need to be made more detailed. They can be hatched, outlined, expanded, added shadows, and so on. Outline the edge of the mouth with a thicker pencil. The artist should not doubt and lead with a firm and confident hand. An unsuccessful drawing can be erased at any time. The eyeball will have to be made more voluminous. To do this, the contours are also outlined with a dark thick stylus. The pupil itself is drawn with a thin pencil.

The snake should have its tongue hanging out of its mouth. This effect can be visually achieved by drawing an arch under the upper jaw. After the tongue, you will have to focus on the fangs. Like everyone else beast of prey, in a snake they are powerful and sharp. At the same time, the tongue becomes more detailed with the help of pencils and erasers. The entire snake is literally made up of a head and a neck. You can’t draw one and forget about the other. The neck can be made in the upper right corner if the muzzle itself faces the lower left, and vice versa.

After all the details are drawn, you need to erase unsuccessful or additional lines from the drawing. In addition, after the artist runs an eraser across the sheet, he must draw the remaining lines more dark color. The tail didn't fit in this image. You can try to create a more primitive design, where the snake will sleep, curled up in coils. Only the tail can give away this particular reptile in this position.

Children will draw a snake using the following tips:
  • first you need to create the backbone of the reptile;
  • behind the second bone line another appears, parallel to it a few millimeters further;
  • to the round head you will have to add details such as eyes and a tongue protruding from the mouth;
  • Snakes often have spots all over their bodies that are randomly located.

Since drawing it is quite simple, even after a few trainings with different types reptiles, you can learn a technique that immediately uses a pen instead of a pencil. This image will not be erased. It immediately remains on the sheet. But the result is a more elegant image.

Artists try to draw the skin of the snake to give the drawing a realistic look. Having divided the entire body of the snake into sections, shadows are applied to it in different directions. The image turns out three-dimensional.

For those who decided to draw a snake for the first time, you should open a picture from a book or find it on the Internet. It's best to copy from a photograph first.

We have already drawn various animals, for example, a horse and many. Now let's deal with slippery and extremely dangerous snakes. I admit that I am very afraid of them. But next year is the year snakes and we simply have to draw them in our lessons. First, let's take a closer look at the main part of the snake - the head and fanged mouth. And although the drawing is colored at the end, it seems to me that the step-by-step sketches turned out better than the final one. Here we will look at the details of drawing dangerous snakes and maybe my tips will be useful to you in the future when drawing. It's funny, but the length of snakes can vary from 10 cm to 12 meters! They have an internal skeleton, which can be a real discovery for someone.

Step 1.

Here I will give you examples of how snake heads can differ. Upper snake usually big size, and the second is small, but also dangerous reptiles.

Step 2.

If we look at the structural features of the head, we can see short nose and large and close-set eyes.

Step 3.

I'll add a few more options for the shape of the snake's head. As you can see, they can have several options for expressions and you can choose the one you like best.

Step 4.

Now I will try to make drawing easier for you and show you how to draw a snake’s head in parts in simple three steps. You can easily draw all the options and then choose the one you like for the main drawing. Poisonous snakes have large, sharp, backward-curved venomous fangs on their upper jaws. That's where the main danger lies!

Step 5.

Let's start our drawing. Draw the shape of the snake head and then add midline for eye level and head drawing proportions.

Step 6.

Let's start drawing the main lines. First the top of the head and the top of the mouth. Notice the groove at the top of the head.

Step 7

Now we draw the back of the head and the lower part of the jaw. The lower jaw is long and looks extremely dangerous.

Step 8

Draw expressive eyes, then add nostril holes. Once done, draw the detailing for the shapes and bulges on the head.

Step 9

Draw an outline around the snake's mouth as in our drawing, and then add the eyeballs and pupil slits. Add arched lines at the back of the mouth for the tongue.

Despite its apparent simplicity, drawing snakes baffles parents of children. Children cannot always draw a snake believably themselves, which is why they ask adults. So, let's look at the process of drawing snakes step by step.

How to draw a snake step by step

Stage 1 - First, draw an oval of the snake's head. Then from the head down and to the right we will draw the contour of the body in the form of a winding line.

Stage 2 - We thicken the drawn “skeleton” of the body with two parallel lines, and near the head they should be located wider, and near the tail they should smoothly taper, and draw a line for the upper part of the head.

Stage 3 - drawing the details of the head. We draw the nose in the form of a dot, depict the eyes, the pupils which are located vertically. On the left side of the oval we draw a forked tongue. Let's decorate her body with these various spots.

Stage 4 - use an eraser to remove all auxiliary lines, trying not to disturb the drawing, and make the main outline clearer.

Stage 5 - now you can start coloring the picture.

Let's draw a beautiful and dangerous snake. The drawing is quite complex, but with our step-by-step tips, you can easily cope with this work.

Stage 1. The first stage, as in all our lessons, is to draw an auxiliary frame consisting of auxiliary lines and circles. Focusing on these auxiliary lines, you and I will draw our snake, which will greatly facilitate our work in the future. So, we draw the auxiliary frame as shown in the figure below:

Stage 2. Next, in three stages, we need to draw the face of our snake. In the first stage (picture on the left), we will draw the basic contours of the face, as well as the eyes of the snake. In the second stage (picture in the middle), we need to draw the nostrils of our animal, as well as some small elements. And, on final stage drawing the muzzle (picture on the right), we draw the snake’s mouth along with fangs and its long tongue.

Stage 3. The hardest part is over. Now we move on to drawing the long snake body. We draw it in the same way as shown in the figure below. Pay attention to the end of the body.

Stage 4. At the fourth stage, we erase the auxiliary lines with an eraser; we will no longer need them, since we have already drawn the main contours of our snake. And at the same stage, we begin to draw a pattern on the snake’s body.

Stage 5. We continue to draw the pattern, adding new elements to it (they are highlighted in red)

Stage 6. Drawing the pattern of our snake is not over yet, so, looking at the drawing below, we continue to draw it in the same way.

Step 7. Add some final elements to our pattern, which are highlighted in red in the picture below.

Stage 8. Now you can start coloring our snake something like this:
