Morning still life, Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin - description of the painting. Description of the painting by K.S. Petrova-Vodkina "Morning still life" - Essay on literature

Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin is a powerful, original, unusual painter with his original vision of color, perspective, form, composition. His canvases are expressive to the limit, they always have few details, but a lot of feeling and deep meaning. The work of Petrov-Vodkin reflected the turning point, which he witnessed: the first World War, revolution, Civil War. In the difficult year of 1918, he lived in St. Petersburg and worked as a teacher at an art school. It was then that he created several outstanding still lifes and we will try to take a closer look at two of them - "Morning Still Life" and "Herring". Everyone knows that the time was rather hungry, food was scarce and monotonous, and, apparently, it is no coincidence that there is food in both pictures. This primitive common food is nevertheless depicted with a measure of solemnity, a joyful and bright feeling.

Still life "Herring".
Before us is the surface of the table, covered with crumpled pink paper. Under the paper one can see a canvas in which one recognizes more early picture the artist and in the inverted corner of it the signature of Petrov-Vodkin himself is distinguished. Most likely, this is not even a table, but finished painting, which was placed on a pair of stools - a kind of table. And, in order not to spoil the surface, they covered it with paper.

The perspective is deliberately awkward, as if the horizontal surface of the table is tilted towards the viewer - just look at it, the objects that lie on it will roll down. There are few of these items: two potatoes, a loaf of rye bread and a slightly reddened herring on dark paper. Glare plays on the shiny side of the herring. Most likely, this is some kind of ration that the author received as a professor and happily brought to his workshop, where he is going to share a simple lunch with a couple of friends.

Many witnesses of those years say that herring was then the only available delicacy and everyone was very tired. And yet, when the feeling of hunger rolled up, people rejoiced at the herring. So with the help of just a few objects, the artist depicted that harsh time - truthfully, honestly and optimistically.

Still life "Morning still life".
In "Morning Still Life" there is even more joy and optimism, although in terms of abundance of food it is inferior to "Herring" - there are two chicken eggs Yes, an incomplete glass of tea. But it is not inferior in expressiveness and internal drama.

Most likely, it takes place on the terrace on a bright, but not too sunny summer morning. The wooden table is shown in the same "wrong" slanted perspective. There are only a few items on it, of which most of endowed with a glass, metallic or glossy sheen, which allows the artist to "play" in different ways with light reflections on all surfaces - a red tabletop, a polished teapot, a saucer, a glass of tea, a vase, a broken teaspoon. Objects are reflected in each other: in a small teapot, an egg is reflected as in a mirror and is superimposed on another reflection - a ginger cat. A smart muzzle of a dog peeps out from behind the table.

Only a person is not visible, but his presence is guessed in everything. It was he who collected a blue-yellow bouquet of wild flowers on a morning walk. It's a brown dog looking at him. This is his cat reflected in the teapot. It belongs to him a box of matches and a simple breakfast is intended for him. A small sketch of country life of that time. And again, as in "Herring", we see in the picture captivating honesty, optimism, some kind of especially smart, wise and kind view of the artist on life.

In my opinion, the more the still life reflects real life person, the more likely it is to succeed. It is known that the word "still life" means "dead nature". However, in fact, such paintings, in my opinion, are very lively and bright. I would like to highlight one such example.

In the painting by Petrov-Vodkin "Morning Still Life" we see a very modest breakfast in the village. The artist showed a simple wooden table without a tablecloth, on which there is a bouquet of wild flowers in a glass glass. Blue cornflowers and yellow dandelions look very harmonious against the background of brown furniture and stand out as a bright spot in the picture, drawing attention to themselves. Most likely, they were torn down recently.

Next to the bouquet, the author depicted a saucer with a silver spoon and poured tea in a glass. A little further away lie two boiled eggs, a teapot that reflects sunlight from the window and objects lying on the table. The teapot is polished to a shine, like a mirror. If you look closely, you can even see a red cat, which is invisible at first glance. It also has its reflection in the teapot.

On the table, the artist depicted a few objects, but each of them is drawn with special precision, he clearly traced them. We also see a dark blue matchbox and a flashlight. On the left side of the table sits a thoroughbred dog of a brown-red color. He has a very intelligent look, but his eyes are a little sad and dreary. In general, the still life turned out to be very unpretentious, but very pleasant.

Despite the fact that the author did not show the presence of a person in the picture, it is felt that he is nearby and pets are waiting for him to appear. Or he is resting after a morning walk in the company of his four-legged friends and is going to have breakfast. The picture made a very pleasant impression on me. It brings peace, tranquility and purity.

This a small picture famous artist At the beginning of the 20th century, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin can be seen today in the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. In "Morning Still Life" immediately attracts attention positive attitude, which the artist managed to convey with the help of a joyful play of color.

It would seem that there is nothing special in this picture. The morning sun illuminates the wooden table on the veranda with its first warm rays. visible railings and green grass. Obviously, this is a country house. However, the artist depicts on the canvas the plane of the table at an angle, so that the viewer can clearly see each object located there.

Apparently, the person resting in the country had just returned from a morning walk with his dog. In a transparent jar is a bouquet of freshly picked wild flowers - wonderful blue bells and bright yellow dandelions, on which dew drops have frozen. Probably, the one who has a romantic soul collected the bouquet. This is clearly an intelligent and well-mannered person.
A polished nickel-plated samovar shines on the table, apparently it has recently boiled.

Nearby lies a lid from a samovar, the owner of the country house has not yet managed to return it to its place. Next to the bouquet you can see a nickel-plated pipe from a samovar, it creates traction, and a box of matches, which the summer resident used for kindling, and he could collect chips and cones for this during a walk.

Despite the fact that the table is without a tablecloth, it is felt that the person sitting at it is very neat and does not deviate from the rules of good manners even in the conditions of country life. Instead of a saucer, he placed a faceted glass with freshly brewed tea in a small metal bowl. He probably stirred the sugar and put a teaspoon next to it, which unusually refracts through the edges of the glass. The breakfast of a dacha resident is very modest, with a glass of tea there are only two eggs. This is not surprising, because the picture was painted in 1918, when disturbing events are taking place in the country, people cannot afford anything extra.

But how amazingly Petrov-Vodkin wrote this meager breakfast! Pearl-colored eggs, they, like a samovar, a teaspoon, a glass jar and metal objects on the table, reflect sunlight. even pinkish sun rays the table boards look elegant.

And although the artist did not show the viewer the main character of this picture, he conveyed his attitude towards him. four-legged friend. The red dog is clearly looking at his owner with smart and kind brown eyes, he patiently waits for the owner to treat him with something tasty after the walk. The expression of a dog's muzzle speaks of devotion and love for a person. The dog is not the only animal depicted in the still life. An egg is reflected in a shiny samovar, and behind it you can see the silhouette of a ginger cat, which nestled comfortably opposite.

"Morning Still Life" evokes a feeling of peace and joy from the fact that a new day has begun. The artist subtly conveys the harmony of the unity of man with nature. And this makes the world kinder and more beautiful.

Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin stands apart among those artists who worked with him at the same time. Fascinated by both symbolism and modernism, interested in painting early renaissance, iconography, he was able to develop a special spherical perspective.

short biography

He was born into a shoemaker's family. But you can't hide talent. It is difficult, penniless studied painting in Samara for some time. Later, V.A. became his mentor in Moscow. Serov. At the beginning of the 20th century, Petrov-Vodkin traveled a lot. He visited not only Germany, Italy, France, Turkey, Greece, but also Africa, having met N. Gumilyov. Enriched with impressions and reflections, he came to his own concepts, for example, regarding what the space of a picture means. He found his own theme and way of expressing it. By 1912, the artist's search for his own style was almost over. A description of the painting "Morning Still Life" by Petrov-Vodkin, created at this time, will be given below. He exhibited his works at the World of Art exhibition. The artist accepted the revolution and painted “Death of the Commissar”, “Portrait of Lenin”. He lived the life of the country, which was supposed to open the way to perfection. K.S. Petrov-Vodkin worked a lot and successfully in the field of literature.

He tried himself in works for children, in the autobiographical genre, which was highly appreciated by such contemporaries as K. Fedin, O. Forsh, M. Prishvin, Yu. Tynyanov and others.

Still life

The artist always sets himself a task through object world display spiritual world person. Therefore, things in pictures sometimes receive souls and thus a pagan perception. Almost always there is a desire of the artist in a still life to express the objective beauty of the world with the most minimal means. This still life by Petrov-Vodkin is a chamber work, so to speak. Every stroke of the brush is important in it, as it reflects the artist's vision of the world. This is partly the description of the painting "Morning Still Life" by Petrov-Vodkin, made through the general concepts of the genre.

Sunny morning

As it should be, in the still life, the artist's gaze fell on familiar objects that we simply use and do not notice their uniqueness, their beauty or uncomplicated routine. He offers to look at them in a new way. So, the description of the painting "Morning Still Life" by Petrov-Vodkin is given for the reader.

On a well-planed plank table of a wonderful pinkish-brown hue, ordinary objects are arranged in a circle. The center of the table is empty, it is not littered with anything. Each thing exists on its own, and is closed in a circle of objects in contact with each other. Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin (“Morning Still Life” is the subject of our consideration) does not sharply highlight anything, neither a brightly polished teapot, nor different shades of an egg, one of which is reflected in the edge of the teapot. It also reflects a red cat, which is not visible in the picture. The artist chose the faceted teapot and saucer not by chance. It is these edges that carry additional load. They expand the space. A silver spoon is reflected three times in the sides of the glass. In a glass vase is a bouquet of freshly picked bluebells and yellow dandelions. The light yellowness of the flowers is reflected in the clear fresh water of the vase. Their life is short but beautiful. Right next to the vase lies a blue box of matches. Its color echoes the shades of the bouquet, and the silver lantern shines as brightly as the teapot, creating a complete composition. Not only the cat, whose reflection the viewer had already seen in the teapot, but also a red-haired, mischievous one with sad eyes, came up to the table. He looks for something to steal from the table and eat, but it seems that he does not find anything worthy and quietly waits for the owner to come for breakfast. What did Petrov-Vodkin show on his canvas (“Morning Still Life”) What is depicted on it? This is the world of everyday objects and the soul of the artist, looking at them with a loving look.

General impression

A bright sunny morning immediately creates a joyful mood for the whole day. The purity and brilliance of objects, so sparkling as if fresh dew had just washed them, gives them a special pagan inspiration. They seem to be lit from within. Each item shines in its own special way. The artist saw the essence of each thing, connected them with the highest harmony and transferred them to the canvas. The artist looks at nature both from above and from the side at the same time. This is the so-called spherical perspective. Creating a composition just like this, the artist, apparently, was based on the statements of V.I. Vernadsky, who believed that a person should not forget that he is a resident of not just a state, but a planet.

The reader was given a description of the painting "Morning Still Life" by Petrov-Vodkin, and compose personal opinion about the work everyone can, admiring it.
