How to find out what size shoes you need. How to determine the size of the foot for buying shoes. The fullness of shoes and how to determine it.

Any shoes, both for children and adults, must be comfortable. That is why shoes, sandals or sneakers must be matched exactly to the size of the foot. And, if parents still take care of their children, choosing the right shoes for their growing feet, then for some reason they often don’t even think about their feet. But an adult needs no less comfortable shoes than a child.

Then find the width line that corresponds to the widest part of the foot. When measuring infants, place the ball indicator at the end of the socket. Keep the heel on the heel and place the inside edge of the foot on the indicator. Press your fingers on the device thumb and read the length of the finger. To measure the width, use the diagonal width line that touches the leg at its widest point.

If necessary, use liquid dishwashing detergent. Do not use spray cleaners or disinfectant solutions as they may adversely affect the measuring areas of the device. Manufacturers may use terms such as narrow, wide, regular, wide wide to indicate the size of the width. Contact the shoe retailer or manufacturer for a specific recommendation on their width size. Shop at stores that provide services to their customers and have knowledgeable sales people. Properly fitted shoes take more than picking shoes off the shelf and with a salesperson calling your sale. Be sure to measure both feet. Many people have legs different sizes. Measure your feet and fit them every time you buy shoes. Your foot size changes with age, weight changes, and other factors. The shoe size you were wearing high school probably not true to size. The shoes are equipped at the same time that you will wear the shoes. For everyday shoes, when you are on your feet all the time, your feet will expand. Shoes do not stretch. If they don't feel good at the time of purchase, they will probably never feel right. Properly fitting shoes can prevent long-term foot problems. Take the time to fully tie and properly tie your shoes and walk around in your shoes while trying on. These conditions are not standardized. . So we thought, how can we do it better?

You can follow a simple path: go to a shoe store and start trying on the models you like. But today a lot of purchases are made via the Internet, which is convenient, because you don’t have to leave your home anywhere, and often the choice in online stores is much larger than in real ones.

Of course, when ordering shoes via the Internet, each of us may have doubts whether a new thing will fit or not fit in size. But for our convenience, almost every site that sells shoes provides size charts. The only thing we need to do is to correctly and accurately measure the size of our feet at home.

To make it easier for you to define right size shoes for each brand, we went to our warehouse and looked at all of our different brands of shoes to see how they compare, how long each shoe is, and how they fit. From this research comes a sizing guide to help you find the right cycling shoe size for any brand.

We measured the shoes for inside shoes, measuring from the heel to the very end of the toes. This quickly showed us that the same sizes can vary greatly in length and width between different brands of cycling boots. That's why we've made an extensive review to help you find the right shoe size!

Sizes vary

Modern shoe manufacturers mainly use three measurement systems: French, English and the CIS system. Consider their fundamental differences.

Sizes according to the CIS system are measured by the length of the leg in millimeters. This is a very simple method that allows you to get the most accurate result, which is why it is so common (shoes in CIS sizes can be found in almost every store).

Defining tight shoes

To determine the correct shoe size, you first need to know the length of your foot. This tells you, in centimeters, what shoe size you will need. Then you can check which shoe size you need. Place your foot directly on the wall with your heel. It may seem a little complicated, but if you follow the steps below, you will know your size right away. Want to go straight to your favorite brand's size chart?

Cycling shoe size

Take a piece of A4 paper and place it on the floor right up against the wall. Place your foot on the paper and make sure your heel is properly pressed against the wall. Draw a line at the end of your thumb. Measure the length and you know the foot length in centimeters. To be sure, measure both feet. Most often they vary slightly in length. When choosing new boots, always use the larger of the two measurements.

In order to determine the exact size, you need to measure the bare foot from the tip of the longest toe to the rounding of the heel in millimeters.

In the French sizing system, it is not the foot that is measured, but the insole. Its unit of measurement is called a stroke (bar mass system), which is equal to two-thirds (2/3) of a centimeter, which is approximately 6.6 millimeters.

Since you want to have a little breathing room in your shoes, add about 5 millimeters to your measurement.

We recommend that you maintain 5 millimeters of clearance as this allows you to walk on your shoes. If you increase this margin, then there is a chance that you will start to slip on your shoes. This is the last thing you need when you are pressing the line against your friends!

At the same time, a margin of about 10 millimeters for an allowance is already laid on the insole. Such a system is complex and incomprehensible to ordinary people and practically does not occur in our country.

In the English system, the insole is also measured, it is somewhat simpler than the French one, but can also confuse the buyer. Dimensions are measured in inches (one inch = 2.54 centimeters). The baby's foot is taken as size zero, which is approximately equal to 4 inches (10.16 centimeters). Each next size differs from the previous one by 1/3 inch.

Step 2: Find the right shoe size with your favorite brand

Start looking for your dream shoes and see what size in centimeters fits your feet. These shoes must match then!

Step 3: Check the shoe width

Just to be sure, check the width of the shoe. We have listed the shoes as narrow, medium or wide. To determine your shoe width, simply measure the circumference of your foot. Do this by measuring the widest part of your leg as shown in the image above. Now find the length of the foot in the table without adding 5 mm. The leg lengths marked behind are the corresponding widths.

When sizes go from zero to 13, a new size grid appears. In it, shoe sizes again start with one, and also end with number 13. At the same time, size number 1 in the second dimensional grid is equal to size number 13 of the first dimensional grid. Of course, such a system of sizes also has its own complexity and nuances, so the sizes according to the CIS system are considered the simplest and most convenient.

This instantly shows you if you have a narrow, medium or wide foot. It's time to start looking for the right shoes! Then it's probably best not to go for shoes that are narrower in their design. They will most likely cause pressure points, which means you will need to return the shoes because they are not comfortable. We have noticed that the average shoe tends to fit just about everyone.

Step 4: Order your shoes and don't forget your ways!

After taking all the measurements you need, double check everything and have you found the right cycling boots for you? Then just order them from us and have them delivered to you in just a few days. All you have to do is mount your blades and jump on your bike!

Width according to your leg length

Is it better to buy shoes that are too big or too small? How many times do you ask yourself this question? This will give you both the width and length of your leg. There are many people who find, by evaluating their legs, that they have one leg longer or wider than the other. This is normal and nothing to worry about. One of the reasons why this happens may be genetic and you can blame it on mom or dad. Bun and tailor shaping are bone abnormalities that have a genetic predisposition and will change the anatomical alignment of the bones of the foot, making it appear wider.

Let's give a few practical advice how to measure the foot of an adult and a child. First of all, you need to take off your shoes and socks, stand with both feet on a piece of paper and trace the contours of the feet. It's best to do it thin. with a simple pencil, keeping it slightly sloping and pressing close to the foot. Having received such “prints”, you need to measure the length of both.

Feet growth rates in children

Another reason could be that due to the foot paw where the ligaments loosen and the foot can lengthen and expand. The binding in the leg may also be affected and the leg may become wider and longer. However, once the leg gets longer or wider, it does not return to its original size. The rule of thumb you live by when buying a pair of boots is that there should be a toe width between the tip of your longest toe and the end of the shoe. The first, second, or third toes are often landmarks because they tend to be the longest toes.

The legs may differ slightly in size, in which case you need to take as a basis the value that is slightly larger. If the length is not a whole number, round it up to 5 millimeters.

In addition, you can measure another value: the length from the inner edge of the foot to the outer. You need to do this on the back side, passing through the very high point arch (rise), which is located near the fold of the foot. Such a measure is needed to more accurately determine the individual volume.

Always buy a pair of shoes that are suitable for bigger foot. The reason for this is so that you can place the shelving on the rack in a large one to either take up part of the room or prevent slippage. Never put your foot in shoes that are too small or too tight. Wearing ill-fitting boots can cause foot, ankle, knee and lower back problems. Shoes that don't fit properly can throw off your balance and make you walk funny.

If the shoes are too tight, you can develop ingrown toenails, corns on the top and side of the toes, and irritate the skin, leading to blistering. The solution to these problems is to take your time when choosing a new pair of shoes. Try not to buy shoes only on emotions. Hint: buy shoes at the time you are likely to wear them, because feet can often swell during the day. If your feet float around the shoe and slide forward, place insoles or a kickstand in your boot to take up some extra room and also prevent slipping.

The measurement of children's legs occurs in exactly the same way. Make sure that the child does not sit, but stands. Only in standing position you can get the exact length of the foot, because. under the influence of weight, it may slightly increase in size. In addition, ask the child not to bend the fingers, this can also lead to incorrect measurements, which means that the shoes will be too tight and small.

If the arch in the foot dries out when wearing shoes that are too big and cramp because the toes are twisted inside the shoes, my company makes a counter shoe product available to prevent this problem. This oval arch support profile, one size fits all, will stop the foot from moving forward in the shoe and prevent skin irritation.

If you did everything right and got the exact measurements of your or your child's foot, you can safely go to the store, real or virtual. Happy shopping!

Measuring your feet and calculating the correct shoe size

Shoe size: more than just a number

Think about how many steps you will take in one day. Our legs are probably the most highly stressed parts of our bodies and are much less reliable than many people think. Having the right shoes with the proper fit plays an important role in preventing painful deformities and other orthopedic problems such as "hammer toes" or twisted thumb.

The wide range of different shoe systems and the different measurements used make it easy to get confused, so it's always best to measure your feet and determine the size before buying new shoes. Most shoe sizing systems are based on foot length. Determining leg length is easy.

Shoes - an integral part of wardrobe. Choosing shoes is a responsible and sometimes difficult task. It is important that it does not press, does not fall off the leg, that is, that the size of the product ideally matches the size of your foot. And now, when most purchases are made via the Internet, it is necessary to correctly determine the size of shoes. If you decide to buy shoes made not in an underground workshop, but on the official websites of well-known manufacturers, you can be sure that Size chart will be true.

The best time to measure is during the day or evening when your feet are flattened to normal size. If you measure your feet in the morning, they will be smaller, which will give you the wrong size, and then you will buy shoes that were too small. Measure the longest distance from the heel to the tip of the thumb. Enter the measurement into the shoe size calculator.

  • Put your feet on a piece of paper.
  • Stick the paper to the floor with tape so it doesn't slip.
  • Draw the leg with the pen, holding the pen in your hand.
Another tip: if one of your boots is always too tight, measure both feet and then use the length of the largest foot to calculate the size.

How to measure your foot correctly?

Before you take on the ruler, pay attention to some subtleties and tips:

1. Do not measure your leg in the morning, it is better to postpone this procedure for the evening, because in the evening the foot increases a little.

2. Be sure to wear socks, because in most cases we wear shoes with a toe. But do not overdo it, you do not need to wear a terry or knitted sock, otherwise the measurements will be very different from reality.

3. Measure both legs, and take as the final value greater result. It often happens that a person's legs are not the same.

In order to choose the right shoe size for yourself, you need to know two main parameters: the length of the foot and its completeness.

Foot length
To determine this parameter, take Blank sheet paper, place it on a flat surface and stand on it. Circle the foot in a circle with a pencil, while making sure that the position of the pencil is strictly vertical, and it always touches the foot. Then remove your foot and measure the distance from the heel to the toes, this will be the length of your foot. At the same time, remember that you need to measure two legs, and choose a larger value.

Then, using the table, determine your size:

Thus, it is possible to determine the Russian shoe size. This measurement system complies with the international standard ISO 3355-77. And it is convenient in that it does not have corrections for the shape of the pads. But this system is not used in all countries.

In French system based on the length of the insole. The unit of measurement of the insole is a stroke, which is equal to 2.3 cm. The length of the insole is always slightly longer than the length of the foot, since the shoe has a so-called decorative allowance. And its size can be as much as 15 mm.
AT English system It is customary to measure length in inches. 1 inch is equal to 2.54 cm. The length of the foot of a newborn (about 4 inches) is considered the zero size, and then the numbering starts from 0 and goes through 1/3 inch to 13, and then repeats again from 1 to 13.
American system measurements are similar to English. But the dimensions are shifted to zero by 1/12 inch, that is, by 2.1 mm. That is, some US and UK sizes are the same. Even in America there is a system of sizes for women's shoes large sizes. It is numbered from 1 to 13, but it is even more shifted to the beginning of the measurement in the direction of decrease.
Knowing your Russian shoe size, you can determine the size in sizing systems different countries. For convenience, all sizes are listed in the table:

Probably, many are familiar with the feeling when you put on shoes of your size, and your foot is clamped in it or, on the contrary, dangles. And it turns out that the shoes also differ in completeness. The fullness of the foot is called the girth of the foot in its widest part.

In the countries of the European Union, such dimensions are adopted that determine the fullness of the foot

B- narrow foot

D- foot of standard fullness,

E- fullness is slightly above average,

EE- wide (or full) foot.

But it is difficult to determine your completeness by eye, so it is better to return to measurements again. To do this, we use the formula:

W \u003d 0.25B - 0.15C - A, where

W- the fullness of your foot,

B– foot girth (mm),

With– foot length (mm),

BUT- coefficient, the value of which can be determined from the table.

To make it clearer, consider a simple calculation example.

Let's say your foot length is (C) 22 cm, girth of the foot at the widest point (H) 20.5 cm. We make a calculation: 205x0.25 - 220x0.15 - 17 = 1.25. Thus, in Russian system measurements, your fullness is 1 (the value has been rounded).

And to buy shoes from foreign sites, you need to translate domestic values fullness in foreign. The following table will help with this (the American and English systems of measurement are identical, therefore the American is omitted from the table):

But often on US sites do it easier. They distinguish 3 sizes of completeness:

N (narrow)- narrow foot

M (medium)- average fullness of the foot,

W (wide)- wide foot.

Explain all of the above simple example. Before us women's shoes. This model is perfect for any light dress, and will complement both the bride's outfit and the prom dress.

Let's pay attention to the characteristics of these shoes, located next to the product:

- colors(colors available) and meterial;

- size(available sizes) - in the figure, the length of the foot is circled in green (number), and the fullness is circled in red (letter);

- Size Chat(size table) - each manufacturer has its own size table or sizes are indicated in several systems (as in this case).

For example, if we choose shoes for our 38 foot size of medium fullness, then we need a size 8M.

Let's take another example. Before us are men's shoes:

Next to the product are available Select a Size, and below are the width options. In this case, there are several.

As you can see, it is not difficult to transfer your Russian shoe size to foreign measuring systems. These calculations will only take you a couple of minutes. But knowing your size in different measurement systems, you can make purchases on domestic and foreign sites without worries. Thus, save your time and money, and enjoy high-quality shoes from the most famous brands.
