Interesting books for children 8 years old. What to read to a seven year old child

Friends, hello! Do you know what I did today? Cleaning! And everything would have been fine until I reached the bookshelves. And this is where the complete trash begins! I hope you have your own method of putting things in order. Because what’s happening in my house already looks like something between a reading hut and a cave with stolactites. Piles of publications accumulate into mountains and actively prevent me from putting everything on the shelves. They attract me with memories and intriguing names. Well, there is no way to get through them to order in the house. I usually immerse myself in reading for a long time. And then I thought, I am an adult who has a specific goal for the moment, and I’m getting lost in such an abundance of literature. What about our kids? How can they figure out what to read now and what to put off until later? This is what I decided to devote today’s conversation to. It's about books for children 8-9 years old, a list.

You may ask me why this particular age? Well, gradually, if possible, I plan to devote such a section as “Literature for Children” to all ages, starting from preschool. But I’ll also note right away that for 15 and 16-year-old teenagers, most likely, such “tips” are not so important. After all, they are old enough to understand their preferences and needs. But for a 9-year-old schoolchild who is in grades 2-3, good advice would not hurt.

So, I will determine the directions of our journey into the world of second-hand books and set off on a journey. These are books:

I will characterize each literary movement. I’ll show you why she should pay attention to our kids. And at the end, especially for you, my dear friends, I have prepared a list of what I recommend reading myself and what experienced parents of eight-year-olds and teachers advise.

School program

It so happened that all students were released to large summer holidays only when they are provided with a huge scroll with a list of all kinds of Talmuds. Where does such reverent “care” for children come from? And what dictates the behavior of teachers that they offer some works to the little ones for independent familiarization?

Remember your school years. Did you read a lot this summer? Did you have time to read during the curriculum, among all kinds of lessons and assignments? But now we all understand that it’s good that we took the opportunity to get acquainted with the works famous writers and poets, learn about our literary contemporaries. Thanks to such a varied literary menu, we developed our own taste and appetite for reading. Surprisingly, some works are etched in our memory. Interesting and useful, they accompany us to this day.

At the age of 8, the strength with which Pushkin or Lermontov talked about such things is impressive. simple things, like the sky that breathes in autumn, or about mountain peaks sleeping in silence. Toddlers, with their talent for imagining everything we're talking about, are happy to learn about Mazai’s feat, and that even hares can be grateful. For reading, the child will be offered such fairy-tale collections that will introduce them to people - their fellow countrymen, to the beauty of their land and Motherland, to traditions and customs.

To raise an inquisitive child

Tell me, when your children were very small, they tormented you with their “What?”, “How?” and why?"?

But sometimes it happens that little ones grow up and stop asking these questions. important questions. Is it good? No. After all, the process of discovering this world has just begun. And there is so much more for our children to learn!

Based on this knowledge, they can choose their life path, profession and hobbies. Therefore, this category of books should be given special importance! Remember! You guide your little ones with the help of stories and fairy tales! You open the borders to them, give them a map and a compass. Educational books can serve as this equipment.

For example, such as the story of Dragunsky and the inquisitive and naive Denis. And how educational it will be for the little one to travel with Nils and his friends from the flock of geese. This is not only an opportunity to observe the geography of the flight of geese from country to country, and not only to get carried away by the adventures that met along their way. But this is also a reflection on how the child’s thinking was transformed during the yoke of flight.

Publications that will help us shape the personality of the baby

At 8-9 years old, kids are like clay. And it’s very easy to use them to form a personality that you yourself will be proud of over time. And books play a huge role in this. The best ones show inner beauty a person who has kindness, honesty, respect and understands that he bears his share of responsibility for everything he does and says.

When reading these stories, do not rush to turn the pages last page. Stop, ask questions, talk with your baby and help him learn to think. At this age, children are able to make decisions about what to do. And the most interesting stories they will be helped with this. The heroes of these works simply and clearly explain the connection between cause and effect and the advantage of being a quality person.

A striking example is A little prince. Let him become a role model. His thoughts about good and evil, about the fact that the warmth of our hearts is important for someone and we are responsible for the consequences, are very close to the thoughts of the toddlers. Or, the example of the little girl Momo that Ende told about. The girl knew the value of time and kindness and was able to convey this to all her friends!

Bye! And see you later!

At six or seven years old, children become more and more independent, and it is sometimes difficult for parents to influence their behavior. Therefore, it is so important at this stage to support and instill universal human values and moral principles. We will tell you what to read to children aged 6-7 years in this review.

How to read with a 6-7 year old child?

If you used to read aloud to your baby a lot, now it's time to switch roles. At the age of 6-7 years, the child should most read books on your own. Ask your little one to recite the text for you more often so you can evaluate his reading technique. Remember that a first grader should not break long words into syllables. It is important to remind people about the need for pauses at the end of sentences and at punctuation marks.

To develop expressive reading skills, choose works with a lot of dialogue and ask your child to voice different roles.

This will develop skills acting and will help the bookworm to better imagine the plot of the story. Encourage your child to come up with a continuation of the story or continue the rhymes of the poem. This will activate creative inclinations and increase interest in reading.

In first grade, daily reading turns into boring homework, so it is important to maintain a love of literature. Explain the difference between reading for the school curriculum and for pleasure and entertainment, and most importantly, choose the right works for your child.

What books should children 6-7 years old read?

Even if it seems to you that your student is already quite an adult, you should not torment him with adult books with small print. Choose children's publications with colorful illustrations that will help you more clearly imagine the characters in the story and the events taking place. Allow your child to independently choose publications in the bookstore and on the shelf at home to understand what genres are interesting to him.

Six-year-old children are already well acquainted with small forms of literature: stories and poems, so their library can be diversified with new genres: fables, stories, plays and even novels.

It is important that children's literature for children 6-7 years old consists of several chapters and that reading can be spread out over several days.

This will simultaneously awaken in the child a desire to learn the continuation, and develop patience and perseverance.

Books for children 6-7 years old should not be too complex and serious; when choosing books, be guided by your child’s horizons. The child must not only read, but also understand all the twists and turns of the plot, otherwise he will quickly get bored with reading. Choose popular works, because at the age of seven it is important for children to easily join the team, and discussing what they read will be an excellent start to a conversation.

When choosing non-fiction literature, pay attention to children's encyclopedias and educational publications that match the interests of your bookworm. Boys always like colorful albums about cars, technology and sports, while girls will like encyclopedias about outfits or pets. Horror films for children are also in great demand these days.

The most obvious answer to the question of what books to read to children 6-7 years old is this. If you have already exhausted the repertoire of Russian folk tales, you can move on to more serious works, such as “The Scarlet Flower” by S. Aksakov, “The Malachite Box” and “ Silver hoof"P. Bazhov, "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel", "The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish" and other works by A. Pushkin.

Andersen occupies a special place among storytellers, whose works are very popular with children. The story of Gerda from " Snow Queen" cannot help but touch the hearts of both boys and girls, and misadventures ugly duckling help kids survive the difficulties of transitioning to a new team.

Diversify your repertoire of fairy tales with stories from the peoples of the world, choosing the best from English, French and German literature. Don’t forget about the indescribable atmosphere of the East in stories about magic lamp Aladdin, Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

Legends and myths adapted for children can also be included in this category. Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. Among them there are many instructive stories and stories about brave heroes and terrible monsters that no young adventure lover can resist.

Majority literary works filmed, films, fairy tales, and clips for children were created based on them.

This is just a short list of books that are suitable for children aged 6-7 years. You can change and supplement it at your discretion, depending on the tastes and preferences of your own child.

In addition, we note that the method based on children's books is especially popular now. Reading foreign books, the child learns a foreign language faster and easier.

What books do you read to your children?

Books for children

At the end of first grade, all students can read. In order for children not to lose reading fluency and interest in intellectual pursuits during the three summer months of vacation, parents must make sure that they have a literature list for 1st grade for the summer.

Our dear readers! We decided to slowly move the books from Papa and Mama to a separate site. You can get acquainted with the best children's books for seven-year-olds. A list with voting, that is, you can vote for books from the list and even suggest your own.

Well, in order to motivate the adults themselves, let’s draw the following parallel: if we want our children to learn to dance, we send them to dance, play musical instrument- V music school, became dexterous and strong - in sports section. Then the question is: what should we do if we want our children to be able not only to perceive information, convey it verbally, but also analyze it, while having their own point of view? The answer, we think, is clear: they must read good literature. In our case, these will be interesting and educational books; for 7-year-olds, you can choose many such options.

How to interest a first-grader?

What needs to be done to instill interest in literature? During the preschool period, we would advise parents to read to their children as much and as often as possible. But now that the child has mastered literacy, the approach should be somewhat different. After the first year of school, children can easily read all books for 1st grade on their own! At this stage the main task parents - to give the child a “taste” of reading, to teach him to perceive it as a pleasure, and not as a duty, and certainly not as a punishment.

How to achieve this? Firstly, you need to take into account that books for children 7 years old should be appropriate for their age, which means they should be bright, easy to understand and at the same time carry a “grain” of knowledge, that is, replenish lexicon child, broaden his horizons. Secondly, focus on the child’s independent reading - under no circumstances read to him out loud: change roles - before you read books to him, now he reads to you. At the same time, you will impartially evaluate your child’s reading technique.

Probably, some parents are concerned about the question: how many words per minute should a seven-year-old child read? In fact, you don’t need to stand with a stopwatch in your hands and calculate the number of words you read in 60 seconds. Take any books for 7-year-old children and give your child the opportunity to choose the one that interests him, with its cover and illustrations. Don't show your baby that you want to test him - anxiety may make him read worse. Just ask him to read it out loud, tell him that you also really liked this book and now you can’t wait to find out what it’s about.

What is good"?

You can give your first-grade graduate an “excellent” rating if his reading is fluent and there is no division of long words into syllables; punctuation marks are observed: at the end of the sentence the voice is lowered - the thought is finished, in place of commas there are small pauses emphasizing the author's thought; Interrogative and exclamatory sentences are read with appropriate intonation.

If you, frankly speaking, are dissatisfied with your child’s reading technique, and this may well be the case, do not be upset: over the summer your child will learn to read very well, but only if the list of literature for the summer for 1st grade is not just rewritten, but adopted as a “guide to action.”

But those parents who think that their child’s reading technique is already excellent, that is, he reads fluently, should “support” his achievements in the summer. You can see what literature is offered for the summer for 1st grade for children of this age category, choose some book with a lot of dialogues. Periodically invite the child to voice “roles.” The child will enjoy this exercise, and the parents will solve an important educational problem: over the summer the child will learn to read not only quickly, but also expressively, and will learn the basics of “acting.”

It is very important to understand the capabilities of a child of this age: he seems to be already a schoolboy, but at the same time it is difficult for him to sit still for a long time, he does not like “difficulties”, if he is not interested at all, he quickly loses interest in the lesson. It's still like in kindergarten, are attracted to bright pictures. Based on this, he needs to select books for a 7-year-old that he will immediately like, even visually, that is, the child will want to look at colorful illustrations, and then, accordingly, find out the plot.

Common mistakes parents make

The mistake of many parents is that they strive to quickly “complicate” the material for their children, so books for first graders no longer seem relevant to them: they want their children to be significantly ahead of their peers. Sometimes you can hear fathers and mothers proudly saying that their seven-year-old child is already reading, for example, the story by A.S. Pushkin “ Captain's daughter” or something else from the high school program. And now we have come to the most important thing: books for 1st grade are selected taking into account what a small student can understand! Indeed, if a child has mastered the technique of reading, he will voice - only voice, but not understand - a text of any complexity: such reading will do nothing for the formation of the child’s personality.

Therefore, books for the summer in 1st grade are offered only those that are understandable to a small student and carry a certain educational idea.

Do not under any circumstances give up fairy tales, even if it seems to you that your baby already knows them by heart. This is the most beneficial material for education moral values in a child, the development of his imagination.

The list of books for the summer for 1st grade may include the following fairy tales:

  • P.P. Bazhov. " ", " ".
  • V.I. Dal. "", "The Fox and the Bear".
  • P.P. Ershov. " ".
  • A.S. Pushkin. " ", " ", " ".
  • L.N. Tolstoy. " ".
  • G. H. Andersen. " ", " ", " ", " ", " ", "The King's New Outfit", " ", " ", " ", "Snowman".

  • Ch.Perrot. " ", " ", " ", " ".
  • D. Rodari "".
  • T. Jansson. Fairy tale-story "".

We would strongly advise parents to invite their children to read collections of Russian folk tales, as well as collections of fairy tales of other peoples.

The list of summer books for 1st grade should also include fables. These short moralizing stories help to form a system of moral values in a child, to understand what “friendship”, “selflessness” is, and why “cunning”, “boasting”, “lies” are bad. Invite your child to read the fables:

  • I.A. Krylov. "Wolf and Fox", " ", "

To these books you can add encyclopedias and educational books according to age. Maybe Zero is not to blame?

Good afternoon, dear readers! Has your fidget already become a first-grader? Tell me, how often do you see him reading a book? No, not with a textbook, but with a work for extracurricular reading.

Do you remember the time of your childhood? There were no modern gadgets there, but that didn’t make it any worse. We read, walked, made friends, in my opinion, it was great! Today I want to recommend you some publications. So, books for children 7-8 years old list best stories, fairy tales, adventures and more!

It would be nice to have such printed publications in the house that will not lie idle. Unfortunately, this happens with any thing, whether you buy it or give it as a gift, but the picky critic doesn’t like it. And as children, oh, how selective they are! Do you have anything to tell about this?

It’s good if up to this point the love of reading has been developed and preserved. Because now your little one has important stage: a school where you have to read independently. And, I’ll tell you a secret, book products will either help increase the love of reading, or repulse, perhaps forever. Therefore, it is important to first make a choice according to certain rules:

  1. All products read must be strictly age appropriate. Nothing terrible will happen if you get your hands on an essay for a younger generation. But for older people, where there is a lot of text and incomprehensible content, it can turn off the restless.
  2. Dear parents, no horror stories! The child’s psyche is not yet stable, do not take risks.
  3. Buy texts with meaning! You know, it’s easy to give children what you once read yourself. But there is also modern literature, where the content is not always known. Study it yourself before it ends up in your child’s hands.

It will be great if the baby spends time with a book publication for at least an hour a day. Well, what categories might be interesting at this age?

Classification

  1. Fairy tales.
  2. Stories about school, animals, nature.
  3. Classic.
  4. Poems.
  5. Adventures.

Now, in order: I will recommend a list for each category separately. Shall we start?

Fairy tales

Agree, the baby has not yet grown up and still believes in miracles. Only miracles should not just be filled with magic, but teach. Using examples fairy tale characters a child must explore the world, learn to believe in himself, understand that all roads are open to him! In principle, other genres also have this function. It’s up to him to decide what your researcher will like! Leave the right of choice to him.

  • "Old Man Hottabych" L. Lagin. Are you familiar with this story about the schoolboy Volka? In my opinion, every child who reads this magical work will secretly hope to meet the same bearded magician.
  • "The Wizard of Oz" Volkov A. On the one hand there is adventure, on the other there is an extraordinary fairy tale. And this can be called a whole series of books! Because the work consists of several parts.
  • "Vovka in far away kingdom» Korostylev V. And for those who don’t really want to study: an instructive story about one schoolboy who ended up in a book. Only after going through a series of tests will he learn to work hard.

We remember these wonderful stories, not only from books, but also from film adaptations or cartoons. But the baby will probably like some school stories which he will try on for himself?

Stories about school, animals and nature

What is relevant at 7 years old, a baby can find on the pages readable works. This should arouse great interest and love for the world around us. Here's what I managed to find in the online bookstore:

As you can see, there are both ours and foreign authors. But I want to highlight my classics separately.

Classic works for children

We remember very well the kitten that hid under a hat that was christened alive. And the unusual little humpbacked horse? This is such a distant and such a native genre of Russian classics. Distant because we grew up on it, and some of our parents grew up on it! But it will never go out of fashion. Here are some good editions:

  • "The Little Humpbacked Horse" Ershov P.
  • "Silver Hoof" Bazhov P.
  • "The Scarlet Flower" Aksakov S.T.
  • "Little Khavroshechka" folk creation.
  • "Tsvetik Semitsvetik" Kataev V.P.
  • "Living Hat" Nosov N.

Everyone is familiar with these names. Do you remember the content? Now there is a great opportunity to remember everything before small parts! Our publications are kind and sweet, instructive and dear. I think more than one generation will grow up reading these interesting works!

Poems for kids

This is a universal category, both for easy reading and for memorizing for holiday matinees. Do you remember literature lessons, when they assigned yet another essay at home? Do you know the secret of how to answer an A without error? You open the book to that very poem, put it under your pillow and go to bed! But just before that, you still have to learn it, just to be on the safe side! What if they call you to the board?

Well, no joke, of course, you need to learn. This really develops memory and thinking. Here is a short list I compiled:

  • “Poems” Yesenin Sergey.
  • “Poems and stories” Plyatskovsky M.
  • “New Year's Carnival” Irina Novikova.
  • "New Year's book for kids".
  • "Bunny" Barto A.

Not only to New Year's party, but for other holidays the children will have to learn poetry. Here we need to carefully explain that this is really necessary. Believe me, it is much easier if the child learns not only special occasions, but also just like that. Take care of this issue, because it will be much easier for the baby later.

Adventure genre

What seven-year-old schoolboy doesn't like to imagine? Here is a list to help you develop this very fantasy:

  • "Adventures of Electronics" Veltistov E. I think everyone in childhood dreamed of finding themselves, at least for a day, in the place of Seryozha Syroezhkin. And you?
  • "Alice's Adventures" Kir Bulychev.
  • "Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors" Gubarev V.
