Pskov Regional Philharmonic. Philharmonic The Last "Blizzard" of winter

The Regional Philharmonic of the city of Pskov was, is and will continue to be one of the brightest and most memorable spiritual dominants for a considerable number of generations of the city. For sixty years of its fruitful work, the audience of Pskov was presented with a global panorama of not only domestic, but also world musical culture of various eras, styles, genres and musical trends. Performances of world-famous and popular musical groups of Russia, as well as outstanding performers, for example, such as the Russian Academic Chapel of the city of St. Petersburg under the direction of Vladislav Chernushenko, the concert choir of the Ballet and Opera Theater named after M.P. Mussorgsky St. Petersburg, the State Russian Academic Ensemble called "Russia", as well as People's Artist of Russia Lyudmila Zykina.

Over time, certain musical traditions have developed in the Pskov Philharmonic Society, which have become highly revered, recognized and loved by the Pskov audience. One of these traditions is the holding of various music festivals.

In recent years, a festival movement has developed, which finally took the form of a festival philharmonic cycle, starting in January with Christmas musical evenings and continuing throughout February, March and April with festivals in honor of famous and recognized musical geniuses: M.P. Mussorgsky, B.S. Troyanovsky, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov and ends as a festival cycle in the last month of the year with the so-called "Day of the Gusli" - an international festival, as well as a competition of performers playing folk multi-stringed instruments.

The creation of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra took place in 1996. During this time, the orchestra became the leading and leading musical group not only in the city of Pskov, but also in the Pskov region, without whose direct participation not a single large-scale event was held.

At different times, high-level performers collaborated with the symphony orchestra: Vladimir Mishchuk - Honored Artist of Russia, Sergei Roldugin - People's Artist of Russia, Mark Drobinsky - cellist from France, Count Murzha - violinist, laureate of international competitions, Nello Alessi - guitarist from Italy, Olesya Golovneva is a laureate of an international soprano competition. Such eminent conductors as Alexander Razumov, Arkady Galkovsky, Morten Sorensen from Italy, Brenda Lynch from the USA have worked with the Pskov Orchestra.
The orchestra performed with great success in Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Latvia.

On the day of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the symphony orchestra, the Pskovites received a gift in the form of a performance of Verdi's opera La Traviata, which opened up new horizons in the further development of the musical activity of the city of Pskov. In addition, the orchestra has become a regular participant in Pskov music festivals: the Pushkin Theater Festival, the All-Russian Poetry Festival in honor of A.S. Pushkin, festivals dedicated to Russian music in honor of Rimsky-Korsakov, Mussorgsky, as well as the festival of Russian folk music, which is held in honor of balalaika virtuoso B.S. Trojan.

Musical groups performing folk, classical, jazz music also play an important role in the work of the regional philharmonic society. Ensembles, quartets, trios and duets successfully cope with the task of musical enlightenment by participating in festivals and competitions, as well as touring distant regions - these are instrumental duets, Bayan Quartet, Piano Jazz Concert, Pskov Russian Music Ensemble performing in kindergartens and schools.

Since ancient times, Pskov has been a city of high culture, including music. To this day, Pskov people love good music and carefully preserve their traditions. Anyone can join the world of Pskov melodies at the Pskov Regional Philharmonic.

One of the main centers not only, but in general, the cultural and even spiritual life of the city. Over the years of its existence, the Philharmonic has developed its own musical traditions, which are loved not only by Pskov people, but also by musicians and simply music lovers outside of Pskov.

The history of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic is symbolic in many ways. It was founded in 1944, after the liberation of Pskov from the German invaders. Thus, the creation of the musical dominant of the city and its post-war reconstruction went hand in hand. We can say that Pskov rose from devastation to the sound of music coming from the halls of the Pskov Philharmonic.

Within these walls, instruments and voices of world and all-Russian famous performers and groups sounded. People's favorite Lyudmila Zykina sang here, a symphony orchestra and a concert choir of the Theater of Opera and Ballet named after V.I. Mussorgsky, the State Ensemble "Russia" and many others.

Its own symphony orchestra appeared in 1996 and quickly gained recognition in the world of music. At different times, not only Russian, but also foreign musicians, including conductors of the highest level, honored artists and laureates of international competitions, were honored to collaborate with the Pskov orchestra.

Exactly at Pskov Regional Philharmonic a local festival tradition has developed. This is not just a collection of disparate events, but a whole year-round connected cycle of festivals. The year begins with January Christmas musical evenings; in the spring festivals are held in honor of three composers, favorites of the Pskovites. This is, firstly, B.S. Troyanovsky, a native of the Pskov province, virtuoso balalaika player and founder of the future Orchestra of Folk Instruments N.P. Osipova. Secondly - M.P. Mussorgsky, the great Russian composer, also the son of the Pskov land (on the territory of the region you can see his museum-estate). And, of course, N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, whose first opera was the world-famous "The Woman of Pskov". And the year ends with the international festival "Day of Gusli", where, in addition to the guslars themselves, performers on other stringed folk instruments perform.

Pskov Regional Philharmonic today

The palette of musical directions of the Pskov regional philharmonic society is rather diverse. The classical direction is represented, first of all, by the Pskov Symphony Orchestra. Today, its conductor is Eduard Banko, and, in addition to the main cast, Russian and foreign celebrities regularly perform with the orchestra. The orchestra's repertoire includes both classical works by S. Prokofiev, L. Beethoven, G. Verdi, J. Bizet, G. Puccini, V. Mozart, of course, N. Rimsky-Korsakov and M. Mussorgsky, as well as the works of contemporary Pskov composers. The orchestra also gives concerts for, in 2012 even a whole cycle "Tales with the Orchestra" was launched.

The bright star of the Pskov Philharmonic, nicknamed the "living legend" - "The Pskov Russian Music Ensemble." In addition to the classical instruments for folk ensembles, its composition includes "ringing gusli", which gives the music a special, memorable sound. The ensemble performs Russian folk songs and old romances, as well as arrangements of the best examples of modern pop music. The collective is literally snapped up not only in its native region, but also far beyond its borders, regularly performing throughout Russia, in, and even in China.

In addition, musicians from the so-called "Classics" group perform on the stage of the Philharmonic: the guslirok duet "Maiden Fun", Sergei Popkov, who created the Pskov "theater of one actor", the accordion quartet, and some others.

And of course, this is where the performances of the performers who have come on tour take place. Going to Pskov, it is worth studying the poster on the official website of the Pskov Regional Philharmonic perhaps you will find a chance to experience something new in the world of music.

Alexey Arkhipovsky - balalaika virtuoso

For the first time the program "Miracle" on the Pskov stage.

Balalaika Aleksey Arkhipovsky is one of the few musicians who manage to combine work in the traditional "folk" way with the development of their own way, often much brighter and more original. Brilliant successes just outside the traditional folklore field, however, do not become a reason for the musician to abandon tradition. Alexey, who can rightfully be called the best balalaika player in the country, pays equal attention both to his work in the leading folk ensembles of Russia and to his own projects, in which his undeservedly unpopular instrument is fully revealed and makes the most “uncomfortable” audience applaud.

Balalaika ... Mastering it, he proved that there are no "secondary" instruments. There are two on the stage: the Master and his instrument.
