This is a MONO performance by Maxim Averin. Someone's performances by one actor seem boring, watching 2 hours per person can get bored. But this is not our story. Yes, there is only one actor here. But he easily replaces the whole troupe. With his frantic energy, his incredible charm, irrepressible temperament, his charisma, his immense talent. So he ran onto the stage, smiled his irresistible smile, and everything ... you are in his power. From the top of the head to the tips of the nails.
The first time I saw this one-man show was in 2011, when my colleagues and I invited Maxim to stage him in our Kolomna near Moscow. The performance at that time was still practically a "baby" and was called "Sincerely, without cuts". Then I had the good fortune to watch Maxim rehearse. Yes, yes, before the performance, he rehearsed everything from "A" to "Z", very meticulously. There was one funny moment during that rehearsal. Maxim probably does not remember him, but this is a real anecdote from life! At the rehearsal in the hall, a little man somehow turned out to be - such a puny one, by everything it is clear that he loves to paw the collar for a long time and in large quantities (as it turned out, it was the husband of the cleaning lady). He looked, looked, and then raised his hand, like a student in a lesson and timidly shouted: "Maxim, can I ask?" Another actor in this situation would have exploded and demanded to take the unlucky spectator out of the hall, but not Maxim, he treats the fans too carefully and carefully. “Yes, ask,” Averin allowed. "Do you really work in the police?" And at that time, it should be noted, "Capercaillie" thundered all over the country. I crawled out of the chair with laughter, and Maxim, as if nothing had happened, with an absolutely imperturbable look, replied: "Yes, of course, we are there, in the police, we read poetry and sing songs." To which the little man cried out joyfully: “I knew it, I told everyone, but no one believed me,” after which, happy and contented, he allowed his wife to take him out of the hall.

There is everything here: brilliant poetry (as my 14-year-old daughter said: "Maxim chose worthy poetry"), songs, funny and sad, and even damn incendiary dances! There are laughter and tears. There is so much mixed in here, so many colors!
I am not afraid to call Averin in some sense my teacher. After all, he opened many poets to me, a philologist by education, in a new way. V student years the wind still walks in my head, not everything can reach the heart and mind. Yes, I loved the poet David Samoilov, and thanks to Maxim, I am now reading to them. Yes, I liked Rozhdestvensky, and now, thanks to Averin, I adore him. I did not accept Mayakovsky, and now much in his poetry is close to me, and again thanks to Maxim for this. From Vertinsky, to my shame I knew very little - I read it, listened it again, felt it, fell in love, and again it could not do without Averin.
God, how he reads poetry! Even those who have never held a collection of poetry in their hands cannot help but fall in love with poetry. Vysotsky, Brodsky, Mayakovsky, Samoilov, Vertinsky, Kochetkov ... HOW does he read? Grandiose, amazing, exciting ... but no epithet can convey HOW he does it. Here he reads, and you forget to breathe. And David Samoilov's Death of Tsyganov? It's just outright. The whole hall is sobbing. Sobs silently. Not a single superfluous sound, only Averin's voice to break the soul. It is impossible to describe all emotions, it must be seen and heard.
Maybe someone imagines it this way: well, an artist stood at the microphone, well, recites beautiful poems, chantingly, pathetically ... so what's supernatural? Oh, what a delusion this is. Here every poem, every song - little performance.
By the way, but I was wrong, Averin is not alone on stage. He has two loyal partners. This is Sound and Light. And they are not playing here at all secondary role... Incredibly talented musical and light scores create special atmosphere in the hall, working in unison with the Artist.
2 hours fly by like 5 minutes. Averin is so light, so breathtakingly sexy, dazzlingly charming, and so deep, real, sincere ... He flies around the stage, well, just Figaro is here, Figaro is there. Here he reads Vertinsky:

And in a moment he is already poisoning jokes and you laugh, and again tears, only from laughter. And again a song - an incredibly beautiful romance " Garnet bracelet”, And again something happens in the heart that cannot be explained in words. But he flutters around the hall, giving flowers to the audience, and applause ... applause ... applause ...
And in the finale - "The Ballad of a Smoky Car":
“Don't part with your loved ones.
Grow in them with all your blood ... "- a lump in the throat ... and goosebumps all over the body, and tears cannot be hidden again. And you are bursting with happiness that you see and hear IT!
Returning home at night after the performance, I already know for sure that insomnia awaits me. But not painful, weary, but pleasant, because I will reread Samoilov, or Vertinsky, and possibly Brodsky, and I will remember, remember, remember and relive what I saw again and again.
And also, my dear friend Maxim Averin, I want to say thank you for the memory of the endlessly beloved Lyudmila Markovna Gurchenko. She is a whole Planet, immense, inexplicable, incredible! I am sure that in those minutes when you talk about her in the play, when you perform your general number, she smiles at you from heaven.
This performance will live for a very, very long time, and will constantly change. Because Averin is restless and will never stand still and be content with what is already beautiful and talented. You're right. If I am not interested in something, I will not do it simply.

- What about responsibility?

No, well, it happens, I'm wrong, of course. For example, I agree to star in a movie, I think: oh, how interesting, oh, great! And then in the process I understand: well, there is nothing. Of course, I will not let people down, but I will not stay in such a project for a long time. This is better for people, by the way. Because you can play for six months - and the role is never done. Why am I where, as they say, I am not needed? For what? It's not fair.

Judging by your employment, you are choosing the right projects. But with such loads, fatigue can sometimes prevail over love. Where do you get your optimism, then?

I'll tell you a banality: everything is very simple. You have to love life. Yes, this is commonplace, but it works! Sometimes it’s hard to love life, yes, but it’s also work. Such a hard work. Work on yourself. How did we want? Why do we think that we can still spend such a short life, as Tarkovsky said, a baby-life on a bad mood, whining, dishonest people, uninteresting projects? Probably, this is age, because over the years I felt sorry for this time. I realized: well, I'll be in bad mood- will something change? So everything always depends on love of life - on the ability to love, on the desire to live and overcome. This is work. But this, you see, is more interesting.

You say in the play that only love should be shared. But this is not always real. For example, you - successful artist, for sure many envy you. How to respond to this with love?

And you can not pay attention! I will explain to you: firstly, if a person is jealous, then he is stupid, why else be angry or worried about him? Envy is a big stupidity in itself, you do not know what a person went through and did for this success. And to some extent, you need to feel sorry for people. It seems to me that it hurts them to live. It's not easy to stand up like this and say in a nasty voice (imitates): "Now I envy you!" - this is a colossal inner work that happens to a person, since he drives himself like that. So you need to forgive, not get angry.

- Okay, then, about overcoming. Are you worried before going on stage?

Yesterday they played the first performance in Tbilisi - and already in the morning there was a nerve. Everything went well, I hope. But today is a new day - and new spectators, and even more nerves, because yesterday I coped, and already back into battle. I'm never sure before going on stage. In the theater, you cannot be sure that everything will go well. This is his art. A movie has been filmed - and it will forever remain the same as it was recorded. And in the theater there is no such thing. As I say in my performance: "Everything is here and now." This is the magic of theater, and it is exciting. And here, in Tbilisi, I perform on the stage of the Rustaveli Theater - and for me it’s like taking an exam. I have loved Shota Rustaveli's theater for over twenty years.

I know that on this visit you attended Robert Sturua's rehearsals.

Yes, I admire the master. By the way he sees our time, how he feels it - like a doctor, you know. This is called a provocation. Thanks to filming a medical series, I know for sure (laughs): doctors sometimes make a provocation in order to pull out, cure a disease - and here Sturua does it. Sturua provokes - and in his performances we see what our society is “sick” with. He clearly understands this time.

- And imagine, he would offer you a role. What image would you dream of?

You call this performance "revelation." Meanwhile, here you are not married, and you are not frank about your personal life at all. And people are all the more interesting - it's not for nothing that in interviews you so often try to find out this topic. Not annoying?

No. You see, what's the matter: if a person gets into my personal life, I look at him like this: what does he think? I'm not in confession! Naturally, I won't go into details, because that's none of his business! (laughs) But seriously, this is my territory. For some reason, sometimes journalists think that we, artists, are in their confession and must tell everything. But if I see a person for the first time? We are not so close that I start: I’ll tell you everything now, I’ll tell you everything, God, what I had in my life ... (sighs and smiles) This is wrong. Personal is very dear to me. And that which is expensive cannot be squandered.

Is this how Paul McCartney did it? He said: “Everything I want to tell you is in my songs. If I want to say something else, I will write another song. " It's the same with a solo performance - here it is, my personal. That is why I am engaged in this profession, I love it, that is why I am happy in it.

- There was no desire to leave even once?

Anything happened. But such that there was a desire to betray the profession - no, it was not.

- Betray?

Yes, this verb, because I love acting. I'm happy in it. I couldn't have been without him. There were moments of despair, but I did not give up. I had no idea to leave the race. I thought that any artist goes through this stage. Yes, someone immediately gets to work, to the director-master, it becomes interesting ... Someone. But not all. Many have to wait.

- Would you advise young artists to learn how to wait?

By the way, as in psychology they do: they name a word and ask for an instant association. Is this your association with Georgia?

Garnet. In my opinion, the pomegranate is one of those fruits that have collected many grains, and each one is juicy. And here, in Georgia, everything is united for me - blood, strength, power, and beauty.

A record number of Russian tourists come to Georgia this year. And you are an experienced traveler, share your experience with them - tell us how you are here?

In general, if there is an opportunity, I like to come before the performance in advance, to see the city, the country. I have already been to Mtskheta and Kakheti, of course, I took a walk in Tbilisi. And you know, I can't say which I liked better. For me, these expressions are from the category: "Whom do you love more - mom or dad?" And in Georgia it is generally meaningless. I see beauty everywhere here, that which revives me, gives me strength, energy - and I can simply admire, say what impressed me.

So I was shocked by the Sukhishvili ensemble. Their performance is sheer delight. Is it possible to compare the beauty of the monasteries of Mtskheta and the dance of Sukhishvili? Here you are simply glad that it was given to you to see it. And the food? Georgians don't have cuisine, but gastronomic madness!

By the way, all your friends admire your cooking skills. Many stars, visiting Georgia, attend culinary master classes. You, with your love for the kitchen, did not go to them?

Yes, I knew how to cook Georgian dishes (laughs). I can cook satsivi, lobio ... And I'm not one of those people who go to master classes. I have such a schedule here, I did not even have time to visit those whom I promised to be, unfortunately. And in general, I feel so good here that I don't need culinary seminars (smiles).

- After the performances, will your trip to Georgia continue?

Yes, I'm going to Batumi. The sea is just important for me. It is an energetic point for me, I can look at it for hours. I love loneliness and the sea. And travel in general. it best rest- and in any manifestation the road is interesting to me.
