How to determine the right hand size for gloves
With the onset of cold weather, almost every modern person uses gloves. They help protect his hands from frost and strong winds. In addition, they are a stylish accessory that complements the image of the owner. That is, gloves, like shoes, a scarf, a hat or other clothes, help to diversify the image. However, it is worth considering: in order for the gloves to look perfect on your hands and be comfortable, you need to correctly select their size and style.
At the same time, you need to understand that narrow models will limit the movement of your fingers, while large ones, on the contrary, can fly off your hands with a sharp wave. Therefore, in order to choose the right size for such a thing as gloves, you must first familiarize yourself with the existing sizes and how to determine them.
To find the right size gloves, you need to measure your hand. Measurements should be taken on the writing hand, as it is the leading one and will be slightly larger than the second hand.
Also, when measuring, it must be taken into account that the measuring tape has an inch scale on one side, and a centimeter scale on the other. But since the marking of gloves is often carried out in centimeters or millimeters, it is necessary to make measurements using the centimeter scale.
To determine the size, first of all, you need to measure the circumference of the palm at the widest part.
To get the most accurate parameters, the measurement must be carried out in the following sequence:
- Position your hand correctly. To do this, straighten your fingers and raise your hand up.
- Wrap the widest part of the palm (below the little finger) with braid. In this case, the tape should not be stretched.
- In order not to forget, write down the resulting figure on paper.
Usually the size of the girth of the palm in an adult varies from 20 to 25 centimeters, and in children - up to 15 centimeters. At the same time, manufacturers produce gloves of established standards:
- women's - from the sixteenth to the thirtieth size;
- men's - from the twentieth to thirty-two sizes.
Also, many specialists carry out individual orders of non-standard sizes (from 32 to 38 sizes).
As for children, there is no single standard for them either, and therefore measurements and selection of the right thing are done in the same way.
There is another option for calculating the appropriate size of gloves - measuring the length of the hand. Typically, such measurements are taken by people who have a non-standard brush width or length.
To carry out such a procedure, you need:
- Spread the fingers of one hand.
- Then raise your palm up.
- Attach one end of the measuring tape to the top of the middle finger.
- Measure the distance to the base of the brush.
The difference between men's and women's gloves
In this case, the main parameter is the girth of the brush. Since in men this part of the body is much larger in size than in women.
In addition, the fingers of men are much wider than those of women.
In this regard, the smallest size of men's gloves is marked with a number that corresponds to the largest size of women's gloves.
Numerical and letter designation of quantities
Digital marking (European type) of products for hands is determined depending on the girth of the hand and has the following form:
- 16 cm - the sixth size of gloves;
- 18cm corresponds to size 6.5;
- for 19 cm, you should choose a wardrobe item of the seventh size;
- at 20 cm, you need to select products with a size of 7.5;
- people with a palm circumference of 22 cm will fit the eighth number of gloves;
- 23 cm corresponds to the European value of 8.5;
- 24 cm - the ninth number;
- 26 cm corresponds to size 9.5;
- 27 cm is marked as the tenth number.
Letter marking (American type) is used throughout the world. It indicates the size of any type of clothing. This marking is very convenient, since the size of the clothes is classified by the first letter of the word (in English) that defines this size. When choosing a wardrobe, do not forget that the letter designation of women's things is different from the designation of men's.
Women's gloves are characterized by the following marking, which is determined depending on the girth of the palm:
Men's products have the following designations:
- From 16.5 to 17.5 cm is classified as XXS (extra extra small), that is, the smallest value.
- For a girth of 18 cm, size XS (extra small) is suitable, which means “very small” in Russian.
- From 18.5 to 21.5 cm, the designation S (small) is typical.
- Average parameters vary from 22 to 23.5 cm and are marked M (medium).
- If the parameters of the male brush are from 24 to 26 cm, then they should choose products with the designation L (large).
- The largest size is designated XL (extra large), suitable for owners with a palm circumference of 27 cm.
Choice of children's gloves
When buying gloves for children, first of all, you need to decide on their size. To do this, you need to follow the same steps as when buying adult products. In addition, you should pay attention to the following recommendations of experts:
- The style of this item should match the image of the child.
- Do not order gloves online, as the sizes may not match the indicated markings.
- You should not purchase too narrow models, as they will freeze your fingers very much.
- Wearing gloves that are too big will be uncomfortable for the child. In addition, they can easily slip off your hand and get lost.
- It is best to choose gloves made from natural material, as it is stronger and more durable.
