Synthetic polyester fabric - what is it?
And natural. Chemical fabrics, in turn, are divided into synthetic and artificial. Polyester (fabric) - what is it? The answer is simple - it is a material of synthetic origin.
For the first time, chemical fiber began to be used in France at the end of the nineteenth century, more precisely in 1890. Its production in the United States of America was put on a commercial basis. By a complex chemical process, polyester is produced mainly from petroleum. From polyethylene terephthalate obtained from melts, fabric is produced as a result of a chemical reaction. In appearance, it is very similar to wool or cotton.
Fabric description
Polyester (fabric) - what is it, how does it differ from all synthetic ones? It is highly functional, wear-resistant and durable, stain-resistant. Polyester (fabric) - what is it from a medical point of view? In terms of its hygienic properties, polyester fabric is superior to capron and nylon, but is significantly inferior to natural materials - cotton, linen, wool.
Therefore, to a greater extent, outerwear, as well as sports and children's clothes, are sewn from polyester. Clothing made from polyester has a number of properties - it practically does not wrinkle and dries quickly. It retains its original shape for a long time, it is perfectly washable, the fabric is light, breathable, waterproof. It does not require any special care, it is not affected by moths and it does not fade in the light. When heated, it fixes the shape well; pleated skirts are excellently obtained from this fabric. and polyester draperies look great on windows in an apartment or office.
What is polyester combined with?
Polyester is a fabric that is not always used in its pure form, it is added to wool, cotton and linen for the production of sweaters, men's shirts and suits. When added to it acquires warm properties. At the same time, it significantly exceeds ordinary wool in terms of strength and wear resistance.
Polyester (fabric) - stretches or not?
A very big advantage of the polyester material is that it does not stretch and does not shrink. In combination with polyamide fibers, microfiber, polyester knitwear was obtained. Thanks to the new property, the products are elastic and stretch well. From it they launched the production of stockings, tights, swimwear.
How to care for polyester products
Polyester (fabric) - what is it and how to care for it? Wash in warm water no higher than 40 degrees with powders for synthetics, in the gentle wash mode; wash with light clothes; can be in cold water.
Do not use bleaching agents. Iron with a warm iron, in the minimum mode (it is better not to iron at all, light bends may form that cannot be removed).
Polyester (fabric) also has negative properties. So, it accumulates has a slight hygroscopicity. It is not recommended to wear underwear made of this fabric, it does not react well to sweat and must be washed immediately after the first wear. In addition, in the summer it is hot in this linen, and in the winter it does not warm at all. But cotton with the addition of 10-20% polyester is a completely different matter, the linen does not wrinkle, it becomes comfortable, pleasant.
