Isosoft insulation: what is it, advantages and disadvantages

Modern isosoft insulation is an innovative product that differs from its predecessors in lightness and high heat-insulating ability. Produced in several modifications. The material is used for the manufacture of ordinary clothes, sports and special clothes, shoes, sleeping bags, clothes for extreme climatic conditions. We'll talk about what is isosoft insulation.

What is isosoft made of

The insulation was invented and introduced into their own production by the specialists of the company Libeltex, which has been manufacturing non-woven fabrics for filters for more than half a century. After merging with the British Vita Group, a company specializing in the production of polymer fibers, Libeltex launched the production of filter cloths from thermally bonded fibrous components for sensitive self-healing filters. The logical continuation of the developments was the creation of isosoft insulation, the composition and structure of which are patented.

It is known that the material is made of fine-denie hollow fibers. These are products with high metric numbers. The number in the characteristic of the fiber characterizes its fineness. The number is obtained by dividing the length by the mass. Usually the numbers indicate the length of the fiber or thread weighing 1 g. Thin fibrous products are characterized by large numbers.

The basis of the hollow structures is a polyester polymer. In some modifications, the fibers are additionally siliconized. At the same time, hollow highly crowded fibrous structures made of polyester are additionally coated with organosilicon polymers to improve heat-insulating properties. The degree of twisting may be so great that the fibers form balls. These types of insulation are especially good in the production of bedding: blankets, pillows, sleeping bags. The springy structure helps to fit the body during sleep. Products acquire a form that is comfortable for a person.

Types of insulation for general use from Belgian manufacturers

The company produces 3 main types of insulation for a wide range of applications.

• Isosoft 103 is made from the thinnest fibers thermally bonded to each other. Plastic, soft material with double-sided polymer treatment has a density in the range from 25 g/m 2 to 200 g/m 2 (indicated in the articles). The thickness of the insulation is within the range from 3 mm to 25 mm. Products with such insulation are subject to quilting.

1. Material with a density of 20 g / m 2 to 80 g / m 2 is suitable for spring and autumn clothing. The air temperature should not be below 0°C.
2. Heaters with a density of up to 150 g/m 2 are designed for frosts down to 10°C.
3. Material with a density index up to 180 g/m 2 is suitable for temperatures down to minus 15°C.
4. If the specified density of the insulation is 200-300 g/m 2 , clothing can be worn at minus 30°C.

In the isosoft 103 line, the maximum density value is 200 g / m 2. Therefore, from the group of this marking, only a heater with a maximum density is suitable for severe frosts.

• Isosoft 34 is made of siliconized hollow polyester fibers, thermally bonded. The material thickness of this marking ranges from 4 mm to 15 mm. The insulation is additionally treated with polymers on both sides. Density range - from 40 g/m 2 to 200 g/m 2 . In products with a density of insulation up to 100 g / m 2, it is not necessary to quilt it.
• Isosoft 304 consists of siliconized polyester fibers, which are thermally bonded and polymer crosslinked. The density range is from 40 g/m 2 to 250 g/m 2 . The thickness of the canvas has values ​​​​from 6 mm to 22 mm. The insulation can be freely located in long and short jackets, trousers. In a coat, it is subject to mandatory quilting.

Special heaters from Belgian manufacturers

To fill sleeping bags, a special material is made - isosoft 101. The degree of twisting of the fibers is so great that they curl up into spirals. Coils of spirals form spherical structures that perfectly fill the space, absorb physical stress from the body of a sleeping person, and take a comfortable shape.

The company produces several other types of specialty products. They have a different composition of fibers, they do not belong to isosofts.

Advantages of isosoft heaters

• All products undergo rigorous testing, as a result of which compliance with the European quality standard Oeko-Tex 100 class 1 is regularly confirmed. Comparison of requirements, additional checks established full compliance of products with Russian GOST, international quality standards EN ISO 14116:2008.
• The company has established traditions in the production of filters, which eliminates the presence of impurities in the material. These approaches have been developed in technologies for obtaining heaters. • Some sources, characterizing isosoft, describe the effect of a thermos created by this material as an advantage. It's good that this is not true. Thermos means absolute tightness. The material "breathes" due to the presence of specific pores.
• Isosoft does not require complex special care. Easily washable by machine or by hand. Water temperature should be moderate, laundry detergents should be soft. There is no need to apply strict conditions. The material cleans effectively and dries quickly. Products can be stored by compact folding. They easily reshape.
