Variants of paintings winter evening. Painting "Winter Evening" by Krymov: description, essay on the painting

How long has it been since you looked at the painting? Specifically, a drawing made with a brush and paints? Painting " Winter evening» by landscape artist Nikolai Petrovich Krymov - a seemingly simple thing with a simple plot. But it makes you think.

And how surprised and amazed you are at the smallest details of the paintings! How I want to look at them and try to understand the mood of the artist and his thoughts at the time of painting!

Nikolay Krymov

Perhaps not as popular as Vasnetsov or Malevich. But his contribution to art is difficult to overestimate. Born into the family of the artist P. A. Krymov in 1884, the boy acquired drawing skills already in childhood. The father happily showed his son the basic techniques of painting and talked about composition, color and lighting. All this affected Nikolai’s worldview and his life aspirations.

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” is the clearest illustration of his ideas about fine arts. While studying in the landscape workshop of A. M. Vasnetsov at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, the young artist tried his hand at different directions: both as a designer, and as a graphic artist, and later as a set designer. But literally from the first brush strokes, he joined symbolism, believing that the painting should convey the mood with its color scheme.

Simple landscape

This is exactly how - simply - N.P. Krymov wrote. The painting “Winter Evening” is a landscape of a village outskirts. Several buildings, a church dome and a couple of sleighs with firewood - that’s almost the whole picture. Of course, there are trees, birds on the bushes, and people going about their business. But all this is not drawn in detail, not highlighted in bright colors.

And at the same time, one glance is enough to understand that there is severe frost outside. And it's already dusk. This is the time of day when the windows still let in. When you sit in the hut, it seems that it is not so cold outside. He's so warm and cozy sunlight.

Russian Winter

The painting “Winter Evening” is snow. Looking at it, you get the feeling that it was important for the artist to show the omnipresence of snow. After all, this is one of the main winter events. Snow lies everywhere: the roofs of houses are dusted with it, the ground is densely covered, bushes are hidden under it, which are depicted in foreground.

It shimmers in the rays of the setting sun, and the shadows cast by the heaps of the paths clearly indicate the height of the snowdrifts. It immediately becomes clear that winter did not come yesterday; it has long since come into its own.

And even the muted color does not prevent one from recognizing the beauty of a snowy Russian winter. The sun disappearing behind the horizon changed the bright daytime shine of the snow to a bluish glare. But even this shade conveys the fluffiness of the snow cover. And in those places where there is still Sun rays ki, we see a transparent pink snowball that you want to pick up.

Homecoming

What else did Krymov manage to convey to the viewer? The painting “Winter Evening,” the description of which occupies us today, is not overloaded with objects. And yet, in the center we see people returning. We don’t know what drove them out onto the street on a winter day, but the fact that they are moving towards warmth and home sets us up for cozy memories of winter evenings.

Taking a closer look at how a family with a child moves, we understand that the paths have been trodden for a long time. They are quite wide so that you can separate from oncoming passers-by. This means that people are accustomed to such difficult conditions and have learned to withstand them.

Also, haystacks and sleighs are brought home. Pets appear before your eyes, which will be fed in a couple of minutes. From this uniform life, you somehow calm down and understand that no adversity in life (like this high snow) can change the inevitable course of things. The painting “Winter Evening” is quite suitable for meditation and relaxation. Soft colors and plenty of room for thought. All that remains is to turn on leisurely music.

Fuzzy images

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” shows us people as not depicted. The description of warm clothes fully justifies this, because fur coats, felt boots, warm scarves and hats leave no room for sophistication and grace. The figures of people generally look more like specks of paint, but this is the artist’s talent, to convey not only the intended image, but also its mood, like this, without details and clear brush strokes.

N. Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” glows with warmth and comfort. Looking at how the human figures are slightly tilted forward, you understand that people are hurrying into the warmth of the hut. And looking at their heavy clothes, you just feel how difficult it is to walk in the snow. Albeit along well-trodden paths.

In the same way, indistinctly, the figures of birds are indicated in the foreground. They didn’t hide under the cold weather, they sat down right in the snow. But they fluffed up their feathers and became ruffled - they conserved their strength, and this made them look more like lumps of something alive than like fluttering light birds.

village

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” (describing it is our task today) shows a village. One gets the impression that this is a small cluster of several houses. It’s not even the outskirts of the village, because massive trees rise behind the houses.

Of course, the artist is well versed in proportions, he has a developed sense of proportion. But take a closer look at how he arranged the objects in the picture: even in the background, the houses are many times larger than the people, as if denoting their solidity and significance. And at the same time we understand how small they really are. It is enough to compare trees and huts.

You can’t help but wonder what the painting “Winter Evening” symbolizes. Krymov, after all, professed symbolism in his work. And so, looking at the cluster of huts located in the middle of the snowy expanses, you understand that only proximity to each other will make us warmer and kinder, and our world more comfortable. After all, even in proverbs we find indications of this: in cramped conditions, but not in offence, for example.

And the fact that everyone - both people and sleighs with hay - are heading towards the houses is also of great importance. Only in home we will receive the desired warmth and peace. And the bell tower, located in the distance, is a symbol of hope for goodness and a bright future.

Forest

A forest is depicted in the background of the canvas. Now it is completely unclear what kind of trees grow in this area - oaks, poplars, lindens... Only one thing is clear: such a landscape is typical for central Russia. After all, such tall trees do not grow in the north, and in the tundra or taiga there is not so much empty space.

And again you can’t help but think about what Krymov is telling us. The painting “Winter Evening,” the description of which reveals the meaning of each symbol, conveys human security. The endless snowy expanses turn into warm and well-built (albeit poor) houses. And the huts are protected from winds and blizzards by centuries-old trees.

Taking a closer look, we will see the desire for life conveyed by the artist. The moss and small shrubs in the foreground symbolize this perfectly. They make their way even through so much snow to reach the winter sun.

Sunset

N. Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” is a completely accurate representation of color nuances. Look at the sky. You can immediately see that it is low, winter-heavy, but clean and transparent from the frost.

The greenish color of the sunset sky is somewhat unusual for our eyes. But this is a very accurately noticed feature of the late afternoon. From the several shimmers of pink in the snow and sky, as well as from the reflection of sunlight in the hut window, it becomes clear that the sunset will be pink and calm.

And a clear, cloudless sky does not foretell any trouble or surprise. Again, from one glance at the picture, you feel calm and understand: everything is going as usual.

Color spectrum

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” is another confirmation of the artist’s skill and professionalism. He skillfully uses a palette of colors to convey all the shades of trees, sky, snow...

After all, what do we usually see when we go outside in winter? Black silhouettes of trees yes White snow. But it’s not like that! The shadows of people are dark blue, the roofs of houses are covered with the purest white snow, and the transitions of blue and pink tones in the foreground of the picture accurately convey the illumination and the pre-sunset time.

And here’s what’s surprising: it would seem that the painting “Winter Evening” should convey cold and gloom. But in fact, when you look at her, you feel warm and cozy. This effect is also created by the color scheme. Black trees are actually dark brown. Warm pink reflections run across the cold snow. The dome of the bell tower almost shines with yellow light.

And a few more words about the author

Sometimes, looking at such landscapes, you involuntarily think: why does such a simple picture as “Winter Evening” (its description can consist of just a few phrases) make you stop and literally freeze in front of it? And it’s not about peace, not about the winter view familiar to every person.

Most likely, we need to say that the artist added a touch of life to the landscape: walking people, horse-drawn sleighs. This gives the picture dynamics; it becomes an illustration for any poem glorifying the Russian winter.

Many believe that Krymov is lucky: a rare artist has the honor of being represented in Tretyakov Gallery in life. But this is also a huge amount of work on oneself, the development of talent and the desire to show the world the simple and majestic beauty of the nature that surrounds us.

Cool! 9

The essay presents an analysis of Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening”: the main plans are described, brief analysis the artist's use of color, the writer's opinion is expressed.

Nikolai Petrovich Krymov is a Russian painter. Most of his paintings depict deserted nature, which looks very poetic.

One of these paintings lies in front of me. It is called "Winter Evening". It depicts a village outskirts. Less than a dozen wooden buildings, a visible church dome and two sleighs with firewood are all that make up the picture. Looking at it, a feeling of peace and warmth is born in the soul of the beholder, although winter is shown on the canvas.

In the foreground of the work, Krymov showed an ice-bound river. The water is clean and clear. Off the coast, islands of shallow water look out from under the ice. Bushes grow on the shore. Dark birds sat at the edge of the ice and on the branches of a bush. Surely, the author painted while standing on the opposite bank, which is much higher than the river, since the artist’s gaze is directed from top to bottom.

In the background of the painting, the artist presented a small winter village. Behind it are oaks and poplars. The forest stands out in contrast against the background of white snow and bright sky. The author decided to depict the skies in greenish-yellow tones. You can feel the evening approaching. There is not a single cloud in the sky. It seems that you look at a picture and hear a ringing silence.

A huge snow field spreads in front of the houses. Krymov brilliantly uses the color palette to convey the shades of snow: from the bluish-black shadows falling from the houses to the snow-white covers of the roofs. But the main color of the snow is still soft blue, since the coming evening gives the snow a soft blue color.

The main object of work is a village of five houses. Sunlight is refracted through the windows of the person standing in the center. The dome of the bell tower is visible behind the residential buildings. The first of the houses has a barn built. A couple of carts with hay are quietly driving towards him. Four people walk towards the houses along a narrow trodden path. The figures are barely distinguishable. But judging by the size, posture and clothing, one can assume that a family with a child is wandering ahead. A little behind, a woman decided to stop to admire the beauty surrounding nature, which is simply impossible to pass by on such a warm winter day.

I liked this painting by Krymov. Peace and tranquility reign on the canvas. I don't like winter because of the freezing snowstorms and ice. But acquaintance with this picture made me change my mind. I realized that Russian winter can be mild and sunny.

Even more essays on the topic: “Winter Evening”

In front of me is a painting by N. Krymov “Winter Evening”. I look at it, and everything depicted on it seems familiar to me. In most of the painting, the artist depicted snow. Fluffy, thick, snow lies everywhere: on the ground, on the roofs of houses, it almost hides small bushes and weeds in the foreground. It seems to me that it was important for N.P. Krymov to emphasize the abundance of snow, because snow is the main sign of the Russian winter. The artist depicted a winter evening in his painting. At sunset, the snowy expanse no longer shines, the colors are muted. The sun disappears behind the horizon, its last rays change the color of the snow. In the shade it is bluish, and you can clearly see how deep and lush it is. Where the sun's rays still reach, the snow looks pinkish. Paths trampled in the snow are noticeable from afar. Their depth shows us that winter has already come into its own; it had been snowing for quite some time before. In the central part of the canvas we see a picture familiar to village life: people return home, trying to get into their homes before dark. Along a narrow path, two adults are walking with a child to the village; a little behind, another person is moving in the same direction. On the road to the village, two horse-drawn sleighs are traveling, loaded with large haystacks; the horses are driven by a driver. The figures of people are not clearly drawn, they are small and almost shapeless, because people are dressed in winter clothes and are not located in the foreground. Black birds sit on the border of evening light and shadow. They probably don’t fly in such cold weather, they save their energy. I can well imagine their rare cries; in the winter silence they can be heard far away.

Nikolai Petrovich Krymov is a Russian landscape artist. He was fascinated by the discreet beauty of his native Russian nature. He especially loved snow, frost, and the calm majesty of winter. Although the painting is called “Winter Evening,” it is very bright, apparently the evening is just beginning. This is probably why the sky, which occupies most of the picture, is bright green. Agree, you rarely see a green sunset. And most of all there is snow in the picture. It looks like the winter is very snowy and the snowdrifts are high. It's amazing what colors the artist uses to depict white snow. This is gray, and blue, and light blue, and pure white on the roofs. These different colors convey the feeling of frost, coldness and purity of snow covering the entire earth.

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” is a landscape, but it not only depicts nature and beautiful view. This is a landscape with the presence of people, their homes, and therefore it exudes a special warmth. In the middle ground we see a thin path trodden in the snowdrifts, along which a line of people is walking. These are peasants who live in wooden huts nearby. Among the muffled figures one can also see children, to whom such a winter probably brings joy. There are several dark dots in the foreground; village children can also be seen in them - children are sledding down the hill. Soon it will get dark and their mothers will call them home.

On the left side of the picture, a dirt road crosses diagonally; two horse teams with haystacks are moving along it. The day is approaching evening and people need to finish their work before dark. The trees and houses look dark, almost black, but it is still not black, but a dark brown warm color. These houses are sure to be warm and cozy. On the slope you can see the dome of the church, this is a symbol of light, goodness, hope. It is clear that the artist painted the picture with great love.

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” depicts people slowly walking along a thin path home. They make their way through the snowdrifts, but it’s still a long way to go home. A little further away we see houses that are located at a decent distance from each other. They exude warmth and comfort, but this comfort still needs to be achieved. And in the distance you can see two carts transporting hay. Overall, the picture is kind and a little idealistic. Everyone just knows that winter has many faces. She can pat a traveler in a terrible snowstorm, and then reassure him with the mild rays of the winter sun.

The artist has chosen the optimal combination of colors, which shows that a winter evening can be beautiful. Crystal clear, white snow sparkles in the rays of the setting sun. And all this beauty is watched by an ideal, fantastic sky, which only happens to be like this special days. True, there are several dark spots in the picture - these are trees. They are clearly drawn with dark colors, since they have not yet received new outfits.

Krymov’s painting “Winter Evening” gave me a slight feeling of sadness at the passing of time, which cannot be stopped. Although the creator of this magic canvas he succeeded in the impossible - he forced time to obey him.

The famous Russian landscape artist Nikolai Petrovich Krymov created many magnificent paintings. I am familiar with some of this artist’s works of art, but most of all I sympathize with the landscape, which the author called with the seemingly familiar name “Winter Evening.” But the picture is not as ordinary as its name. It evokes a lot of emotions and impressions in me. Let's look at Krymov's canvas “Winter Evening”.

We see that the artist has painted a village. The season in the picture is winter. Looking at the canvas, I feel a sense of peace, restraint and peace. Most of the picture is occupied by snow, it feels frosty. But it still seems to me that the winter evening that day was warm.

In the foreground, the artist placed a river, which, under the onslaught of frost, had long been covered with thick ice. The river under the ice is clean and transparent. There are bushes growing near the river, near the shore. Birds settled at the edge of the ice. They're probably cold. It is possible that the artist painted his picture standing on the opposite bank of the river, on a small hill or hillock.

Let's look at the second plan of the canvas. We see settled on it wooden huts, behind which the forest grows. We cannot see the trees growing in it. Probably these are mighty oaks or poplars. The forest in the picture stands out as a dark spot. The contrast between it and the yellowish sky is clearly felt. It is noticeable that the winter turned out to be snowy, because the snowdrifts in front of the houses are high. But I don’t want to call snow drifts heavy, because the artist depicted the snow as airy, light and fluffy. This is also evidenced by the pale blue color used by the painter.

In one of the houses you can see a flickering light; on the left you can see the domes of a small bell tower. Villagers walk along the path to their houses.

The artist Krymov managed to convey in his painting “Winter Evening” not only the state of nature at this time of year, but also the village atmosphere. After getting acquainted with the picture, you also want to go to the village to breathe in the fresh frosty air, and in the evening after a walk, warm up by the warm stove.

The painting depicts a small village in winter. Most The painting is occupied by fluffy snow, it covered the entire earth and even settled on the roofs of houses. The palette of shades of snow color is very beautifully conveyed - ranging from dark blue to white. It seems that nature has fallen asleep until spring, wrapped in frost. Behind the village you can see a dense forest with mighty tall trees, standing out as a dark mass against the background of a yellowish-greenish sky. Among the tree branches, the dome of the church can be seen.

In the foreground of the picture you can see an ice-bound river. Along it there are small bushes on which birds have settled. Perhaps they are in search of food, or they are exhausted from the cold and are resting.

The sun is hiding behind the horizon, its last rays are changing color scheme snow. Evening is falling on the village. In the windows of wooden houses you can see the reflections of the setting sun, or maybe the light is already on. There are trodden paths leading to the village that are visible from afar. Judging by their snow depth, one can assume the full onset of winter.

In the central part of the canvas you can see people with a small child. They walk along a narrow, well-trodden path, perhaps in a hurry to get to the village before nightfall. Judging by their silhouettes, they are dressed warmly, and the snow creaks under their feet. One woman stopped, perhaps to admire the winter scenery. On the other hand, two sleighs drawn by horses with large shocks of hay are heading towards the village. The cab drivers walk alongside and drive the horses. There is a barn building adjacent to one of the courtyards, probably people carrying hay are heading towards it.

Despite the depiction of winter, the painting conveys feelings of warmth, calm and warmth. The picture well conveys the beauty of Russian nature in winter. Looking at the picture, you get a feeling of freshness from the frosty air.

The famous Russian landscape artist Nikolai Krymov has many beautiful landscapes in his work, among which the painting “Winter Evening” created by the author in 1919 stands out for its winter coloring. The painter depicts a small Russian village located in one of the Russian outbacks. As we see, it is covered with snow and there is not a single beaten road. Perhaps this is what gives it some kind of mythical appearance. Snow-covered expanse and an icy river, as if from some old Russian fairy tale. It seems that in a little while we will see Emelya going to the river to fetch water on the stove.

The winter days are short and the lights are already on in the windows, although the sun is not yet in a hurry to hide behind the horizon and its rays still illuminate the roofs of the houses, on which the silvery-white snow sparkles so brightly. But the artist depicts the snow, which is already in the shadows, in a whole range of shades from sky-azure to light purple.

In front of the viewer, in the foreground of the canvas, an icy river is displayed, on which islands of shallow water are visible, and bushes grow on the very shore. The ice on the river looks pale turquoise in almost horizontal sunlight.

Several crows sit on the shore like dark specks, ruffled. They carefully watch the movement of two carts loaded to the brim with hay. Birds hope to find dropped crumbs or a few grains on the road or near houses, because the winter turned out to be very snowy and cold.

Beyond the river, in the untouched snowdrifts, there is a narrow winding path along which the villagers hurry home before it gets completely dark to return home. Among the singing people you can distinguish several children who only enjoy the snowy winter. You can go sledding and skating, build a snow town, build a snowman, and you never know how many different winter activities have been invented in Rus'.

Cozy houses are located in groups. When we see this winter landscape, it seems to us that they are huddled together, as if trying to keep warm.

As you might guess, in this winter landscape the artist does not depict a village, since in Russia, villages were small in number and churches were not built in them. According to custom, parishioners gathered from surrounding villages to the nearest village. Here, too, in the distance you can see a small church with a bell tower, on the gilded dome of which the sunset rays are reflected.

The somewhat salad-sandy sky of this winter evening creates a soft contrast with the trees surrounding the village illuminated by the setting sun. And this entire winter landscape with small genre scenes shows the majesty and beauty of Russian nature. The canvas evokes peace and tranquility. And the combination of cold and warm tones on the snow cover and the pre-sunset sky creates the impression of extraordinary freshness and light frost. Such a sky can often be a harbinger of a bright purple sunset and folk signs foretells a strong wind the next day.

Krymov gives the snow fluffiness and airiness, which creates a special charm for the discreet beauty of Russian nature. We know very well that winters are different: there are snowstorms and severe frosts, and frequent thaws. The artist shows us a snowy but kind winter, choosing incredible combinations of shades to depict a beautiful winter evening.

Such a different combination of snow colors perfectly reveals that very Russian frosty winter to which every person is accustomed. This is the kind of snow that is expected every year; it is the snow that gives the world a simultaneous feeling of cold, freshness, cleanliness and a festive mood.

Krymov’s sky has a special color scheme – it is both light green and sandy in color, which surprisingly harmonize with each other. “Winter Evening” is a fairly harmonious landscape in which miraculously incompatible shades intertwined. Krymov handed over the trowels natural beauty, managed to organically connect them with way of life Russian village. This fragment is from the usual human life, become a “portrait” of both all of Russia and native land artist.

Description of the painting “Winter Evening” by N. Krymov

Every stroke of N. Krymov’s brush is the charm of the beauty of nature, skill family traditions painting and deep soulfulness. To say that the artist loved his land is to say nothing. He admired every moment spent there.

Krymov’s graphic images and theatrical decorations are something special for the art world. Recognized early, the master was that rare lucky person whose canvas adorned the Tretyakov Gallery during his studies. All the artist’s early and subsequent works breathe symbolism, which was greatly facilitated by the work of the designer of the Golden Fleece magazine. His landscapes are not a traditional depiction of nature, but a tapestry, so similar to the one woven by medieval ladies. Its colorful haze resembles a mirage, clothed in the form of Russian traditional objectivity and three-dimensionality of the image.

The painting “Winter Evening” is one of such works. The traditional landscape of central Russia is realism and symbolism at the same time. This is the very nature that is inextricably linked with people's lives. Krymov is one of the few who knew how to draw “portraits” of Russia in a modest form that was familiar to every viewer.

The foreground of the picture is occupied by a river covered with ice, along which there are small bushes with birds clinging to them. The sun, hidden behind the horizon, is the background, which affects the entire color scheme of the canvas. Small wooden houses reflect the light of the setting sun and glow with their own light. Winter is in full swing - this is indicated by the numerous paths that lead to the village.

The central part of the picture is occupied by the image of people who want to get home quickly. Warm clothes indicates a frosty season, which evokes sound associations in the viewer: it seems that the creaking of snow under shoes can already be heard. One of the women stops, either thinking about something, or to admire the beauty of the winter landscape. A sleigh is heading to the village, carrying hay for the horses. Their riders walk alongside, heading towards a barn in one of the courtyards.

In the painting “Winter Evening” there is no generally accepted concept of “landscape”, which implies natural views. Living people are included in the context, which gives the canvas dynamics and imbues it with life. The trace of man is in everything here: in the trodden path, in the houses, in the horses and figures, and even in the church in the background of the picture. Children who slide down the hill on a sled are the main “engine”, which, although written in several dots, says that winter life is not dull, but colorful and dynamic.

The left side of the picture is another moment of movement. The village, located diagonally, towards which carts with hay are moving, indicates that life is in full swing in it. The short winter day approaching evening seems to make people move faster. Coffee-colored wooden houses that exude warmth are a symbol of home comfort in Krymov’s canvas. A church on a slope with a dome glowing with golden light instills hope in people, gives harmony and completeness to the canvas.

Winter time in Krymov is measured and quiet. Nature, immersed in sleep and a carpet of white-blue snow, it would seem, should fill everything around with silence, but this does not happen. There is a human factor that creates a vibrant and at the same time harmonious life around itself.

Viewers can remember all the lines of Russian classics about winter, and each of them will reflect Krymov’s perception of a winter evening: it is unhurried, peaceful, measured and inevitable, and at the same time has special sound. His music immerses every person in the quiet hour of the evening, when the creaking of runners, the laughter of children and the muffled sounds of church bells are clearly audible.

The color scheme of the painting is somewhat unusual for depicting a winter evening. After all, Krymov gravitated towards symbolism, and these people were always looking for unusual ways images of the world. The greenish sunset makes the picture unusual, but at the same time emphasizes the softness of the descending twilight. Snow, painted by the artist, is a unique play of a whole range of shades - from the tone of heavenly azure to a light purple color scheme. These colors are located in ascending order from the lower left corner; they change the color of the snow, leaving it pristine white on the roofs. This transition is not accidental - it creates melodic and crunching sound effects.
