Donald Trump gave his first major post-election interview. This is what Trump said: how the US position on a number of pressing world problems will change after the elections

He won the presidential elections held on Tuesday, according to the results of the processing of the overwhelming majority of votes.

An eccentric billionaire, a non-systemic politician with no experience in elected office and a fighter against a "corrupt system" sensationally managed to defeat the Democratic candidate, former first lady and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.

Trump, whose probability of victory was estimated by most experts in the range from 0% to 35%, was able to pull off what is perhaps the most profitable and largest deal of his life - with American voters. It turned out that people preferred his "contract with the people of America" more than Clinton's promises to "preserve and enhance" the legacy of the incumbent President Barack Obama. Neither Trump's age (at 70 he became the oldest elected president), nor his billions (he became the richest head of state), nor the scandals surrounding politics confused the citizens of the United States. They believed that this particular president would "make America great again."

RIA Novosti presents the main stages of life and a portrait of the person who created, perhaps, the main political sensation in the history of the United States.

Frustrated military

"Workers' mutiny" and the failure of sociology: what experts think about the US electionsThe preliminary results of the US presidential election came as a surprise to experts. By winning the key states with the most electoral numbers, Republican Donald Trump wins the election.

Donald John Trump was born in New York in 1946 to real estate dealer Fred Trump, whose father moved to the United States from Germany. Trump later said more than once that he was proud of German ancestors, including his uncle Professor John Trump, who proved the presence of "smart genes" in their family.

The Trump family had five children, later one of his brothers died of alcoholism in adulthood, which discouraged Donald from touching alcohol and tobacco.

The boy's violent character manifested itself quite early. At the age of 13, his parents were forced to transfer him from school to the military academy in New York for educational purposes. However, a military career did not interest Trump - he chose to follow in his father's footsteps, graduating from the Department of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. Thanks to his studies, he was able to avoid being drafted into the army and at the same time being sent to the front in Vietnam.

Developer and negotiator

Donald began his real estate career with his father. However, almost immediately, show business fell into the sphere of interests of the young businessman: in 1970, he invested about 70 thousand dollars in a comedy production on Broadway, but not very successfully.

A year later, he took over his father's company and immediately renamed it the Trump Organization (previously called Elizabeth Trump and Son). Two years later, the company came to the attention of the Department of Justice, which saw signs of racial discrimination in providing apartments to African Americans. However, the scandal did not develop, since Trump was able to sign an agreement with the Justice Department, promising to continue to prevent violations.

The first project that made people talk about the young businessman was the construction of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan in 1980. A feature of the project was preferential tax conditions for a period of 40 years, which Trump was able to bargain with the city authorities. Thanks to this, he attracted additional investors.

The first successes were followed by new ones, such as the construction of Trump Tower in the heart of Manhattan. Experts again noted Trump's outstanding abilities, who managed to get a plot of land for development in a prestigious area. Soon, the business of the native of New York stepped outside the city and country.

The entrepreneur continued to expand the sphere of his commercial interests and began to implement projects for the construction of casinos, borrowing money for this. However, at the turn of the 1980s and 90s, Trump faced serious problems when his businesses and he himself were on the verge of bankruptcy. Part of the property had to be donated to pay off debts.

Experts told how the US policy in Asia will change under the new presidentClinton is currently ahead of Trump in public polls. But in some states, she began to yield positions against the background of the FBI investigation of her correspondence.

However, the businessman did not abandon the idea of making money on the construction of casinos and hotels, but in 1991-2009, a total of six of his establishments went bankrupt. This fact during the current election campaign was actively discussed by Trump's opponents, who saw in these bankruptcies proof of his bankruptcy, since usually "the casino always wins."

However, the businessman came out of many failures with minimal losses, contriving to negotiate with creditors and authorities on acceptable terms. Democrats in the current campaign have been desperately gargling Trump for the tax maneuver in the 1990s, when he managed to save impressive sums. The billionaire and his supporters replied that everything was done "brilliantly and according to the law."

As of 2016, Forbes magazine estimates Trump's fortune at $ 3.7 billion, making him the richest politician in the United States and 156th among all wealthy Americans. The businessman himself considers such an estimate to be underestimated and calls the amount of 10 billion. At the same time, analysts point out that after a series of scandals during Trump's election campaign, the value of his brand decreased by 13% (at various times, in addition to companies, the tallest skyscrapers of America were named after him, as well as a casino, an airline, a model agency, a vodka brand, a tabletop game and even steaks).

Showman and investor

It is worth noting that Trump showed interest not only in real estate. He was always attracted by show business, sports events, bright and interesting personalities. So, since the 1980s, a businessman has been investing in sports teams and shows. He became friends with boxer Mike Tyson and called for acquittal of him on charges of rape. The athlete later supported the billionaire during his election campaign. "All the tough guys support me and I love it!" - Trump said in this regard.

He also liked beautiful women: Trump's first and third spouses were models (Ivana from the Czech Republic, and Melanya from Slovenia). The businessman had his second marriage with the American actress Marla Maples.

In 1996, Trump made a new investment, buying the Miss Universe pageant, and in 1999 he founded a modeling agency. Relations with models and women in general backfired on the billionaire during the elections, although he was never prosecuted.

On Tuesday, November 8, Americans elect a president. More than 20 candidates are formally registered, but only representatives of the Democratic and Republican parties - Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump - have real chances. Preliminary results of voting - in the infographic site

Democrat and Republican

Trump's political predilections still baffle even a number of his supporters. In the late 1970s and 1980s, he supported Republicans and praised President Ronald Reagan. Some even considered running the entrepreneur as vice president in the 1988 election.

Trump's Secret

On the one hand, a populist approach, a confrontational style of polemics and a complete reluctance to play by the established rules have created many enemies and record unpopularity for Trump, including among party members. But on the other hand, the billionaire's absolute political incorrectness and his ability to mobilize the anger and irritation of voters brought him not only a nomination, but also a real chance to become the president of the United States.

The US political establishment, which is accustomed to beating rivals in its own field and according to its own rules, turned out to be absolutely helpless against Trump. Trump appeals to those who consider politics to be evil and politicians to be crooks. These are people dissatisfied with the current state of affairs. Rising wealth inequality and a lack of jobs for people with secondary education is eroding the American middle class. Many residents of former industrial centers are faced with a lack of income and prospects. In Trump, they see someone ready to thoroughly shake up the hated establishment in Washington and take decisive action.

Another component of success is the incredible charisma of the Republican nominee. On stage, Trump is a classic populist, using broad promises like "make America great again." He combines the techniques of a visiting hypnotist (his favorite phrase is "You can trust me!") With jokes from the repertoire of stand-up comedians. Trump even happily performs pantomimes, parodying the physical handicaps of opponents. He boasted at the debates of his intimate qualities and made crude hints of a physiological nature to the TV presenter (in fact, he would not mind discussing the sexuality of his daughter Ivanka).

Trump's lexicon is simple and understandable to most Americans (some, however, prefer to remove children from screens during his speeches). "Dishonest system", "losers", "weaklings", "failed policy", "reforms-disasters" - this is how he describes the state of affairs in the United States. In order to fix this, in his opinion, it is necessary to "drain the swamp" in Washington (change the government), "build a great wall" on the border with Mexico so that "illegal rapists" do not come from there, and also "get along" with Russia, together to "knock the hell out of the ISIS" (the Islamic State group is banned in the Russian Federation and a number of countries).

Trump gives offensive nicknames to his rivals: "Lying Ted", "Little Marco", "Rogue Hillary" and "Wicked Woman". And former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, he said, "sold his soul to the devil" by supporting Clinton. Journalists for Trump are the most "dishonest and corrupt people" because almost all of them are against him, the politician is convinced.

The ideas of confrontation and the fight against the "dishonest system" run like a red thread through Trump's proposals. In his opinion, there is a lot of "dishonest" in the world, and this must be eliminated - sometimes by negotiations, and sometimes by force. He brushes aside the criticism associated with this, stating that he can "get along" with all world leaders, because he is a businessman and is good at negotiating.

However, the businessman's pragmatism does not prevent Trump from believing that if the rules do not fit the requirements of the moment, they can be changed immediately, including unilaterally. "America comes first - always!" He explains.

Trump fans love his independence from the political establishment, the directness with which he denounces contemporary politicians, and radical solutions to long-standing problems. Someone trusts his experience as a business manager and his ability to "resolve issues", including with other countries. Some simply believe that America will "become great again" under Trump.

Even before taking office as President of the United States, Donald Trump said that he would start giving his first orders not on Friday (immediately after the inauguration), but on Monday, the first working day of the week. According to media estimates, during the presidential race, the Republican billionaire made 663 election promises, some of which he has already fulfilled over the past day. TASS studied which promises Trump kept and which he has yet to fulfill.

✔️ Exit TTP

One of the first Trump decrees was the withdrawal of the United States from the number of countries that had agreements on the creation of a new regional economic association - the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The TPP provides for the complete abolition of customs duties on goods and services in the Asia-Pacific region, which, according to Trump, is extremely disadvantageous for America. The future prospects of the TPP are very vague: the Australian government has announced that it will seek the implementation of the agreement without the participation of the United States, while Japan does not support such an option and intends to convince Donald Trump.

✖️ "Tough" policy with China

During the election race, Trump has repeatedly said that from the very first day he will take a tough stance towards China. In particular, the billionaire accused Beijing of manipulating the currency (yuan) and promised to impose 45 percent duties on Chinese goods. Experts and politicians have reasonably pointed out that such measures would lead to a "trade war" between China and the United States, but so far this has not happened. So far, only one resonant statement has been made by China from the White House: that the United States will obstruct the actions of the Chinese military in the South China Sea if they contradict American interests.

✔️ Moratorium on hiring new civil servants

On Monday, the American leader signed a decree that freezes the number of employees of the federal government at the current level and imposes a ban on its further expansion. This document applies to all employees of the federal government, "except for the military," said Trump. The new president promised to take these measures as part of the fight against bureaucracy. He also proposed to reduce the number of normative acts: with each new adopted law, two obsolete ones should be abolished.

✖️ Restricting migration

Trump's central campaign promise was to build a wall on the border with Mexico and take other measures to restrict US migration. Trump also intended to deal with the deportation of illegal immigrants "from day one", but the new president did not give any such orders. Journalists speculate that the decrees may still follow this week, but the fact that none of the anti-immigration promises has yet been fulfilled suggests that the new administration will approach the problem of migrants more carefully than Trump's words seemed. Recall that he promised to evict 2-3 million people, while during the last year of Barack Obama's presidency, 250 thousand people were expelled from the country.

✔️ NAFTA renegotiation

Trump has repeatedly spoken out in favor of renegotiating the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which, in his opinion, puts the United States in an unequal position compared to the other two partners. On Monday, Trump signed a decree to begin negotiations with Mexico and Canada to renegotiate the agreement. "If Canada and Mexico refuse to renegotiate NAFTA to ensure a 'fair deal' for American workers, the US will withdraw from the agreement," the White House website said.

✖️ Removal of restrictions on hydrocarbon production

During the early days of his presidency, Trump pledged to lift restrictions on hydrocarbon production, including offshore: “I will lift job-killing restrictions on energy production in America, including offshore energy and coal, creating millions of high-paying jobs. what we want, what we are waiting for. " After the inauguration, the America First Energy Plan was presented to the public, where these measures were reflected, but none of them has yet been put into effect.

✔️ Ban on funding abortion-related NGOs

During the presidential race, Trump has shown himself as an opponent of abortion, and one of his first decrees confirms this image. The day before, he signed a decree restoring the ban on the allocation of funds by the US federal authorities to foreign nongovernmental organizations whose medical personnel perform abortions or provide information about them. This ban was introduced by President Ronald Reagan, who was a member of the US Republican Party, in 1985. Then the ban was lifted by Democratic presidents Bill Clinton (in 1993) and Barack Obama (in 2009). Republican George W. Bush restored the ban.

✖️ Pursuit of Hillary Clinton

If elected, Trump promised to immediately appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the correspondence between the former US Secretary of State and his main rival Hillary Clinton. Speaking to supporters, the Republican also announced his intentions to send his rival to jail (thanks to which the chant Lock her up! - “To jail her!” Became popular at Trump's speeches). Apparently, the new president decided not to take these measures and instead went to peace: during the inaugural lunch, he publicly thanked Hillary for his presence, shook her hand and even gave a standing ovation.

Arthur Gromov

Republican Donald Trump, who won the presidential elections in the United States, made numerous non-trivial and sometimes sensational foreign policy statements during the election campaign. Together with RT experts, he figured out how the new head of the White House would behave in the international arena and whether one should expect sharp changes in the position of the States on such sensitive issues as relations with Russia and China, NATO's policy in the world and the fight against terrorism.

Russia: New Alliance or Continuation of Confrontation?

“I expect that we will have very, very good relations with Putin, Russia ... I think I can get along with him,” the Republican promised during the election debate. He put forward the idea of restarting relations with Moscow and did not even rule out that, having become president, he would recognize Crimea as a part of the Russian Federation.

“Donald Trump expressed a desire to meet with Vladimir Putin, but the Republican Party itself is now dominated by extremely negative sentiments towards Russia - much tougher than those of the Barack Obama administration and Hillary Clinton,” said Sergey Rogov. "Yes, it is possible that at first the intensity of the anti-Russian campaign will decrease and an attempt will be made to establish a normal dialogue, but to what extent this desire of Trump will be supported by his own administration is a very big question."

“We do not yet know the composition of the Trump administration: who will be his secretary of state, secretary of defense, national security adviser. In America, the presidential retinue plays an important role, and under Trump, the entourage may play an even greater role than usual, given his inexperience in foreign policy, "Pavel Podlesny. “The problems that have crippled our relations - disagreements on missile defense, on Ukraine, on the issue of NATO expansion, will not go anywhere either. It should also be borne in mind that in America in foreign policy, Congress plays no less a role than the president, and it has very large leverage over the administration. The President in the United States is an important figure, but not omnipotent. At the same time, personally, for the Russian President, Trump will certainly be a more comfortable dialogue partner than Hillary Clinton, ”Podlesny suggests.

In Europe and in Germany in particular, they expect that Trump will follow up on his promise to build good relations with Russia, Beatrice von Storch, MEP from the Alternative for Germany party, told RT.

“Our party feared negative consequences for international stability after Hillary Clinton came to the White House, because she declared her readiness to give the harshest response to the“ expansionism of the Russians, ”and this is not in our interests. So far, Trump has sent Russia very positive signals, and this gives us great hope. "

NATO and relations with Europe

During the election campaign, Trump said that "America cannot afford a leading role in NATO and it is time to cut spending on support of allies, including Ukraine."

"Our allies have a responsibility to shoulder their fair share of the financial, political and social costs that our gigantic security system requires ... In NATO, only 4 out of 28 of its members, besides America, spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense, as required by the North Atlantic Treaty." , - emphasized the Republican.

In addition, he has repeatedly spoken out against the planned conclusion of a free trade agreement between the US and the EU - the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

“Trump urges us to take a sober look at the interests of the United States and act accordingly. These interests do not always mean that you need to spend money on supporting NATO allies, - Pavel Podlesny said. “He’s not advocating a return to isolationism, but rather reducing American interference where there is no need to interfere, and wants to pay more attention to what he considers to be the most important. Trump is going to shake up allies, and not only NATO, but also Japan and South Korea, so that they allocate 2% of their GDP for military spending. What will come of this is unknown: Washington has raised this issue for the past 15 years, but the situation has not changed. Trump is not enthusiastic about the project of the Transatlantic Partnership, but what his real actions will be in this matter is unknown. "

The choice of the American people can become a powerful signal for the whole world - similar trends can already be observed in various countries, said German MEP Beatrice von Stroch.

“People in Germany, members of our party are in favor of free trade, but they are very skeptical about the prospect of concluding an agreement on the Transatlantic Partnership. Politicians conclude unpopular agreements and then try to force them through the parliaments, without asking the opinion of the people, without taking into account that people want something different. If in Europe the issue of (TTIP) was put to a popular vote, the overwhelming majority of the population would vote against. "

Relations with China

From the very beginning of his election campaign, Trump criticized the PRC, describing this country as one of the main rivals of the United States, especially in the economic sphere. The billionaire announced his intention to "expand the American military presence in the South China Sea as a factor in deterring China's territorial claims." In addition, he promised to tighten measures to protect American intellectual property and counter Beijing's attempts to expand exports through subsidies.

“The draft presidential decree proclaiming China a currency manipulator is already ready, it has already passed all stages, including hearings in Congress, it only remains to be signed, which means, in principle, the transition of the global confrontation between the PRC and the United States into a direct collision, because all currency and devaluation wars have always led to "hot" wars, ”political analyst Leonid Krutakov noted in an interview with RT. - At the same time, you need to understand that the statements of Trump the candidate are one thing, and the actions of Trump the president are a little different, because, I am sure, he does not know all the obligations that the United States has, and their volumes, as well as all the undercurrents. But the fact that under Trump Washington's foreign policy will not soften is obvious, because he came to power as a patriot and will act tough, proceeding from his ideas about the interests of the United States, and not the interests of China or Russia. "

“It is clear that Trump will be at war with Chinese products in one way or another, because he will not be able to raise American industry without stepping on the interests of Chinese manufacturers,” Kirill Koktysh, associate professor of the Department of Political Theory at MGIMO, shared his opinion with RT. - I think he is fulfilling his campaign promise to withdraw Apple factories from China. For the simple reason that when he chooses between the American worker and the Chinese worker, Trump will defend the interests of the American worker. "

Middle East and the fight against terrorism

The President-elect of the United States sharply criticized the mistakes made by the Barack Obama administration during the Arab Spring. Trump has promised to "bomb to dust" the oil facilities used by extremists in Syria, Iraq and Libya. According to him, in order to defeat the "Islamic State" *, it will be necessary to send a 30,000 American contingent to the Middle East. In addition, Trump intends to "restructure" the agreement signed last year on the Iranian nuclear program, which helped reduce tensions in the Persian Gulf and lift sanctions on Tehran. The Republican also promised to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and support Israel unconditionally.

In the Middle East, Trump is given complete freedom of action, since the billionaire does not have such obligations in the region as Hillary Clinton, Kirill Koktysh believes.

“So he may well act like he promised: if the Islamic State is a problem, then it needs to be fought, and if Russia is fighting IS, then she can only be thanked for that. Trump is interested in solving problems, not increasing chaos. You need to understand that it represents the interests of the real economy, and not financial capital. And these are completely different interests and rather high antagonism. That is, financial capital was primarily placed, naturally, on the Middle East, including on the destabilization of the region. The Middle East will not cease to be a zone of US interests, but these interests will be rethought, and a constructive conversation about this reconfiguration may well take place, ”the political scientist believes.

  • Reuters

"If Trump manages to achieve some kind of rapprochement with Russia, then there is a possibility that some kind of agreement will be reached on Libya," the former Prime Minister of the Transitional National Council of Libya, Mahmoud Jabril, said in an interview with RT Arabic. - There are three knots of tension with regard to Donald Trump's interaction with the countries of the Middle East, or the Arab world, and, in particular, the Islamic world. The first hotbed of tension is the question of Jerusalem. The second is the Iranian issue. I think Trump will take a new approach in dealing with Iran. This will give the Gulf countries an incentive to develop cooperation with the United States. "

Latin America

During the election campaign, Donald Trump called for the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico with a length of about 1.6 thousand km to ensure the security of the United States, and, in his opinion, the southern neighbor should finance this construction. The Republican also announced his intention to revise the North American Free Trade Agreement, thanks to which, he claimed, Mexico "receives a huge trade surplus", and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

“Trump needs Latin American markets. As a matter of fact, he will not be able to revive the American industry if he does not ensure its access to Latin American markets, - says Kirill Koktysh. “Therefore, I think both the wall and many other things can become basic negotiation concepts. Trump needs, on the one hand, to demonstrate the promised rigidity, and on the other, to get the necessary concessions from Latin American countries. Therefore, political bargaining will take place here. "

The editor-in-chief of Latin America magazine Vladimir Travkin assumes that some of the measures promised by Trump to limit the flow of illegal immigration through Mexico will be implemented.

“Some restrictions will be introduced, but I don’t think he will do exactly what he stated in his pre-election speeches. It must be remembered that the United States includes a huge territory - almost half of that Mexico that existed in the 19th century, and these territories were obtained along with the population. The Americans conquered these territories without expelling the population, so there is a significant number of indigenous Latinos in the United States. Then labor immigration began, and it was not always legal, so this is a very difficult question. These people play a big role in the US economy, and a certain part of the business uses their labor, because it is cheaper than the labor of white Americans of European descent, ”the editor-in-chief explained his position.

What is happening in the USA now? Part 1

After the victory of Donald Trump in the presidential elections in the United States, more and more new messages began to arrive from across the ocean. However, after filtering these reports through Russian-language news agencies, it becomes unclear why one part of the electorate is so unhappy and why the other is rejoicing. Although, it would seem, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama recognized the results of the vote as legitimate. Realnoe Vremya columnist Alexander Galkin, who lives in Silicon (Silicon) Valley, saw how the mood of Americans was changing. In his author's column, written specifically for our online newspaper, he understands the current situation overseas.

Recently, the United States of America has been a hot news source almost every day. Behind the vast majority of them is Donald Trump, the now elected and officially inaugurated President of the United States. His statements, campaign promises and first actions as president - practically every action - immediately became sensations, actively covered by the press and discussed throughout the world. Never before has the country been so divided, and never before has the United States had such a president. What is happening now and how does it feel from the inside?

I want to say right away that I am not a political scientist and in general I have a very distant relationship to politics. Therefore, I do not pretend to any systematic analysis of the situation, as well as to understand it correctly. I will just try to present my view of current events and my thoughts on this matter.

"The most painful fact for Trump's political opponents is that despite all their efforts, Trump is the legitimate president who won the US election in accordance with all laws and regulations." Photo tvk6.ru

Election results and their rejection

Perhaps the most "painful" fact for Trump's political opponents is that despite all their efforts, Trump is the legitimate president who won the US election in accordance with all laws and regulations.

I already wrote in one of the previous issues that the US has a rather unusual system of presidential elections, where it is not the absolute majority that decides, but the electoral system. It was thanks to this feature (aimed at leveling the size of the states and invented for the equality of all states) that Trump was able to win the election despite the fact that he received a total of several million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton.

In the interval between the state elections and the electoral elections, political life in the United States literally exploded: if before that Trump was laughed at when he accidentally (by chance?) Confused the date of the September 11 attacks (in English nine-eleven, 9/11) and the name chain of convenience stores (7-11, seven-eleven), then during this period they began to directly express accusations of discrediting the elections due to the interference of Russian hackers and about a special dossier on him. Both on television and in films, he supported this role of "a somewhat strange multimillionaire with presidential ambitions."

They joked for many years that Trump dreams of becoming president of the United States: on Oprah's talk show (one of the most popular talk shows in the United States) and Barack Obama in his annual speeches. Even the popular animated series The Simpsons played it in one of the episodes, where Marge gets into the future and becomes the next US President after Donald Trump! Thus, we can say that the image of Trump as the eternal candidate for the US presidency has been known to every American for at least the last 20 years.

"The show, especially in the early years, was very successful, Trump even received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and added the image of a genius businessman to his image." Photo nbcnews.com

Candidate and House of Cards Candidate

However, the Americans got to know him much better thanks to the reality game show "The Candidate" (Apprentice), which Trump hosted on NBC for 14 years every Thursday. In this show, candidates were given various non-trivial business tasks (to increase the start-up capital by selling lemonade, develop an advertising campaign, sell paintings by abstract artists, etc.). Trump has been the engine of the show all this time: as a host with his constant monologue about one of the many aspects of a successful businessman and as a sponsor of prizes for winners of individual tours who could dine at his penthouse or ride his private jet after having lunch on board. The show, especially in the early years, was very successful, Trump even earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and added to his image the image of a brilliant businessman who knows how to do business no matter what difficulties and in any situation (which, for the most part, reflected the real state of affairs of Trump, who in the 90s, due to the crisis, for a long time teetered on the brink of bankruptcy, but was able to get out of the debt hole and not lose his business). The show is still being released, and in 2017, instead of Trump, it is hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Both as the host of the show and during his presidential campaign, Trump was remembered for his rather scandalous, often even sexist, statements, which, however, influenced his rating extremely positively. It should be noted that practically simultaneously with the election campaign in the United States, the series about politics "House of Cards" is gaining immense popularity, where the emphasis is on the cunning and intrigue of modern political cuisine, on its hypocrisy and cruelty for the sake of preserving prestige. The characters of this series are surprisingly similar to typical American politicians, in particular to the Clinton family (although this is not said anywhere). Against this background, Trump, as is not the first time in the confrontation between the two leading political parties of the United States, "plays the role" of an ordinary American (this role was still very well played by George Double-U Bush), who may be far from ideal, but is alien to hypocrisy and does not try to pretend to be someone that he is not.

Victory over the "unconventional"

For a long time, it was the House of Cards that ruled in the US political arena: the marginal and vulnerable segments of society (LGBT community, low-income families, immigrants) received more attention than the “ordinary” (traditional, earning enough for their content or having their own case) to the Americans. All actions of the presidential administration and himself were aimed at adopting laws to protect these population groups, and the same Obamacare, constantly abused by many (far from poor!) Politicians, is aimed precisely at social protection of the poor.

“Ordinary Americans have become afraid that the government is no longer their interests, and they are no longer the political majority. And the choice of President Hillary Clinton would show the equality of women and men and would further reinforce these fears. " Photo washingtonpost.com

The constant shift in focus to these groups could not go unnoticed. Many Americans, with enough income to pay for health insurance, worked tirelessly to do so, were unhappy about this. In addition to disregarding their interests, many of these segments of the population were also dissatisfied with the established norms of behavior and freedom of speech in the United States, when it was considered "good form" to speak about supporting the rights of the disadvantaged and non-traditional social movements, even if you were indifferent to the former and disgusting the latter. It was this group that was one of the main groups of Donald Trump's electorate in the past elections. Trump, with all his ambiguous but sincere statements, reflected exactly what they, too, would like to say, but could not because of the prevailing norms of behavior in society.

And the fact that a huge mistake was made in predicting the election results, when Hillary Clinton predicted victory with almost 90% probability even a day before the vote, once again well reflects the tradition existing in modern American society, known as the "spiral of silence", that is if you do not like blacks, Jews and gays, then you are forced to remain silent and not talk about it, so as not to seem intolerant or discriminating against someone. But this, in turn, led to the popularization of these social groups, and, as Belkovsky aptly remarked, ordinary Americans began to fear that the government was no longer their interests, and they were no longer the political majority. And President Hillary Clinton's choice would show the equality of women and men and further reinforce those fears. That is why the forecast was wrong: voters honestly lied when asked who they would vote for, so as not to show their real motives and requests ahead of time. It was this electorate that led Donald Trump to such an unexpected victory!

In the next issue we will talk about the inauguration and his first steps as President of the United States, discuss the protests and the consequences of this.

The President-elect of the United States spoke flatteringly about the Clintons during the 60 Minutes broadcast on CBS. But more recently, he promised to put Hillary behind bars

The Republican candidate who won the presidential elections in the United States spoke to host Leslie Stahl on the CBS program "60 Minutes". The full version of the interview has not yet been released - as an announcement there is a small fragment in which Trump talks about the dialogue with Hillary Clinton immediately after his victory.

Donald Trump US President-elect“It was a very sweet conversation, even though it was difficult for her to speak. I can imagine. It was even more difficult for her than it would be for me if I were not in her place. She was extremely helpful. Said, Congratulations, Donald, well done. I answered her: Thank you very much, you are an excellent opponent. She is very strong and very intelligent. Bill Clinton called the next day. As well as Hillary was very helpful. Said it was an amazing race, one of the most amazing he had seen. Clinton is a very talented guy, both of them. This is a very talented family, of course, I would consider that option. "

The President-elect of the United States has pledged to lead his Twiiter as head of state with more restraint. Trump added that he considers social media to be a huge force, and he proved it during his campaign.

Earlier in an exclusive interview with The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump outlined his views on a number of domestic and foreign policy issues. In particular, he reiterated the thesis, expressed by him during the election campaign, that the United States should focus on the fight against the Islamic State, and not against the Syrian regime, as it was before. “We are now supporting the Syrian rebels, even though we have no idea what kind of people they are,” Trump said. In fact, we are talking about the fact that Trump wants to generally reduce the involvement of the United States in the problems of the region, leaving Iran and Russia to deal with them, said Alexey Malashenko, a member of the scientific council of the Carnegie Moscow Center, political scientist and orientalist.

Member of the Scientific Council of the Carnegie Moscow Center“I think that in all areas of his policy, Trump will proceed from the internal interests of America. Trump does not have an inferiority complex that if America has problems somewhere abroad, it will immediately lose its position as a great power. He will look at the Middle East from the perspective of the internal interests of the United States. It turns out that the Middle East does not really matter that much. Moreover, he is not afraid. He believes that it is enough to introduce some measures to protect America itself. Let Russia, Europe and so on deal with Islam, the Middle East. And America will take its time in this regard. Russia wants to position itself in the Middle East as a great power, so be it. Let her save Bashar, let her fight against the "Islamic State", for her it is a priority to show what she is capable of. If Trump really pursues a line that, apparently, will be liked in Moscow at first and will be perceived as concessions, then I do not know what will happen in the Middle East at all, and how Russia will feel there after it will not be the most important thing. I do not rule out that in this situation Russia will have to bear great responsibility for the situation in the Middle East, which, in general, is still developing unpredictably. And for Russian foreign policy, I don't even know what to call it, Trumpoflebit or something. "

On the eve of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, in an interview with Associated Press, said that during his presidency, Trump could build trusting relations with Russia, forcing NATO to stop expansion or withdraw its troops from the Russian borders.

Meanwhile, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes that the positions on key issues of the Russian president and the next US president are very close.

Viacheslav Volodin State Duma speaker “If Trump starts to implement what he said, of course, this will change the situation radically. We've just seen Trump's candidate, but let's see what kind of president he will be. I want to say again: of course, on key issues, there has never been such a rapprochement of positions between the presidents of Russia and the United States. Our president constantly said this and put it into practice, but at the same time, President Obama either ignored it, or often, as we see, simply increased tension, and, accordingly, all this led to an exacerbation of relations. Moreover, this position was not only in relation to Russia. We can see what is happening in the Middle East, we can see what a difficult situation is in many European countries. A lot depends on the United States to relieve this tension. This is most likely one of the priorities in the work of the future president, because Trump will have to solve these problems. "

Meanwhile, EU foreign ministers are planning to hold an emergency meeting today to discuss Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. This was reported by France Press, citing German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Steinmeier announced the need for an urgent meeting of European leaders to determine the further vector of the EU's development in foreign policy issues on the day of the announcement of the voting results in the United States. He called Trump's victory an "earthquake" that hit Europe. At the same time, Steinmeier expressed the hope that "President Trump will act differently than candidate Trump."

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen described Trump's victory in two words - "a real shock." And one of the German diplomats aptly summed up that "the American umbrella over Europe is being folded forever."

And the British Sunday Telegraph writes today that the British Foreign Office will try to convince the elected US President to work with Russia on the Syrian settlement. According to one source, Trump views Russian President Vladimir Putin "as someone to deal with." “But when he realizes that Putin is not a reasonable and judicious partner, he may change his mind. This may take time, ”the diplomat said. According to another interlocutor of the publication, negotiations on this issue will be very difficult, but London does not intend to change its point of view.
