Incredible feats of the most courageous people in history. Photo. Chief Editor of Russia Today. Yuri Milner: "The treatment of serious diseases requires more effort than fundamental physics"

RR presents again the results of the annual research project"The most authoritative people of Russia." We are still interested in genuine reputations, real people, and not positions or formal fame. A person means more than his status, and this is the humanistic pathos of the project. But this time we decided to change the very approach to the study: we did not divide a hundred by professional groups, but simply included in the list of people who committed last year some strong act

We interpret the very concept of an act quite broadly: it could be a programmatic political statement, or a spontaneous gesture, or a serious professional success, the opening of a factory or a discovery in science, the release of a new film, or an artistic action. Sometimes a certain “set of merit” is also counted for an act. In any case, these are people of action, and it is their actions that change the surrounding reality - civil, social, political, scientific and cultural - or contribute to its change.

The defining criterion for the editors was the following - each of those on the list could turn out (and many actually turned out to be) the hero of the material of the "Russian Reporter", a report, an interview, an investigation and an analytical article.

That is why the hundred included very different people. Someone such a neighborhood may revolt. For some, let’s say, Andrey Makarevich will irritate: “What did he do?” the reader will ask. Others, on the contrary, will approve Makarevich’s candidacy (“He showed integrity. He went against the authorities and public opinion!”), but they will become indignant at the inclusion of Igor Strelkov or Arseniy Pavlov, better known under the call sign Motorola, who defended Semenovka near Slavyansk with a small detachment for weeks. "Bandits and terrorists!" - the liberal opposition white-tape worker will deliver a verdict. "Heroes, true patriots!" - the conservative guard retorts.

Both views will be evaluative, subjective. Objectivity, however, requires recognition: in our common reality, Strelkov and Makarevich, Rogozin and Udaltsov coexist, and each of them influences it in his own way, and with them - scientists and officials, doctors and journalists, military men and teachers. This is the diversity of the country, its complexity. You can, of course, manually select from this complexity only those who you like, ideologically or personally likeable, and make a non-irritating party list (one for each party). We tried not to censor, but to integrate the complexity. After all, by and large, these people, often with opposing views, represent the whole palette public life, and more broadly - Russian history in 2014.

The actions of many are connected with the tragic Ukrainian events, the clashes on the Maidan, the fate of Crimea, the war in the south-east of Ukraine, with civil discord, as well as with how it responded inside our country. The Ukrainian bias is palpable. But we deliberately do not refuse this distortion. What is happening in the neighboring country, where our relatives and friends live, has become the main thing this year, it would be wrong to turn a blind eye to this.

How to read a special project and what to pay attention to?

"100 people modern Russia' is not a rating. The people on our list are too different, and the actions that they have committed are diverse. We do not rank them, we do not try to correlate them with each other. You also need to understand that our hundred is not at all exhaustive. There were other strong moves as well. On the other hand, we believe that the content of the hundred correctly describes the internal dynamics of our society and shows the resultant of many forces and aspirations.

About ten out of a hundred, we made small essays, essays, talked to some of them. These ten are not the best, but we thought it was interesting to write about them. And the essays also quite clearly demonstrate the complexity of the processes taking place in a country where there is room for new discoveries, creative work, heroic deeds and social conflicts. There is room for action.

Makarevich Andrey

Singer, musician

He condemned the annexation of Crimea and Russia's intervention in the Ukrainian conflict, sang in front of refugees in the territory controlled by the Kiev authorities, for which he was harassed by Russian central television channels.

Alexey Chaly: "Russia and the current government are incomparable in scale"

Alexei Chaly does not have a secretary. And there is no reception either. Alexei Chaly doesn't even have a sign on his office door. And the door itself is such that you can’t look without tears: even the supply manager of a provincial university would be embarrassed to sit behind it. Only the office itself is more modest than the door: there is a first-class creative mess around - approximately in such conditions the heads of the labs of Soviet research institutes worked.

Actually, it was from the laboratory of switching devices at the Sevastopol Technical University that 27 years ago Aleksey Chaly started a business that grew into the Tavrida Electric group of companies with a revenue of $300 million. In February, the name of its general director was recognized by the whole world - after Chaly, in the status of the "people's governor" of Sevastopol, led an open struggle for the annexation of Crimea to Russia. And on March 18, on the day of the signing of the agreement on the entry of the peninsula into the Russian Federation, his fist clenched in a triumphant gesture was shown by all the largest television companies in the world - some with horror, others with admiration.

By the way, Alexei Mikhailovich, how did you end up in the Kremlin in a simple sweater? Is this the idea of image makers?

Yes, what kind of image makers are there! It's just that representatives of the relevant structures were too clever with secrecy. On that day, I was sure that we were flying to some kind of meeting of expert groups, they kept the purpose of the trip secret until the very end. Well, I went to this meeting in what I was, and I am always dressed in a simple way.

A Sevastopol resident to the marrow of his bones, he never hid his attitude to the fact that after the collapse of the USSR, Crimea ended up “in emigration”: “It was such a constantly bleeding wound. Especially when they began to mock people, reshape their brains. I've always dealt with it in a variety of ways."

Back in the 1990s, Aleksey became known in the city thanks to his humanitarian charitable projects: lessons in Sevastopol studies, the museum of the 35th battery, his own TV channel - Chaly spared no money and time in the fight for the minds and souls of the Crimeans. At the same time, his patriotism was never trench-like; this man sufficiently felt himself to be a citizen of the world. One of Chaly's best friends and partners, who, by his own admission, played a key role in the success of his business, is Irish.

His name is John Cunenham. We met in 1996, ”recalls Alexey. - He doesn't have a very big business himself, but John taught me a lot about how to create innovative companies, how to commercialize the craziest ideas. We made some very cool products with him. Two of them were recognized as the best British products in 1997 and 1999.

Chaly, of course, is a patriot of Russia, but this does not prevent him from being a realist and a person who is inconvenient for Moscow. Already six months after he "returned the unsinkable aircraft carrier Crimea to the port of permanent registry," the man in the sweater again became the hero of the news, but this time disturbing.

On the this moment Moscow's efforts hushed up the conflict, but not exhausted it. In September, elections to the local parliament were held in Sevastopol, now the majority of deputies are Chaly's people. Political stability in the city will depend on the accuracy and precision of the Kremlin's strategists. But no matter how the future of Sevastopol turns out, the man in the sweater assures that he will never regret the choice he made this spring:

What is Russia and what is the current Russian government? Chaly asks and answers himself. - These are incomparable things. Russia is a historical entity that is over a thousand years old. Russia is the 35th battery, and Minin with Pozharsky, and Kulikovo field. How can I be against Russia?

Vahid Abubakarov: “I didn’t want to make a decision under pressure”

Insolence is one of the virtues. This is the opinion of the judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Vahid Abubakarov, who has been doing everything all his life to break his career, but he has not succeeded so far. The latest audacity of Judge Abubakarov was his withdrawal from the case of Suleyman Edigov, who was accused of killing a policeman. The head of the Committee against Torture, Igor Kalyapin, called the judge's act heroic. It was a rare, perhaps the only case in history when human rights activists admired the act of a judge. What happened?

“After listening to the last word of the defendant Suleiman Edigov, the judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya Vahid Abubakarov ordered an investigative check of his arguments. The investigation was frightened, and the judge conducted it himself, right in the courtroom. It turned out that the police tortured Edigov, forced a confession out of him and did not find any other evidence of his guilt. And then the Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya called the judge and "warned against issuing an acquittal." Abubakarov recused himself, explaining it by the impossibility of passing an impartial verdict.” This is the beginning of our long report about Vakhid Abubakarov (“Reckless Acts of Judge Abubakarov”, “RR” No. 6).

The act of the judge attracted attention not only to himself, but also to the case of Suleiman Edigov - the resonance turned out to the whole country. This did not help Edigov: in May he was sentenced to fourteen years in prison.

Edigov allegedly confessed during the investigation and at the beginning of the trial, - explains the lawyer of the Consolidated Mobile Group Anton Ryzhov. “But at the last word, he could not resist and told how he was tortured, showed mutilated fingers to which wires were connected, and said that he had slandered himself only because of the pain. Then Abubakarov again returned to the stage of the judicial investigation and began to meticulously check Suleiman's arguments about torture. He interviewed policemen, witnesses. And when he was already supposed to cut this knot, the same call followed, after which the judge recused himself. The other would have been more accommodating and, ignoring everything related to torture, condemned Edigov. This is the first time in my practice that such thoroughness has been encountered.

The judges talked a lot about the act, people looked for different motives in it. When I told Abubakarov about this, he was indignant, although he tried not to show it:

I never personally benefited from these speeches and did not count on this benefit, I give you my word of honor. And today - I did not apply anywhere! As a judge, I gave people the decision. And they launched it. And human rights activists, the public reacted correctly, they considered that it was impossible. When they asked me, I simply answered: I do not want to be influenced. If influenced, I no longer have the right to decide on this case, because impartiality has been shaken. Even if I myself consider that I was impartial, those who threatened may say: “Accusatory - I frightened him. Exculpatory - he did it out of spite.

The sons were next to the judge every day. They came to protect their father, including from excessive frankness, knowing his directness. So when the judge said last words- the conversation took place in his house in Urus-Martan, - the door opened and the youngest son Aslan entered. He listened and began to pace the kitchen nervously.

They will look at this verdict through the prism of distrust,” the judge did not calm down. - And besides, when you decide the fate of a person, if you succumbed to something and - I don’t know if it will be clear to you or not - when out of cowardice you shouted out a command given by someone, how to come into the house after that and tell your wife: am I your husband? How to behave in front of your wife as if you are a real man?

Then the eldest son entered the kitchen and also tried to end the conversation, directly addressing me: “Have you already talked enough?” But this did not stop the judge.

When they tried to influence me with a rude shout, it touched me, it offended me, ”he continued. - Under such pressure, I did not want to make a decision regarding a person. This is not a feat, this is an elementary act of an ordinary judge. For some reason, it was given an extremely significant character. I absolutely did not think that I was doing some unusual act there.

A year has passed. Judge Vahid Abubakarov underwent a severe heart operation. And he returned to work in the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic. In November, Edigov's case will be considered by the Supreme Court of Russia.

Elizaveta Glinka: “It is hard to transport injured children who are in pain”

Elizaveta Glinka graduated from the II Pirogov Medical Institute in Moscow and Dartmund Medical School with a degree in palliative medicine. In 1999, she founded the first hospice at a cancer hospital in Kiev. In 2007 - the Fair Aid Foundation in Moscow. For many years, the foundation has been helping the homeless - treats, feeds and distributes clothes - and victims of natural disasters - fires in Russia in the summer of 2010, a flood in Krymsk in 2011. Since the beginning of the war in Donbass, the fund has been helping Ukrainian refugees. Dr. Liza personally takes orphans and seriously ill children out of the war zone. Been there 15 times already.

I work only in Donetsk. It all started in May, and in May I helped two cities - both Kiev and Donetsk - because I understood that there was a war going on, but I did not understand what kind. I understood that there were no medicines, because doctors from both Kiev and Donetsk wrote that there were not enough serums, medicines, tourniquets and hemostatic agents. At first, we transported humanitarian aid by plane - until the airport was bombed. Then in other available ways. Well, since the beginning of the bombing of Donetsk, there have been requests for the hospitalization of sick and wounded children.

How do you agree on the removal of children, how do both sides let them through?

Normal people are everywhere. Of course, we agree with both parties. And there is no reason for conflict: if the orphans from the city that is being shelled are to be transported to a safe place, then they are being transported there. If this is between two conflicting parties, then it is necessary to negotiate with both. And, I must say, everyone went forward.

What do you internally prepare for when you travel?

I am very afraid that someone will shoot and the children will suffer. This is scary. Because now the station in Donetsk is not working, and we take the children by bus to the station where the train goes. You feel safer on the train. But these three hours drive from Konstantinovka to Donetsk, of course, is not a test for the nervous.

How does it all start on this day?

We are preparing for the week. Children are brought to the regional hospital if they are no longer lying there. We study the case histories, negotiate with the Ministry of Health, and get places for them. Parents draw up documents for export: their own passports, so that they are valid, permission from the second parent to export for treatment to Russia, that is, a whole package of documents. This is in Donetsk. Here I receive a referral for treatment and a letter from the Ombudsman stating that our mission is doing this at the request of the parents.

Do you feel like heroes?

Of course not. After the Red Cross, I feel like an enemy of the world.

What happened to the Red Cross?

I gave a rather lengthy interview, and when I was asked about my relationship with the Red Cross, I said that in May the Red Cross refused to help me. I am an emotional person, but not scandalous - this was the only meeting that I left in protest. There were no bombings then, but the fighting went on. And it was necessary to take help to Kiev and Donetsk. We asked for a cover letter from the Red Cross - and now it's being discussed whether it was a problem of translation, misunderstanding or misunderstanding - but they categorically refused: no, what if you put weapons in these boxes? I said: I will bring the boxes to the office. They said: we are not doing this, you can help the Red Cross, and we will distribute the help as we see fit.

What is the condition of the children you are transporting?

In different. There are seriously ill patients, there are those of moderate severity. It is difficult to transport injured children who are in pain. It is scary to transport children with epilepsy, because a seizure may begin. But in general there is such a cheerful carriage, we all run to each other in the compartment, or they run to us. I travel with the security guard Kolya, he doesn’t have any children of his own, he plays with them, draws for them, they always ask to make pistols for them and, of course, play war, and Kolya is taken prisoner on the top shelf. Terrible, but those are the games. And the girls bring me "wounded children", dolls, and say: treat them too. These dolls are literally painted. We photographed one doll, I say: what happened to her? “She has a shrapnel wound,” a five-year-old girl said. She, she says, went out into the street, covered in shrapnel wounds. So we took care of her too. Kolka lay arrested on the top shelf. This is how we arrived.

Valery Rubakov: “Perhaps without our performances we would have come to a complete hole”

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, physicist

Valery Rubakov is one of the world's leading nuclear physicists, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1987 to 1994 - Deputy Director of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences for scientific work. After - the chief employee of the Institute, the head of the Department of Particle Physics and Cosmology of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, the first deputy editor-in-chief of the journal "Uspekhi fizicheskikh nauk". He supervised part of the construction of the Baksan neutrino observatory and the Baikal deep-sea detector, stood at the origins of modern inflationary theory.

Valery Rubakov and Mikhail Shaposhnikov suggested back in the early 1980s that the world has an infinite number of dimensions. It's just that in the normal state we see only three of them, however, by applying energy, you can get into other spaces. Rubakov is the author of more than 160 scientific works, in the field of his scientific interests - quantum field theory, gravity, particle physics, daughter universes, Big Bang.

During the conflict associated with the sudden, like an undeclared war, governmental reform of the RAS, Rubakov was one of those who claimed that he would leave the academy if the reform continued, which called into question its very existence. A governmental Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FANO) was created, and the functions of managing science and academic property were transferred to it. Very many scientists, not without reason, believed that the entire “reform” was started for the sake of transferring expensive academic buildings and other property to new owners. The RAS itself turned into a club of scientists without any managerial functions.

But in the future, Rubakov proved the possibility of at least a minimally constructive dialogue between supporters of reforms and the academic opposition. And this was not at all a retreat in front of the government ice rink, but an attempt to defend positions instead of immediately capitulating.

Valery Anatolyevich became one of the organizers of the conference, which has no analogues in history, at which thousands of scientists expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the government and offered alternative reform options. Rubakov was of the opinion that reform was necessary, but a reasonable compromise was also necessary for everyone: the government, scientists, and economists.

The new statute of the RAS retained the idea that the Academy of Sciences is not only academicians, but also institutes and scientific teams. And it is written there that the academy interacts with FASO on the formation of state assignments and so on. How it will be implemented, I do not know. Life is more diverse than paper, Rubakov said.

He became one of the founders of the July 1 Club, an informal group of academicians who announced their intention to boycott the RAS if a reform law was passed. At a meeting of scientists of the Academy of Sciences with deputies of the State Duma, Valery Rubakov announced the decision of the organizing committee of the conference of scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences to create a commission of public control in the field of science. The Commission was established and became one of the main instruments of dialogue between scientists and big science officials. Among its tasks are control over the transformation of institutions subordinate to the Russian Academy of Sciences, and evaluation of the effectiveness of research teams.

According to Valery Anatolyevich, there are many problems:

For example, an assessment of the effectiveness of institutions is coming. The assessment methodology is being developed by FASO. But no one consulted with the scientific community. It can be assessed in such a way that the best teams will be of no use. But there are people who understand this! I myself took part in the assessment of institutions abroad and I know how delicate this is.

Is there any sense in all these speeches and statements? Rubakov believes that, of course, there are:

Perhaps, without our performances, we would have already come to a complete hole. The adopted law was much more dangerous than anything that happened after. There could have been a big purge, cuts in institutions and people. This did not happen. Whether this is the result of struggles or a natural combination of circumstances, the devil knows!

Svetlana Gannushkina: “We need to help those who are not helped by the state”

The office of the Civic Assistance Committee on Olimpiyskiy Prospekt is unremarkable: a long corridor, with a dozen offices where social workers and lawyers work. The doctor is in a separate room. There is a warehouse where the needy can take clothes. Svetlana Alekseevna Gannushkina, head of the committee, takes part in the reception. People with especially difficult situations are sent to her. She is talking to an Afghan. He has a bad pronunciation, an indelible smile and eight children. Seven received the status, and the eighth is not given. Gannushkina calls up a lawyer who is to go to court with the Afghan.

Svetlana Alekseevna has been in human rights since the late eighties. At first they worked "on their knees" - there were no computers, not to mention the premises; then they received a reception room at Dolgorukovskaya on preferential rent, and in 2011, with the support of the Council under President Medvedev, the committee was given a larger office for free use. Then the officials demanded from Gannushkina to quickly choose a building and sign an agreement (with a clause that the committee could be evicted from the building, simply by giving a month's notice), they say, others kiss their hands for this. “I kiss hands and even heels only for babies,” Gannushkina answered them. From the contract, which is already in its third year, this clause was excluded.

There are hardly many experts in Russia who are able to judge what is happening in human rights with the same authority as Gannushkina. Svetlana Alekseevna is a member of the governing bodies of the Memorial Center, the government commission on migration policy, and has been a member of the Council for Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation for 10 years. On the wall in her office - thanks from Medvedev, Luzhkov and Putin (Svetlana Alekseevna says that they serve as a lightning rod if the police are behind the visitors to the committee).

As the Afghan leaves, Gannushkina talks about what civil society has faced over the past year.

“First of all, of course, this is the so-called law on foreign agents. The accusations that we are agents are complete nonsense, having no basis in itself, - says Gannushkina. - This campaign is invented to denigrate us in the eyes of society. But during the existence of this law, non-governmental organizations have only rallied. Only one organization has registered as a foreign agent, if I am not mistaken, working in favor of Belarus. We didn't go to the stall ourselves. The first serious organizations entered the register of “agents” only when the Ministry of Justice received the right to place them there without asking for consent. The Committee has not yet been included in the register, in contrast to the Human Rights Center “Memorial”. With colleagues from Memorial, we decided that we would report in accordance with the requirements of this law, according to the new standards, but we will not wear this yellow star, the label of an agent, for anything.

Let's move on to another burning topic - this is Ukraine. Gannushkina, a former university teacher of mathematics (with 30 years of work behind her back), conveys her position calmly, clearly and confidently: “The annexation of Crimea and Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine severely divided our population. Many succumbed to the propaganda that supposedly the annexation marked the beginning of the process of revival great Russia. That is, we are a great power not because our people live well, but because we have restored jurisdiction over certain territories. This is not the task to be set. Meanwhile, there is something in the Ukrainian crisis that has united civil society, government and ordinary people, is the attitude towards refugees. A broad volunteer movement developed, many of them settled refugees at home, the authorities set up good temporary camps. However, by the end of the summer, the enthusiasm began to fade. There were conflicts between hosts and guests. Reception offices of the FMS in several regions have stopped accepting applications, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has begun to close the camps.”

Recently, Svetlana Alekseevna supported a project to help lonely Russian old people in the Caucasus. “I believe that it is necessary to help those who are not helped by the state and who, at the same time, need help,” explains Gannushkina. - And you need to call things by their proper names. As we are talking about the oppression of Chechens in prisons, so here I can boldly, without any hesitation, say that Russians in Chechnya are in a difficult situation, they need help - especially old, lonely ones. They wrote to me here: “You can provoke Ramzan Akhmatovich to help them himself.” So I'm happy to provoke anyone to do a good deed."

Teodor Currentzis: "Free art is possible, even if it is criticized by the authorities"

Artistic director Perm theater opera and ballet

A world-famous conductor, an Athenian by birth, moved to Russia in the early nineties: Currentzis graduated from the class of the legendary Igor Musin at the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, and was an assistant to the great conductor Yuri Temirkanov. In 2004, he staged Aida at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, which received the Golden Mask as the best opera performance of the season. There are five personal conductor's "Masks" in the collection of Currentzis.

Becoming the artistic director of the Novosibirsk Opera, Currentzis created there chamber orchestra Musica Aeterna Ensemble and The New Siberian Singers. In the orchestra, Currentzis took those who were ready to work sixteen hours a day. As a result, today the Musica Aeterna orchestra is one of the most demanded bands, including in Europe. Proof of this is the exclusive contract with Sony Classical and the leadership in the US charts of Mozart's Marriage of Figaro recorded in Perm.

I would like this fact to confirm the establishment of decentralization in culture, says Teodor Currentzis. - But still our example is an exception to the rule. Although decentralization is really my dream.

"Perm Mozart", as journalists sometimes call Theodore, not so long ago remained almost the only one of those who continue to defend Perm's right to modern culture. Just a couple of weeks ago, the dispute between Currentzis and the regional Ministry of Culture, which tried to almost halve the budget of the theater and dictate its terms, subsided. Still, the money was found, and the conflict seemed to have been settled.

People who make decisions should understand the importance of a person who serves art, argues Teodor Currentzis. - If you trust the pilot, you don't go into the cockpit and ask how many degrees he turns and why. It is impossible not to trust the artists and put obstacles on them. People who have creative powers are trustworthy, they can enrich the culture of the country. And if the iron curtain is lowered, I'm afraid that after some time we will again find ourselves in line for Big Macs.

Currentzis speaks quietly and insinuatingly, and his voice is not at all like the voice of a fighter against the regime - and more recently, the media were full of headlines "Conductor Currentzis accused the regional Ministry of Culture of unprofessionalism."

A professional official should be a connoisseur of world culture, - the conductor argues. - He must travel, attend festivals that are considered important, know world theaters and museums, follow the latest achievements in culture and, based on this, try to understand what place Russia's cultural reality occupies in global development. There were cases when an official who does not know the repertoire at all classical music, tried to dictate to me what to play. It was insulting. Because we dedicate our lives to art, and an outsider who does not delve into anything comes simply because he is in power and wants to spread his own aesthetics and his own view of art. It is not right. You trust the pilot. And a doctor.

Currentzis refuses revolutionary laurels - he claims that he is against conflicts and for agreeing that he is always ready for compromises. He makes light curtsy-indulgences to the Russian public and bureaucratic structure, but does not retreat from his main demand - freedom for the artist.

I am not the one who can judge global political issues, continues Currentzis. - But we are in Russia because it is a surprisingly free country where real art can exist. Where free art is possible, even if it is criticized by the authorities. Smart government should sponsor those who criticize it, and learn from this criticism. Democracy in the civilized world must be built on such principles. My opinion may differ from yours, but I will give you shelter so that you can defend your opinion - this is how it should be modern society. And splits and hatred are wrong.

Roman Petushkov: “We need to bring everything to the end, not to quit in the middle of the path”

Paralympian, skier and biathlete

At the Sochi Games, Roman Petushkov won the very first gold medal, and then added five more to it. This is a record for the most awards of the highest value won by one person at one Paralympic Games in history.

Roman Petushkov went to the Champions Award Square in Rosa Khutor six times: three victories in cross-country skiing, three in biathlon. It is generally accepted that all Paralympic athletes are heroes, regardless of occupied places, and, on the one hand, it is. But an athlete always fights for victory, and being the best of the best at the main start of the four years is a unique result that Roman Petushkov went to long years. He really wanted to win. A month before the start of the Paralympics, he was already setting up for the first race. I prepared myself physically and mentally. Every evening before going to bed, lying in my room, I mentally went through the track, turn after turn, circle after circle - the benefit of Russian athletes was given the opportunity to get acquainted with the Olympic distance in advance.

The Paralympic Games in Sochi began on March 7, and the next day the first race was the biathletes' sprint. Roman wanted to make a gift to women on March 8 - to open the overall medal standings in gold. The night before the race, he had a dream: “I ran half the distance and suddenly I was back in the room. They come to me and say: Roma, you won. I was surprised - how so, I haven't run yet! And in response: and you won ahead of schedule.

The prophetic dream came true the next morning: the first gold at the Paralympics in Sochi, the first Russian gold, the first in Roman Petushkov's career. Although success could come even earlier - in Vancouver.

The first Games in Roman's life cannot be called unsuccessful. Four years after the accident - in 2006 he was hit by a truck - he not only began to live anew, but also got into the national team. Petushkov loved sports since childhood, especially martial arts and downhill skiing. But after the operation, everything changed. True, Roman's mother was not going to give up and found out how her son could be in the national team. He agreed not immediately, but still went to the training camp. In the Moscow region, where people with disabilities came from all over Russia, the most important, probably, meeting in Petushkov's sports life took place - he was introduced to the head coach of the Paralympic national team cross-country skiing and biathlon Irina Gromova. Now Roman says that her success in Sochi is her merit: “Without a coach, there would be no athlete. Our team is big family. United. We treat each other with great respect, in a kindred way.

Irina Gromova invited Petushkov to the national team and was not mistaken - in Vancouver he won bronze and silver. It could have been more, Gromova said, but the lack of experience, stability affected, and it was not possible to tune in psychologically. Later, Roman reconsidered his attitude to sports. He became more serious, more collected. “In order to achieve something in sports, you need to work for a long time, work a lot,” says the six-time champion. - In any business, strength of mind and willpower lead to victories. Whatever you do, you need to bring everything to the end, do not quit in the middle of the path.

After the Games in Sochi, little has changed in Roman's life. He did not catch star disease, did not abandon training and did not leave the sport. Still training, skiing 10-15 km a day: “Nothing has changed. ordinary life you live, and it seems as if nothing happened, no Olympics. And you start looking at the photos, you start to remember everything ... I still can’t realize what happened. It's like it was some kind of dream. In four years - the Olympics in Korea, and I don't know if I can even come close to the result in Sochi. After all, I will be 40 years old. But six months have passed since the Olympics, and it became boring without sports. The state of health still allows, there is strength, a spark, no other work has been offered, so the attempt is not torture. And you can see it there."

Elena Serova: “I am sure that our grandchildren will fly to other planets”

test cosmonaut

“Will you feel uncomfortable if a car is laid on top of you?” - Elena Serova jokes, describing the sensations during overloads. She was prepared for flight for eight whole years. There is no difference between men and women during training at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center: Serova was taught to survive in the desert, in the taiga, in the swamp, on the water and under water. For the sake of her childhood dream, flight into space, Elena passed all the tests with honor. Millions dreamed, but she flew. And now Elena Serova works as a flight engineer on the ISS, she will spend 168 days in space together with the crew commander Alexander Samokutyaev and Barry Wilmore from the USA.

The path to the stars began in the Far Eastern village of Vozdvizhenka, where on April 22, 1976, a future female cosmonaut was born into the family of an Air Force officer. In March 2001, Elena graduated from the aerospace department of the Moscow Aviation Institute with the qualification of "engineer". A little later, she also received an economic education at the Moscow State Academy of Instrument Engineering and Informatics. During her studies, she met her future husband, Mark Serov. They worked together at the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation, where Elena worked as an engineer of the second category. And although research and engineering work on Earth attracted a young specialist, she did not give up her dream of flying into space.

Mark was enlisted in the cosmonaut corps in 2003, and Elena - in 2006. But Mark never managed to fly into space, although he passed the state exams in general space training with excellent marks. According to statistics, only every third astronaut has the opportunity to get into space. Now Mark is the head of the flight test department of the Energia Rocket and Space Corporation. He and Elena are raising a 12-year-old daughter.

At the opening of the Olympic Games in Sochi as part of a group of legendary cosmonauts Soviet Union and Russia, headed by Sergei Krikalev, Elena Serova raised the State Flag of the Russian Federation.

A working day in orbit, like on Earth, lasts 8 hours. The morning begins with a press conference with the Earth, before that you need to check the serviceability and functioning of the systems. Then the cosmonauts get to work, conduct scientific experiments, test equipment, and engage in scheduled and unscheduled exercises. “I’m already getting used to life in zero gravity, which is scheduled literally by the minute,” Elena shares her impressions in a blog on the Roscosmos website. “We regularly play sports, conduct scientific experiments - there will be 59 of them in total, and last week we devoted a lot of time to skills in responding to emergencies, such as fire and depressurization.” Serova is going to study the body's response to microgravity conditions. “This is a reserve for the future - a reserve for our children, for our grandchildren. I am sure that they will fly to other planets.”

From outer space, Elena calls on people to protect nature, advocates for tigers and leopards.

For a six-month flight, an astronaut is entitled to 60 sets of underwear and 30 pairs of socks. There is no shower on the ISS, water is worth its weight in gold, only wet wipes are used - Elena has bathing suits for these procedures. Linen is worn for three days, then disposed of. Especially for Elena, 15 sets were developed and sewn outerwear different colors and the Falcon suit, according to her, is ideal.

As a psychological support, the ISS is scheduled to have daily communication sessions with relatives, reading favorite books. Elena prefers domestic science fiction, books on history, archeology, astronomy.

Serova is the fourth Russian woman to have been in space (taking into account the experience of the USSR), and the first to have been on the International Space Station. This event inspired the Federal Space Agency so much that its head, Oleg Ostapenko, even spoke in the spirit that Roscosmos does not exclude the formation of a crew consisting exclusively of women. “If there is a large influx of women who want to fly into space, we will support it,” Ostapenko said.

Dmitry Rogozin: “Price wars for defense industry products are over”

Deputy Prime Minister

“If I were involved in some kind of international labor organization or health care, I would certainly begin to collect cockroaches or drink bitter,” Dmitry Rogozin, who then held the post of Russia’s plenipotentiary representative at NATO headquarters, admitted to a RR correspondent a few years ago. Dmitry Olegovich liked that work, it corresponded to his ambitions and temperament. It was "his position".

The same can be said about Rogozin's current post in the Cabinet of Ministers - Deputy Prime Minister, responsible for the entire military-industrial complex. He is not a random person here, not an “effective manager” who should only settle the issues of financial flows. Rogozin has a long-standing relationship with the industry: his father, Lieutenant General Oleg Rogozin, a well-known organizer of the Soviet defense industry and a military scientist, served as head of the department for advanced weapons systems of the USSR Ministry of Defense.

A friend of the family was Apollon Systsov, director of the Ulyanovsk Aviation Industrial Complex (UAIC), later head of the allied Minaviaprom, with whom the young Rogozin, according to his father, "discussed aviation, the prospects for this or that type of aircraft." Oleg Rogozin saw his son in the military industry or the army, and he preferred first journalism, and then politics.

But the circle closed, and in December 2011, the former ardent oppositionist, critic of the Kremlin, "imperial nationalist", who had already served as permanent representative to NATO, was appointed deputy prime minister in charge of the defense industry. It must be admitted that the appointment was welcomed both in the defense industry and among the officers. Rogozin, who had never served in the army, was nevertheless considered one of his own.

By this time, the industry was in a stalemate. From year to year, the state defense order failed loudly. The Ministry of Defense, headed by Anatoly Serdyukov, and the arms factories could not agree on prices and payment procedures. The deadlines flew by, the scandal was discussed in the press and the expert community, the first persons of the state intervened, somehow everything was managed to be settled. But the next year, history repeated itself. Rogozin had to resolve this eternal dispute.

The experienced politician acted cautiously and at first did not publicly accuse anyone personally, although, for example, he was persistently offered to smash Serdyukov's "alien for the army". Rogozin decided to take such a step only when Serdyukov was removed from his ministerial post in connection with the corruption criminal case of Oboronservis. It was then that the Deputy Prime Minister spoke about disputes with the former minister, who allegedly treated the interests of the defense industry too lightly and utilitarianly - like a random buyer in a store - and did not understand the interests and characteristics of the industry.

By the way, after Rogozin easily attributed the difficulties that arose to the “Serdyukov legacy”. When in the middle of 2013 there was a hitch with the construction of submarines of the Borey and Yasen types, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the whole problem was due to the low price, the contract was concluded under Serdyukov, and additional costs came out only now.

Nevertheless, Dmitry Rogozin solved the main task - scandals are a thing of the past. “The price wars that made themselves felt two or three years ago are over. They ended because work has been established between the customer and the industry, where the price is fair, the features of creating complex equipment are taken into account, ”Rogozin reported in April of this year at a meeting in Chelyabinsk.

Indeed, a new version of the law “On the State Defense Order” was adopted, taking into account the possibility of compensating factories for unforeseen expenses, and such things are not uncommon in the defense industry. And this is not about a speculative, but about a justified increase in prices (this was achieved by the leaders of the defense industry). On the other hand, under Rogozin, a package of regulatory amendments was developed providing for sanctions for industrialists violating contracts (and this is already a requirement of the Ministry of Defense). A balance, at least an intermediate one, was found.

Yuri Milner: "The treatment of serious diseases requires more effort than fundamental physics"

Yuri Milner is one of those people whose list of positions, titles, regalia and achievements is growing faster than you have time to read it. We will limit ourselves to the most important ones: co-owner and co-founder of Mail.ru Group and DST Global. The first is the largest player on the Russian IT market (Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, Mail.ru). The second performs the same role in the international IT market (Twitter, Facebook, Alibaba Group, Spotify).

A typical boy from a good family, Milner graduated from the physics department of Moscow State University with a degree in theoretical physics, worked at the Academy of Sciences under the guidance of the future Nobel laureate Vitaly Ginzburg. But in 1990, when a breath of change blew in, he suddenly entered the Wharton School of Business in the USA. “I was disappointed in myself as in physics,” Milner later admits.

As a businessman, the future main Russian Internet investor at first also does not shine with consistency, rushing about from task to task. From 1992 to 1995 he worked as an expert on the Russian banking system at the World Bank. Then he returned to Russia and worked for five years in senior positions in the structures of the Menatep group, headed by Mikhail Khodorkovsky. In the late 90s, having witnessed the first dot-com boom, Yuri seriously thinks about his own investments in Runet. Realizing that such a chance on planet Earth occurs once every hundred years, Milner leaves Menatep and, in cooperation with the team of the then fledgling Yandex, begins to actively create and bring to market Russian analogues of popular American Internet resources. But, with all mutual respect, Milner did not get along with the head of Yandex, Arkady Volozh - at the beginning of the 2000s, having obtained the first $ 4.5 million through his business connections, Yuri embarks on an independent voyage. Five years later, Alisher Usmanov, the richest man in Russia with a fortune of $17.6 billion according to Forbes magazine, will become his main partner and co-investor.

Another popular classification of business people divides them into hunters and peasants. Peasant businessmen form the right creative climate, create a fruitful environment, gather kindred souls around them - and something is sure to come out of this. Hunters rely on their own energy, charisma, acumen. “Yura is a brilliant person, I respect him very much,” says Arkady Volozh, head of Yandex. - At that time he was the most energetic of all, he shook, pressed: “Now or never!” Without his energy, without his kicks, we would probably not have moved forward, he gave us the necessary impetus, and I, of course, am grateful to him for that. But according to my own ideas, the atmosphere of such startups is still not hunting, but agriculture, not the jungle, but the garden.”

It is all the more surprising that now, when the fortune of the “hunter” is estimated at billions of dollars, Milner suddenly lost his instinct and took up charity work with the same energy. Moreover, in the area that least of all enjoys the attention of his fellow businessmen - fundamental science.

Yuri Milner does not advertise this, but in fact he challenged the largest scientific prize in the world - the Nobel Prize. First, the Russian entrepreneur established the Fundamental Physics Prize with a value of three million dollars, which is 2.5 times more than the Nobel Prize in Physics. The first nine laureates have already received $27 million. And at the end of 2013, together with Apple CEO Art Levinson, Google founder Sergey Brin and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Yuri Milner established the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences Foundation (in the Russian version - the Breakthrough Foundation), which presented the first eleven awards in three million dollars for excellence in medical research. "The treatment of the most severe diseases requires the efforts of a much larger number of scientists compared to fundamental physics," Milner said.

In addition, at the end of 2013, Milner joined the Giving Pledge initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Warren Buffett, which unites businessmen who pledge to donate at least half of their wealth to charity during their lifetime.

Dear colleagues! Dear People!

Regardless, take a few minutes off. Read the article prepared Moscow Society nature testers, about a member of MOIP, about Dmitry Pavlenko. This guy, as a result of the tragedy, lost his arms and legs, but, thanks to courage, he overcame the disease, began to live full life. Dmitry, despite the absence of arms and legs, graduated from high school, learned to drive a car, work on a computer, and embroider icons. To do this, he developed his own technique, in which he held the needle with his teeth. He created a family, brings up two children, participates in competitions for the disabled, organized public organization- "Rehabilitation Center", which helps others, just like him.

Dmitry does not have arms and legs, but unlike many of us who have all this, he does not “cry”, does not complain about his unfortunate fate. The life of this guy is an example for many people, especially those who use alcohol, drugs and ... simply do nothing in this life, burn through what is given by nature, parents, and maybe ... and God.

I think that each of us has friends, acquaintances and just people who find it useful to read the story of the struggle for life.

Sincerely,
A.P. Sadchikov, Professor of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov,
Vice President of MOIP (http://www.moip.msu.ru)

Older people remember well, each young man of that time there was a desk book by Boris Polevoy “The Tale of a Real Man”. She was with me too. Many years have passed, but I remember this book, I remember how it looked, I remember its content. Although it sounds a little pathetic, she was a guiding light for the young people of my generation, including me. No need for modern "ideologists" to find fault with my words. Each time, each era has its own guidelines, its own examples to follow. They helped young people find their way in life.

I will briefly talk about this story, because. I am sure that many modern young people are not even aware of its existence. After all, they are brought up on other examples, they have other idols.

Patriotic War. Air battle. The plane was shot down, crashed in the forest behind the front line. Pilot Alexei Meresyev was seriously wounded, his legs were broken. A courageous man crawls to the front line. 18 days - without water and food, in frost and cold. Frostbite of the feet. Partisans. Hospital. Leg amputation. Life has lost its meaning. Thoughts of leaving life began to come. Meeting with wonderful person. He revived in the pilot the desire for life, the confidence that he could return to duty. An article about a Russian pilot of the First World War who, having lost his feet, continued to fly. Meresyev began to train on prostheses - he ran, jumped, danced. Terrible pains. Medical Commission. Meresyev insisted that he be sent to a training regiment. The courage of the pilot allowed him to continue flying, fighting, and beating the enemy.

At literary hero Alexei Meresyev was the prototype pilot Alexey Petrovich Maresyev. Due to a severe wound during the Great Patriotic War, both legs were amputated. However, despite the disability, the pilot returned to the sky, flying with prostheses. In total, during the war, he made 86 sorties, shot down 11 enemy aircraft: four before being wounded and seven after being wounded. For courage and courage he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

A.P. Maresyev was a respected person, he lived a long and decent life, not having lived just two days before his 85th birthday. He educated the younger generation by his example.

The book "The Tale of a Real Man" helped many people find themselves in difficult situations. I can say the same about myself. There were times when it was difficult for me, I took a book and held it in my hands. There was no point in reading, because. remembered its contents well. If a person without legs could fly, could live, be useful to society, why can't I solve my petty problems on my own.

Much later, I got my hands on a book by Dale Carnegie, where the author recommends that people who have lost self-confidence read the last page of the Sunday newspaper, where obituaries are printed. He advises to exchange with those who died, their problems. The dead, in his opinion, would gladly take all the problems of a disappointed person in exchange for a future life.

And now a story about another, already modern, courageous and strong man. His story is probably more dramatic than that of the famous pilot. He had arms, legs, he, although on prostheses, could still walk. But our hero has neither.

This man's name is Dmitry Pavlenko. While in the army, in military service, a tragedy happened. As a result of the explosion of a combat grenade, an 18-year-old boy was left without arms and legs. Imagine, a young man, whose life was just beginning, became a complete invalid, a burden for everyone, and, above all, for himself.

Life is over! This is for many, God forbid, find yourself in such a situation. But not for this guy. Despite suffering a severe injury, he began to live a full life. This is a perfect example of the struggle for life. Indeed, in his situation, every day of life is a struggle for life itself.

I am writing this for young people and all those who aimlessly burn through what is given by God, nature, parents. They burn through their health, their life, which is very short, despite the seeming long years. Many do not know where to put themselves. Hence alcohol, drugs, suicide, etc. They waste their meaningless lives in bars, nightclubs and just ... doing nothing. All this is a tragedy for relatives and friends, for society, and first of all for the person himself. Ultimately, such people become useless in later life.

I think Dmitry is ready to take on all the problems of humanity, just for one thing, just to play football, walk arm in arm with a girl down the street, pick up a hammer and hammer in a nail. In total, for the problems of all people!

Dmitry, despite the absence of arms and legs, went to study, graduated from high school, mastered such skills that, it would seem, are not compatible with his physical abilities - he learned to drive a car, work on a computer, embroider icons. To do this, he developed his own technique, in which he held the needle with his teeth. It was embroidery with teeth that was the occupation by which he proved to everyone and to himself something very important.

Dmitry graduated from a higher educational institution - the Moscow Institute of Economics, Politics and Law, Faculty of Psychology. The topic of his thesis Features of the psychological rehabilitation of wheelchair users”, a topic that is much more relevant than many candidate and doctoral dissertations. He writes in it about life, about survival on his own example. How to survive without arms or legs. Isn't this thesis a continuation of the well-known "The Tale of a Real Man"? He wrote thesis, not realizing that it is a story about human survival in the most extreme conditions. Moreover, it is useful not only for the disabled, but also for healthy people who, for some reason, despaired of life or did not find themselves in it.

Dmitry organized " Rehabilitation center of Dmitry Pavlenko" v Sverdlovsk region. Having passed a difficult path, he chose his own, no less difficult one - to help those who find themselves in a difficult situation. The motto of the Pavlenko Center is " Everything depends on you».

The activities of the "Dmitry Pavlenko Rehabilitation Center" are aimed at providing rehabilitation assistance to people affected by emergency events - war veterans, family members of those killed in the line of military duty, hostages, victims of terrorism, man-made, natural disasters, the disabled, including children with disabilities, other citizens who suffered as a result of trauma. A person, first of all, needs a convincing example of the behavior of another in a similar situation. The presence of a proper name in the name of the organization is a sign of personal, personal responsibility for the work carried out by the Center, for its quality and level. Dmitry maintains the functioning of his page on the website "Human WORLD", and is in correspondence with readers (http://www.mircheloveka.ru/node/5). By his personal example, he shows how one can get out of a psychological impasse.

In "The Tale of a Real Man" there was a man - a commissar who helped a desperate pilot. Dmitry also had (and still has) such a person. This is Valery Mikhailovich Mikhailovsky, a rehabilitation doctor. Now he is not so much Dmitry's doctor as a mentor and senior friend. They were introduced by a wonderful female teacher Lyudmila Alekseevna Korchagova, who own initiative visited hospitals where military personnel wounded in Chechnya were treated.

Dmitriy is given great moral support by his family - his parents and wife Olga, who is a certified social worker. She knows the problem of rehabilitation not theoretically, she lives by it. Dmitry and Olga had a daughter six years ago. And now the family has expanded even more - appeared little son. Dmitry and Olga take care of children with great parental tenderness and love. I think such a close-knit family is not afraid of any hardships.

Founder "Rehabilitation center of Dmitry Pavlenko" is an autonomous non-profit organization "Intersectoral Institute of Human Rehabilitation named after Professor M.S. Mikhailovsky" (Human WORLD), headed by V.M. Mikhailovsky. The "WORLD of Man" established and helped to organize several author's rehabilitation centers - in Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Sverdlovsk Region (http://www.mircheloveka.ru/). All created centers "Peace of Man" are united by a common rehabilitation strategy developed by Mikhail Semyonovich Mikhailovsky, who himself lost both legs at the front in 1941 at the age of 18, but, despite this, became a doctor, professor, president of the invalid sports federation. In his view, rehabilitation is the process of educating a creative socially useful person. This rehabilitation strategy unites the “Human WORLD” centers created in several regions of the Russian Federation to provide assistance to people who find themselves in difficult life situations. The son of M.S. Mikhailovsky, Valery Mikhailovich, developed the ideas of his father, made rehabilitation the main business of his life.

It is very difficult for a person who has received physical and psychological trauma to cope with it on their own. He needs the help of a rehabilitation doctor. The main task of a rehabilitator is to help this person survive the trauma, teach them to live in a new way. A rehabilitation doctor must revive a person to life, make the person himself want to change his fate.

Valery Mikhailovich did not just declare the ideas of rehabilitation. In 1990, in Zelenograd, he organized a non-governmental Center for the disabled and war veterans called the School of Rehabilitation, which provided free assistance to people for seven years. In 1998, this Center was reorganized into the state institution "Rehabilitation Center for the Social Adaptation of Disabled Persons and Participants in Hostilities" of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow. Considering that the framework public institution fettered the director's initiative, in 2004 V.M. Mikhailovsky organized the "Peace of Man", uniting people into a voluntary social movement aimed at supporting war veterans, the disabled, family members of fallen servicemen, developing rehabilitationology, and creating an effective rehabilitation service in Russia.

Dmitry Pavlenko holds an annual marathon for wheelchair users, he himself participates in these competitions. He took part in the New York Marathon (photo), in the run on the Borodino field, in marathons in the Sverdlovsk region and other regions of the country. Marathons make it possible to draw public attention to the problems of people with disabilities, as well as to reveal their potential, demonstrate strength of mind and desire to be useful to society. Dmitry and his comrades, by personal example, convince people who have certain health limitations that the key to success lies precisely in oneself. Rehabilitation consists primarily in a personal desire to change the situation, in the willingness to work on oneself, to work, to overcome oneself and one's hardships.

Dmitry constantly takes part in the work of the Scientific and Practical Conference "Problems of Modern Rehabilitation", which is held annually on May 14 at the Rehabilitation Center in Zelenograd. There he talks about his successes and achievements. In 2013, it was already the 12th such conference. The work of this conference is inextricably linked with the name of Professor Mikhail Semenovich Mikhailovsky, who, in fact, is its main ideological inspirer.

The conferences are preceded by a Divine Liturgy at the Savior-Borodino convent, where the tomb of St. Mary of Borodino is located. It was on the Borodino field, thanks to the ascetic activity of Mother Superior Maria (in the world, Margarita Mikhailovna Tuchkova), that the process of rehabilitation of people who had lost their loved ones in the war of 1812 began to unfold. At that time, there were no ideas about post-traumatic stress disorder, about rehabilitation centers. But people after the war of 1812 suffered no less than modern veterans and family members of the victims. Margarita Mikhailovna helped everyone who turned to her for help, and the word of God, and prayer, and human participation, and a kind word. At the monastery, she created an almshouse, where she provided assistance to the disabled - participants in the Battle of Borodino.

V.M. Mikhailovsky believes that “the experience of the ascetic activity of Mother Superior Mary is the most important source for the development of national rehabilitation studies, is of scientific and practical interest for the modern rehabilitation of war veterans and their families.” Therefore, they begin all their activities (conferences, marathons and other good deeds) after the Divine Liturgy at the tomb of Mother Superior Mary (see photo).

In 2012, the Presidium of the Moscow Society of Nature Testers established a Rehabilitology section within its structure. This section was organized on the initiative collective member of MOIP- Rehabilitation center "WORLD of Man" named after Professor M.S. Mikhailovsky and employees of the State Budgetary Institution of Moscow "Rehabilitation Center for Social Adaptation of Disabled Persons and Participants in Military Operations".

The Moscow Society of Naturalists is proud that such courageous and strong people are its members.

The activities of MOIP, organized in 1805, are surprisingly intertwined with the historical military events of 1812, the battle of Borodino. Many members of the MOIP, its presidents took part in the military events of that time. It is very symbolic that the section "Rehabilitology" appeared on the eve of the bicentenary of the celebration of the victory Patriotic War. The people who make up the section team have been striving for many years to create an effective model for the rehabilitation service for war veterans and the disabled. A significant part of this work is carried out on the Borodino field, where the Rehabilitation Center of the WORLD of Man "House of Fatherland Defenders" on the Borodino field was created by volunteers, including disabled people and war veterans.

In search of new forms and effective methods of rehabilitation, V.M. Mikhailovsky came to an interesting mass work that combines the possibilities of sports and group rehabilitation support, which was called "Rehabilitation March". For the first time, the Rehabilitation March-Run was carried out in Borodino on August 14, 2010 along the route of the Spaso-Borodino Monastery - the Rehabilitation Center "House of Defenders of the Fatherland" on the Borodino field. The length of the route is 5.5 km. 157 people took part in the first rehabilitation march, 254 people in the second, and about 400 people in the third (2012) (and this despite the heavy rain). See photo.

Everyone who is interested in the development of a rehabilitation service for war veterans and disabled people in Russia is invited to cooperate with MIR Man and Dmitry Pavlenko's Rehabilitation Center.

For my part, I appeal to journalists and writers with a request to write a story (story) about Dmitry Sergeevich Pavlenko, which would become a life guide for modern young people.

Anatoly Sadchikov,
Professor of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov,
Vice-President of the Moscow Society of Naturalists

Like any other year, 2013 - along with pleasant events - was remembered sad stories and tragedies. But it was they who became the background for the wonderful deeds of brave and selfless people. The VZGLYAD newspaper decided to recall the heroes who acutely felt their responsibility for people and were ready to protect them at the cost of their lives.

Senior warrant officer of the Taman division of the Strategic Missile Forces near Saratov, Dmitry Voitik, passing by the river, noticed on thin ice two sisters of eight and ten years old and decided to warn the girls about the danger, but even before the car stopped, the children were in the water. Dmitry rushed to help. When he ran closer to the hole, the ice began to crack under him, so the ensign had to crawl for several meters. He also pulled out the girls lying down.

The rescued sisters were brought home by the military man and left without telling his friends or colleagues about the incident. The parents were able to find the savior of their daughters only a week later.

Literally carrying patients out of the burning building on her hands, Yulia managed to take only a couple of sips of oxygen in order to return to the smoke-filled corridors again. She died before reaching the door to the street a few steps, NTV reports.

In total, 35 patients died in the fire, but 23 people survived terrible night thanks to Yulia Anufrieva, who became a hero not only for the patients she saved, but for all Russians. “For courage and courage shown in the performance of civil and official duty”, Yulia Anufrieva was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.

Their stories prove how strong a person can be.

As you know, the true nature of a person is known only when he is driven into a corner, reports nfoniac.

There are many people in history whose stories and deeds we admire, and also wonder how they managed to cope with incredibly difficult situations.

In many cases, they were helped by courage and courage, the ability to think soberly and choose the right plan of action.

Some of them were able to survive the ordeal only thanks to willpower and steadfastness.

Leonid Rogozov

1. In 1961 Soviet doctor Leonid Rogozov removed his inflamed appendix. He was the only doctor at a remote research station in Antarctica and thanks to the operation he was able to survive.

When 27-year-old doctor Leonid Rogozov was placed in the new Antarctic colony, he came down with severe pain and the classic symptoms of appendicitis. He knew that the only way out there would be an operation for him, but since there was no transport due to the blizzard and he was the only doctor on the base, he had to operate on his own.

Several people assisted him as he calmly and concentratedly performed the operation. Every five Rogozov took a break to recover from weakness and dizziness.

It took him 1 hour and 45 minutes to perform the operation, which he did while looking at his reflection in the mirror. The doctor recovered after a few weeks and went back to work.

Miyamoto Musashi

2. Miyamoto Musashi - Japanese swordsman of the 17th century was twice late for duels and defeated both opponents. For his next duel, he decided not to be late and arrived early, ambushing those who ambushed him.

After the war between the Toyotomi and Tokugawa clans in 1600, a young 20-year-old youth Musashi began a series of duels against the Yoshioka school. He was able to defeat Yoshioka Seijiro, the master of the Yoshioka school, with one blow. Seijiro handed over leadership of the school to his brother Yoshioka Denshichiro, who also challenged Musashi to a duel, but was defeated, leaving 12-year-old Yoshioka Matashichiro as master.

This angered the Yoshioka family so much that they ambushed him with archers, musketeers, and swordsmen. However, this time Musashi decided to arrive much earlier than the appointed time and hid. He unexpectedly attacked the enemy and killed him, ending the Yoshioka family.

Roy Benavidez

3. Master Sergeant Roy Benavidez fought for 6 hours, receiving 37 stab wounds and a broken jaw, and his eyes were swollen with blood. He was declared dead, but when the doctor tried to seal him in a black bag, the man spat in his face.

In 1965, Benavidez was hit by a mine in southern Vietnam and was evacuated to the United States, where doctors said he would no longer be able to walk. However, after several months of persistent practice, he began to walk again. Despite constant pain, the sergeant returned to Vietnam on May 2, 1968, after hearing a call for help from a captured SWAT team.

Armed with one knife and an orderly's bag, he went by helicopter to rescue people. He repelled attacks and helped save the lives of at least 8 people, but he himself was already considered dead. They put a bag in him, and when the doctor tried to zip it up, Benavidez spat in his face.

Harald III the Severe

4. Harald III the Severe - a Viking who was forced to leave his native Norway and flee to Russia, became an elite guard in the Eastern Roman Empire and fought in Iraq. He then returned to Russia, married a princess, and returned to Norway as king, taking over England with his army.

When Harald was 15 years old, he fought with his brother Olaf in the battle for the Norwegian throne, which he lost to the Danish king Canute the Great. However, they lost the battle and were forced to leave the country after spending 15 years on Kievan Rus and in the Varangian Guard in the Byzantine Empire.

In 1042 he returned from Byzantium and began a campaign to regain the Norwegian throne. He became an ally of Sven II, the nephew of the king of Denmark, with whom he became co-ruler of Norway and sole ruler after Sven's death. Harald unsuccessfully claimed the throne of Denmark until 1064 and the throne of England in 1066. His death at the Battle of Stamford Bridge for the throne of England is considered the end of the Viking Age, and he is considered the last great Viking.

Thomas Baker

5. Being wounded, soldier Thomas Baker ordered his detachment to leave himself near a tree with a pistol and 8 rounds of ammunition. Later, when Baker was found in the same place with an empty pistol, 8 dead Japanese soldiers lay around him.

During World War II, between June 19 and July 7, Thomas Baker displayed exceptional courage. He voluntarily ran with a bazooka 90 meters from the enemy, and under gunfire.

On July 7, Baker was badly wounded when the perimeter he was within was surrounded by Japanese soldiers.

Refusing to evacuate, he asked his friends to lean him against a tree with a pistol, in the clip of which there were 8 rounds. When he was later found dead, the gun was empty and 8 dead Japanese soldiers lay nearby.

Interesting stories from people's lives

Jesse Arbogast

6. In 2001, 8-year-old Jesse Arbogast was attacked by a 2-meter six-gill shark, which tore off his arm. His uncle, hearing the noise, dragged the shark out of the ocean onto the shore while the shark was still holding the child's severed arm. Luckily, surgeons were later able to reattach the arm.

Jesse Arbogast was on the Pensacola coast in Florida with his uncle Vance Flossenzier when the accident happened.

The first thing his uncle did was pull the shark out of the ocean and return his nephew's hand. Luckily, the surgeons were able to successfully reattach the boy's hand.

Jeanne de Clisson

7. Frenchwoman Jeanne de Clisson became a pirate in the 14th century in retaliation for her husband's beheading. She sold her lands and bought 3 ships, painting them black. She attacked French ships and dealt with sailors, beheading them with her own hand with an ax.
