Dielectric boots and galoshes

Today I will tell you everything about special dielectric shoes. It includes:

• dielectric bots
• dielectric galoshes

Dielectric boots and galoshes are used to protect a person from step voltage, or, as it is also called, step voltage.

Dielectric boots and galoshes are ONLY additional insulating in open (without precipitation) and closed electrical installations.

Attention!!! In electrical installations, it is allowed to use dielectric boots and galoshes, made strictly in accordance with the requirements of GOST.

Designation for protective properties:

• dielectric bots - EV
• dielectric galoshes - EN

The color of dielectric boots and galoshes should be different in color from other shoes made of rubber.

Dielectric bot must have a lapel.

The height of the dielectric bot must be at least 16 (cm).

Testing dielectric bot and galoshes

I have already said that the testing of dielectric bot and galoshes is carried out in a similar way.

Dielectric boots or galoshes are installed horizontally in the bath. The water level should be within 45-55 (mm) from the edge of the bot lapels, and 15-25 (mm) from the edges of the overshoes.

Dielectric Bot Test

The test voltage for testing the dielectric bot is 15 (kV). The test duration is 1 minute. The current passing through the bots should be no more than 7.5 (mA).

The frequency of testing dielectric bot is 1 time in 3 years.

Dielectric galoshes test

The test voltage for testing dielectric galoshes is 3.5 (kV). The test duration is 1 minute. The current passing through the gloves should be no more than 2 (mA).

The frequency of testing dielectric galoshes is 1 time per year.

Terms of use

In the premises of electrical installations, dielectric boots and galoshes of several sizes should be available.

Before using dielectric boats, or galoshes, it is necessary to inspect them.

During the inspection, pay attention to the following:

• test stamp

mechanical damage

pollution

lining peeling
